Greg Wilson returns to Running Back with another special project.
Forty years on from the release of the groundbreaking ‘Street Sounds UK Electro’ LP, ‘Real Time’ (two versions of which opened the separate sides of the album), finally gets a 12” release. Despite its prominence on ‘UK Electro’, it was the only inclusion not to be issued on 12” back in 1984.
Zer-o, like Syncbeat and Forevereaction, were the same trio – Manchester musicians, Martin Jackson and Andy Connell, and DJ Greg Wilson, making his first foray into record production. They also teamed up with rappers, Kermit and Fiddz, for the Broken Glass
track, ‘Style Of The Street’, one of the early UK hip hop releases. Fictional production and songwriting credits were added by Street Sounds to suggest a thriving British electro scene, the music having blown-up in New York during ‘82/’83, with the ‘Street Sounds Electro’
series, launched in October ’83, documenting these developments and unlocking a significant youth market who’d religiously collect these compilations.
Featured here is a Greg Wilson edit of ‘Real Time’, the ‘retrospective dub’ (the ‘UK Electro opener, which was in fact the original demo version of the track), and a Gerd Janson bonus beats edit. Flip it over and you’ll find a pair of 2024 reworks – the retrospective
dub, and the more downtempo introspective dub – courtesy of Greg and Ché Wilson, whose recent collaborations have included remixes for Gabriels and Confidence Man.

On the flip, On Sight plunges into deeper, hypnotic territory before Mezer The Architect provides a sophisticated, architectural remix that reconstructs the original into a brooding, late-night weapon. The vinyl journey concludes with Body Language, a rhythmic workout of sharp hi-hats and undulating bass, while the digital-exclusive Go Higher offers a final, soaring peak-time moment.

A comprehensive exploration of modern techno, The Rush is a definitive statement from Zero Idea and a powerful addition to the AnalyticTrail legacy.

Combining Bach with traditional Gabonese music, Lambarena pays tribute to Albert Schweitzer, a doctor and musician who settled in Lambaréné in 1913. Conceived by Hughes de Courson and Pierre Akendengué, this extraordinary project brings together more than 250 artists and blends organ, baroque choirs, and African percussion in a musical celebration of rare intensity. Transparent grünes Vinyl! Wieder lieferbar! Zum ersten Mal überhaupt seit der digital-only Veröffentlichung 2011 erscheint nun der erste "Minecraft"-Soundtrack in physischer Form. Die Vinylversion enthält zwölf Tracks! "Minecraft - Volume Alpha" ist das Werk des deutschen Komponisten und Musikers Daniel Rosenfeld. Unter seinem Künstlernamen C418 erschuf Rosenfeld den weitreichenden Soundtrack und das lebendige Sounddesign, das das auf Voxel aufgebaute Universum von "Minecraft" zum Leben erweckte. Fans und Kritiker waren durch die Bank weg begeistert von seinen beatlosen, ausgewogenen Electro-Stücken. Die bekannte Gaming Seite "Kotaku" führte den Soundtrack unter der "Best Game Music" 2011 und nannte die Musik "beeindruckend beruhigend", während The Guardian die zerbrechlichen Stücke Rosenfelds aus Klavier und minimalistischem Ambient mit den legendären Künstlern ERIK SATIE und BRIAN ENO. In einem Interview destillierte Polygon "Volume Alpha" auf seine Essenz hinuntern: "Der Soundtrack ist nicht gebunden an die Retro-Ästhetik der Minecraft Graphik. Der Soundtrack setzt sich über sie hinweg. Das Album ist ein Versuch, die kombinierte Game/Music Erfahrung in etwas Himmlisches zu übersetzen."

Yes here we are 50 years on from year zero 1976 (where did that go!!!). To celebrate this and the fact we are all still here and talking about the importance of the Punk Rock movement i put together an album under the banner Punk Rock Daze. The title reflects it was all such a daze, as it ran by so fast and also as a reminder of an old Malcolm McLaren remark that came to mind. That when the band and management were discussing the look and name of the Sex Pistols forthcoming album ‘Never Mind The Bollocks’. Malcolm remarked, lets sell it as you would sell washing powder, bright, simple and with fluorescence colours. Great idea so here is my homage to that thought.

