Vintage Sounds - FOLK Edition Die neue Ausgabe der beliebten Vintage Sounds Vinylreihe widmet sich einem der ehrlichsten und bewegendsten Genres der Musikgeschichte: Folk. Diese Sammlung vereint 14 zeitlose Klassiker, die das Herz und die Seele der Folkbewegung widerspiegeln - roh, poetisch und zutiefst menschlich. Mit dabei sind Legenden wie Joan Baez, deren "Donna Donna" zur Hymne der Friedensbewegung wurde, und Bob Dylan, der mit "House Of The Risin" Sun" seine frühe Meisterschaft zeigt. Woody Guthrie bringt mit "This Land Is Your Land" ein Stück amerikanischer Geschichte auf die Platte, während Townes Van Zandt und Dave Van Ronk die dunkleren, introspektiven Seiten des Genres beleuchten. Auch seltene Perlen wie Dave Bixbys psychedelisch-spirituelles "Morning Sun" oder Bridget St Johns melancholisches "Autumn Lullaby" finden hier ihren Platz. Die Compilation schließt mit einem bewegenden Duett von Terry Callier & Paul Weller, das Folk in die Gegenwart holt.

Having lovingly reissued the first four albums by our all-time favorite all- female punk band, we now turn our attention to The Donnas’ major label debut for the Atlantic label, where they went after recording a quartet of classics for Lookout! 2002’s Spend the Night was by far the band’s most popular album, hitting 62 on the Billboard charts, but it wasn’t just the major label distribution mojo that upped the sales. This record doesn’t have a dud on it, and boasts such Donnas devastators as “Who Invited You,” “Take It Off,” “You Wanna Get Me High,” and “Pass It Around.” Indeed, with one killer hook after another, the big mystery about this record is, why didn’t it make them superstars? Our reissue also includes “Big Rig,” which was on the original LP release but got left off the CD, and the insert featuring lyrics and a Freddy Krueger guest appearance. Hot pink vinyl!

Und noch heute kann man exzellent dazu tanzen, denn alle Tunes sind schnell, rauh und dafür gemacht, die Meute in Bewegung zu bringen. Diese Zusammenstellungen zeigen die rauen und wilden Klänge des rockigen Electric Blues aus den 1950er und frühen 1960er Jahren. Die Rückseite bestreitet Donna Driscoll, langjährige Kennerin und Sammlerin zwischen Northern Soul und R&B aus London. Wieder lieferbar ist ein Klassiker des Dub-Reggae, von Kevin Metcalfe re-mastered und auf dem VP Records Sublabel 17 North Parade wiederveröffentlicht. Im Original erschien der Longplayer erstmalig 1977 auf Joe Gibbs' Record Globe Label und wurde mit seiner Studioband The Professionals eingespielt. Laut Originalcover waren das George "Fully" Fulwood, Carlton "Santa" Davis, Tony Chin, Richard "Dirty Harry" Hall, Tommy McCook, Bobby Ellis und Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace. Am Mischpult saß Errol Thompson. Hier finden sich 12 exzellente Dubversionen von Riddims aus der Treasure Isle und Studio One Rocksteady-Ära, und zu "Hypocrites" von Bob Marley & The Wailers sowie zu"Uptown Top Ranking" von Althea & Donna!

Record Store Day 2015 will see a special release from Gene Hunt directed and selected by label boss I-Robots.

The two track vinyl EP features unreleased material produced in the early years of the famed Chicago artist's career in the 80s and is dedicated to musical legend Frankie Knuckles who appears on the artwork in a rare picture with Gene Hunt from back in the day.

Gene has regularly produced and remixed for the label before now (including remixing Klein & M.B.O. 'Last Call' and on forthcoming I-Robots project 'Dirty Talk' ft. Donna McGhee) and has already assured his place in house history as a DJ headlining clubs like Warehouse and the Music Box as well as playing with the likes of Ron Hardy and Larry Heard.

As a producer he has been on top of his game for three decades and has released on legendary imprints such Rush Hour, Svek, Djax and many more, so is a true house icon.

His first cut here, 'Drive Yourself Nuts' is a classic bit of Chicago jack with prickly percussive patterns staying busy on top of punchy drums. Wonky bass, physical grooves and coarse claps all make this one a standout banger for the peak of the night.

On the flip of this special package, 'Wildside D Dubb' is a slow building, mania inducing tune with a lead synth line slithering about over dusty metallic drums. Eventually some acid bleeds into the mix and pans all around, adding a sense of scale to this heady, freaky, dance floor smasher.
