Chrysalis Catalogue präsentiert 'Copperopolis' erstmals auf Vinyl, begleitet von einer Auswahl von Bonustracks. Ursprünglich im Juni 1996 veröffentlicht, sollte 'Copperopolis' das letzte Studioalbum von Grant Lee Buffalo mit der Originalbesetzung aus Grant-Lee Phillips, Paul Kimble und Joey Peters sein.

This two-time Grammy nominee’s career has taken Cidny from singing back-up on tour with Elton John, working with Bob Dylan, Rod Stewart, and singing three lead vocals on the “Grease” movie
soundtrack to having nine critically acclaimed solo albums, including the award winning Somewhere Between Heaven and Earth. Cid’s friends on the albums include friends Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda
Williams, Steve Earle, Bryan Adams, Emmylou Harris, Delbert McClinton, and Sir Elton John himself.

Cidny has also co-written many Country songs in Nashville, including Radney Foster’s hit “Hammer and Nails”. Since 2007, Cidny has been one-third of “super-group”, The Refugees with Wendy Waldman and Deborah Holland. In 2011, Cidny made the difficult and daunting decision to start transitioning from female to male, from Cindy to Cidny. He has written and has been performing his one-person theatrical show Somewhere Between: Not An Ordinary Life all over the U.S. An award-winning documentary short about his life called The Gender Line screened at major film festivals around the world from 2019-2022. Cid will be releasing his first album as “Cidny Bullens” Little Pieces in the fall of 2023. Cid’s memoir, TransElectric: My Life as a Cosmic Rock Star, with foreword by Sir Elton John was released on June 6, 2023, and is now available for purchase at all major bookstore sites.

Speaking about her new concert album, Lyytinen said: "When playing live, you've got one moment to get it right, and then the moment is gone. There is no correcting stuff later, so it is very raw and exciting to play and sing at the same time. The adrenaline runs through your body, and everything around you affects your performance."

The release marks Erja Lyytinen's fourth live album, and follows on from Songs from the Road, Live in London and Lockdown Live. The album is the first concert release from the gifted guitarist to capture the post- Covid live experience.

"Diamonds on the Road was recorded towards the end of our Spring tour in March 2023," she says. "We played ten shows in a row, of which eight were sold out.

David Bowies siebtes Studioalbum " PIN UPS" ist in doppelter Hinsicht ein besonderes, denn nicht nur ist es eine Sammlung von Coversongs, sondern zugleich das letzte, das er als sein Alter Ego Ziggy Stardust und mit seiner Begleitband The Spiders from Mars veröffentlichte. Kommenden Monat jährt sich die Veröffentlichung zum 50. Mal - das Album erschien ursprünglich am 19. Oktober 1973, gerade einmal sechs Monate nach dem legendären " ALADDIN SANE" und drei Monate nach der berüchtigten letzten Ziggy-Stardust-Show im Hammersmith Odeon, bei der er zusammen mit The Spiders From Mars die Rolle des Ziggy zu Grabe trug.

Am 20. Oktober 2023, einen Tag nach dem Goldenen Jubiläum, wird "PIN UPS" in einer limitierten Auflage als LP im Half Speed Mastering veröffentlicht. The music of Justin Walter veers between nebulous and numinous, coaxed from the translucent tonalities of his signature instrument, the EVI (Electronic Valve Instrument).
Destroyer, his latest, and third for Kranky, marks his most multifaceted work yet. Inspired by minimalistic urges (evading grandiosity, condensing scope, embracing spatial restraint) tempered with the drama of triptychs (becoming, destruction, aftermath), the album’s 11 tracks thread a keening suite of aching, opaque beauty, traced in absence and breath.
First begun in the no man’s land summer of 2020, Walter gradually amassed nearly two hours of demos, drafts, and ideas, then steadily whittled them to their essence. Destroyer enlists the sounds of a recently restored pump organ, adding pulses and quaking texture, but otherwise the album is a shimmering showcase of the EVI: miasmic, melodic, intuitive, infinite. It’s music of fraught devotion and uneasy peace, questing yet languorous, forever rapt and untethered.

Polish jazz rebels sneaky jesus are back with their second studio album For Chaching Taphed.The highly imaginative quartet out of Wroclaw comprising Maciej Forreiter (Guitar), Matylda Gerber (Saxophones), Ben Łasiewick i(Bass) and Filip Baczyński (Drums) have won fans around the world for their restless, quirky brand of jazz which takes in breakbeats, twisting chord progressions and improvisation as well as a wealth of musical influences.

