Rue des Garderies - Live at Pe:rsona LP 3x12"

From the edges of a hallucinatory torpor, Rue des Garderies continue their explorations in psychedelia - Femacosmé presents here a new piece recorded live at the Pe:rsona festival, at Domaine des Éveils in the summer of 2025.

An adventure guided by blur, the intangible, the impermanent, where layers, voices, sounds, and organic and synthetic echoes resonate, emerge, then fade away, as if to deceive reality, or at least our perception of it.

More than two semi-improvised hours in which Rue des Garderies (Sweetzak, Désiré Bonaventure & Vasco Cesaretti) summon us to an astral yet motionless journey, somewhere between ambient, IDM, and post-pop.

180gm marble vinyl.
Baratro was born when Fede (Council of Rats) and Dave (Unsane) met at a show in legendary Milan squat Cox18 and started to trade riffs and song ideas. After a while they decided to shape these experiments into a proper band and got Luca (Marnero) behind the drumkit to complete the line up.
After a few months of practice and a couple of shows in Italy, the band recorded their very first six songs in the empty concert hall of Cox18, which were later released as the “Terms and conditions” EP via Sangue Dischi records (July 2021).
Given the worldwide shutdown of live performances through 2020/2021 the band focused on writing new music, and in August 2021 they started tracking down their first full length effort, “The Sweet Smell of Unrest”, which was released February 2024 via Improved Sequence.
In 2024 Baratro joined forces with cellist Matteo Bennici to experiment as a quartet, both for composition and live. With this new formation and new found chemistry, the band simply let the dynamics and trust in each other shape the outcome of the music. This new creative process led, about a year later, to the recording sessions of their second full-length “No comply”, to be released by Supernatural Cat.

BARATRO are:
Dave Curran – bass, vocals Federico Hartridge – guitar, vocals Luca Antonozzi – drums Matteo Bennici – cello

Like their name suggests, Model/Actriz seek to channel raw emotions into striking new forms. The band’s surface glamor is supported by nerves of steels, leveraging their focus into moments of wild abandon. Since their songs roar to life off the back of blistering guitar, relentless drums, and pummeling bass thereʼs an expectation that Model/Actriz aim first and foremost to be shit-starters. But their instrumental muscle couches a searching heart and the Brooklyn quartet have long made a mission to reconcile undefinable feelings by charting a ferocious new path through sound, one that brings jagged emotions back into full, sweaty alignment with the listenersʼ bodies.

Reverie is the first full-length collaboration between Ori Kaplan and Lihu Melamed - a cinematic, soul-soaked LP that drifts between modal jazz, cinematic scores and psychedelic rock, released on Batov Records.
Saxophonist and producer Ori Kaplan is best known as a founding member of Balkan Beat Box, for his work with Gogol Bordello and more recently, Shotnez, while Melamed brings a deep studio craft honed over years as an engineer, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Together, they create a record that feels both ancient and immediate: music that evokes old biblical films, sun-bleached Western soundtracks and 70s jazz explorations, while remaining playful, spontaneous and deeply human.

There’s a strong cinematic undercurrent throughout Reverie. Think Charles Heston wandering through an Old Testament epic; Ennio Morricone soundtracking a desert horizon; Nino Rota scoring Fellini’s Rome; or Pasolini filming in Ethiopia. Minor-key strings, modal structures and unhurried grooves sit alongside echoes of Mingus and Yusef Lateef, with Ori’s baritone sax and flutes guiding the listener through shifting scenes and moods.

The Mexican band The Survival created a blend of blues and acid rock influenced by the U.S. West Coast movement and British blues, captured on this 1971 album-the only one they recorded. They are often described as a combination of Country Joe and the Fish, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Moby Grape, and Ten Years After. One of the rarest records ever released in Mexico, it stands as a significant testament to the "onda chicana," a historical moment when Mexican youth took up instruments to express their reality. The group formed in August 1970 and recorded a single album, "La onda de The Survival" (1971), which combined laid-back blues with distortion. One distinctive feature was that lead vocals were handled by drummer Andrés Lusher-an unusual choice that gave the band a unique sonic identity. The album captured the spirit of the time, portraying generational shifts, repression of youth, fraternity, pacifism, and the influence of drugs. Despite their brief existence, The Survival and their sole album remain a significant testament to the "onda chicana", a lasting mark on the history of Mexican rock. Includes an insert with liner notes.

