21In 1970, at the invitation of Sérgio Mendes, Brazilian songwriter Edu Lobo travelled to Los Angeles to record for A&M Records. During this period, he also recorded his masterpiece, Cantiga de Longe, reissued by Week-End Records in September 2026. More than half a century later, Lobo’s music continues to inspire new generations of artists—including Sergio Sayeg, better known as Sessa.
With his intimate, quietly captivating songwriting, Sessa brings the spirit of Brazil’s golden era of MPB into the present. His deep affection for Lobo’s music made him a natural choice for this collaboration: we invited him to reinterpret “Zanzibar,” one of the album’s standout tracks, in his own unmistakable style.
A meeting of two generations, connected by a shared musical sensibility—available in a strictly limited physical edition of just 500 copies.