So I hope you enjoy the gesture and here’s to another 50 years of Alchemy, Joyousness and
instruction (Anarchy, Chaos and Destruction).

Peace and Punk Mal-One

In Gianfranco Rosi’s portrait of Naples, Sotto le Nuvole, the ground shakes periodically. Between Mount Vesuvius and the Tyrrhenian Sea, the fumaroles of the Phlegraean Fields hiss volcanic gas and steam. Below the sleeping volcano, modern day Naples emerges in black and white and fills with voices, with lives. From the traces of history and the concerns of the present, Rosi documents a city immersed in its continuous past, with Daniel Blumberg’s minimal soundscape hovering in a sonic space between liquid and air.
Tasked with creating a soundscape that would suspend space within Rosi’s film, Blumberg called upon the extended technique of saxophonists Seymour Wright and John Butcher to create a gossamer fabric of traces and sounds abstracted from their instruments. Having transitioned from theoretical physics to the saxophone, John Butcher has always deeply considered space in the context of his playing. His concerns are with flow, density and how the saxophone is situated in the living world. Zeroing in on the core sonic properties of the mechanical and acoustic components of the saxophone, Seymour Wright has integrated its every breath, reed vibration, keypad clatter and hissed microtone of his alto into his own, unique improvisational language. In his work with these two seminal players, Blumberg makes his most concentrated soundtrack to date - reinforcing the film's sense of overlapping time and space, and pushing at the limits of experimentation.

Initially recorded in Daniel’s flat in London, Butcher and Wright centre themselves around long, consistent tones, so soft that it seems breath is being gently pulled from the saxophone's bell by an invisible hand. Blumberg himself adds haunting bass harmonica, and recordings of Wright’s launeddas - a traditional and ancient triple pipe polyphonic reed instrument from Sardinia, Italy. Blumberg then travelled to the volcanic region of Baia, next to Pompeii. Once a flourishing classical Roman city loved by Nero, Baia slowly sank under hydrothermal pressure, leaving the city in a kind of geological purgatory. Using specialised geophones and hydrophones, Blumberg took those initial recordings and amplified them underwater, sending them calling out across the ruins of Baia’s mosaics, Nymphaeum statues and villas.

“It was important to me that the music was whispered in the same landscape that Gianfranco has worked for the past three years, so that you can hear the volcanic air gulping, the lapping of the waves, the steam and bubbles popping against John and Seymour’s saxophone breaths – an echo from a suspended time.”
What emerges is deeply melancholic, tender, subtle and right at the edges of audio technology. Submerged in an aquarian mausoleum, the mysterious vibrations of the saxophone and its bell become an echo of an echo, wading from the future into the past. ‘Sotto le Nuvole’ is less a soundtrack than a process of aeration - a sonic puncture in the material of the film which allows its central message to breathe, and a remarkable experiment at the limits of the saxophone’s possibility.

Ramping up the intensity from his 2025 debut, Joe Milli returns to Livity Sound with a spring-loaded EP of upfront club workouts that once again split the difference between techno propulsion and UK Funky swagger.

Milli's previous release, Deep Forest, carried a dubby atmosphere on top of its bassweight rhythms. On this new four-track EP, the shroud lifts and he leans in on raw, impactful drums and sparse sound fields.

'Retreat' piles percussion into an uptempo stomper with a looped intensity and carnival accents on top, and 'Mantra' offers a similar 4/4 thrust around the 140 mark. Meanwhile, 'Revival' locks down low into a heavy dembow-informed groove and 'The Less You Know' prizes tense, precisely arranged hand drums with a minimal finish primed for creative blends.

Zeroing in on stark, heads-down production for the club, the Repetitions EP offers a different slant on Milli's emergent, sharply executed sound.

