“Incident At a Free Festival” is a tribute to the mid-afternoon slots at Deeply Vale, Bickershaw, Krumlin, Weeley, and Plumpton – early 70s festivals that don’t get the column inches afforded the Isle of Wight or Glastonbury Fayre, but which would have been rites of passage for thousands of kids. Bands lower down the bill would have been charged with waking up the gentle hippies and appealing to both the greasy bikers and the girls in knee-high boots who wanted to wiggle their hips. And the best way to do that was with volume, riffs and percussion.

Compiled by the venerated Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs of Saint Etienne, this is the heavier side of the early 70s they summarised on the acclaimed “English Weather” collection. There’s an air of menace and illicit thrills among tracks by Andwella, Stack Waddy and Leaf Hound (whose “Growers of Mushroom” album is worth well over £1,000). Bigger names include the rabble-rousing Edgar Broughton Band and kings of the festival freakout, Hawkwind. They are represented by their rare version of ‘Ejection’

For every mystical Tyrannosaurus Rex performance there was something like Atomic Rooster’s Tomorrow Night or Curved Air’s Back Street Luv to capture the spirit of the day and stir the loins of festival goers; the tracks on “Incident At a Free Festival” were inspired by both Chicago’s percussive wig-outs and the Pink Fairies’ anarchic spirit. The sounds were heavy and frequently funky, with a definite scent of danger. Their message was clear and simple: clap your hands, stamp your feet, hold on to your mind.

Blues guitarist JOHNNY LAPORTE (Barrelhouse, Oscar Benton) releases his first solo album.
With twelve bluesy songs on which he proves to be an all-round bluesman. Parallel to this
album, he makes his debut as a writer with an Indian novel.
Johnny makes his debut as an accomplished singer with a slightly weathered voice. He also
presents himself as a multi-instrumentalist. Of course his guitar work is most in the
foreground. But in the quiet 'Storyteller', for example, his piano playing creates a tranquil
atmosphere. In the reggae-like 'We Gotta Tie Her Down' you can even hear a synthesizer.
In the blues ballad 'Forbidden Blues', inspired by the old 'Summertime', you can fully enjoy
his slow-hand guitar playing. Piano and guitar play a leading role in one of the two tracks
not written by Johnny on this album: a wonderful mid-tempo version of Robert Johnson's
traditional 'Ramblin' On My Mind' (from 1936).

Faitiche releases the album Improvisations And Edits, Tokyo 26.09.2001 on vinyl for the first time. For the original 2002 CD on Soup-Disk and Sub Rosa (Audiosphere), Jan Jelinek and the Japanese trio Computer Soup (Satoru Hori – trumpet, Osamu Okubo - toys & electronics, Kei Ikeda - toys & electronics) presented eight tracks all recorded one afternoon in the trio’s living room in Tokyo. They are excerpts from a joint group improvisation that subsequently underwent rudimentary editing, on which Jelinek and Computer Soup worked separately.

Jelinek met the three musicians at his first concert in Japan in 2001, at Tokyo’s Yellow club, where Computer Soup performed as the support act. Delighted by their free improvisation on pocket-sized electronic toys, trumpet and oscillators, he arranged to meet Hori, Okubo and Ikeda a few days later for a session at their apartment. The resulting three-hour recording, made on their living room floor, formed the basis for Improvisations and Edits. A few days later, Jelinek returned to Berlin. Over the following months, they separately chose passages from the recording that were then edited and assembled into an album.

Formed in Tokyo in 1996 as a quintet (including Shusaku Hariya and Daisuke Oishi), Computer Soup began by performing with acoustic instruments on the streets of Shibuya. Ikeda und Okubo soon switched instruments, and from then on the group’s minimalistic but densely woven sound was defined by electronic toys, oscillators and Satoru Hori’s trumpet. Their first album was released in 1997 on the Japanese label Soup Disk. Eight further releases followed.

Jelinek's trademark smears and washes occupy the midrange, like ghosted images of Joe Zawinul's electric piano floating quietly in the wind. DSP jazz modes are set against a walking bassline (possibly computer generated) and a gently tooted trumpet complete with Harmon mute, a dead ringer for Miles Davis' Prestige-era ballads. The effect is something like a three-dimensional film, with different realities on each layer; images of what jazz was manage to interact with a real-time demonstration of all it could be."

