Incomparable Northern Irish songstress Janet Devlin is poised to release her courageous country-rock album, "Emotional Rodeo," on 15th November 2024. Recorded at Martina McBride’s Blackbird Studio in Nashville with esteemed producer Roo Walker, tracked by Lowell Reynolds (Shania Twain, Boy Genius, Taylor Swift) and mixed mostly at Spotnick Studios by Grammy-Award winning producer/mixer Vance Powell, (Chris Stapleton, Jack White) Devlin captures the heartfelt essence of country-rock with an authentic edge, blending sharp, witty lyrics with themes of fearless self-empowerment.

The folks at Castle Face dig a good trance. Hypnosis, mesmerization, and brain trickery are some of their favorite results of deep listening and it is a suggestive, ritualistic and dreamlike vibe that Bronze ooze like pheromones all over their excellent new record. Absolute Compliance is a truly hypnogogic group of tunes from Bronze on their best and weirdest behavior and it hits all Castle Face’s favorite things about them immediately and repeatedly: insistently strange synth voicings emanating from Miles Friction’s mad scientist’s lab worth of equipment, controlled by a homemade-looking oversized knob; Brian Hock’s throbbing, woolly, hall-of-mirror grooves; and above it all Rob Spector’s thousand yard croon, the vaguely familiar touchstone amongst these Lynchian, mutated surroundings—these are songs of dreams and nightmares, hidden rituals observed, futuristic coliseum entertainments displaced in time, sci-fi jams of an uncertain future. Bronze are one-of-a kind great and if unfamiliar, go find their other records (including their great live record for Castle Face) and get caught up. Baiana (pronounced By-Anna) is the alias of powerhouse Liverpool-born Brazilian jazz artist, Laura Doyle Following on from performances at Love Supreme, the Manchester Jazz festival, world famous jazz clubs The 606 and Pizza Express as well as an unprecedented 12 weeks on the A- list of the Jazz FM playlist, with her breakthrough single "Saudade Samba" Baiana's highly anticipated self- titled debut album is finally here. Produced by the legendary UK Latin percussionist, Snowboy, 'Baiana' features 11 finely crafted songs covering a huge range of Brazilian styles from fiery Sambas to Bossa Nova, Jazz Fusion to Baiao and everything in-between. Singing in both Portuguese and English, Laura evokes a vocal style reminiscent of the great romantic torch singers of the 40's and 50's such as Julie London and Peggy Lee and yet one can clearly also feel the passionate expression of Portuguese Fado and the Brazilian greats such as Elza Soares, Gal Costa and Elis Regina as she sings of love-lost and broken hearts. An unexpected candidate for Brazilian jazz with her Scouse accent and fiery red hair denoting her Irish roots, Laura became enraptured by Brazilian music after living in Rio de Janeiro where she was seconded as "first lady" with the Italian diplomatic service.

When we sat down and started writing again we didn't want to move away from that, but we are 15 years down the line now so reference points change. We've been through marriages, loss, having kids, some of us getting divorced, and I think that comes across in the music. It's still Little Man Tate... it's just Little Man Tate a bit more grown up!"

John Paterno returns to mix and master as he has done since No Sad Songs of
2015.Without conventional drums or bass their fondness for country and folk
hues are clearer. These are unequivocally and absolutely the best songs Stephen
Duffy has ever written in his twenty or so long playing album career. The first
single release is "A Makeshift Raft". A song that asks if those seeking freedom
need drown, then ponders the inevitability of continuous wars. It praises the
America of Allen Ginsberg before a few bars of yodelling. It ends by eulogises
fingers, guitars and songs of love. Something for everyone then. The song is
accompanied by a video created by Martin Carr.They love being who they are and
they love this album and they hope you will find time to dance till all the stars
come down with them.

Fellow violinist Stuff Smith marveled, "He plays violin like Coltrane plays saxophone." Born in 1942, the French violinist Jean- Luc Ponty transported jazz violin playing into the world of modern jazz. On Frank Zappa's urging, Ponty moved to the States in 1970. Over the next years he toured with Zappa, the Mahavishnu Orchestra, and Chick Corea's "Return to Forever".If Ponty's 1983 album Individual Choice was the sketchbook of his decision to take his music in a new direction, Open Mind (1984), released the following year, was a deeper
exploration of the emerging world of synthesizers and sequencers and their impact on live and studio performance. Here, complex rhythmic patterns shift in the background while new sounds appear and disappear on the surface in colorful bursts, and outstanding jazz improvisors create familiar music in new settings. It's almost an audio version of a kinetic wind sculpture.

Ponty chose to use a Roland rhythm machine instead of faking real drum and percussion sounds and played all the keyboard parts himself in order to further explore the concept he had introduced in Individual Choice. He additionally asked two longtime friends to solo on various tracks: George Benson, whom JLP had met and played with when they were both 21 years old, and Chick Corea, who
excels on two tracks with his Moog synthesizer. Open Mind has been re-mastered by 2023 Grammy Nominee Christoph Stickeland includes new liner notes.
