The record is largely sung in Scots language, one of Scotland’s three official languages along with Gaelic and English. “Scots gives me a way of expressing myself which is connected directly with the landscapes I love. It brings the songs alive and it is a fascinating language. The name of the record is in Scots - Forefowk means the people who came before, or ancestors. When we say ‘mind me,’ we can mean a few things- remind, remember, watch over or care for me. The record explores how tradition needs to be constantly reconnected with, built upon, looked after, and shared.”
Quinie sings with a style inspired by Scottish Traveller singers. “I began singing unaccompanied Scots Song in 2015 after hearing Scots Traveller singer Sheila Stewart on the radio. Initially I felt like I shouldn't sing these songs because I'm not a Traveller, and I saw people around me doing that in a way that made me uncomfortable. But on the other hand this music made sense to me and I felt driven to learn. Over the years I have met Traveller friends who taught me that settled people sharing these songs could contribute to raising awareness. Scottish Travellers are marginalised and discriminated against in modern Scotland, despite being custodians of so many of our important traditions. So I started to perform them and tell this story. From there I built on my repertoire and started writing my own songs”.
To develop this record, Quinie travelled across Argyll with her horse. They went on a pilgrimage of sorts through the ancient landscapes of the West of Scotland to explore the interconnected relationships between people, ancestors, animals, and place. The album’s vinyl release is accompanied by a book and film, documenting this unusual research process.
Forefowk, Mind Me was recorded in August 2024 at The Big Shed in Highland Perthshire with support from Creative Scotland. Quinie is accompanied by an ensemble of musicians: Ailbhe Nic Oireachtaigh (viola), Oliver Pitt (duduk, bouzouki, percussion), Harry Górski-Brown (small pipes, violin), and Stevie Jones (double bass, recording, and mixing). Each of these artists brings their own distinctive voice, bridging contemporary experimental practice with worlds of traditional and early music.

Madrid-based ensemble Sinouj fuses the deep-rooted traditions of the Mediterranean with the driving force of contemporary jazz, funk, rock and West African grooves. Their open-door vision draws in musicians from across the spectrum – from flamenco and Iranian classical music to soul and cutting-edge jazz – creating a dynamic, ever-evolving sound that is both global and unmistakably their own.

Their latest release shines a spotlight on 'Hak Dellali', a traditional North African tune that first rose to fame in the 1980s thanks to Tunisian star Hedi Habbouba and later Emirati singer Hussain Al Jassmi. In Sinouj's hands, this classic song becomes a transformative ritual, pulsing with the festive sway of Moroccan chaabi rhythm, Tuareg rock grit and the spontaneous spark of jazz. Over the years, it has consistently ignited the band's concerts into ecstatic celebration.

Backed with a psych-tinged and club-oriented remix by Berlin's Voodoocuts, with 'Hak Dellali' Sinouj continue to blur lines between genres and geographies, offering a fresh take on tradition.

After meeting vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, & physician Eki Shola through her first vinyl release and playing her on the Oonops Drops show on Brooklyn Radio, Oonops asked her to be featured on the Nautilus single "Why I Came to California" alongside Denise M'Baye.

After this incredible release, a new common project was needed: so he asked Japanese beatmaker Shin-Ski as well as soul pianist, soul producer and soul dj SWING-O 45 a.k.a. 45 from Tokyo who is the head behind the 45trio. Both of them chose their favorites songs from Eki's album "還 (Kaeru)" to create their own vibrant reinterpretation.

Besides the limited black edition, there will be a hand-numbered edition of 50 on golden 7"-vinyl via Oonops Drops.

