Als Pioniere des Goth 'n' Roll suchen THE 69 EYES seit mittlerweile 33 Jahren die Bühnen dieser Welt heim und wurden somit zu einem wahrlich unsterblichen Teil der Dark Rock/Metal-Szene.

Allgemein auch bekannt als die Helsinki Vampires hat das Quintett mit Kultalben wie "Blessed Be" und "Paris Kills" mehrmals Platin erreicht und in ihrem Heimatland Finnland nicht nur die Spitze der Single- und Albumcharts dominiert, sondern auch allgemein die Welt in einen
sündigen Kosmos aus Liebe, Tod und Melancholie gestürzt, und dabei mehr Langlebigkeit als jeder andere Act bewiesen, der damals aus dem Goth Hype der frühen 2000er entstand.

Mit der Weiterentwicklung ihres Sounds in Richtung Sleaze Rock auf "Devils"(2004) und "Angels"(2007), der majestätisch-dunklen Stimme und den Elvis-Moves von Sänger Jyrki 69, hat sich die Band mit ihren 12 Alben weltweit eine große Fanbasis aufgebaut und durch
unablässige Touren in Europa, Amerika, Asien und Australien weiter gefestigt. Mit dem neuen "Death Of Darkness" eröffnen sie ein neues Hard Rock Kapitel ihrer langen Karriere und bleiben ihrem Sound weiter treu.

"Threads of Unknowing" ist eine Reise, die frühere Konzepte wieder aufleben lässt und immer progressivere und technischere Kompositionen hervorbringt. Mastermind und Gitarrist/Sänger Garrett Johnson sowie Gitarrenvirtuose Phil Tougas (Atramentus, Chthe'ilist, Worm, First Fragment) teilen sich hier den Gesang und die Leadgitarre, während Bass-Gott Damon Good sowohl den bundierten als auch den fretless Bass meisterhaft beherrscht und Schlagzeuger Charlie Koryn nicht nur Geschwindigkeit und Brutalität, sondern auch eine feine Mischung aus Präzision und Improvisation aus dem Jazz-Fusion einbringt. Sowohl musikalisch als auch textlich. 14 Stücke, keine Ballade. Punkrock, Metalriffs, Violinen - dazu Texte über Daniel Johnston, Wall E und Eve, das Bethanien oder die Königin im Ritzen. Was wie eine Mixtur des Grauens klingt, ist auf "Sieben" geschlossen. Hinzu kommt eine Reihe an Gästen: Apokalypse Vega von Acht Eimer Hühnerherzen, Nadine Nevermore von NTÄ oder die Trierer Sängerin Hanna Landwehr seien hier exemplarisch genannt. Das Mastering von "Sieben" übernahm Andi "Dog" Jung in Berlin. Das Artwork stammt von André Nossek (Via Grafik), der bereits das Cover zu "Diene der Party" gestaltete.

Nach dem Release von "Inspirations" im Jahr 2021, ist "More Inspirations" das zweite Album mit Coverversionen, mit denen Saxon ihren musikalischen Einflüssen huldigen, die Inspirationen, die sie in ihrer über 40-jährigen Karriere begleitet haben.

Als erste Single kommt die überraschende Version von "The Faith Healer" der The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. Ob es ihre Version von "We've Gotta Get Out Of This Place" von den Animals ist oder das dynamische "From The Inside" von Alice Cooper oder aber die grimmig vorgetragene Version von Kiss' "Detroit Rock City", More Inspirations ist ein unkonventioneller Trip der Saxon Männer, die ihre
Musik noch heute im Original zu Hause und im Tour Bus hören.

Produziert wurde das Ganze von Biff Byford, aufgenommen mit der Hilfe seines Sohnes Seb Byford, gemixt von Jacky Lehmann.

More Inspirations beinhaltet passionierte Songs von Rainbow, ZZ Top und Cream, das dröhnende "Razamanaz? von Nazareth, eine eigene,
geschmackvolle Version von "Substitute? (The Who) oder das mit einem fetten Groove angereicherte "Gypsy? von Uriah Heep. Diese Aufnahmen zeigen deutlich, aus welcher Ecke Saxon kommen.

Nach dem großen Erfolg der Seize the World Tour 2022 kommt Saxon im März mit einigen Dates zurück auf Tour, diesmal mit den deutschen Metal-Titanen Rage als Support.

Tarotplane's new tape on Constellation Tatsu comes after many years of research and correspondence. They find him seeking to recreate the unique sound of the late great legend that is Manuel Gottsching. As such, his Aeonium album is a truly psychedelic treasure that fuses some magical moments from Krautrock as well as plenty of new and innovative sounds in between. It has twinkling cosmic melodies and sleek synth lines that are in constant flux. This one comes with great cover art in the form of a silkscreen from 1972 by Gernot Bubenik that captures the melting colours of the music.

Recorded in producer Dan Carey’s home studio alongside frequent collaborator Kwes Darko, UGLY is a fluid combination of musicians including Ethan P. Flynn, Jockstrap’s Taylor Skye, Beabadoobee guitarist Jacob Bugden, drummer Liam Toon, and on the dark and woozy title track, his friends Fontaines D.C.

Manuel Gottsching in Berlin; A 48-minute recording of one of the
sessions, which was released in 1995 under the title "Early Water" on
Bernd Kistenmacher's Musique Intemporelle label.The album was deletedand unavailable for a long time
Now, finally, a re-issue of "Early Water" will be available again.
Michael Hoenig still remembers: "While I had been working on the "Departure From The Northern Wasteland" album, Manuel Gottsching had asked me if I would team up with him for some concerts in France, since his group had just gone through one of its hibernation
periods. We rehearsed in my place for three or four weeks. One evening we got a call regarding some missing guarantee, which ultimately led to the decision to cancel the tour. Just for fun, we played one of the planned sets for a last time.
Even though I do not recall pressing a record button, somebody recently dug up a Revox tape of that very set. After performing some digital sonic archaeology on it, it was just released under the very appropriate title Early Water."
And Manuel Gottsching adds: "Unfortunately, some of the concert dates were not confirmed in time and we had to cancel the complete tour just on the day before we wanted to leave for France.
On that evening, nevertheless, we recorded our last rehearsal "just in case". It turned out as a flowing harmonic piece, reflecting much of the optimistic air of 1976. Michael made his 'departure' to Los Angeles in the early 1980ies. When we met again in November 1994 I proposed to release this old track of ours. Michael took the original tape to Los Angeles, lovingly restored it and - well, here is it again!"