Durch beschwörende Wiederholungen und durchscheinende Klangfluten ebnet Sprague einen initiatorischen Weg mit modularer Komplexität und lyrischer Weitsicht, untermalt von V Haddads transparenter Stimme. Mit instinktiver Präzision offenbart ,Double Moon" sensorische Weite durch viszerale, szenische Komposition. Geprägt von gepatchten Farbverläufen, frostigen Winkeln und warmen, melodischen Wellen dreht sich jeder Klang um den nächsten, taucht gleichzeitig auf und verschwindet wieder in einem fesselnden Klangbogen. Dieser Track bewegt sich in schillernder Subtilität - die Farbe der Nacht, die sich über den Himmel zieht und die Silhouetten beleuchtet, die sie erst möglich macht.Der mittlere Track, ,Dusk (How to Fly)", ist seinem Titel getreu ein subtiles und bewegendes Experiment, das den Ausklang des Tages heraufbeschwört, zusammen mit einem flüchtigen Anflug von Erhabenheit und der nahen Möglichkeit des Fliegens. Guidelines launches its 2026 schedule with a heavyweight two-tracker from Toby Ross, pairing two cuts built for very different corners of the dance.

On the A-side, “Can’t Do It” lands as a straight-up dancefloor heater rolling low-end pressure, clipped vocal stabs and a hook that locks in quickly and refuses to let go. Built with peak-time intent, it’s direct, physical and engineered to hit hard on proper systems.

Flip it over and “Interruption” dives headfirst into classic amen territory. Chopped, urgent and restless, the track drives forward on tight edits and raw break energy, balancing precision programming with that unmistakable rough-edge jungle feel.

Together the two tracks showcase Ross’ approach: future-focused jungle rooted in foundation sounds — modern production, classic DNA, and zero filler.

A four-track EP operating between tension and motion. Man in Static features three original tracks and a remix by Adrià from Cúpula Records, Barcelona. The record explores repetition, signal, and pressure, with the club as its transmission point. Written and prepared throughout 2025, the EP is released in 2026 as the first chapter of a series on the Mozali Records electronic imprint.

The EP was mixed by Taro Venn, aka Georj, keeping the sound close to its original form. Mastering was completed by Viceversa, preparing the record for club systems.

Rinascimento Elettronico presents its first vinyl release: R/E001 — Divide By Zero EP by Translate, featuring a remix by Psyk. Out May 28th.
Argentinian artist Translate, a well-established name within the hypnotic techno scene, delivers a refined and immersive EP built on deep, looping structures, textured atmospheres and subtle rhythmic progression. His sound navigates between tension and introspection, maintaining a strong focus on hypnotic continuity and dancefloor functionality.
On remix duties, Spanish master Psyk reinterprets Inactive with his distinctive signature — stripped-back, precise and driving — adding a powerful and functional edge to the release.
With Divide By Zero EP, Rinascimento Elettronico sets the tone for its vinyl series, focusing on forward-thinking techno rooted in depth, repetition and sonic identity.

CYRK return to their Time Zero imprint with The Future EP, a powerful homage to Belgium's new beat legacy. The release features three original cuts alongside a remix from fellow Belgian artist Shero featuring Ki Jeal. The release will be available digitally on Wrong Era

This first release inaugurates Sistema Infinito, a new platform by Sabla created as a space for a more continuous release flow and for exploring different angles within his sound. SI 00 sets the tone for a shifting direction while remaining connected to previous work.

The first track, Zerozero, shares its name with the release itself and reflects it sonically. An exercise in bass minimalism, defined by quasi-weightless low-end pressure and reduced, suspended form.

Punti leans closer to Sabla’s previous outputs, where skeletal drums and percussion wander throughout the 7 minutes.

Punto Uno and Punto Due sit on side B, creating 15 mins of atmospheric texture. They extend the conceptual axis of Sistema Infinito, where the same material resolves into different structural states.

All of these sounds operate as a starting point for forthcoming SI releases, creating a flux of recurring and evolving sounds and ideas.

,Shade Zero" ist das Debütalbum der Flötistin und Komponistin Taiga Ultan, das sich mit dem Verhältnis zwischen Freiheit und Regeln beim Musizieren auseinandersetzt. Sleeparchive and Oliver Rosemann present a collaborative EP built as a shared system rather than a dialogue.
It is procedural: reduction, iteration, feedback.