The band have been touring their asses off ever since they surprised the world with their debut album For Joseph Riddle in 2021. From out of nowhere their debut LP of 500 copies sold out in a month and they quickly went on to sell close to 1,000 CDs of the album. Fast-forward to 2023 and the band are sharing stages with artists such as Ill Considered and Theon Cross.

For Chaching Taphed was created in complete isolation. The group locked itself in a barn at the Museum of Agricultural Technology in Piotrowice Świdnickie. It worked on its sophomore output surrounded by machinery, trucks and carriages. These new compositions mirror the abstract conversations which the group frequently has just for fun. Contrary to For Joseph Riddle, this album is simple and does not rely on ongoing grooves. This enabled the group to be much more experimental. The band was joined by friends Flautist Mariya Mavko on Piękno Niemożliwe (Impossible Beauty) and her playing is sampled in Hipotetyczny Taras (Hypothetical Terrace). Pięciu Pszczelarzy (Five Beekeepers) closes the album featuring EABS' Jakub Kurek on trumpet. His fiery solo is one of the most intense moments of the album.

Spacer Po Nadodrzu (A walk around Nadodrze) opens the album and is inspired by one of the districts of Wrocław. It is a sonic story depicting a walk through Nadodrze late at night. A steady bass rhythm imitates a careful pace and the responding sax line is a spooky theme that might pop to oneʼs head in a moment of uncertainty.

The album's first single Krztusiec (Whooping Cough) finds the group diving head first into their most recent influences. The trackstarts with drum improvisation, rolling into a solid hip-hop backbeat provided by Ben Łasiewicki on Bass and Drummer Filip Baczyński. Sax and Guitar weave steady but dissonant lines, written by Maciej Forreiter after many hours spent listening to the Ethiopian jazz greats. The track takes off right after that. Matylda Gerber delivers a fiery Sax solo, while the group picks up the tempo and quickens the groove. The essence is the middle section, a dubby collective improvisation. Forreiter, Gerber and Baczyński take turns playing both classic dub phrases and fierce avant grade lines. Łasiewicki keeps everybody in check with a steady bassline. The energy slows down until Baczyński's drum solo, which explores phrasing detached from the rest of the tune.

Second single Chiński Sprzedawca Smażonych Kasztanów (Chinese roasted chestnut seller) is a fusion of breakbeats, energized songo rhythms and motifs inspired by South African melodies. Presenting the group with spacious and rhythmic horn lines, guitarist Maciej Forreiter wrote a chord progression while Beniamin Łasiewicki and Filip Baczyński took care of the rhythm section. This first part of the track suddenly drops out and explodes into the dramatic main motif which includes double sax and fierce guitar playing in harmony, plus the rhythm section playing more and more jungle-esque. Powerful guitar and sax solos feature before we return to the main theme with a completely different rhythmic backdrop.

W Klatce z Bykiem (In a cage with a Bull), starts like a race. The music plays with an incredible nerve and when the theme is right on edge it suddenly stops. It is followed by an animalistic growl on the saxophone and a doom metal-esque bash of downtuned, distorted guitars and heavy drums. In this heavy fashion it slowly approaches the finishing line hitting one final metallic clang.

Piękno Niemożliwe (Impossible Beauty) features wonderful flute playing of Mariya Mavko (Kadabra Dyskety Kusaje). Her work in the opening motif evokes sounds of Polish and Ukrainian folklore. This brief mellow moment serves as a contrast to the usual frantic sounds of sneaky jesus. It is an appreciation of thepolish jazz music of the past, intrinsically-linked to folklore. The band took this idea and reworked it into their own unique style.

Hipotetyczny Taras (Hypothetical Terrace) is built on top of a lengthy vamp in an unusual 7/8 time-signature. The bass anchors the quartet in a simple line, while the rest of the quartet share an emotional conversation. This track is the most open of the whole project and it ends accordingly. The final burst is a call back to the basics ofspiritual jazzand the whole band shows every emotion simultaneously and gracefully fades out.

Pięciu Pszczelarzy (Five Beekeepers) is For Chaching Taphed's conclusion and is a non stop assault of heavy horn lines, punk rhythms and noise. The band is joined by the extraordinary trumpeter Jakub Kurek from EABS, who blends in perfectly with sax and guitar. His exchange of solos with Maciej Forreiter is a combination of classic jazz phrasing and discordant clatter. In the same fierce manner the whole group works within the motif, switching up accents and breaks.