  • 8: I’ll See You Again (Noël Coward)
  • 9: Being Alive (Stephen Sondheim)
  • 10: Lush Life (Billy Strayhorn)

‘Cécile McLorin Salvant ... sings standards, show tunes and old novelties in a taut, flinty, elusively beautiful voice, erring toward material with difficult lyrics and tough places in history. Salvant wins over her audiences by tweaking them slightly: daring them to go there with her—not just into the archive, but toward the darkness of the past.’ – New York Times

‘Although Salvant is known as a jazz musician, her approach to music is defined by her instinct for experimentation ... Her music is beloved for ... embracing theatre and subverting classics with playful renditions.’ – Guardian

Salvant, who has performed with orchestras regularly over the last decade-and-a-half and intended to make an album with one sooner in her career, but logistics and her abundant creative ideas led to other new projects intervening. Having finally found time to make this album, With Every Breath I Take is a different sort of record than it might have been even ten years ago.

“It is a rare opportunity to be able to make an album at this scale, which has been a dream of mine for many years,” Salvant says. “Darcy James Argue wrote stunning arrangements and the Metropole Orkest, conducted by the extraordinary Jules Buckley, gave these stories a cinematic dimension. We overcame quite a few obstacles to even get into the recording studio for this project; it took almost four years for us to do so, and I am so incredibly proud to share it.

“I did not choose these songs because they are beautiful, but because they are crucial to me,” she adds.

Cécile McLorin Salvant, a 2020 MacArthur Fellow and three-time Grammy Award winner, is a singer and composer bringing historical perspective, a renewed sense of drama, and an enlightened musical understanding to both jazz standards and her own original compositions. Classically trained, steeped in jazz, blues, and folk, and drawing from musical theater and vaudeville, Salvant embraces a wide-ranging repertoire that broadens the possibilities for live performance.

Salvant’s performances range from spare duets for voice and piano to instrumental trios to orchestral ensembles. Her unreleased work Ogresse is an ambitious long-form musical fairy tale that is being made into a feature length animated film. She has performed at national and international venues and festivals such as the Newport Jazz Festival, the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Village Vanguard, and the North Sea Jazz Festival. Her previous Nonesuch albums, Ghost Song (2022) Mélusine (2023), and Oh Snap (2025) received critical accolades; the former two were both nominated for Grammy Awards. Salvant is also a visual artist, and Oh Snap was named a best album of 2025 by the Guardian, Jazzwise, JazzTimes, and the Francis Davis Jazz Critics Poll.

ADULT THEMES

Big Crown Records
26.06.2026

Big Crown Records is proud to present Adult Themes, the latest full length offering from El Michels Affair. This album takes the band's "Cinematic Soul" aesthetic literally and sends the listener on a journey through a whirlwind of moods and energies. With their 2005 debut album Sounding Out The City, EMA spearheaded an instrumental funk / soul movement that inspired a slew of bands and even lead to the creation of a few independent record labels. El Michels has since lent his signature sound to artists from Adele to Dr John, Lana Del Rey to Aloe Blacc, and a who's who list of others. In 2016 he co-founded Big Crown Records and has since produced the lion's share of its output. A short stint as the touring band for Wu Tang Clan in 2007 led to the cult classics Enter The 37th Chamber (2009) and Return To The 37th Chamber (2017). Adult Themes marks the long awaited, highly anticipated return to an album of original compositions from El Michels Affair. In 2017 in between producing, playing, and recording on other artists' records Leon Michels began creating compilations of short interludes intended to be sampled by hip hop producers. Some of these wound up becoming songs by Jay Z & Beyonce, Travis Scott, and Don Toliver. These minute-long snippets were inspired by the dense moody work of `60s composers like David Axelrod, and Francois de Roubaix, as well as Moondog's brand of classical jazz. Michels was having so much fun creating these instrumental / orchestral nuggets that he decided to expand on some of the ideas and create what would become the soundtrack for a movie that has yet to be made, an imaginary film entitled "Adult Themes." The album plays like the colors on an artists pallet. Songs like "Rubix" and "Villa" are densely orchestrated with the hard-hitting drums that El Michels Affair is known for. On "Life of Pablo", Leon's son makes his first appearance on record and intros a song with an epic arrangement and a moving mood. "Hipps" is a drum heavy ballad that could've easily fit on EMA's debut record, Sounding Out the City. Other compositions like "The Difference" and "Kill The Lights" are bare, melodic mood pieces with sparse drums and sophisticated chord movement. All of these tunes come together to make perfect backgrounds for dialogue and action. One of the beautiful things about instrumental music is that the listener can decide what the narrative is. With Adult Themes El Michels Affair has created a "choose your own adventure" in musical form.

