As the debut title of SNK’s most iconic fighting game franchise, KOF ‘94, composed by Masahiko Hataya as part of the SNK NEO Sound Orchestra, laid the groundwork for the KOF series’ beloved music.

OK, it’s taken us to get to our 11th release for some filthy organ funk to grace the label, and who better than The King Rooster.
Hailing from London, The King Rooster are a heavy funk quartet consisting of Ian Stevens on bass, Mark Claydon on drums (both
from another heavy funk band - The Getup), Sam Montero on keys and James Forster on guitar.
Collectively the band have played, recorded and shared stages with the likes of Sir Joe Quaterman, JTQ, Gizelle Smith, Reuben
Wilson, Speedometer Pee Wee Ellis and many more.
The band have released a clutch of heavy duty organ funk 45s on various labels over the last few years (Our Label, FNR, Dinked,
Burning Soul) and a spectacular LP, also on Dinked. But it was when we heard ‘Snitchin’, Stitchin’ & Bitchin’ on Funk Night Records
that we decided 45 Live needed some Rooster funk on the label!
It is entirely evident that the guys all have a deep love for raw funk, that gritty, slightly shambolic garage sound, punchy instrumentals
designed to hit you in the gut, pure soul from the pure funk perspective. It’s all about the ‘nasty face’!
Here we have 2 hard hitting organ screamers kicking off with ‘Snake Bait’ on the A side, a raucous 144bpm dancefloor burner.
Scratchy guitar, thumping bass and manic drums underpin a swirling and ever building Hammond Organ into a firey crescendo.
Whilst over on the B ‘Stickin’ it’ takes some cues from The Meters sound with its trance like organ riffs and bluesy flavour. It’s a raw
mid-tempo head nodder which, like the A side, keeps building and building into such a cookin’ groove.

Imagine deserted volcanic wasteland, freezing winds and the all-embracing darkness of the longest winters on this planet: The obvious inspiration for rather vicious and somber tunes for lonely evening hours that the biggest part of Iceland’s heavy music scene is known for. Who would even dare to think of tales about brave warriors and mystical creatures coming from such an island? Power metal seemed like a fairytale until 2017 when Reykjavík based sextet POWER PALADIN (originally founded as PALADIN) rose in quest of carrying out their uplifting tunes and finally proving everyone wrong. On an island known for its musical doom and gloom, they are the midnight sun. “Iceland has such a great representation of extreme metal. We didn’t feel we had much to add to that scene so why shouldn’t we do the complete opposite?” the band recall their origins. A truly wise decision! Their first live performances and demo releases were of such good reception that they were booked for Iceland’s main underground festivals, Eistnaflug and Norðanpaunk, and subsequently played at one of the country’s biggest music events, Iceland Airwaves, in 2019. Highly praised as a “standout” act by The Reykjavík Grapevine, POWER PALADIN kept crafting material at Windfyre Studios, composing their 9-track strong debut album titled »With The Magic Of Windfyre Steel«. The opus is a historical landmark for both the group and Atomic Fire Records, being the label’s first full-length release since its recent founding. “We actually started to write some of these tunes in the very beginning of our band history and captured them over the course of about two years at various places: at Ingi’s bedroom, at Atli and Bjarni’s workplace, at a cabin outside Reykjavik etc.”, POWER PALADIN say about their approach to songwriting and recording. Strut present a definitive vinyl edition of the groundbreaking compilation 'Nigeria 70'. Originally released in 2001, the collection set the benchmark for a new generation of archive labels and releases mining the vaults for rare Afro funk and Afro jazz fusions and helped to paint the wider picture of the 1970s Lagos scene beyond Fela Kuti's catalogue for a legion of soul, funk and dance music enthusiasts. This definitive reissue features the original LP remastered and pressed on 180g triple vinyl in a gatefold sleeve.
Narrated by Wunmi with commentary by the late Nigerian academic "Elder" Steve Rhodes, this one-hour piece is an essential snapshot of the 1970s Lagos scene and the cultural and political context from many of the key players of the time. It includes interviews with Ginger Baker, Fela Kuti, Ebenezer Obey, Segun Bucknor, Joni Haastrup of Monomono and many more.

Wiseblood is one of the most well-known Corrosion of Conformity albums and was released in 1996 as the fifth studio album by the American heavy metal band. The album charted on the Billboard Top 200 Album Charts and peaked at #104. The history of Corrosion of Conformity in modern heavy music is highly significant, not least due to guitarist Pepper Keenan’s formation of all-star project Down, along with Pantera’s Philip Anselmo and members of Crowbar.

Wiseblood includes the tracks “Drowning in a Daydream”, which was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 40th Grammy Awards, and “Man Or Ash”, on which Metallica’s James Hetfield provides backing vocals.

Canadian Deathcore pioneers DESPISED ICON celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2022, so it’s about time to re-discover the beginnings of the band! The group’s debut album “Consumed By Your Poison” (2002) and their sophomore album “The Healing Process” (2005) are now available again via Century Media Records, both on limited coloured 180g vinyl with new vinyl mastering as well as a bonus CD and also as Jewelcase CD with selected additional bonus tracks from the band’s 2008 DVD-show. “Consumed By Your Poison” is actually available for the first time ever on vinyl and “The Healing Process” comes with alternate, previously unreleased mix/mastering Yannick St-Amand. Deathcore at its very best!