In the short space of two years, sneaky jesus has gone from ambitious upstart looking to break out from its home city playing spit and sawdust venues, to touring Europe as well as prestigious Jazz clubs such as Jassmine in Warsaw. In the process, it has delivered two full-length albums that don't stay in lane or pander to established jazz sub-genres as so many groups do. Some artists make the same record twice or even more than that, but not sneaky jesus. For Chaching Taphed shows the band as restless, experimental, fun, irreverent but purposeful as never before.

“A lot of over-hyped improv / jazz projects out there at the moment and Sneaky Jesus are genuinely excellent and out on their own. Drawing on the expansive atmospherics of a barn as the recording's setting, the album immediately pulls you in with the unsettling 'Spacer Po Nadodrzu' and lifts off on 'Krztusiec', effortlessly moving from angular, abrasive jazz to trippy dub and cinematic intrigue. Tempos shift and intensities shift naturally. The whole set warrants a deep listen from start to finish and watch out for two great guest features from flautist Mariya Mavko and Jakub Kurek bringing some mad fuzz licks to the boisterous closer. Brilliant album.”

The heralded Minneapolis-based band Barbaro forges an exhilarating
new musical path on 'About the Winter', their inaugural outing for
StorySound Records
Featuring guitarist Kyle Shelstad, bassist Jason Wells, and violinist Rachel
Calvert, the dynamic young group developed a strong following for their
modernist bluegrass sound on their 2020 debut, 'Dressed in Roses'. Their new
album, however, represents a "coming of age" for Barbaro, according to Shelstad,
as it more authentically reflects the band's adventurous musical evolution over
the past few years. All three band members point to the title tune, "Let's Talk
About the Winter" as the song that established the tone for the album. The song,
Wells explains, "fully captured the soundscape that now defines us as a band."
The ten tracks on 'About the Winter' provide a wonderful showcase for the unique
dynamic created from Shelstad's string band roots blending with Calvert's and
Wells' backgrounds in classical music. The album also finds Barbaro expanding
its sound by having Shelstad share vocal duties with Calvert for the first time,
along with weaving electric instrumentation into the group's acoustic- based
music. The bandmates all agree on the key contributions of producer Brian
Joseph (Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens). "His production," Calvert revealed, "elevated
these tracks to an entirely different level." Together they have fashioned a
captivating pastoral Americana sound on 'About the Winter' that is both
traditional and progressive.
The new album adds to what has been already exciting time for Barbaro, who
were selected by the U.S. government to perform concerts and conduct music
workshops in Qatar, Turkey, and Bulgaria as part of its 2023 American Music
Abroad program.

Despite being known for his distinctive prepared piano sound, the Academy Award-winning composer intentionally named his 15th solo studio album PHILANTHROPY to express his compassion and openness. Hansard first gained an audience for the limber but emphatic indie rock he created as a member of The Frames, then gained international fame with fellow singer and songwriter Markéta Irglová in the duo The Swell Season, whose emotionally open, primarily acoustic indie folk became the centerpiece of the award-winning independent romantic drama Once. After going out on his own with his 2012 solo debut, Rhythm and Repose, Hansard has shown a stylistic diversity as he embraced the sound of "70s singer/songwriters on 2015"s Didn"t He Ramble, vintage soul on 2018"s Between Two Shores, and an eclectic swing between subtle folk and noisy indie rock on 2019"s This Wild Willing. Glen Hansard now presents All That Was East Is West Of Me Now, his first solo album in 5 years. The album demonstrates the Oscar-winning singer-songwriter"s unique ability to blend Irish folk with modern rock & the punch of his storied live shows.

A1 - Theia

Opening his Spatial account in an historic release for the label and a moniker dormant for over 25 years, JLM Productions opens the EP with Theia - a track which will take you right back to early Progression Sessions days - delicately introduced with blippy effects and hi hats, ushering in crisp metallic beats and relaxing padwork. The track develops continually with soothing melodies and amens added into the mix, resulting in a stunning and varied collage of finely tuned elements that never sound too busy to the ear - JLM Productions, welcome back!

A2 - Derealization

Changing things up while still showcasing the ability to combine a crazy level of detail into a cohesive mix, Derealization is a suspenseful, slightly moody track with JLM Productions laying down distinctive snappy breakbeats and sudden, fierce bassy hits, with tension rising from the eerie synthwork to envelop the listener throughout a track which demands repeated listens and will surely do damage on the discerning dancefloor.