Mixing satiric, confessional and experimental lyric modes in his songs, Songs Album II is an overwhelming show of Aaron"s compositional gifts and pop sensibilities, cut from a fine cloth of head-informed, classically sweet and soft pop/rock modes. "Songs Album II" is a collection of widescreen, hi-def songs and sounds. With moments of sound laced into song, functioning both as toe-tapping sweet melodies and near-Joycean full-function index of personal reference, Aaron MF Olson"s music is meant for listening to in the spirit of listening, and higher calling.

ReVINYL Random Color Edition. Concrete is a bracing jolt of a song, racing forward on a tightly wound post-punk riff, its call-and-response vocals capturing the turmoil and schizophrenic internal dialogue of the song's subject matter."It's about someone who's trapped in a relationship and they're being pummelled into surrender," says singer and lyricist Charlie Steen. "It's not about a physically abusive relationship - more an emotionally and psychologically draining one. The call-and-response vocals between Steen and bassist Josh Finerty is the central figure's own internal dialogue. They are dealing with two different things that they don't want to address."The band cite The Fall, Country Teasers, Television Personalities and Wire among their biggest influences, and the icily claustrophobic sound of Concrete sets it in a lineage with Magazine, Joy Division. As a lyricist, Steen is a modern flâneur, forensically observing the lives of others around him as they unspool and fracture, with Hubert Selby Jr and Irvine Welsh his primary literary influences. "That graphic and harsh style of writing always interested me," he explains. "It's not about the shock factor; it's about the fact they are talking about these things in such great detail without stripping anything back."The London five piece have swiftly earned a reputation as one of the most visceral and exhilarating live bands in the UK, their combustible shows being honed through a heavy touring schedule in the UK and across Europe. Cutting their teeth on the squat-punk scene in the Queen's Head in Brixton in 2015, where they were taken under the wing of Fat White Family, the white heat of their gigs quickly landed them support slots with Slaves and Warpaint. They were also personally invited by Billy Bragg to play the Left Field stage at Glastonbury this year.Following two singles - the AA single The Lick/Gold Hole and Tasteless on Fnord Communications as well as the digital-only Theresa May-baiting Visa Vulture (described by Steen as "the worst love song ever") - Concrete is the first track to be released as part of their record deal with Dead Oceans."We started this band as a joke that went too far," deadpans Steen. "What we do is quite strange and quite weird, but I get to meet a lot of people and I get to hear a lot of things. I am interested in the surrealism of reality."

Reissue of Spirit Caravan's debut album. Jug Fulla Sun follows a sonic continuum that began in the late '70s when Scott "Wino" Weinrich emerged from the outskirts of Washington, D.C., with the Obsessed, his stripped-down hybrid of biker rock and metal. That outfit made tremendous strides in bridging the gap between the long-haired metal contingent and the still developing, though already rabid, D.C. hardcore scene. Jug Fulla Sun shows Wino augmenting his trademark brand of doom-laden guitar work and slow-fuse vocal ferocity with greater lyrical depth and overall textural breadth. The songs are rich, refined, articulate, and created by a lifer, a true veteran of the hard music scene. Wino has obviously gone to great lengths here to subordinate his outlaw vision to a more expansive, comprehensive view of mankind, and of greater truths. The somewhat nebulous scope of his lyrics is enhanced by Lungfish vocalist/tattoo artist Dan Higgs' cryptic cover painting. An excellent album. - All Music

Bill Withers was a modest, gentle, and yet towering musical figure responsible for some of the most important, universally known soul hits ever written. It’s no wonder that “Just the Two of Us” and “Ain’t No Sunshine” won him two Grammy awards and undoubtedly played a huge role in getting him inducted into both the Songwriters and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Live at Carnegie Hall is Withers' only live album, recorded on October 6, 1973 but not released until April 21, 1973. The fact that Bill got to play his heartfelt and honest soul at one of the most prestigious venues for both classical and pop music speaks volumes: his first two records Just As I Am and Still Bill were really that influential.

Bill Withers' Live At Carnegie Hall was recorded more than 50 years ago on a rainy Friday evening, but it is still regarded as one of the best live performances in the history of Soul music. Withers appears on stage with an ensemble of only the best session musicians the 1970s had to offer: Melvin Dunlap, Ray Jackson, James Gadson, Benorce Blackmon, and Bobbye Hall, at the time one of the few female session percussionists. They all had worked together on Still Bill and had the knack for expanding Bill's intimate songs to fit a hall of that size and stature. And as far as the recording goes, no corners were cut; it really feels like you're up there with them.

