"Spell Shock" ist die fulminante Rückkehr der Satanic Speed Metal-Beschwörer und Provokateure aus Portland, BEWITCHER. In 2013, Marc Almond realised the then ambition of his creative
career when he collaborated with legendary producer Tony Visconti
(David Bowie, Hazel O'Connor, T-Rex, Morrissey). The evocative
results of their unique collaboration can be heard on the opening
tracks ‘The Dancing Marquis’ and ‘Burn Bright’.
In collaboration with record producer Tris Penna, Tony Visconti also
lends a helping hand with string arrangements and mixing duties on
two further tracks; ‘Tasmanian Tiger’ and ‘Death of a Dandy’, the
latter lovingly inspired by the tragic and sudden death in 2010 of
Soho’s renowned hedonist, the writer and artist Sebastian Horsley.
Continuing in this collaborative vein, ‘The Dancing Marquis’ also
features the talents of Martin McCarrick (Siouxsie and the
Banshees, Therapy?) contributing cello on the hearteningly buoyant
‘Burn Bright’, and strings on title track ‘The Dancing Marquis’, a song
which Marc penned with Henry Paget, the 5th Marquess of Anglesey
very much in mind. Jarvis Cocker (Pulp) contributes an infectious
electro-pop song that he wrote especially for Marc, ‘Worship Me
Now!’ - he also features on backing vocals and production duties in
conjunction with Jason Buckle (The All Seeing I).
‘Love Is Not On Trial’ saw Marc once again collaborating with Carl
Barât (The Libertines), his co-star in the 2012 opera ‘Poppea’ as
performed at Théatre du Châtelet in Paris. Produced again by Tris
Penna, the song was written especially for Marc by Carl, who also
features on guitar and vocals.

successful series ever produced by Granada TV. The
series is still being shown all over the world and the
music from it is celebrated in this 40th Anniversary
Limited Edition DigiMIX Vinyl edition.
Patrick Gowers, the composer for the entire series
adapted and expended his themes from THE SIGN OF
FOUR, THE ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES and
THE RETURN OF SHERLOCK HOLMES to comprise the
tracks featured on this CD.
He conducted The Wren Orchestra, The Gabrieli
String Quartet and The St.Paul's Cathedral Choir
specially for the recording which was made at The
Abbey Road Studios in Digital.

Saxophonist Walter Smith III pays homage to his hometown of Houston, Texas on his sophomore Blue Note album, three of us are from Houston and Reuben is not, the follow-up to 2023’s return to casual. The album’s wry title signifies the lineup, which includes fellow Houston natives – pianist Jason Moran and drummer Eric Harland – while bassist Reuben Rogers, who hails from the Virgin Islands, rounds out the quartet. Together they enliven 10 compelling Smith originals and an imaginative rendering of a Sam Rivers composition – all of which speaks to Smith’s ascending status as one of modern jazz’s most engaging talents of his generation.

With a Yamaha organ and a dream, South African artist Pops Mohamed started his musical journey in the mid-1970s as the bandleader and composer of Black Disco, creating a hip melange of chill-out jazz with futuristic drum machine sounds and spiritual overtones. His cosmic organ transmissions were accompanied by two of the most sought-after session players on the South African scene, the sax and flute wizard Basil Coetzee, who had risen to fame in 1974 as one of the soloists on the hit "Mannenberg," and Sipho Gumede, the young bass prodigy who was already rubbing shoulders with the old guard at the outset of his career. Backed at first with polyphonic beats from Mohamed's electric organ and later taking on a drummer, Black Disco created a signature sound and a trilogy of innovative albums in a burst of studio creativity between 1975 and 1976.

Everything Around You is a co-release presented by K and Perennial.The second LP from Feeling Figures was in fact recorded before their first. Amongst the stuttered starts and stops of the pandemic, a window opened for `The Figs' to commit 11 songs to tape. After gradually preparing new and resurrected material, they gathered in drummer T's basement in the omicron winter of early 2022 to document their strongest songs on his recently acquired reel-to-reel. Compared to `Migration Magic', `Everything Around You' is a considerably deeper dive into the Figs universe, a more deliberate collection that includes compositions which push into the expanse, drawing from a broader palette of art rock influences. The songs on this album navigate tensions between the personal and political, encompassing inner turmoil and deep-seated desires for change at the entangled axis of individual and social transformation. `Everything Around You' is their most fully-realized accomplishment to date; the best recorded representation of their boundless, idiosyncratic approach to guitar-based music. Call for Winter II: Resonance is the new album from Daniel Herskedal and the second album, as part of his solo project Call forWinter. A musician and composer who is meticulously crafting a sound of his own blending Tuba, bass trumpet with classical,world and improvised music, Call for Winter II :Resonance is a profound statement, aptly titled, depicting his expansive vision,ambition as much as the influence of the stark, breathtaking expanse of the Norwegian valley and landscape—an ever-presentmuse in Herskedal's work. Following the thematic and sonic footsteps of his first "Call for Winter" album, which expanded upon"The Mistral Noir" from his 2015 album "Slow Eastbound Train," Herskedal dives deeper in "Resonance." Here, he layers hissignature instruments with even greater emotional gravity and artistic conviction, crafting a soundscape that is both expansiveand introspective.

"Mountain Music is Nina Nesbitt as fans have never heard her before. Having risen to fame at a young age with her disarming, candid pop – the Scottish musician is now found in an entirely new realm. One of the great enigmatic figures of jazz, Sun Ra's persona as philosopher, showman and space enthusiast often overshadowed his purely musical accomplishments as one of the most prolific and creative composers and big band leaders in the business. The current release contains one of Sun Ra's most exceptional and highly regarded albums of the 1950s: Jazz in Silhouette. Although the exact recording dates are unknown (no details were given on the original LP back cover, which included no liner notes at all) it was recorded in Chicago in late 1958. Zum Hintergrund des Albums, auf das es mit "Caught In The Treads" bereits einen ersten Ausblick gegeben hatte, erklärt Frontmann Chase Mason: "Viele der Songs handeln von übernatürliche Ideen, gepaart meinen eigenen Erfahrungen. Allerdings ist der Titel selbst eine Referenz an die Superstition Mountains in unserem Heimatstaat Arizona. Es ist eine wunderschöne Bergkette, umgeben von Tragödien und Legenden über verborgenes Glück." An das Thema des Übernatürlichen schließen sie auch mit der neuesten Singleveröffentlichung "The Black Curtain" sowie dem dazugehörigen Musikvideo an.

Darin ist die Band von einer Friedhofskulisse umgeben, der sie mit ihrer Mischung aus straightem Rock, peitschenden Death Metal und ausufernden Shoutings Kontur und standesgemäße Düsternis verleihen. Dazu führt Mason weiter aus: "Es geht darum, zwischen Leben und Sterben gefangen zu sein. Eine Seele, die im Fegefeuer gefangen ist und darum bettelt, von einer übernatürlichen Kraft zurückgebracht zu werden."