AA1 - Quadrature

With a vibe reminiscent of his output in the mid-90's Reinforced era, JLM Productions drops Quadrature which takes that inspiration and brings it right up to date for Spatial in 2023, effortlessly combining synthetic breaks with understated echoing bongos, restless wavy notes and old school melodies punctuating the immersive atmosphere of the piece. This one thoroughly deserves pride of place in the "old school brand new" club.

AA2 - Translight Velocity

Continuing the old school theme, Translight Velocity quickly shows it's intent with inspired off-key notes before a lesson in joyous 90's style breakbeats leaps out of the speakers - not a single head in the room will be still with this on deck! Bouncy basslines and finely crafted drums from a variety of break samples jump around chaotically, sending your mind to the dancefloors of old in a way that feels incredibly fresh today

Two hidden gems from the P&P vaults courtesy of a scarcely known talent from Georgia, Florence Miller get an official reissue 'I'm Just A Lonely Girl' and 'The Groove I'm In'. With only two releases to her name, both of which came on Peter Brown’s P&P Records, ‘The Groove I'm In’ released around 1975 got the attention of the Northern and Modern Soul scenes in the mid ‘90s becoming a real star of the show. Since then, it’s maintained consistent demand on the second-hand market with originals selling for over £200.

As with most of Peter Brown's artists, they briefly emerged on the sparsely distributed P&P label, for a brief stab at stardom only to disappear when Peter's attentions moved on to the next releases. Consequently, very little is known about the multi-talented and sadly ignored Florence Miller following her two releases on the Harlem label. Clearly though, the music speaks for itself with the quality of the P&P catalogue and this Florence Miller slice of magic shining through to this day.

Sampha kündigt mit "LAHAI" sein mit Spannung erwartetes zweites Album an, das am 20. Oktober auf Young erscheint. Im Juni kehrte Sampha zum ersten Mal seit fünf Jahren für seine Satellite Business Residencies in London und New York auf die Bühne zurück. Das einzigartige Setup, bei dem Sampha und seine Band in der Mitte des Raums auftraten, ermöglichte den Fans einen intimen Zugang zu der improvisierten Performance neuer, unveröffentlichter Musik und alternativer Arrangements von Samphas Katalog, die das Publikum "wie gebannt" (Pitchfork) zurückließ. In diesem Herbst wird Sampha eine größere Version der Satellite Business Live-Show auf Tournee mitnehmen. Zu seinen früheren kreativen Partnerschaften gehören die Modedesignerin Grace Wales Bonner, das Shy Light Zine mit Durimel (der auch das LAHAI-Artwork gedreht hat), sein Process-Film mit dem Regisseur Kahlil Joseph und kürzlich die Zusammenarbeit mit Jonny Lu, mit dem Sampha das Artwork für sein LAHAI-Album und sein neues Logo entwickelt hat. Wenn "Process", Samphas 2017 mit dem Mercury-Preis ausgezeichnetes Debütalbum, einen Künstler zeigte, der seinen eigenen Platz in der Welt suchte und schließlich auch fand, ist "LAHAI" eine Übung in der radikalen Akzeptanz und Freude am Leben und der Schönheit der Reise bis hierhin. Willkommen zu Samphas nächstem musikalischen Kapitel: LAHAI.