The set features evergreens such as "Ain't No Sunshine", "Lean On Me", "Grandma's Hands", but also tunes that are only available as part of this live set, such as "World Keeps Going Around" and "I Can't Write Left-Handed".

Bill Withers Live at Carnegie Hall is available as a limited edition of 5000 individually numbered copies on magenta vinyl, and includes printed inner sleeves and a 4-page booklet featuring liner notes on Bill Withers written by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and reflections by Aloe Blacc.

T-Mirage - Expressive Thoughts E.P.

Odysee’s vinyl release schedule for 2026 kicks off with this superb 3-track E.P. from none other than the labels founder, T-Mirage. Following up from his 2024 release Dark Rhodes, this E.P. is an embodiment of the raw Mirage sound; a melting pot of Atmospheric D&B with hard hitting dance-floor sensibilities, where 70's OST & Film Noire sounds are blended with deep Techno and electronica elements.

From the blistering amens and deep textures of 'Expressive Thoughts', to the dreamy atmosphere of 'Dawnbreaker' and the dystopian menace of the breakbeat-driven 'Machines Of London', this E.P. is an absolute must for all true Odysee fans!

In 1994, Tilla was just 17 years old, and an integral part of the original St Albans collective that comprised Jim Baker & Phil Aslett (Source Direct) and Rupert Parkes (Photek), when he set up the Odysee imprint and released the first Source Direct record (Future London/Shimmer). With a follow-up release from Photek (Phaze 1/Try A Style) and a second from Source Direct, the profile of the label began to grow exponentially.

It was the 3 Mirage releases however that really put the label on the map. These tracks were engineered by Jim Baker but heavily co-produced by Tilla himself with a major focus on his keen ear for dark 70’s Noire samples and eerie abstract electronica pitted against soulful R&B vocals. In hindsight, the impact of this rather different soundscape on the Source Direct material that followed is unmistakable.

In seiner

Bang! Records now brings Powerglide by The Hydromatics back to vinyl, giving this powerful and long-overdue album the format it deserves. A necessary reissue of a genuine cult favorite: wild, electric, and made by people who truly knew what this music was all about. In the early 2000s, The Hydromatics brought together three scenes, three cities, and one shared devotion to rock'n'roll: the fiery tradition of Detroit, the raw punch of Amsterdam, and the high-energy attitude of Scandinavia. Fronted by none other than Scott Morgan (Sonic's Rendezvous Band), one of the great voices of Detroit rock, and backed by Tony Slug (LOVESLUG) and a band built out of genuine love for the legacy of Sonic's Rendezvous Band, the result was Powerglide-a record that is tough, streetwise, soulful, elegant, and raw all at once. Originally released in 2001, Powerglide captures The Hydromatics in full flight. Original songs sit alongside explosive takes on material connected to the Sonic's Rendezvous universe, all delivered with nerve, conviction, and the kind of authority that simply cannot be faked. The guitars bite, the rhythm section drives relentlessly, and above all there is Scott Morgan's voice-capable of sounding fierce, wounded, and defiant within the very same line. Far from being a mere exercise in homage, Powerglide stands tall as a living, breathing record with a personality all its own: high-octane rock'n'roll fueled by rhythm & blues soul and steeped in the unmistakable spirit of Detroit. This is an album for those who understand that proto-punk, garage soul, and real rock'n'roll were never separated by any meaningful border in the first place.