Elements are introduced to be tested against the system. Changes occur slowly, often at the edge of perception, creating tension through persistence. This record documents convergence. A temporary alignment of processes, tools and timing.

The Sunken EP is cut for long-form playback, where variation becomes noticeable through duration to put you into a hypnotic state.

Gold Panda returns with TON UP, a brilliantly stubborn new album for Studio Barnhus: eight rough-hewn dance tracks and two cozy little service-station interludes, all crafted with the robust determination of a producer who knows that 140 bpm is not so much a tempo as a way of life.
Made with Derwin Dicker’s unmistakable sampler-bashing touch, the tracks on Ton Up carry the raw knock of old-school hip-hop instrumentals, pushed through pumping house-music machinery and ready to cause absolute trouble on any half-decent sound system.
Here you’ll find zero of that dreaded, over-explained “maturity” usually demanded of beloved electronic artists several albums deep into the game. Instead, Gold Panda just sounds as happily locked in as ever, carelessly chasing the physical joys of pressure, swing and repetition.
TON UP is functional, funny and oddly tender club music, arriving just when the world needed it the most (June 26 that is.)

Gradual Isolation started in the early 90s as the musical project of 2 friends, Luc Van Den Bosch and Filip Van Breda, both living in Turnhout, Belgium.

They were inspired by EBM and new wave from the 80s and 90s and saw bands such as the Canadian Psyche as their great examples. With just a few synthesizers, a drum machine and a homemade microphone, they made music that could be described as emotional, and somewhat naive bedroom new wave. If the term emo-wave doesn't exist yet, it should be invented to describe Gradual Isolation's music.

Over the years, many tapes have been filled with their improvisations and about 20 to 30 songs have been more or less completed. They never officially released their music, only a handful of handmade cassette tapes were distributed to friends. They did not go further than a single performance in the local new wave bar ‘The Cave’ in Turnhout in 1991, but the duo stayed together and continues to make music to this day.

‘The Sky Converts’ and ‘Agony By Men’ appeared on Underground Wave Volume 7, and now, for the first time, a full-length LP ‘Remaining Faces’ has been released on Walhalla Records!

With skynet T.6, the time has come for ROBOTRON to expand the network of SKYNET CYBERSONIX. From the signal zones emerges DOPPLEREFFEKT – with a conceptual transmission between time-fields, entropic resonance, and asymptotic states – entitled EONFIELD. Issued as a limited edition of 200 × 12″ copies, available on black or silver vinyl – including a numbered insert sheet, a sticker, and one of 50 randomly packed posters.

Eonfield is a conceptual framework in which reality is treated as a field defined not primarily across space, but across cosmological time scales approaching infinity. In this view, all physical states, structures, and observers are understood as functions evolving within an extended temporal domain, where the dominant variable is time in its asymptotic limit. As duration increases, local distinctions – such as form, energy distribution, and informational structure – undergo progressive smoothing under entropic dynamics. The Eonfield therefore describes a regime in which the evolution of the universe is no longer meaningfully characterized by discrete events or objects, but by the global behavior of fields approaching equilibrium conditions. Concepts like causality, locality, and state differentiation remain formally valid but lose practical significance as their effects are diluted across effectively unbounded temporal intervals.

Philosophically, the Eonfield reframes ontology around persistence rather than presence. Identity, within this framework, is not a fixed property but a transient configuration that becomes increasingly unstable as time extends toward infinity. Information is not annihilated but redistributed toward maximal entropy, rendering it inaccessible rather than nonexistent. The Eonfield thus represents a limiting description of reality in which all structured differences converge toward uniformity, and where the question of “what exists” is replaced by “what remains distinguishable over infinite duration.” It implies that being itself is subordinate to temporal extension, and that the ultimate condition of reality is not a state in the conventional sense, but a boundary behavior of all possible states under infinite time evolution.