Sampha kündigt mit "LAHAI" sein mit Spannung erwartetes zweites Album an, das am 20. Oktober auf Young erscheint. Nach dem Namen seines Großvaters väterlicherseits benannt, der gleichzeitig auch Samphas zweiter Vorname ist, fließt die Musik auf "LAHAI" zwischen der Ehrfurcht vor dem Leben und der Magie der weltlichen Existenz und beschreibt das Chaos, das man erlebt, wenn man sich dem Kreislauf des Lebens und dem Jenseits stellt. Auf den 14 Tracks hat Sampha enge Freunde und Kollegen zusammengerufen - darunter fantastische Künstler wie Yaeji, Léa Sen, Sheila Maurice Grey (Kokoroko), Ibeyi, Morgan Simpson (Black Midi), Yussef Dayes, Laura Groves und Kwake Bass. Im Gegensatz zum Vorgänger "Process" ist "LAHAI" ein eher kollaboratives Album. Die neueste Single "Only", die von einem Musikvideo von Dexter Navy in Zusammenarbeit mit Sampha begleitet wird und auf dem Vorab Track "Spirit 2.0" folgt, zeigt einen extrem lebendigen Sampha, der melodisch über einen fragmentierten Hip-Hop-Beat mit Co-Produktion von spanischen Musiker El Guincho singt. Im Juni kehrte Sampha zum ersten Mal seit fünf Jahren für seine Satellite Business Residencies in London und New York auf die Bühne zurück. Das einzigartige Setup, bei dem Sampha und seine Band in der Mitte des Raums auftraten, ermöglichte den Fans einen intimen Zugang zu der improvisierten Performance neuer, unveröffentlichter Musik und alternativer Arrangements von Samphas Katalog, die das Publikum "wie gebannt" (Pitchfork) zurückließ. In diesem Herbst wird Sampha eine größere Version der Satellite Business Live-Show auf Tournee mitnehmen. Den Anfang machen mehrere Abende in London in der St. Johns at Hackney Church im Oktober, bevor er nach Nordamerika zurückkehrt, um in großen Städten aufzutreten: Los Angeles, Toronto, New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Philadelphia und Atlanta. Anfang Dezember kehrt er nach Europa zurück und spielt in Berlin, Amsterdam und Paris. Wie sein Schöpfer lässt sich auch "LAHAI" nicht in eine Schublade stecken. Das neue Album ist eine Mischung aus Jazz, Soul, Rap, Dance, Jungle und westafrikanischer Musik, mit der Sampha seine produktionstechnischen und stimmlichen Ambitionen auf ein neues Niveau hebt. Als begnadeter Sänger , Songwriter und Produzent ist es kein Wunder, dass Künstler wie Kendrick Lamar, Stormzy, Travis Scott und früher auch Drake, Solange, Frank Ocean, Beyoncé, Lil Wayne und Alicia Keys ihn für seine unnachahmliche Stimme sowie seine Beiträge zum Songwriting und zur Produktion ihrer Musik um Unterstützung baten. Zu seinen früheren kreativen Partnerschaften gehören die Modedesignerin Grace Wales Bonner, das Shy Light Zine mit Durimel (der auch das LAHAI-Artwork gedreht hat), sein Process-Film mit dem Regisseur Kahlil Joseph und kürzlich die Zusammenarbeit mit Jonny Lu, mit dem Sampha das Artwork für sein LAHAI-Album und sein neues Logo entwickelt hat. The first ep "Projection Palace" features 4 tracks across various genres and tempo's.
From bass heavy breaks and house to sound along the hardcore jungle continuum.

The name of the ep refers to a psychological principle of "projection", whereby you project certain (negative) qualities onto others without them being necessarily right.
Quite often the projections say a lot more about the person who's doing the projecting rather than the person on the receiving end.
The idea then was to make an EP that revolved around this theme. The palace bit being a metaphor as if you were a house which would show you all these mirrors which are wonky and distorted, like a fun house on a fairground

Stand by your friends that are hurting. That’s what New Jersey power punks Teenage Halloween do
through soaring arrangements of melodic angst, wracked vocals that insist “I love you so much I would
die for you”, and passion-packed two-minute dispatches tackling topics from gender euphoria, to state
abuses, and an eternal quest for mental wellbeing. The results are potent punk vistas that document
young queer life at the edge of America. In February 2023, the group headed into Headroom Studios
in Philadelphia, PA, under the guiding hand of producer Joe Reinhart (Hop Along, Beach Bunny,
Joyce Manor), and tracked the 13 dispatches on isolation, uncertainty, and hope for better days, that
make up Till You Return. This second full-length outing (due for Oct 20th release via Don Giovanni)
finds the band, which operated as a ‘rotating cast’ in it’s early years, now firmly entrenched as an
essential four-piece comprised of Henderiks alongside Eli Frank (guitar, vocals), Tricia Marshall
(bass, vocals) and Peter Gargano (drums). The quartet maintains the vital energy of their previous
incarnations but brings an even more focused punch to the arrangements that leaves greater room for
Henderiks’ lyrics. Fans of the band will also have noticed the creative assent of Marshall who takes
the vocal lead on multiple songs that have become defining features of the band’s recent live shows
and which bring a fresh new viewpoint to the band’s ongoing sonic mission for a more equal and just
world.

The Ship ist eine großartige, unerwartete Platte. Der Titelsong und „Fickle Sun (i)“ allein und als zusammenhängendes Musikstück sind wunderbare Leistungen, die in Enos Katalog unverwechselbar sind.
