Since first splashing on to the Southern California circuit in the mid-aughts, Geneva Jacuzzi (née Garvin) quickly cemented herself as the queen of the Los Angeles underground. Her immersive and unhinged multimedia performances are the stuff of legend, a psychotropic gallery of masks, costumes, confrontation, and massive art installations. Opener “Laps of Luxury” sets the template – a strobe-lit dreamer’s delight of swaggering synth bass, Haçienda drum machinery, and sultry vocal spellcasting (“Tragic mysteries I’ve known for centuries / I burned all memories and turned to fantasy”). The collection burns through shades of sardonic strut (“Art Is Dangerous,” “Nu2U,” “Keep It Secret”), coldwave kiss off (“Speed Of Light,” co-produced by Andrew Clinco of Drab Majesty), retro-futurist body music (“Dry,” “Scene Ballerina,” “Bow Tie Eater”), and cheeky glitterball pop (“Take It Or Leave It,” “Heart Full Of Poison” co-produced by Roderick Edens and Andrew Briggs). She likens the eclectic spectrum of moods to the continuum of human emotions: “Funny, sexy, sad, scary, witty, hopeful, menacing. Eventually it deconstructs, turns into a party, and then ends sweet and soft.”



Taken as a whole, Triple Fire comes as close as any document yet to capturing Jacuzzi’s kaleidoscopic alchemy of pop sugar and chaos energy, flickering between icy and ironic, chic and surreal, hungry and heartsick. Hers is a muse as rare as it is regenerative, forever reborn at the precipice of the next chorus: “Someone said that Alcatraz had fallen into the sea / Almost sounded like an angel calling me in a dream / I felt an electric shock when I picked up the microphone.”

Drawn in part from the CocoQuantus synth, built by a man Ruscha describes as 'too weird for Buchla', Seeing Frequencies rides high on tremolo waves and organic vibrations, rooted in ambient, Balearic and Kosmische music traditions, while simultaneously engaging in a dialogue with the synaesthetic qualities of Ruscha’ painting practice.

Allowing the music to flow through him, Ruscha describes the optimum moment of creation as one he imagines for the listener too. 'I really love when music forces you to forget,' he explains. 'There's this beautiful moment where everything coalesces, and you just don’t think about anything.'

Wir würden diesen Vergleich gerne zu den Akten legen, denn Bulldozer blasen Venom auf "IX" aus den Socken. Bulldozer tun das, was die meisten Venom-Verehrer taten, aber auf dieser Veröffentlichung haben sie eindeutig mehr eigene Identität. Bulldozer hatten mehrere gute Alben, aber keines davon erreichte die Qualität von "IX". Die Bulldozer Alben vor "IX" hatten unter einer schlechten Produktion gelitten. Wir wissen, dass eine raue Produktion zur Ästhetik des Black Metal beiträgt, aber wenn sich die Lautstärke der Gitarren ändert, obwohl dies nicht der Fall sein sollte, wird das zu einem Problem. Der Mix ist hier ausgewogen und die Produktion ist immer noch sehr roh. Das erlaubt den Instrumenten zu dröhnen, aber immer noch in der richtigen Lautstärke zu
sein.

Originally entitled Screwed, and then Paris Is Burning, the record—finally simply entitled Paris—came out in 2006. And it was…uh… good? Yeah, for real. This record goes expensively pedicured cuticle to cuticle with anything Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson or any other pop culture chanteuse of the like ever put out, and the Paris the heiress displays some real savvy both in her taste of material and the Madonna-like manipulation of her sex symbol image. And her voice? Definitely respectable despite what the haters said. Indeed, the single “Stars Are Blind” went top 20, and the album itself went all the way up to #6, selling over 600,000 copies worldwide. Since Paris has finally answered the pleas of her fans and made a second album, we thought the time was right for a revival of Paris, so we’ve taken the fetching photos from the CD package and given them plenty of acreage to show their stuff, with a gatefold jacket and 4-color printed inner sleeve. And for this release, we’re pressing Paris’ album in her favorite color, pink…and of course it’s hot! A pop culture keepsake from an enduring pop culture icon!

Francesco Anselmo, also known as Lee Selmoco, Dorsey Dodd, Alex Brown, Arsenio Bracco or Tommy Ruff, is an Italian keyboardist that covered the role of of artistic director for Vedette Records, historical Italian imprint founded by director and violinist Armando Sciascia, and also recorded for its notorious Phase 6 Super Stereo, its sub-label focused on instrumental records and production music.