Das Alt.Country-Konzeptalbum "Rattlesnake Boy" entstand in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Produzenten Shannon Fowler (Tom Lark) und handelt lose von einem Pro-Wrestler am Ende seiner Karriere. Das Album wurde jedoch auch von einer zerbrochenen Beziehung inspiriert, sodass die Songs einen tiefen emotionalen Kern haben. Mainard ist seit seiner Kindheit ein Fan des professionellen Wrestlings. Als Teenager besuchte er ein Raw-Event in den USA und meldete sich sogar in einem Fitnessstudio an, um die Grundtechniken zu erlernen. Später wurde ihm klar, dass viele Wrestler der frühen 2000er Jahre in einer Branche arbeiteten, in der Drogenkonsum an der Tagesordnung war und Gesundheits- und Sicherheitsbedenken keine Rolle spielten. Mainard entschied sich, die eigenen emotionalen Kreuzungen durch die Geschichte eines Pro-Wrestlers zu erkunden, der eine ähnliche Phase des Umbruchs durchlebt.

Somewhere between krautrock, noise rock, decaying psychedelia, and pagan proto-punk, Dééfait makes music like one performs a ritual: in trance, on repeat, and without a safety net. From the chaotic arteries of Mexico City to the basement venues of the Paris suburbs, Dééfait sculpts noise rock in apnea. Their self-titled debut EP is a noise rite: a wall of guitars, incantatory percussion, and possessed voices. With Dééfait, sound twists, repeats, stretches, until exhaustion and ecstasy. Formed in 2023, Dééfait brings together the Valero brothers (Lucas on guitar / Pablo, ex-Pays P, on drums), Enir Da (bass - Temir Alcy, Dali Muru & the Polyphonic Swarm), Grégoire Couvert (guitar), and Riki Lara, a Mexican-born vocalist and performer whose lyrics _ chanted, whispered, shouted _ alternate in three languages: English, Spanish, and French. Active on the Paris underground scene since 2024 (La Mécanique Ondulatoire, Le Cirque Électrique, Nouveaux Sauvages_), Dééfait imposes a ritual tension, physical, almost hallucinatory. No choruses to hum along to, no comforting melodies _ just a dense sonic flow that seeps and vibrates. This debut EP, set for release in December 2025 on Ici, d'ailleurs (Zëro, Matt Elliott, Bruit Noir_), lines up six long tracks resembling pagan litanies. Six extended pieces forming a possessed monologue, as if a camera had been slipped inside a burning body. Everything pants. Everything overflows. From We Love Each Other So Much That We Won't Belong To Any Species Anymore, love exceeds expected forms and becomes an organic pact, a ritual of species departure: "Cut me like you want, in bloom your fire," "We scratch consanguinity / We don't belong to any species anymore." It quickly suggests a call to ecstasy, to trance. The EP as a whole navigates unstable zones where desire, sacrifice, and alienation entwine like serpents on acid. Molokh 8 chants an offering to a carnivorous deity, between severed tongue and chemical body. In Bondbondbond, voices entangle, seek each other in a delirious, sensual chiaroscuro where pleasure derails into compulsion. It's a dogma-free ceremony, a game of inverted masks. Alether _ a live-explosive track and perhaps the most powerful of this first project _ shatters frameworks: convulsive dancing, possessed rhythms drowned by waves of guitar. Finally, Ferreri, cook for us closes the EP as a dark farce: a deviant homage to Italian filmmaker Marco Ferreri, the track chews and regurgitates words as if digesting an overfed world. Recorded in the chaos of DIY and mixed as a raw work, the record captures Dééfait's electric discharge in its purest state. The sound is dirty, visceral, possessed. Think Terminal Cheesecake, Boredoms, Nick Cave-era Birthday Party on acid, but also CAN impaled on an autopsy table, or a Giallo under a strobe light_ Yet it emerges as a singular work.