ERWAN KERAVEC - WHITEWATER

Erwan Keravec is a virtuoso Scottish bagpiper, accomplished composer, innovator and performer of considerable distinction. Active since the 1990s, he represents a singular and remarkable figure within the French musical landscape, navigating the fertile terrain between Breton traditional music and cutting-edge contemporary creation. His forthcoming solo album "Whitewater," to be released through Ici d'ailleurs, marks a deeply personal artistic statement-a homecoming of sorts for the musician, following fifteen years devoted primarily to collective endeavours. His sonic palette evokes the pioneering electronic work of Eliane Radigue, the experimental philosophy of Pauline Oliveros, and the musique concrète innovations of Nurse With Wound. A Homecoming: The album represents a work of artistic maturation, gestating over several years whilst Keravec devoted considerable energies to developing his ensemble projects since 2010. For this accomplished musician, the album marks a significant return to intimate, personal engagement with his instrument-a meditative and exploratory practice pursued in solitude. A Poetic Journey: "Whitewater" stands as a rich and deeply poetic achievement-a sound voyage of considerable delicacy and enchantment, which reinvents the bagpipe as a portal to profound listening. Somewhere between krautrock, noise rock, decaying psychedelia, and pagan proto-punk, Dééfait makes music like one performs a ritual: in trance, on repeat, and without a safety net. From the chaotic arteries of Mexico City to the basement venues of the Paris suburbs, Dééfait sculpts noise rock in apnea. Their self-titled debut EP is a noise rite: a wall of guitars, incantatory percussion, and possessed voices. With Dééfait, sound twists, repeats, stretches, until exhaustion and ecstasy. Formed in 2023, Dééfait brings together the Valero brothers (Lucas on guitar / Pablo, ex-Pays P, on drums), Enir Da (bass - Temir Alcy, Dali Muru & the Polyphonic Swarm), Grégoire Couvert (guitar), and Riki Lara, a Mexican-born vocalist and performer whose lyrics _ chanted, whispered, shouted _ alternate in three languages: English, Spanish, and French. Active on the Paris underground scene since 2024 (La Mécanique Ondulatoire, Le Cirque Électrique, Nouveaux Sauvages_), Dééfait imposes a ritual tension, physical, almost hallucinatory. No choruses to hum along to, no comforting melodies _ just a dense sonic flow that seeps and vibrates. This debut EP, set for release in December 2025 on Ici, d'ailleurs (Zëro, Matt Elliott, Bruit Noir_), lines up six long tracks resembling pagan litanies. Six extended pieces forming a possessed monologue, as if a camera had been slipped inside a burning body. Everything pants. Everything overflows. From We Love Each Other So Much That We Won't Belong To Any Species Anymore, love exceeds expected forms and becomes an organic pact, a ritual of species departure: "Cut me like you want, in bloom your fire," "We scratch consanguinity / We don't belong to any species anymore." It quickly suggests a call to ecstasy, to trance. The EP as a whole navigates unstable zones where desire, sacrifice, and alienation entwine like serpents on acid. Molokh 8 chants an offering to a carnivorous deity, between severed tongue and chemical body. In Bondbondbond, voices entangle, seek each other in a delirious, sensual chiaroscuro where pleasure derails into compulsion. It's a dogma-free ceremony, a game of inverted masks. Alether _ a live-explosive track and perhaps the most powerful of this first project _ shatters frameworks: convulsive dancing, possessed rhythms drowned by waves of guitar. Finally, Ferreri, cook for us closes the EP as a dark farce: a deviant homage to Italian filmmaker Marco Ferreri, the track chews and regurgitates words as if digesting an overfed world. Recorded in the chaos of DIY and mixed as a raw work, the record captures Dééfait's electric discharge in its purest state. The sound is dirty, visceral, possessed. Think Terminal Cheesecake, Boredoms, Nick Cave-era Birthday Party on acid, but also CAN impaled on an autopsy table, or a Giallo under a strobe light_ Yet it emerges as a singular work.

Joe Harriott"s High Spirits (1965), is a post-bop album featuring the British/Jamaican saxophonist"s quintet playing interpretations of tunes from the Noël Coward musical of the same name, this album is characterized by its melodic, swinging, and accessible nature, featuring strong, lyrical work from Harriott and trumpeter Shake Keane, with arrangements by pianist Pat Smythe. Unlike the more "free-form" experiments Harriott was known for at the time, High Spirits sticks to a more traditional hard-swinging, post-bop style, the quintet"s arrangements and, crucially, their improvisational skills, rescue it from being a commercial or bland effort. Les Baxter The Passions (1954) featuring Bas Sheva is an experimental, avant-garde, exotica masterpiece with Bas Sheva"s dramatic vocals, ranging from moans, grunts, and shrieks to melodic singing...portraying intense emotions like "Despair" and "Lust," paired with Baxter"s complex, orchestral, and percussive arrangements. Dark, intense, and highly theatrical, it is often described as a cross between a 1950s film score and avant-garde music.Bas Sheva"s voice is like another instrument, wordless, anguished, or ecstatic shrieks abound, and blend well with Baxter"s usual adventurous scoring. Shady Nasty subvert expectations. In a world bound by modded cars, immigrant heritage and digital obsessions, Kevin Stathis, Haydn Green and Luca Watson craft a left-field breed of punk that pushes their formal training in jazz and classical music to its most uncustomary extremes. Influences like King Krule and Low Life surface not as reference points, but as undercurrents absorbed and reconfigured into something unmistakably their own. Debut album TREK has surpassed 2M streams - named one of Rolling Stone Australia's 50 Best Australian Albums of 2025. Fred again.. co-sign ("literally my favourite band in the world right now") drove a major viral surge, leading to collaborative singles "Air Maxes" and "HARDSTYLE 2" (with Fred again.. & KETTAMA), BBC Radio 1 Hottest Record. Sold-out UK debut at The Windmill, London; sold-out album shows across Australia; national support for The Streets (Sydney Opera House Forecourt, Palace Foreshore Melbourne, Fremantle Arts Centre).