Stup Religion' is the second album of the French band Stupeflip,
originally released in 2005
It takes up the formula of the first album by prolonging their universe: bad taste
humour, provocative riffs, and lyrics sometimes absurd at first sight, but which
often have a hidden meaning. The musical genre of the album is unclassifiable,
between rap, rock and French variety, the various characters of the imaginary
universe of the group can be understood as having different musical tastes.
Indeed, the character of Pop Hip is a dissident who wants to make hits and pop
songs, whereas King Ju is a character who seems threatening and who will find
himself more in tracks mixing rap and metal. 'Stup Religion' is an unclassifiable
but stands out as a cult album of French rap of the last 15 years. 2021 edition
with remastered cover and double transparent orange vinyl.

The classic debut LP by Dub Narcotic Sound System, originally released on K Records and unavailable on vinyl for 25 years. The oddball indie-funk collective Dub Narcotic Sound System was spearheaded by vocalist Calvin Johnson, the former frontman of the legendary Beat Happening as well as the founder of the famed K Records label. Named in honor of Johnson's own Olympia, WA-based basement studio Dub Narcotic, the project was begun in 1994 with a rapid-fire series of funk-, rap-, and reggae-influenced singles including "Bite," "Fuck Shit Up," "Booty Run," and "Shake-a-Puddin'"; from the outset Johnson was the group's sole constant member, although over the course of subsequent releases, including the EPs Industrial Breakdown, Ridin' Shotgun, and Ship to Shore, the revolving lineup grew to include Olympia scenesters like Lois Maffeo as well as Larry Butler, Todd Ranslow, and Brian Weber, all three members of the hip-hop unit Dead Presidents. The first Dub Narcotic Sound System full-length, Rhythm Record, Vol. One: Echoes From the Scene Control Room, appeared in 1995; later efforts included 1996's Boot Party and 1998's Out of Your Mind. Sideways Soul, a collaboration with Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, followed in 1999. Trouser Press wrote that "when not delving deep into the usual sorts of ambient studio trickery, the songs hit a '60s R&B stride, bathing in the stoned soul picnic ambience with uplifting spirit."

A Beautiful Revolution Pt. 2 was created with hope and inspiration in mind. The spirit of the album was meant to emulate what a greater day would sound and feel like. King Tubby and Producer Bunny ‘Striker’ Lee are intertwined in the birth of Dub Music. After discovering a mistake that made a ‘serious joke’ they went on to release the first pressings of this new musical genre namely ‘Dub Music’. Tubby’s vast knowledge of electronics and Bunny’s vast catalogue of rhythms would lay the foundations of what today is taken as a standard...the Remix / Version cuts to an existing vocal tune. Sit back and enjoy this historic set of sounds. These releases were the first to carry the name of King Tubby and the first to credit the great musicians that contributed so much to the rhythms that made these albums possible.

Old Children is the latest multi-headed beast alliance of hip-hop minds HPBLK (HYPERBOLIC), Booda French and King Kashmere who takes the helm handling the production duties of the project.

On Push Start; HPBLK and Booda trade bars carved from out of this world imagery, left field references and forward-thinking quantum streams of thought over King Kashmere’s hypnotic futuristic lo-tech cosmic slop. A slick 6 track affair (also featuring Ramson Badbonez and DJ Jazz-T) this short but sweet project is a glimpse of what the magical trio have to offer.

Originally released on cassette in 1994 and now for the first time on vinyl, this is an incredible document from a teenage Arrington de Dionyso. All the seeds of his 30+ career are engrained on these fully formed Tascam recordings. From Arrington: "Orga Ar is how Old Time Relijun came into being. It was the first time I ever had a "real" drummer (Bryce Panic) come in to give me some tracks to build songs with, and then I had Aaron come in and play upright bass on one tune (Qiyamat). When they heard the tape they both asked me if I had ever thought about starting a band and getting some shows organized. It's so weird to imagine now, because I really didn't have my shit together to do the kind of live performance I wanted to do all by myself. So the idea was that we would start with the songs on the tape but allow them to "breathe" in the live setting. I think at first I really wanted the band to be mostly improvisational, and just using the lyrics as a way to have continuity. But after a lot of trial and error in setting up our own shows we decided that having a more structured setlist had better results in getting people to dance. The Olympia scene at that time was kind of "anti-dance party"- most of the punk shows downtown were heavily politicized and were more about the connected activism than about the music per se. For me at the time, I felt like the REAL "political statement" that needed to be made was for the music to be an affirmation of one's physicality, that movement and enthusiasm were both OK and sometimes necessary for self-and-social liberation. We weren't popular at all in the "scene" until years later, in fact all of our US tours were disastrous until we were invited to tour in Europe by an Italian fan who organized everything in 12 different countries. In pre-internet era Olympia, our only aims were playing fun shows for our friends, with little regard for reaching the outside world."