Two decades into their existence, Elder remain an anomaly in the heavy underground - a band with the ability to absorb and shed influences from a myriad of genres without falling into pastiche or losing their identity. Their new album Through Zero is a reaffirmation of their commitment to pushing boundaries and cements their status as leaders in heavy psychedelic rock. Elder has long since mastered crushing riffs, melodic jaunts, progressive patterns, hypnotic grooves and ethereal atmosphere along their path of music-making in the past twenty years. On Through Zero, Elder takes these years of experience and forms possibly their most immediate and engaging record to date, while allowing seeds from outside the sphere of rock music to take root and bloom within their progressive framework. Listeners will find familiar elements of new textures, sequences, and sounds alongside Elder"s iconic take on heavy rock. As always, every spin reveals new details. Recorded in Berlin across several months between tours in 2025, Through Zero is the first album which the band not only produced but also comixed together with longtime collaborator Richard Behrens. As Amy recalls: “We recorded and wrote over the afternoon… we’d never played together before that day… it’s spontaneous, and fun and achievable in that time because to us it sounded more than good and we weren’t perfectionists and it didn’t matter.”

Yaka slips into the APPX catalogue a hi-def 8 part narrative. Coated in silky sonic camouflage the Philadelphian sound designer, producer, and apparent amphibophile, conjures an aquatic instrument-rack straight out the estuary, and re-engineers it into a kind of amphibient-bass eco-system: part poolside bio-luminescence, part Severn-side subsidence. Welling with emotion ‘Dream Big’ is a joyride with your favourite frog-sage homies. It’s devotional, yes, but with a wink. Orchestrated by a bayou-mystic who’s just as likely to kiss the ring-modulator as they is to throw a shaka from his boogie board as they carves a line down stream.

The opening track “chrysalis of peace” builds like a choral summoning, beckoning you outward. “blubstep” shakes itself off and stretches into scattered breaks, sprinkles of underworld energy flickering beneath the surface. On “la pari,” the daemons find their stride in a huge leap into bass, punctuated by vocal satire, kitschy melodic fun, and an Amazonian sweat capable of humidifying any dancefloor. “miss that beach” slows the A-side into a thoughtful drift on a lilo, the distant sounds of cousins playing while wind lifts leaves overhead.

Flipping the disc, “buggged” arrives as a beat you can imagine bounding out of a Timbaland studio, tiptoeing in and out of 4/4 club jack. “back at the pad” breaks stride with a halftime depth that keeps you poised, like the surface tension of a water droplet in zero gravity. “weavin’ web” threads ascending melodic patterns over raised nodules of rhythm. Closing the album, “secret dream” dissolves into a private horizon — something half-remembered, half-invented — left for the listener to discover on their own.

Their work blends emotive aquatic ambience, thick bass layering, and playful rhythmic structures, with an essence that sits somewhere between spiritual and satirical. Their earlier releases Somewhere In That Water introduced a practice rooted in the melancholic and bitter-sweet cuteness dipped in a deep affinity for wet environments.
Beyond their solo work, Yaka co-operates Inner Most, a label run between Philadelphia and Reykjavík alongside Echinacea. The imprint has become a home for boundary-blurring electronic music and features a number of Appendix.files favourites, including a release by our own secret getii, reinforcing a shared ethos of porous scenes and cross-continental collaboration.

The resulting 4 remixes are every bit as hypnotic and persuasive as you would hope for from productions fresh out the soundlabs of Michael Fiedler aka GHOST DUBS and Kevin Richard Martin under his dancefloor destroying Bug alias. Both producers intensify the desolate mood of the originals but introduce demolition inducing beats which provide the literally irresistible momentum. Echoes of the originals are respected and heard throughout, but the extra gear shifts pay off brilliantly.

Guaranteed to push serious air, and test the most powerful of sub woofers, these 4 remixes vary from heavy to superheavyweight. i.e. GHOST DUBS outputs a deliriously stoned headnod with his zonal refix of 'When I'm Gone', which miraculously sounds both subtley mysterious, but monolithically huge, whilst The Bug prowls ice cold, on the noirish, narcotic, instrumental hip hop of 'Too Human', which sounds like prime Mobb Deep mixed by Rhythm & Sound' at 16 bpm.

Abseits der kommerziellen NDW entstand eine kreative Parallelwelt: Bands zwischen Post-Punk, New Wave, Synth-Pop und Avantgarde veröffentlichten ihre Musik in kleinsten Auflagen oder im DIY-Kontext - roh, kantig und radikal eigenständig. Die hier versammelten Tracks spiegeln eine Zeit zwischen Aufbruch und Unsicherheit wider, geprägt von "No Future"-Attitüde, politischem Druck und künstlerischer Freiheit. Tanzbar, direkt und oft überraschend eingängig: Sowas von Egal Vol. 3 macht vergessene Schätze wieder hörbar - und holt sie zurück auf den Dancefloor.

