"Chewing The Fat" marks a new chapter for Franc Moody.

This album delves into the duo's creative depths, breaking away from traditional norms and

showcasing a more refined sound than their earlier work.

Partially recorded at LA 64 Sounds Studio and Damon Albarn’s Studio 13 in West London,

the album’s sonic landscape is significantly shaped by Albarn’s collection of synthesizers,

especially some Russian models.

Drawing inspiration from live performances by Massive Attack and LCD Soundsystem,

the result is a sound that leans less toward disco,

embracing a grungier, more gritty attitude.

The Montreal rapper's new opus is at once deeply introspective and a wide-eyed embrace of the world. Produced by longtime collaborators Adrian X and Kevin Figs, this sonically adventurous follow-up to her two-part debut Godspeed: Baptism (Prelude), released in 2020, and Godspeed: Elevated (2021) finds her stretching her wings lyrically, vocally and musically.

Naya Ali's journey to We Did The Damn Thing took hard work, sacrifice, faith, and sweat, as represented on the album cover : “Our sweat has trickled down from our braids for generations”. The song The Heist completely embodies the cutthroat energy and hard work that fuels Naya’s music. Yet, We Did The Damn Thing shows there’s more to her artistry. From the dark, ominous More Life, Less Names, a defiant anthem about protecting your peace, to the country-inspired renegade spirit of Turning Tables, and the Afrobeats-infused warmth of Life, where she stepped out of her comfort zone by singing instead of rapping, it is clear that Naya Ali has decided to embrace her versatility as an artist. Beyond the classic, 808-heavy beats, We Did The Damn Thing is a gospel-infused album grounded in live instruments, especially the electric guitar. Naya also took on a larger role in production, leading the choirs and working on vocal production for the songs Life, Jericho and Freedom Creepin.

When a Freckle pops up, that’s when you know that the sun has gotten through. Don’t let ‘em tell you it’s skin damage – more like the sign of time well spent, as always, in the light. Freckle the band’s like that. Freckle is, then, a Californian, the hive mind of Corey Madden and Ty Segall. This LP reminds all of us that when the clouds are out you can still get sunburned.

Vintage-Pariser Jazz. Vintage-Pariser Ambiente. Paris hat schon immer Jazzmusiker aus aller Welt in seine Clubs & Cafés gelockt. Paris ist insbesondere die spirituelle Heimat des Gypsy-Jazz, wo viele Jazzmusiker in der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts in den Bals-Musettes der Stadt spielten. Django Reinhardt machte sich in den 1930/40ern mit dem Geiger Stéphane Grappelli und seinem Quintette du Hot Club de France einen Namen, ebenso wie mit den Bands von Alex Renard, Alix Combelle, Ray Ventura, Claude Bolling und Jerry Mango. Dieser LP-Sampler gibt einen hervorragenden Überblick über die damalige Szene, als kurz nach dem Krieg die Viertel Saint-Germain des Prés und Latin zahlreiche berühmte Jazzclubs beherbergten. Alle Tracks wurden remastert.

