VOCES8, das international gefeierte britische Vokalensemble, präsentiert auf seinem neuen Album ”A Choral Christmas” ein fröhliches musikalisches Weihnachtsspektakel voller funkelnder, filmischer Neuarrangements beliebter Weihnachtslieder des US Komponisten Taylor Scott Davis. Das Album enthält mehrere Weltersteinspielungen brandneuer Werke und Bearbeitungen, darunter das Herzstück des Albums, ein bedeutendes neues Werk für Chor und Orchester, Taylor Scott Davis’ umwerfende Vertonung des Magnificat. Zu hören ist außerdem das ruhige und intime neue A cappella-Lied „The Sleeping Child“ des britischen Komponisten Bob Chilcott, das speziell für VOCES8 geschrieben wurde. ”A Choral Christmas” ist die bisher umfangreichste Aufnahme von VOCES8 - mit dem VOCES8 Foundation Choir und dem Orchester zum ersten Mal, mit Instrumentalsolisten und unter der Leitung des VOCES8 Mitbegründers und Countertenors Barnaby Smith.

On January 10, 1963, recording sessions for this world premiere recording of Britten's War Requiem were completed in London. In 2023, sixty years later, Decca has made new high-resolution 24-bit/192 kHz transfers of the original quarter-inch stereo master tapes at British Grove Studios for the best possible sound quality. Conducted by the composer and featuring the three soloists (Galina Vishnevskaya, Peter Pears, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau) for whom the work was written, this still remains for many the reference recording par excellence. The truly comprehensive companion book includes excerpts from John Culshaw's autobiography, "Putting the Record Straight," recollections from three members of the original 1963 Decca recording team, technical notes, extensive essays on the War Requiem and the recording sessions, and rare, never-before-seen photographs.

This reissue set features a pink and grey marble 2LP, which features live BBC live sessions tracks made available for the first time on vinyl.

Nuvole Bianche "White Clouds" was written for Ludovico Einaudi's hugely popular seminal album Una Mattina. This 7" vinyl also contains the beautifully sung version with Alessia Tonda and will be pressed on blue vinyl for the very first time.

1968’s Love Cry mixes Albert Ayler’s free jazz with a catchy combination of nursery rhythms and brass band marches, resulting in a peak example of experimental jazz of the period. This was Ayler’s last recording with his brother, Donald, who keeps the pace fiery along with the rhythm section of bassist Alan Silva and drummer Milford Graves, and harpsichordist Call Cobbs.
This Verve By Request title is pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Third Man in Detroit.