Es gibt keine andere Band wie Angel Du$t. Tatsächlich ist diese einzigartige Gruppe fast schon dadurch definiert, wie sehr sie sich von der Masse abhebt. Wenn es also klar ist, dass Angel Du$t mit niemandem zu vergleichen ist, wie sind sie dann? Sind sie bahnbrechende Genre-Zerstörer oder eine der letzten echten Gitarrenbands? Oder wie Sänger/Mastermind Justice Tripp es ausdrückt: Angel Du$t ist Rock 'n' Roll." COLD 2 THE TOUCH fängt diese einfache Tatsache besser ein als je zuvor. Die 26 Minuten eklektischer und knallharter Musik machen deutlich, dass Angel Du$t sich nicht in die Grenzen enger Subgenres pressen lässt und dass ein so elementarer Begriff wie Rock n' Roll tatsächlich wie angegossen passt. Dies ist das seit langem offenste und wildeste Album der Band eine Mischung aus harten Riffs und großen Hooks, die durch Tripps offenherzigen Existentialismus ergänzt werden. Die letzten beiden Songs des Albums, The Knife" und The Beat", fassen genau zusammen, was Angel Du$t zu einer so besonderen Band macht. Es ist ein kreatives Unterfangen, bei dem offenherzige Gedanken über die Endlichkeit des Lebens mit der ungezügelten Spannung gewalttätiger Riffs koexistieren können, bei dem echte Menschlichkeit gedeihen kann und es vor allem darauf ankommt, sich selbst und seinem eigenen Spektrum an Gedanken, Interessen und Gefühlen treu zu bleiben. ,Mount Zero", das Debütalbum von Swapmeet, ist ein mitreißender, gitarrenlastiger Road Trip, der an den Slowcore und Alternative Rock der 90er und frühen 2000er Jahre erinnert und diesen Stil neu belebt. Es markiert den Moment, in dem das australische Quartett zu seiner eigenen Identität findet. Nach ihrer verträumten Debüt-EP ,Oxalis" aus dem Jahr 2024 erscheint ,Mount Zero" kurz nach der Unterzeichnung des Bandvertrags beim in LA ansässigen Label Winspear, nachdem sie in ganz Australien für Aufsehen gesorgt hatten, bei den South Australian Music Awards Auszeichnungen für die beste Veröffentlichung und den besten Song (,Ceiling Fan") mit nach Hause nahmen und bei SXSW Sydney den Titel ,Bester Newcomer" erhielten. ,Mount Zero" verbindet luftige Sanftheit mit schrägem Surrealismus und verwandelt so viele der Bedauern und Unsicherheiten des jungen Erwachsenenalters in ein aufkeimendes, neu gewonnenes Selbstvertrauen. Obwohl die Mitglieder von Swapmeet ihre Songs oft zunächst einzeln schreiben, drehten sich die Titel auf ,Mount Zero" letztendlich um gemeinsame Themen: erste Lieben, erste Liebeskummer, erste Peinlichkeiten, erste Katastrophen. Wie schon seit ihren Anfängen als Band tauschten Swapmeet auch bei ,Mount Zero" die Instrumente untereinander aus und teilten sich die Produktionsaufgaben als Quartett. Sie entwickelten ihren Sound, indem sie Dutzende (manchmal Hunderte) von Spuren in jedem Song übereinanderlegten und dann sorgfältig Elemente entfernten, bis die Produktion eine klare Form annahm. Das Ergebnis ist ein Album, auf dem Swapmeet die zähneknirschende Intensität einfangen, die man empfindet, wenn man sich unter dem unerbittlichen Druck der Realität auf zellulärer Ebene verändert. Es ist eine Hommage an all die Leben, die niemals gelebt werden können, an all die Wege, die niemals beschritten werden - und zugleich eine Ode an das Leben, das direkt vor uns liegt.