Six songs that are worth it. Manic electropunk that somehow - consciously or as collateral damage - manages to pack that seventies goblin horror movie vibe (on one track it's also a video game soundtrack) into catchy and contemporary songs that just move forward. Big guitars, big synthesizer, big drum beats and those nasty melodies that can still accelerate demons in 2023. A bit of VOLT could be mentioned as a reference, but the band from mighty, mighty Offenbach (for a world career I would suggest Frankfurt) clearly has its own flair and, despite the home recording, seems so powerful that it hurts. Compared to the Bandcamp stream on vinyl and a decent system, “Havana Syndrome” sounds much more powerful. The almost cheap beatbox is the real icing on the cake, because the guitar, the bass and, above all, that divinely played synthesizer are so amazing that I'm inclined to want a child from a band for the first time. I'll tell you straight away, it won't be pretty, but at least it'll be talented. Exquisite 12”, which especially calls for a second helping! Die 'weiße' LP GREATEST HITS" ist erstmals 1977 bei RAK erschienen und war nach einer Reihe von Top Hits die erste "offizielle" Best Of von Smokie.
Mit den Singles aus den ersten drei Alben, die für diese Kopplung ausgewählt wurden, sind schon reichlich Hits versammelt. Die zur Erstveröffentlichung bis dato völlig neuen 'Non-Album' Tracks sind dann allerdings für den Aufstieg der LP in den Legenden-Status verantwortlich. 'Living Next Door To Alice' wurde als erste neue Single ausgekoppelt und ein Welterfolg sondergleichen. Mit 'Lay Back In The Arms Of Someone' hat das Album zudem eine zweite neue Single, die ebenfalls zum Top-Hit avancierte. Das Album erreichte Platin Status in Deutschland, war 67 Wochen in den Charts, davon allein 8 Wochen auf der 1 und auch in vielen anderen Ländern in den Top 10, darunter mit einer #6 Platzierung auch der heimische Markt der Band, England.
Da die Erfolgsserie mit den folgenden Alben und Singles wie ‚'Mexican Girl'‚ 'It's Your Life' oder 'Needles And Pins' anhielt erschien 1980 die 'goldene' GREATEST HITS VOL.2 und wurde ein weiteres Chart-Album für die Band. Ebenso wie die erste Greatest Hits ist auch Vol 2 durch verschiedene Vertragswechsel bis heute nicht wieder neu aufgelegt worden. Bis heute! Jetzt werden beide Alben zusammengefasst und zudem mit einigen weiteren Erfolgstitel, die der Erstveröffentlichung nachgelagert waren, ergänzt. Damit sind diese Kult-LP endlich wieder aufgelegt und das auch gleich noch auf hochwertigem 180g Vinyl die sich auf dem Plattenteller in strahlendem Weiß präsentieren .

"Future Bubblers" ist Teil des Gilles Peterson-Netzwerks, wird vom Arts Council England unterstützt und fungiert als Startrampe für aufstrebende Künstler mit einem kooperativen Modell, bei dem die Einnahmen direkt mit den Künstlern geteilt werden und ihnen so geholfen wird, ein nachhaltiges Einkommen zu erzielen. Die neueste Ausgabe "Future Bubblers 8.0" verschmelzt auf eklektische Weise die Welten von R&B, Soul, Funk, Rap und elektronischer Musik in ihren vielen Formen. Eine erweiterte Version des Albums erschien unter dem Titel "Yearbook 1" auf CD und erreichte Platz 23 der Pitchfork-Jahresliste der Top-Alben des Jahres 2007. "West Coast" landete schließlich auf Platz 57 auf der "Best Albums of the Decade"-Liste von FACT Magazine.

At the height of his career he produced his One Way band members, Alicia Myers debut solo album, Alicia featuring both tracks on this release. Zur Feier des 30. Geburtstags von Frank Blacks bahnbrechendem Solo-Album "Teenager Of The Year" erscheint eine spezielle Pressung auf goldfarbenem Vinyl. Frank Blacks ambitioniertes 22-Track-Album erschien im Mai 1994, nur ein Jahr nach seinem fantastischen, selbstbetitelten Solo-Debüt. Es entstand in einer Zeit, in der die Pixies auf Eis lagen. "Teenager Of The Year", das mit Szene-Legende Eric Drew Feldman (Captain Beefheart"s Magic Band, Pere Ubu, The Residents) aufgenommen wurde und u. a. die Single "Headache" enthält, wird von vielen als sein bestes Solowerk angesehen. Es erschien sowohl in der Pitchfork-Umfrage zu den Top-100-Alben der 1990er Jahre als auch im Buch "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die". Anlässlich des Jubiläums gehen Frank Black und seine Originalband im Januar 2025 auf eine 14-tägige Tournee durch Nordamerika, Paris und London, bei der sie das Album jeden Abend von Anfang bis Ende spielen werden. Passend dazu veröffentlicht 4AD die neue Vinyl-Edition, für die Kevin Vanbergen das Album von den originalen analogen Studiobändern aufwendig remastert hat.
