Electric Orange ist eine deutsche Psychedelic- und Krautrock-Band, die 1992 von Keyboarder Dirk Jan Müller gegründet wurde. Since first arriving on the scene in 2009 with blistering inversions of shoegaze, Montreal's No Joy has always found formidable ways to reinvent itself. Now solely composed of musician Jasamine White-Gluz, No Joy has evolved over four studio albums and five EPs, defying expectation and genre, and cementing itself as something rare: a band without a category. Clearly sympatico at the time of collaborating, Fire-Toolz and No Joy (Jasamine White-Gluz) had both resituated to secluded woodsy milieus prior to the "Bugland seshies", as I now name the historic pairing. Together, they created an aural equivalent of a late 1980 I-d magazine front and back cover, with a non-problematic National Geographic hiding within. Fire-Toolz sums it up: "The collaboration really felt limitless. I didn't have to adhere to a certain vision in a way that made me feel like I couldn't be Fire-Toolz. I could easily relate to this album because Jasamine and I liked a lot of the same music, and I was able to be creative in ways that were freeing as if I was making my own album. " Both spent days driving through on empty rural highways listening to the mixes, and it reflects in the final product. With an open ear, many "influence eggs" can be detected by the listener. Garbage Dream House is Zooropian without any of U2's ego baggage. Seven-minute closing track Jelly Meadow Bright even manages to meld Stooges' Fun House out of control saxophone with the chill buoyancy of a high-end spa. Touching on respected, familiar genres and sounds while attempting to advance one's own isn't easy but Bugland manages to. What genre is it anyway? Is it even shoegaze when it could live happily on a shelf next to Boards of Canada and Autechre? The right answer is `yes'. What a lovely shelf `twould be as well. A marble shelf, with cyberpunk elements. Bugland`s a testament to White-Gluz's evolution and her ability to channel a wide variety of tastes into something cohesive that can descend into fine-tuned chaos, then out of that chaos with ease.

The wide-ranging styles across TD10 are bound together by a shared affinity for bassweight presence and vibrant, three-dimensional production. Fractured, artful deconstruction from Daisy Moon, Marco Shuttle and Verraco sits alongside the snarling half-step pressure of re:ni and Lurka and the jagged drum intensity of Lechuga Zafiro, 33EMYBW, Ayesha, and Jabes. There's space for big room anti-anthems from Pearson Sound, Bambounou and Batu himself, wildcard swerves from Minor Science and Skee Mask and more emotive melodic sensibilities from Polygonia, El irreal Veintiuno and BADSISTA. At every turn, the ideas are fresh, toying with the idea of an all-encompassing sound for the label and throwing open the possibilities for what it might represent in the future.

Nach gefeierten Auftritten bei den BBC Proms, im Kölner Dom und auf der New York Fashion Week veröffentlicht die Organistin, Chor-Leiterin und Influencerin Anna Lapwood ihr aktuelles Album Firedove jetzt auf Vinyl. Neben den beliebtesten Stücken des Albums sind auch zwei neue Stücke dabei, die extra für die Vinyl aufgenommen wurden: "Nimbus" von der indonesischen Komponistin Eunike Tanzil und eine Toccata von Eugène Gigout.Für ihr Album "Firedove" hat Anna Lapwood neue Arrangements zeitgenössischer Stücke von u.a. Hans Zimmer, Rachel Portman oder Alan Menken aufgenommen. Dabei ist Anna Lapwood nicht nur an der Orgel zu hören, sondern leitet bei den Stücken "Come to Me", "Firedove" und "Make You Feel My Love" auch den Chapel Choir of Pembroke College Cambridge. Beim Stück "Flight" wird Anna Lapwood von der Saxofonistin Jess Gillam begleitet. "Firedove" wurde in den Nachtstunden im Nidaros Dom aufgenommen, einer spektakulären gotischen Kathedrale aus dem 11. Jahrhundert in Trondheim, Norwegen."Ich wollte ein Album schaffen, bei dem die Hörer nie genau wissen, wohin es als nächstes geht. Selbst Tom Cruise besuchte sie bei einer ihren nächtlichen Proben, was zu einer spontanen Orgelstunde führte. 2024 wurde sie für ihr Debüt-Album "Luna" mit einem Opus Klassik ausgezeichnet. Back in 2023, I picked up a record by Jacob Dwyer — I was completely captivated. His lyrics weren’t just words; they were portals. I had to track him down. After some digging, I made contact — and asked him if he would like to collaborate with me.

