Erfolg kommt selten über Nacht – so auch nicht bei MilleniumKid. Vor acht Jahren begann er, sich autodidaktisch das Produzieren von Musik beizubringen, verbrachte unzählige Stunden damit, sich als Singer-Songwriter und Produzent weiterzuentwickeln und veröffentlichte 2022 seine erste eigene Musik. Doch erst 2023 sollte sich für ihn alles ändern: Seine Single „Unendlichkeit" wird zum viralen Hit, steigt bis auf Platz 34 der Offiziellen Deutschen Singlecharts und ist der Beginn eines steilen Aufstiegs: Die folgenden Singles werden millionenfach gestreamt (allein „Vielleicht Vielleicht" hat über 60 Millionen Streams), seine erste Tour, bei der MilleniumKid zum ersten Mal überhaupt live auf der Bühne steht, ist sofort ausverkauft und im Sommer 2024 spielt er auf großen Festivals wie dem Deichbrand.

Den eigenen Schmerz herausschreien – die Songs von MilleniumKid haben etwas unglaublich Befreiendes. Die Stimmung ist oft düster, die Melancholie förmlich mit Händen zu greifen. Doch indem MilleniumKid seine Emotionen rauslässt, sie in gleißende Synthieflächen, treibende Produktionen und große Melodien kleidet, entfalten seine Songs eine befreiende Wirkung. Der junge Pollini mit Chopins Etüden Op. 10 & 25 - neu remastered - jetzt auch auf LP:
„Dieser Junge spielt besser als jeder von uns!“, kommentierte der legendäre Arthur Rubinstein das Spiel des 18-jährigen Maurizio Pollini. Es war das Jahr 1960 und Rubinstein saß in der Jury des Internationalen Chopin-Wettbewerbs, bei dem Pollini den ersten Preis holte. Mit einem Schlag lag dem jungen Pianisten die Musikwelt zu Füßen. EMI bot ihm einen Exklusiv-Vertrag an und noch im selben Jahr entstanden zwei Einspielungen: Chopins Klavierkonzert in e-Moll sowie die Etüden Op. 10 und 25. Doch ohne Erklärung untersagte Pollini die zweite Veröffentlichung und zog sich spontan aus dem Medienrummel zurück. Erst in reifen Jahren änderte Pollini seine Meinung, 2011 erlaubte er die späte Herausgabe. Zu Ehren des 2024 verstorbenen Pianisten erscheint die Einspielung von 1960 nun remastered und in hoher Auflösung.

Sven Åke Johansson & Rüdiger Carl – Villa Hügel (JUBG 04)

For over half a century, Sven Åke Johansson and Rüdiger Carl have explored the boundaries of music together. Villa Hügel captures a rare moment: a concert with no audience, recorded in 2020 in the library of Villa Hügel during the 2 x Kippenberger exhibition. The few present could only experience it in-house via TV transmission. Carl on accordion, Johansson on percussion, cardboard, and crackle box—an interplay of structure and openness, sound and silence. This release follows Johansson’s exhibition Osram at JUBG in 2025.

Seit über 50 Jahren erkunden Sven Åke Johansson und Rüdiger Carl gemeinsam die Grenzen der Musik. Villa Hügel dokumentiert ein Konzert ohne Publikum, gespielt 2020 in der Bibliothek der Villa Hügel während der Ausstellung 2 x Kippenberger. Die wenigen Anwesenden konnten es nur hausintern über eine TV-Übertragung erleben. Carl am Akkordeon und Johansson an Percussion, Karton und Crackle-Box schaffen ein Spiel zwischen Struktur und Offenheit, Klang und Stille. Das Album erscheint im Kontext von Johanssons Ausstellung Osram in der Galerie JUBG, 2025.

bandleader before his tenure with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and later Miles Davis' Second Great Quintet. This album showcases Shorter's early
compositional voice, blending intricate harmonies with expressive improvisation. His playing is energetic, and the interplay with Freddie Hubbard
creates a rich and engaging dialogue.

This record marks not only the first-ever release of the This War of Mine original game soundtrack but also a milestone 10th anniversary of the game. With its bestselling status, cult following among players, educational usefulness and recognition as a poignant symbol of war's threat to human lives-underscored by honours such as the recent Special Award from Amnesty International-it has been a decade of remarkable success. Yet, we cannot truly celebrate while wars continue to claim lives, stripping away humanity with relentless and senseless cruelty. To mourn in silence, however, would be equally futile. Songs of Silence is a beautiful turn-based strategy game of fantasy warfare. Leading one of the game's distinct factions, it is the player's task to conquer randomized maps through military might, subterfuge or arcane means. Intriguing hero stories grounded in a rich fantasy world create emotional bonds and give meaning to the player's actions. Roguelike meta-game progression, based on heroes' personal stories and unlocking new features and content via playing, ensuring long-time motivation and keeping the game excitingly fresh. The atmospheric soundtrack of the game is composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto, the famous artist behind all-time favourites such as Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy 12 and Valkyria Chronicles. Sakimoto describes his way into creating the soundtrack for Songs of Silence: "Regarding Songs of Silence, the stage design and the world-building are incredibly detailed and meticulously crafted. The settings are thoroughly developed and each region has its own unique culture. Given this highly refined world, I believe that my role was primarily to support and enhance the atmosphere with sound. At the same time, I wanted to ensure that the music conveys the uniqueness of this world. When people see it, I want them to feel its strong presence while also recognizing that it is a world unlike anything they have seen before. Expressing this uniqueness and reinforcing the impression it leaves is, in my view, the role of music and sound." But Sakimoto's music isn't just pushing the gamer's experience, it aims to add a little extra in a way that only his profession is able to: "It's a bit difficult to describe the specific 'feeling' I was aiming for, but I intend to create sounds and music that people have rarely heard before. R.i.O. welcomes Brainwave Research Center, a NYC-based duo consisting of house/techno producer Chase Smith and documentary filmmaker Christa Majoras. In early 2023 they freed their debut album "figure 1" via their own label BRC. Two more albums followed. All documenting their love for experimental yet charming music of all kinds.

