Nach einer Dekade in der ersten Reihe von Bassmusik/Dubstep geht der britische Produzent Flux Pavilion nun neue Wege. Sein neues Album ".wav" ist ein Meisterwerk aus 16 EDM-Tracks mit Pop-Appeal, auf denen Synths, E-Gitarren und Pop-Melodien dominieren, die nun auch sein Liveprogramm prägen. Dabei verzichtet er nicht auf die bewährten Features, die seine Releases schon immer auszeichneten. Mit dabei sind diesmal die UK Produzenten Feed Me und Chime, das Folk-Pop-Duo Turin Brakes, die kalifornische Shoegaze-Band Drowsy, die New Yorker Sängerin Meesh sowie US-Indietroniker The Chaingang Of 1974. ".wav" ist erhältlich als Gatefold 2LP und Tape.

Die Trilogie ist komplett, und zum ersten Mal überhaupt erscheint Marshmellos „Joytime III“ auf Vinyl in einer speziellen 10-Jahres-Jubiläumsausgabe, die eines seiner bisher ambitioniertesten und kollaborativsten Projekte feiert. Als entscheidender Moment in der Joytime-Saga hat dieses Album den Mello-Sound in neues, mutiges Terrain vorangetrieben und hochoktanige EDM mit emotionalen Melodien und festivaltauglicher Energie vereint.

Aside from being one of Anamanaguchi’s most streamed songs, “Miku,” featuring the vocaloid pop star Hatsune Miku, is an anthem for a new type of musical icon, one that doesn’t need to be attached to a physical human body. Miku, which was officially released in 2013, is a Vocaloid software voicebank developed by Crypton Future Media. Her voice is based around Japanese actress Saki Fujita and uses Yamaha Corporation's Vocaloid 2, Vocaloid 3, and Vocaloid 4 singing synthesizing technologies. Anamanaguchi wrote “Miku” with the virtual musician and were the first band to perform live alongside the Hatsune Miku hologram on the Miku Expo tour in 2016. Since then, the song has been streamed tens of millions of times around the globe and given way to several viral TikTok moments with 20K+ unique videos, signature dance moves, and millions of views.

Consistently engaging their audience in both the real world and the virtual internet-sphere, Anamanaguchi has had TV performances on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and Adult Swim’s Fish Center, multiple appearances at Porter Robinson’s Secret Sky Fest, and co-curated one of the first major live stream events for indie musicians with the Nether Meant Festival, which was featured in the New

York Times and The Washington Post. The band has also continued to stay true to a uniquely cohesive collaborative spirit, sharing tracks with artists such as HANA, Planet 1999, Flux Pavilion, Porter Robinson, Dorian Electra, Pussy Riot, Village People, and POCHI.

For 2022, Polyvinyl is proud to announce the release of Miku on vinyl for the first time. The release will feature the original composition as well as 8 bonus versions of the song including remixes from LLLL, Carpainter, Ben Aqua, Mino Mino, Lazerdisk, as well as an NES version, a Japanese version, and an instrumental version.

Brand new in name but certainly not in heritage: Bass player Fatty is a founder member of Submotion Orchestra and has played with the likes of Newham Generals, Andreya Triana and Outlook Orchestra. Illaman is one of the fizziest, most versatile MCs in the game with a previous that flexes from Goldie’s live band to Flux Pavilion co-labs. Pravvy Prav, meanwhile, has a long career smashing tubs for Foreign Beggars, Jorja Smith, Gentleman’s Dub Club, Maverick Sabre and Jehst.

PENGSHUi is the latest project in this shared line of credentials. And quite possibly the heaviest, too. A raucous fusion of punk, grime, metal, bass and beats, PENGSHUi adds to a slow-cooking piquant gumbo of uncompromised sonic fire that’s been bubbling since 1986 when Run DMC and Aerosmith advised us to walk in a certain direction. Always bubbling but never over-boiled into a flavourless formulaic gloop, the fusion of metal and electronics still feels fresh, unruly and energetic over 30 years later.