He said yes.

Fast forward through months of back-and-forth, and then it landed — in my inbox — Tom’s House: a one-hour audio-drama written and performed by the incomparable Jacob Dwyer. It’s a hypnotic, surreal journey through the mind of someone returning home after 15 years — disorienting, poetic, and fully immersive.

To accompany this masterwork, I put together my take on Canon HF10 — 12 minutes of deep, rolling tech grooves, bouncing acid basslines, freaked-out synths, and lyrical gold. (“He demanded a fried egg sandwich…”)

Flip to the B-side and things get wild with The Baby Legit Upside Down — a full-tilt burner packed with razor-sharp 808 electro/techno drums, squelchy 101 bass stabs, swirling pads, and an evolving sub that’ll shake the foundations. Dwyer’s voice threads through the chaos with uncanny flair — bizarre, brilliant, unforgettable. The title means what it says.

We close the EP with Red Flowers — slowing the tempo, diving into squelchy breaks and textural weirdness, as Jacob drops in snippets of conversation with his sister, alongside more sharp, off-kilter reflections on Tom’s House.

50th Anniversary Reissue on limited edition 180g Yellow Marble. At its heart, Trio is a work about collaboration, playfulness and unification. It is music as a means of coming together, a sonic equivalent to the Japanese philosophy of Kintsugi, in which broken ceramics are repaired with a visible golden lacquer. Rather than hiding the breaks, Kintsugi embraces them, making them part of the story, a form of delicate transformation. Popp and his collaborators Flurin Mück and Sebastian Wolfgruber take a similar approach: three distinct drummers, three different temperaments, three personal styles. Fused together into a single expressive instrument.
The album is a celebration of timbre, texture, and touch, its sound palette drawn from across continents and traditions. Human beings at all points of time, across all cultures and continents have used music to celebrate, mourn, worship and bond. Along with our voices, creating rhythm with our bodies. The pathos and irony of the glorious track 'The World Doesn't Need Another Band' sets out the band's store, it's a measured and quietly outspoken rant at lacklustre opposition peppered with a gorgeous guitar break. Meanwhile, 'I Only Ever Wanted To See You Fail' rumbles with an Eddie And The Hot Rods pre-punk riff before dissolving into a tale of self-doubt and remorse, bemoaning others' good luck. 'Toxic Friend' is from the book of the TVP's Daniel Treacey with an upbeat chorus that smacks of all that was good in old school indie in a hail of fuzzy logic and guitars. From humble beginnings as a home recording project, The Reds, Pinks and Purples has blossomed into a sporadic live unit with tours on both sides of the Atlantic and appearances at Pitchfork Fest London and Woodsist Fest as well as support slots for indie legends such as Destroyer, Guided By Voices, and The Feelies. "Donaldson's best work hides allure within a bigger picture, like a jangle-pop egg hunt" Pitchfork.

Benjamin Hudson returns to Acroplane, following his last projects with us as Ebola (Wrong Music) and one half of Baconhead, with 'Slime'… and he's brought a load of his talented mates to collaborate with him.

As a DJ he has performed all over the world, including Transmediale Festival (Berlin), Today's Art (Den Haag) and Boomtown Fair, as well as two live sessions at Radio 1's legendary Maida Vale Studios. As a producer he has garnered support from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, ETCH, Huw Stephens, Drumskull, Annie Mac, and Nikki Nair.

Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life erschien 1983 als Soundtrack zum gleichnamigen Film – und ist nun zum ersten Mal seit Jahrzehnten wieder erhältlich, diesmal als rote Vinyl-Edition.

Die Platte ist ein wilder Mix aus Sketchen, Songs und absurden Zwischenspielen – darunter „Every Sperm Is Sacred“, „Galaxy Song“ und das schräg-romantische „Penis Song (Not the Noël Coward Song)“. Ergänzt wird das Ganze durch Bonus-Dialoge, Soundeffekte und Auftritte von Michael Palin und Terry Gilliam, die eigens fürs Audioformat eingespielt wurden.

When I played b2b with Sonar's Ghost on my radio show on NTS last year, he played a new tune entitled "Eggs2C" and it sounded really good, so I asked him what the deal with it was. He said that he was working on it with Outrage and that it was going to be part of an EP they were working on, with Future Retro London in mind for releasing it on. It was the first I'd heard of this EP being made for me haha, but I was curious about what the rest of the release sounded like. He sent me the rest of the tunes and I was into them, so here it is!