They're baaaack_.. While Brainstory is in the studio finishing their sophomore full-length, they treat us to this bombshell of a 7" as a taste of what's to come. They teamed back up with El Michels Affair who is handling production on the whole album and everything about this is leveled up. This show stopping plug & ballad two-sider is clear evidence of that. Side A is an uplifting, dance floor burning, smash hit that shows what years of touring and backing Lady Wray have brought out of Brainstory. "Nobody But You" is built on drummer Eric Hagstrom's crushing back beat that lays the foundation for this inspirational feel good banger that manages to take the uncomfortable truth that "nobody will save you but you" and turn it into pure blissful motivation. Then they drop a ballad on the flip side that is going to cause an entire scene to reconsider how they are doing it. The B side "Gift Of Life" is drop dead gorgeous, haunting, and profound all at once. An homage to the mysteries of life and the intangible truths that the human experience is built on.

Dazu gehört ihr achtes Soloalbum "Fight", welches am 19. August 2002 erschien. Die zwölf Songs kommen nun als Re-Release in limitierter curacao transparenter Gatefold LP auf Vinyl.
DORO und Box-Fans erinnern sich: Das Titelstück "Fight" wurde zur Einlauf-Hymne von Doro's Freundin, der mehrfachen Weltmeisterin Regina Halmich.
Dazu gibt es mit "Descent" einen Song mit dem unvergessenen Peter Steele (Type O Negative) und die wunderschöne deutsche Ballade "Hoffnung". Nicht zu vergessen: "Always Live To Win" - ein Kracher, der nicht nur die Lebensphilosophie der Sängerin widerspiegelt, sondern bei DORO-Tourneen bis heute auf (fast) jeder Setlist steht.

Die Bob Dylan World Tour 1978 markierte die ersten internationalen Konzertdaten des Künstlers seit 1966 und seine ersten Live-Shows seit der Rolling Thunder Revue, die 1975-76 durch Nordamerika führte. Die einjährige Tournee war ein internationales Musikereignis, bei dem Bob Dylan in großer Besetzung weltweit vor mehr als zwei Millionen Fans spielte. Die Tournee begann im Februar 1978 mit elf historischen Auftritten: Dylans allererste Konzerte in Japan, darunter acht Auftritte in der berühmten Nippon Budokan Hall in Tokio. Zwei der Budokan-Konzerte - der 28. Februar und der 1. März 1978 - wurden auf analogen 24-Kanal-Mehrspurbändern aufgezeichnet. "The Complete Budokan 1978" ist das erste Mal, dass Dylans komplette Konzerte von seiner Welttournee 1978 offiziell als 4CD-Box erhältlich sind. Der belgische Barock-Folk-Dichter Loverman veröffentlicht sein Debütalbum "Lovesongs". Alle Songs wurden von Loverman geschrieben und von Pieterjan Maertens und Jo Francken produziert, die vor allem für ihre Arbeit mit Tamino und Zaz bekannt sind. Het is alweer een tijd geleden dat Gerard Joling een album uitbracht, 7 jaar om precies te zijn. Gerard is net voor de coronacrisis met een groep singer-songwriters de studio in gedoken om nieuwe muziek op te nemen. Het hoofddoel was om een album te maken eigentijdse muziek, maar ook echte Gerard Joling nummers, zoals iedereen van hem gewend is. Daarom heeft het album de naam ‘Dit Ben Ik’ gekregen.

Gerard is erg enthousiast over het nieuwe album dat digitaal maar ook als LP en CD verschijnt: “Ik ben met met een aantal singer-songwriters de studio in gedoken. Daar hebben we geweldige muziek gemaakt, van vrolijke feestnummers tot rustige ballads en een aantal prachtige covers. For much of this album, his 16th in 26 years, Hiatt reunites with his best band, the Goners, and takes a giant leap back to his still-hungry days as a jag-edged, Costello-esque rocker while hewing to the soulful, blues-based songwriting he perfected on 1987's Bring the Family. The withering pub rock of 1979's Slug Line--as well as a nod to fallen hero Dale Earnhardt--seeps into the title track, while the roaring guitar, courtesy of the brilliant Sonny Landreth, and tight rhymes of "All the Lilacs in Ohio" suggest the streetwise edge of 1983's Riding with the King. But it's with ballads such as "Something Broken" and "Come Home to You" that Hiatt's musicianship, songwriting, and deeply soulful vocals truly convince and offer the most moving moments on this, his most memorable album in many years.
