Since the release of RFR 014 Joannes has remained a quality source of solid techno. With this four track EP he proves his sonic versatility.
„Kiss“ sounds like a lucid dream, when you have spent the nights sleeping upon Robert Hood’s „Internal Empire“ for some time. A respectful homage to Detroit’s grandmaster, combining everything what made and makes techno so unique for decades.

The second track remains true to the minimal approach of this EP. Pictures of a humid rainforest, only sparsely lit by daylight, through whose overgrown paths you’re cutting your way with a machete. Certainly not a place for a „Date”, rather a spot for minimal techno in 90s garments.


A touch of tribal, Chicago infused percussions and gentle melodies are all that it takes to elect „Love“ as one of the highlights of this EP. A wonderful start for those often-underrated record flipsides.
Despite its title, „Hate“ might be the most accessible track of this EP. If you are into melodic Detroit techno with dash of…., you may fall in love with this one and hardly get away from it.

A fresh but already affirmed face, Joannes likes his techno solid. With Noordster he gives us a showcase of a certain aesthetic, which on a certain day, for a certain ear, on a certain floor is simply the shit. Spartan in his sparsity, varied in diversity, Joannes knows what he wants. With 3030 he takes us into a Millsian orbit warp, Whisper lands us on Hoth where ice and wind abound. Tripyness is the chugger here, deep and beautiful, like the sea in a storm. Wake goes down the quirky path, with small audio-phonic nuances piercing the air and the riddim holding the groove. And then, out of nowhere comes Ghetto bird, as soft and gentle as the Nightingale and the Rose. Wilde stuff. To top off the package, we go south, to the lands of sun, sea and dance with Housey Yo! Nice tribal atmospherics and smart Four Tet-like melodies. This one has that B-side moment. Let’s make it happen. All in all, a welcome addition to the label, bring on the sounds Johnny boy.

Die britische, in Nashville beheimatete Bluesrockerin Joanne Shaw Taylor stellt nach dem allseits gelobten Vorgänger "Nobody's Fool" aus dem Jahr 2022 erneut mühelos ihr Blues-Rock-Können und ihre sich ständig weiterentwickelnden Fähigkeiten als Singer-Songwriterin unter Beweis. Ihr neuntes Studioalbum "Heavy Soul" unterstreicht Joannes Gitarrenskills und ihre sofort erkennbaren, rauchigen, aber dennoch sinnlichen Vocals in sieben brandneuen Originaltiteln und drei fesselnden Coverversionen von Van Morrison, Joan Armatrading und Joe Simon. Joanne Shaw Taylor bekräftigt mit "Heavy Soul" erneut ihren Ruf als kraftvolle moderne Bluesrock-Musikerin und Ikone ihrer Generation.

Produziert von Joe Bonamassa und Josh Smith in den Ocean Way Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, enthält 'The Blues Album' Joannes persönliche Coverversionen von elf seltenen Blues-Klassikern. Dabei zollt sie Künstlern und Bands Tribut, die nicht zur offensichtlichen Auswahl gehören, wie z.B. Little Village, Little Milton, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, James Ray, covert gleichzeitig aber auch bahnbrechende Blues-Ikonen wie Albert King, Peter Green von Fleetwood Mac und Magic Sam. Einige Songs sind B-Seiten von Singles. War es eine bewusste Entscheidung von Joanne, Songs zu covern, die keine bekannten Blues-Standards sind? 'Wir versuchen, nicht die ausgetretenen Pfade des Blues zu gehen', erklärt Bonamassa. 'Jeder Song muss für sich selbst stehen und gleichzeitig den ursprünglichen Meistern Tribut zollen.'

Orson Wells – If War of the Worlds had a contemporaneous soundtrack, this would be on it. Electro-breaks, tunnel vision, planets colliding. Do not fear us, we come in peace.