They offer a path towards hippiesque stage shows, classic E-organ hues, excess and Sixties rock flair - played by young faces. Their genre is psychedelic rock - but do not miss out on the subtle Blues and Folk traces hidden in there! Established in 2022, the band is already awaiting the release of their second studio album called "Dawns on Mental Highways" in June and making their way onto the various stages of their home region - the Nuremberg Metropolitan area, Southern Germany. The Citadel - Vintage mixed with contemporary vibes, freshly served psychedelic lifestyle! Album description: Here is the second studio album by the German Psychedelic Rock Band The Citadel.

It is a curious mixture of musical styles reminiscent of the time around 1967, when bands experimented in the studio and paved new paths. So maybe, the album title "Dawns on Mental Highways" reflects the stance towards their music. Or maybe it hints at something different. Who can tell? All you need to do is listen, and there is a lot to hear: The singer seems to have a fragile voice, yet shouts her Dylanesque lyrics angrily from time to time. The organ player soaks half of the songs with a classic acid sound. The guitar player acts a folky one, throwing in acoustic tunes and flute, before bashing into heavy electric riffs. The bass player is unusually jumpy on his Tropicana-fused lines while the drummer dances and stomps easily as needed.

  • B5: The Ones That Stayed

RocAmeriKKKa 3 marks the third and most refined chapter in the ongoing alliance between Flee Lord and ETO—two architects of modern East Coast street rap whose chemistry is rooted in precision, pain, and unfiltered realism.

Building on the foundation laid by the previous installments, RocAmeriKKKa 3 sharpens the series’ core aesthetic: cinematic production, stark lyricism, and an uncompromising portrayal of survival and ambition. Flee Lord’s militant cadence and razor-edged delivery collide seamlessly with ETO’s calculated, introspective bars, creating a dynamic that feels both confrontational and methodical. The result is a body of work that operates like a street manifesto—cold, deliberate, and unapologetic.

The album is elevated by a heavyweight supporting cast. Conway The Machine brings his signature steel-plated intensity, reinforcing the project’s Griselda-adjacent grit. NEMS injects raw, high-energy aggression, while Vel Nine adds sharp lyricism and perspective that cut clean through the production. Starz Coleman and Mummz contribute distinct textures, expanding the sonic palette without compromising the project’s hard-edged identity.

Sonically, RocAmeriKKKa 3 leans into brooding loops, stripped-down drums, and ominous sample work—production that leaves space for bars to breathe while maintaining a sense of tension throughout. There are no gimmicks here—just calculated storytelling, street philosophy, and the kind of lived-in authenticity that defines both artists’ catalogs.

As the third installment, this project doesn’t merely continue the series—it solidifies it. RocAmeriKKKa 3 stands as a testament to consistency, evolution, and the discipline of two emcees who understand that longevity in this lane is built on substance, not spectacle.

The seven tracks are imbued with a sound that is at times harsh and angular, yet always cultivates a dreamlike and sometimes epic imagery. It is the first album with vocals by the talented Elisa Brusati (then the singer of Noema) and lyrics by drummer and synth player Federico Rivoli. This choice has strengthened the band's cinematic and expressive inspiration, which in previous albums was entirely instrumental. The guitar and bass parts complement a less prominent use of synths and keyboards compared to the last album, "From Sunset to Dawn" although there is no shortage of themes and long psychedelic digressions, such as in the songs "Hidden Places" and "Sleeping Brain".

French composer Sylvain Bombled aka Mayerling is back on HITD with ‘Finis Terrae’, marking the project's first album in 8 years.

In the winter of 2025, the musician came up with these five pieces while in solitary retreat on the northern coast of Ouessant, the westernmost island of metropolitan France. The rough weather, the awe-inspiring beauty of the surroundings and the majestic grandeur of the natural elements play a pivotal role in each composition, allowing Mayerling to delve into his innermost thoughts and reflect on humans’ vulnerability facing nature.