"Mosaico (Le Tastiere Di Lee Selmoco)" is an incredible display of his creative and composing skills, featuring 14 tracks of what could be classified as "happy music", with killer electric organ and rhythms alternating with fuzzy guitars and spacey / psychedelic hints thrown in for good measures, written alongside Guido Baggiani, alias Ruscigan. First Aid Kit neu bei Sony Music: nach den beiden Independent-Alben "The Big Black & The Blue" (2010) und "The Lion's Roar" (2012, beide Wichita Recordings) veröffentlichen Klara (21) und Johanna Söderberg (23) mit "Stay Gold" ihr drittes Album nun bei Columbia Records. Die Söderberg-Schwestern stammen aus dem Stockholmer Vorort Enskede, wo sie 2007 damit begannen, eigene Songs zu schreiben. Bereits ein Jahr später nahm sie das The Knife-Label Rabid Records unter Vertrag, bei dem im selben Jahr die Debüt-EP "Drunken Trees" erschien. Der Re-Release der EP beim Indielabel Wichita Recordings 2009 enthielt zusätzlich eine Coverversion des Fleet Foxes-Stückes "Mountain Peasant Song", mit dem First Aid Kit 2008 bei YouTube für Furore gesorgt hatten.

Nachdem den beiden mit dem Debütalbum "The Big Black & The Blue" der Einzug in die Top 30 der schwedischen Charts gelungen war, schafften sie gleich mit dem zweiten Longplayer "The Lion's Roar" den internationalen Durchbruch.

Vibes player Johnny Lytle was one of the heroes of the early acid jazz club circuit, with his cut 'Selim' being an anthem of the scene.

The Ohio born player had made his name at Riverside where his 1965 album "The Village Caller" made him a star. When Riverside ceased trading, owner Orrin Keepnews collaborated with Lytle on two albums which came out on the Detroit label, Tuba

Ace reissued the first album “The Loop” last year (HIQLP 115). We are delighted to now put out the second, “New And Groovy”. The line-up features Milt Harris (organ) Wynton Kelly (piano), George Duvivier (bass) “Peppy” Hinnant or Jimmy Cobb (drums) Montego Joe (congas) and Lytle on vibes. The band power through a selection of original material such as ‘The Snapper’, ‘The Pulpit’ and ‘Screamin’ Loud’. The album also contains Lytle’s radical reworking of Miles Davis' 'Miles' which Lytle retitles 'Selim'. With poor distribution, “New And Groovy” barely made it to the shops back in 1967 and was ignored for twenty years until DJs such as Bob Jones and Gilles Peterson started playing it in the 80s making it a sought-after LP.

The popularity of “New And Groovy” has remained, and this is first time it has been legally reissued on vinyl. “Snapper one up…!”

Lockdown times saw a viral moment for the song "haunt me (x3)", a cult-classic catalog track featured on the 2015 Run For Cover reissue of the band's two beloved EPs dc snuff film and waste yrself. Now the band returns with what could be their next classic record, 16 songs that oscillate between noisy garage-rock, intimate acoustic songs and even blistering powerviolence in the vein of 2016's ambitious double album it's the big joyous celebration, let's stir the honeypot. The song first resurged in the 90s when it was synced on ‘The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air’ bringing the world ‘The Carlton Dance’, and many times since Along Came Jones, the debut album from Tom Jones, contains the monumental hit ‘It’s Not Unusual’ alongside a beautiful renditions of ‘Autumn Leaves’ and Spanish Harlem. Presented on vinyl for the first time since it’s release, this will be a real collectors item for Tom Jones fans worldwide.

Elvis Presley was undoubtedly Sun Records’ biggest star, burning brightly during his tenure at the label from 1953 to 1955. 2024 marks the 70th anniversary of the release of Elvis’ first single, “That’s All Right,” on Sun Records. This collection is Elvis as interpreted by his Sun contemporaries like Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, and Roy Orbison, sharing their versions of songs Elvis made famous. Special additions include alternate versions of tracks from Johnny Cash, Sleepy LaBeef, and more.

BONA DISH waren eine lottrige Pop Punk Band aus den Dörfern von Hertfordshire, die die Liebe zu den VELVETS, den SUPREMES und zueinander vereinte. Sie waren cool, gutaussehnend und farbenprächtig. Regardless if you immediately associate the term metamorphosis with any kind of evolutionary adjustment, with shapeshifting, the complex transformation of music or if you simply think about the distinctive mark the last two years have left on basically each and everyone of us, it’s easy to agree that “Metamorphose“ is just the perfect title for JakoJako’s debut album for Bigamo.

While others fell into a state of shock, JakoJako has made perfect use of the compulsory extra studio time regulated by the pandemic, developing and specifying a sound she instantly attracted attention with, as soon as she entered the scene in 2019 with her release on Leisure System.