Their influences span a vast spectrum, from Steve Reich, Laurie Spiegel, and Edgar Froese to Martin Rev, John Carpenter, early Kraftwerk, or the ambient techno of Pete Namlook's Fax +49-69/45046 label. Yet, Brainwave Research Center forges a sound distinctly their own, seamlessly blending analog synthesis with electro-acoustic experimentation.

On "Psychic Antenna", the duo takes a gentle rawer approach. The tracks range from the manic verbal Die-Tödliche-Doris-like loops of "I Find Myself" to the meditative cosmic trance of "Open Your Mouth." "Orange Drop" and "Transmitter Park" toy with the dancefloor, channeling slow-motion acid trance and krautrock echoes.
The release is rounded out by three remixes: R.i.O.'s own Benedikt Frey delivers a deep, trippy groover full of inner musicality, while close companion DALO crafts a dark, echo-drenched pop rework, and Berlin's Nathan Dawidowicz injects psyched nu-disco rhythms, expanding "Psychic Antenna" into seven notions of intense neural oscillations.

The Lungfish band from Baltimore, Maryland performed and released albums on the Dischord Records label for more than 20 years. The group's consciousness alternately/simultaneously coalesced and dispersed creating a continuous quasi-musical pulse, which reached climax at semi-monthly public performances.

Lungfish is now, as it often has been, quasi, if not entirely, defunct. However, after the release of Feral Hymns in 2005, singer Daniel Higgs (who is also an accomplished visual artist) embarked on a solo career, releasing albums on Northern Liberties, Thrill Jockey, and Holy Mountain and showing his artwork both in the States and the United Kingdom. Asa Osborne is currently recording and performing solo material under the name, The Zomes.

On Katelyn Clark and Mitch Renaud's »Ouroboros,« astronomical and astrological phenomena, concepts and symbols such as the Great Year or the Eternal Return serve as the starting points for sonic explorations and experimentations. Focusing on a uniquely tempered range of frequencies, from low-enddrone rumbles to airy pipe swirls, the duo develops a minimalist and highly evocative sonic universe on their debut album for Hallow Ground.

Working as composers, improvisers and curators in Canada's vibrant experimental and early music scenes, Clark and Renaud began developing »Ouroboros« through extensive improvisation with a reduced setup. Clark, who has worked extensively with historical keyboards since her studies in Amsterdam and Siena, played a small pipe organ modeled after a 14th-century instrument while Renaud brought a modular synthesizer and his interest in feedback systems to the collaboration. Later, the duo further refined their artistic dialog and the sonic interactions of the two instruments through the shared space of a two day recording session in Vancouver. Subtle crackling, acoustic beating and other (psycho-)acoustic effects in five pieces document this encounter, giving the music a profound physicality while hinting at the bodily presence of the two collaborators.

Just as the cyclicality of natural phenomena or the repetition of planetary movements is both a scientific fact and of the cultural imaginary, the sound worlds of »Ouroboros« are fundamentally rooted in time and space while transgressing the idea of a »here and now« through their conceptual links to geological and planetary time. The interplay of portative organ and modular synthesizer, which merge fluidly and in ever-changing ways, leads to a kind of circularity, a timelessness, a no-time. At the same time, the movements and subtle changes undermine the idea of repetition in the negative sense. After all, the Eternal Return, as Gilles Deleuze writes in regard to Nietzsche, is not the return of the same but a repetition of repetition. The only constant is change, the production of new intensities, of new forms of life – and of new frequencies.

Album: eine Sammlung von neun zeitgenössischen Songs ohne Worte, die seinen charakteristischen Cellosound und seinen selbstgebauten modularen Synthesizer zur Geltung bringen. Gregson beschreibt das
Album als „das, was dem, was ich in meinem Kopf höre, am nächsten kommt“. Es ist das selbstbewusste
Selbstporträt eines Komponisten und Interpreten, der sich auf dem Höhepunkt seiner Vorstellungskraft
befindet. Während der Aufnahmesitzungen in Peter Gabriels Real World Studios erreichte Gregson seinen
idealen Klang, indem er sein Cello durch seinen selbstgebauten modularen Synthesizer laufen ließ, der es
ihm ermöglichte, jeden Klang, den das Cello erzeugen kann, einschließlich grober Kratzgeräusche und subsonischer Geräusche, für ausdrucksstarke Zwecke zu nutzen. Das Ergebnis ist eine Sammlung von lyrischen,
atmosphärischen Vignetten, die zusammen die endgültige Darstellung von Peter Gregsons künstlerischem
Schaffen bilden.