In this work, he employs shoegaze synths, field recordings and atmospheric layers to mirror and relate the wide spectrum of emotions he encountered during the adventure of a lifetime on the secluded island. The result is an impressively extensive and personal showcase of electronic music, ranging from krautrock to downtempo and pure ambient music, keeping the listener engaged and the experience captivating from start to finish.

  • 10: Bitter Honey

Bitter Honey is the new album by Eric Silverman. Produced in collaboration with Damien Lewis, the album finds Silverman leaving behind the acid-fried desert rock of 2023’s Stay In It for something far more lush and expansive—a collection of ten psychedelic rock, pop, and folk tracks inspired by Peter Gabriel, John Cale, and Jeff Tweedy. Fittingly, the album is named after the “mad honey” of the rhododendron flower, a rare and potent hallucinogenic found high in the Himalayas.
The process of writing and recording the album started in early 2023, when Silverman and longtime collaborator Lewis retreated to a cabin near Nevada City, CA. Over the course of a week they sketched out the bones of nearly half the album, with Silverman recording the guitar solo for album opener “Anthropocene” live in one take during a particularly inspired moment. Meanwhile, “Get In Where You Fit In”, inspired by a bumper sticker Silverman saw heading up the mountain, was recorded on Jerry Garcia’s old 8-track tape machine and features pedal steel by Jake (Freeman) DeJongh. While at the cabin they also captured the field recordings that bookend the album, starting with the intro of “Anthropocene” and ending with the outro of “Bitter Honey” - an infinite loop.

Later on they decamped to Palomino Sound in LA for a round of sessions – tracking “Light Me Up” and “Trapped In Reverse” while making use of the prodigious assortment of vintage instruments at their disposal, including a 65’ Wurlitzer electric piano that became the centerpiece of a number of tracks. Eventually the pair ended up at 2200 Studios (formerly The Record Plant) in Sausalito, CA—a legendary studio where Prince, The Grateful Dead, and Fleetwood Mac made classic records. It was there that they tracked “New Light”, featuring strings by brothers Graham and Lewis Patzner; recorded all of Adam MacDougall’s (The Black Crowes, Circles Around the Sun) overdubs, including his synth leads on “Living the Dream”; and mixed the album in Studio A.

In a lot of ways Bitter Honey is Silverman’s first proper studio album. It’s also the first time Silverman has sat in the producer’s chair, this time around sharing the credit with Lewis. While his debut album was a product of its environment, all first takes and raw energy, Bitter Honey is thoughtful and focused, the best work Silverman has done and the culmination of his decade plus creative partnership with Lewis.
Highly anticipated sophomore album from Eric Silverman. Press coverage includes reviews and features in Raven Sings the Blues, and more.

Kitchen Knife Conspiracy emerged in 1998, blending death metal, hardcore, nu-metal, and thrash metal into a volatile concoction labeled ‘stompcore’ early in the band’s career. Forged in the industrial, run-down steel mills of Youngstown, Ohio, the group has laid down brutal riffs and relentless grooves over the course of five full-length albums, one EP, and a live DVD set.
The band has always diversified their sound from album to album: their debut, Sin-Pathetic, leans proudly into death metal and thrash. Their sophomore effort, Handicapitated, bears influence from hardcore, nu-metal, and sludge. Worst Case in Stereo, recorded and produced by Steve Austin of Today is the Day, “stands firmly in the shadow of grind-kings like Obituary,” as reviewed by Cleveland Scene. Their fourth effort, A Friend in Need...Is a Friend to Kill, incorporates a large dose of thrash and grind. Their most recent album, Seven Deadly Sins, is an ambitious concept record dealing with the faults of man, handing
out hardcore beatdowns with hints of black metal throughout. The future is now at hand as Kitchen Knife Conspiracy signs with a new label as diversified and ambitious as their own discography and issue the 25th Anniversary of Handicapitated on a Limited Edition (250 copies) White and Blue Splatter.
Stompcore looks to expand to a wider audience—a Kitchen Knife
Conspiracy is the blunt force weapon ready to deliver the killing strike.

Soul, jazz-rock, candombe and funk blend in the cocktail of La Banda's first and sole album. Often regarded as Argentina's first supergroup, the ensemble built a reputation on their explosive live performances during a time of political repression. Short-lived but unforgettable, the six-piece brought together top-tier jazz musicians—five Argentinians alongside Uruguayan icon Rubén Rada—to deliver a deep, hard-hitting sound that resonates far beyond its era.