“Metamorphose“ is one of those albums that can easily quiet a bustling room in an instant, regardless if you’re a connoisseur of this kind of music or not. Record producer, composer, singer, and pioneer of the dub music genre Lee Scratch Perry passed away in August 2021. His influence over popular music since the 1970s is hugely significant, with artists including Bob Marley & The Wailers, The Clash, Beastie Boys, Max Romeo, Junior Murvin and The Orb all enriched by Perry’s legendary touch, innovative studio techniques and production style.

Conceived, written and recorded during the COVID pandemic, ‘King Perry’ was produced by Daniel Boyle, and features guest performances from Greentea Peng, Shaun Ryder, Tricky, Marta, Rose Waite and Fifi Rong. Two tracks were also co-produced with Tricky, who releases Perry’s last recorded performances on his False Idols label.

Over a career spanning six decades, Lee Scratch Perry left the music world with a huge catalogue of albums, productions and appearances that cannot be underestimated. Releases for Island Records, Trojan, Adrian Sherwood’s On-U Sound, Mad Professor’s Ariwa...the list goes on. It was in 2014 that Perry teamed up with UK producer Daniel Boyle, and from this collaboration came the Grammy nominated album ‘Back At The Controls’ and was followed up five years later with the ‘Black Album’.

The ‘King Perry’ album was born out of a request from Perry that he “wanted to do something new, something different but still with a dub framework”. And so, armed with influences as diverse as synthwave, big beat, drum & bass and electronica, Boyle and Perry traded ideas, beats and lyrics in a project that continued to grow as its various guest performers were added, resulting in a kaleidoscopic and engaging melting pot of rhythms, melodies, and voices. Poignantly, closing track ‘Goodbye’ was Perry’s last ever recorded vocal performance.

In recent years, NOFX have released their first ever double album in the form of 'Single Album' (2021), followed by 'Double Album' a year later. What fans didn't know was that wasn't all this masterpiece had to offer. NOFX's first and only double album has a fifth side! The 5 tracks on "Half Album" are not just a remnant of that session, but an integral part that holds the whole project together.

Shrouded in mystery, hailing from Hamburg, Germany, Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band (BRSB) releases their long awaited debut “55” on Brooklyn’s own Big Crown Records. Long time multi-instrumentalist and band leader Bjorn Wagner spent a few months in Trinidad & Tobago where he became fascinated with Steel Drums. His initial intrigue with local steel pan music culture led him to learning the instrument both through help of local players and on his own. After he became proficient on the pans Bjorn had his own instrument built from a used oil barrel by legendary pan man Louis C. Smith. Upon returning home to Germany, Bjorn set out to blend the Tropical Steel into his already sharply honed Funk, Soul, and Hip-Hop sensibilities. The outcome is an updated take on a classic format, a truly unique sound. Their first two recordings were covers of The Meters “Look A-Py-Py” & “Ease Back” which they self-released on a 45. Looking back on these two sides you can tell they were just getting their chops up for what was to come next. This is evidenced by how all hell broke loose when they went on to cover 50 Cent’s hit PIMP taking the DJ and vinyl collecting communities by storm. Many people thought the recording was the original sample and probably still do to this day when it is played. The original Mocambo pressing sold out quickly and is now a collector’s item fetching heavy prices when it changes hands. It was this tune that made the introduction between Bjorn and Danny Akalepse of Big Crown. They immediately hit it off and started making plans to do a full length project with the band. Keeping in the tradition of Steel Drum records, 55 is a journey through re-interpolations and covers with an updated approach, pushing Steel Pan music to uncharted territory. Flawlessly bringing previously untouched genres into the steel pan cannon ranging from Underground Hip Hop tunes to staple Funk tracks and some of all that falls in between. BRSB’s 55 is reinvigorating tunes both well-known and helping to shed some light on tunes still largely undiscovered. However, some of the strongest tunes on the album are original compositions, from spaced out Disco vibes on “Beetham Highway Ride” and “Port Of Spain Hustle” to the ugly face inspiring drums of “Laventille Road March”. Recorded to analog 8 track tape at The Mocambo Studios in Hamburg, 55 is a gritty, punchy journey in sound drawing on music from around the world, using production aesthetics from across both eras and genres, all coming together seamlessly. Released in March 2003, “Home” was Simply Red’s eighth album. It was preceded by Top Ten hit
“Sunrise”, (which includes the sample of Hall & Oates “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)”), earning a
Double Silver Disc for sales of 400,000. The album also includes three more hits in “Fake”, “Home”
and the fabulous cover of The Stylistics’ “You Make Me Feel Brand New”, which reached number 7.
• The album peaked at number 2 in the UK album charts, and went on to qualify for a Double Platinum
Disc for sales of 600,000.
• This 20th Anniversary Edition has been newly mastered from the original production tapes, and is
housed in a new gatefold sleeve. The inner sleeve features the lyrics, credits and a previously unseen
photo, and the record is pressed on 180g black vinyl.
