Gegründet 2017 in Bristol, hat die vierköpfige Band bisher ein Album veröffentlicht - ihre Debüt LP 'All Gas No Brakes' (Alcopop! ) - sowie eine Reihe von EPs, allesamt bei Balley Records, dem Label von IDLES, mit denen die Band eine enge Freundschaft verbindet. Sie waren zusammen auf Tour und haben sogar eine gemeinsame Split 7" veröffentlicht. Auch als Support für The Oh Sees, Portishead und Metz konnte man Heavy Lungs schon bestaunen. Iggy Pop spielt ihre Songs regelmäßig in seiner Sendung auf BBC 6Music.

Heavy Lungs berufen sich auf verschiedene Referenzen - von Danny Brown bis zu Iggy's Stooges -, die Hinweise auf ihren Sound geben können oder eben auch nicht. Sie beschreiben sich selbst schlicht als „eine laute Band aus Bristol“.

Ihr zweites Album 'Caviar', das innerhalb von 10 Tagen in den Humm Studios aufgenommen wurde, besteht aus 11 Songs und zeigt die erstaunliche Fähigkeit der Band, nicht nur in einen Groove einzutauchen, sondern auch heftig aus ihm herauszuspringen.

Hollows Made Homes In Their Sunken Cheeks came into existence as a result of Jon's wishes to take the Ungraven sound somewhere other than a standard 'rock band' setup. Moving away from the traditional 'drums / bass / guitar' structure has allowed Ungraven to experiment further with both sound and composition. 'Hollows_.' Is an experiment in sonics and allows both Davis and Perry to perform a sickening sonic duet as their respective instruments carve a universe shaped hole in your consciousness. Inspired by the duo's past collaborations on Conan tracks such as "Older than Earth" and "Grief Sequence" as well as artists such as Tangerine Dream, Circle, Zombi and Harold Budd. Hollows is a combination of composed and improvised elements, constructed remotely from their bases in England and Denmark. The addition of Perry's synth, organ and piano to Davis's slab like 6 string delivery has produced two epics that are both introspective and pummelling at the same time. Fall untethered into a bleak and expansive soundscape of psychedelic terror, experience a new chapter in Ungraven's tome of tone.

Smoove ist einer der produktivsten und beständigsten, britischen Produzenten, ob als Komponist/Produzent seiner Geordie-Soul-Band Smoove & Turrell, als Produzent hinter der hochgeschätzten Multitrack-Vinyl-Re-Edits-Serie oder als Remixer für zahlreiche Hip-Hop/Soul/Funk-Acts. Abgesehen von Smoove & Turrell war sein erster Soloauftritt bei Jalapeno Records eine Zusammenstellung einiger seiner besten Remixe, die in einem DJ-freundlichen Paket mit dem Titel "First Class" 2012 zusammengefasst waren. 2019 folgte die zweite Sammlung namens "Recorded Delivery" und nun geht es mit dem Remix-DJ-Paket #3 "Heavy Goods" weiter. Kerrigan sind eine der hoffnungsvollsten deutschen Newcomer-Bands aus dem Bereich des traditionellen Heavy Metal. 2019 in Freiburg als Nebenprojekt der Funeral-Doomer Lone Wanderer von Bruno S. (Gitarre, Bass) und Jonas W. (Gesang, Gitarre) gegründet, veröffentlichten High Roller Records 2023 das von der Presse in den höchsten Tönen gelobte Debütalbum »Bloodmoon«. Die Scheibe enterte in der metallischen Fachpresse sogar die eine oder andere Jahresbestenliste. Wegen der großen Nachfrage haben sich High Roller Records nun dazu entschieden, auch das Mini-Album »Heavy Metal 2020« wieder für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich zu machen. Bruno S. und Jonas W. hatten im Jahre 2020 vier Stücke als Demo-Tape aufgenommen: das Titelstück “ Heavy Metal 2020”, “Intruders”, “Force And Will” sowie die Coverversion von “Rest In Peace” der englischen Wolf. Fucking Kill Records sorgten später für eine limitierte Veröffentlichung auf Kassette und Vinyl. Ursprünglich war das Material während eines Jams für die Hauptband von Bruno und Jonas entstanden, die Doom-Formation Lone Wanderer. “Mit Lone Wanderer machen wir eigentlich genau das Gegenteil von Kerrigan”, lacht Gitarrist und Bassist Bruno: “Langsam, tief dröhnend und depressiv. Da nimmt man sich spielerisch sehr zurück, weshalb sich Kerrigan manchmal wie ein Befreiungsschlag anfühlt. Es erinnert mich auch an die Jugend, als ich meinen ersten Gitarrenhelden nacheiferte.” Ein prägendes Merkmal von Kerrigan sind die teilweise doppelstimmig gespielten Gitarrenleads, die im Ansatz auch bereits auf »Heavy Metal 2020« zu hören waren. Mit “Rest In Peace” verbeugten sich Kerrigan seinerzeit vor der NWOBHM, wie Gitarrist und Sänger Jonas bestätigt: “Ja, Wolf war eine der Bands, die wir während der frühen Jam-Phasen sehr intensiv gehört haben, und ‘Rest In Peace’ ist einfach ein Überhit! An den Größen Maiden und Priest kommt man eh nicht vorbei, diese Einflüsse können wir nicht abstreiten. Neben den NWOBHM-Bands lief bei mir aber auch sehr viel Heavy Load oder frühe Accept, deren ‘Neon Nights’ in unserer Demophase wohl die teutonische Entsprechung zu ‘Rest In Peace’ war, was die Dauerschleife angeht.” Mit Sicherheit werden wir von Kerrigan in Zukunft noch viel hören. Jetzt ist es allerdings erstmal an der Zeit, sich noch einmal dem Frühwerk dieses hoffnungsvollen Newcomer-Acts zu widmen. Lehnt euch zurück, dreht den Lautstärkeregler auf und genießt »Heavy Metal 2020«.