Rada arrived in Buenos Aires bruised — a romantic disaster and a string of empty concert halls back in Montevideo had pushed him to start over at 35. Behind him lay a remarkable journey: from inventing candombe beat with El Kinto, to leading the Latin rock powerhouse Tótem, to recording cosmic jazz with Opa alongside the Fattoruso brothers. Trumpeter Benny Izaguirre, the band's architect, gathered around him a cast of heavyweights: pianist Jorge Navarro, an essential figure in the Buenos Aires jazz scene since the 1950s; saxophonist Bernardo Baraj, forged in Alma y Vida, Argentina's jazz-rock champions; and the irresistible rhythm section of bassist Ricardo Sanz and drummer Luis Ceravolo, both veterans of Astor Piazzolla's quintet. All three — Baraj, Sanz and Ceravolo — were simultaneously part of Banda Spinetta, the jazz-oriented project of Argentine legend Luis Alberto Spinetta.

The sessions also drew in two guests who needed no introduction: guitarist David Lebón — veteran of Pappo's Blues, Pescado Rabioso, Color Humano and Serú Girán, one of Argentine rock's true giants — and guitarist and producer Daniel Homer, a quietly indispensable figure across Buenos Aires' jazz and rock scenes.

Recorded in 1979 and gone almost as soon as it arrived — La Banda's brief existence and this sole album are what Buenos Aires sounded like when it was allowed to breathe. Between raids, between disappearances, in the stolen hours when music was louder than fear.

Born in the Washington, DC area and raised in West Virginia, Miller has built a reputation as a thoughtful, boundary- pushing voice in alt- country and Americana, drawing from punk, traditional Appalachian music, and less conventional rock influences. For this record, he left his comfort zone behind and traveled to Tulsa to record at the legendary Church Studio, drawn by the city's deep musical legacy and its ties to artists like J.J. Cale. Co- produced with longtime collaborator Adam Meisterhans , the album was tracked live with a band of Tulsa- based musicians, including Grammy- nominated John Fullbright, under the steady hand of veteran engineers Gary Laney and Mike Prado. The result is John R. Miller 's most ambitious work to date - a spacious, textured collection that expands on the critically praised Depreciated and Heat Comes Down, blending road- worn storytelling, fuzzy atmospheres, and reflections on movement, memory, and change. Rooted in his West Virginia past yet shaped by constant travel and new collaborations, The Great Unknowing captures an artist trusting the process, embracing risk, and letting the groove lead the way.

Chicago's FIG DISH didn't name themselves after a soft, sweet, fleshy fruit; rather, the name is a phonetic approximation of the German expletive, fick dich, (make of that what you will) FIG DISH were four high school friends: guitarists/ vocalists Rick Ness and Blake Smith, bassist/vocalist Mike Willison, and drummer Andy Hamilton. In their day (a day that began in the late Winter of 1991 and ended in the early summer of 1998), they were known for catchy songs, memorable (often booze-fueled) live shows, and selfsabotage.

The album traverses the musical terrain between contemporary classical music, soundscape, post-bop and free jazz. The jazz of the 1960s has long been a guiding light for Empirical, not least in the way it represented Black musicians" struggle for respect, freedom and civil rights, often drawing on their faith as a moral foundation.

Recorded and mixed by Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in Chicago, the album captures Zu at their most raw and explosive -- where avant-jazz energy collides with the weight of experimental rock. Igneo (2002) by Zu is the band's debut studio album and marks the starting point of their distinctive sonic identity. Even at this early stage, many of the elements that would define their later work are already clearly present. The album emerges from a context deeply rooted in experimentation and exploration. Compared to their subsequent releases, the sound here feels more open and less tightly structured, with a stronger emphasis on improvisation and real- time interaction between the musicians. The trio--baritone sax, electric bass, and drums--develops a language that blends free jazz, noise, post- hardcore, and touches of contemporary composition.

Listening to Igneo, you can sense a balance between raw energy and expressive freedom. The baritone sax shifts between abrasive bursts and more spacious, stretched- out passages, while the bass moves from repetitive grooves into fragmented lines. The drums, in turn, alternate between tight rhythmic frameworks and looser, more fluid playing. There's a constant negotiation between control and release. Unlike the band's later, more disciplined records, the structures here feel more fluid and unpredictable. The tracks don't follow conventional forms; instead, they evolve like living organisms, marked by sudden changes, contrasting sections, and a persistent sense of instability. This gives the album a dynamic, almost volatile character. The title Igneo-- suggesting something fiery and primal-- captures the essence of the record quite well. The music feels warm, raw, and in continuous motion, as if it were constantly on the verge of erupting.