DUVEL & GIT HYPER - De Rode Draad

Duvel is een pionier binnen de Nederlandse Rap-scene. Met z'n herkenbare stijl en vooruitstrevende visie heeft hij menig artiest geinspireerd en is zijn naam in steen gehouwen. Dit geldt eveneens voor DJ en producer Git Hyper, wiens naam sinds de 'golden era' van de Rap niet is weggeweest. De samenwerking van Duvel & Git Hyper vormt dan ook een nieuwe HipHop mijlpaal. De solide productie ligt in handen van Duvel en Git Hyper en vormt de fundatie voor de scherpe teksten van Duvel, ondersteund door klinkende namen als $keer&Boo$, Faberyayo, Nosa en Maximilli. Pain Management welcomes London cult favourite DJ ojo, who arrives on the label with a hazy three tracker of trademark nether zone system music. On his most dubbed out full length to date, ojo span’s the full emotive spectrum of dub sonics with a range of both the eerie and more tender expansions of low end atmospherics, the resulting 12” equally suited for the club and the journey home alike.

‘Tongue Tied’ opens the record, a lysergic offering from the darker edges of dub music. A slippery fugue-state hit of narco-ambience built around a crooning, intelligible vocal refrain and chest shot sub weight. A real nightfall system pusher built to simmer in the early hours. It kicks off the EP on an amorphous, hypnotic note that sustains throughout.‘Oil Dub’ sinks deeper into the fog, melodic kinesis and expansive delays upholding an underworld of feedbacked percussion and tongue in cheek sub motion; a seven minute sound bath of ambiguous dub ASMR.

The B-side balances out the darker strains found on its counterpart with an overtly tender digidub closer. Clocking in at almost ten minutes long ‘Cloud Suck’ is a nebulous bliss of perpetually ascending late-summer warmth. The kind of liminal dream-state embrace that you wish would never end. True to the name, it evokes tender, dusk and dawn hued moments, a quiet ride-home flash of introspection on the way to or from some pursuit of meaning. Pain Management essential right here.

The name may be brand-new, but you’ve heard the Estonian producer’s celebrated talents across countless labels, soundsystems and DJ sets under the 15-year-strong moniker Bisweed. Now ready to metamorphose into the next phase of his artistic journey, Adel Force brings you the Twirl EP on Albion Gold.

Dropping the needle onto each Albion Collective release reveals a labyrinth of unique, experimental dubstep styles lauded for both their success in DJ sets and original sonic visions. Holding these pillars of pioneering creativity close to its heart, the new branch of Albion Collective intensifies its focus on moving people. Monster, the manga created by Naoki Urasawa, is an acclaimed psychological thriller that has been a huge critical and commercial success. Monster has won several awards and is regarded as one of Urasawa's major works, affirming her place as a master of suspense in the world of manga.

Kuniaki Haishima is a Japanese composer best known for creating the soundtrack to the anime Monster. In addition to his contribution to Monster, Haishima has also composed music for TV series (Terra Formars and S-CRY-ed) and films (Tokyo Tribe and Helter Skelter).

The Bug Club sind wieder da, für ihren jährlichen Termin auf dem Markt der Garagen-Rock-Macher, wo sie eine weitere reinrassige Platte anpreisen. LP-Nummer vier, "Very Human Features", erscheint kurz nach der ersten Sub Pop-Veröffentlichung der Band, "On the Intricate Inner Workings of the System" von 2024. Dieses Album - eine neue Ladung typisch verspielter, riffgeladener, intelligenter Bug Club-Songs - gibt der Band einen Vorwand, ihre nicht enden wollende Tournee fortzusetzen und ihre schreienden Fans zu füttern, die dank der unermüdlichen Veröffentlichungswelle dieser Band überschwänglich und erwartungsvoll sind. Auf "Very Human Features" haben The Bug Club ihre Gewohnheit fortgesetzt, sich als ein kollektiver Geist zu präsentieren. Zwei in Einem. Das Dream-Pop-Duo Sorry Girls aus Montreal kehrt mit seinem dritten Album "Dreamwalker" zurück, das über Arbutus Records erscheint. Ihre exzentrische Mischung aus nostalgischen 70er-Jahre-Powerballaden und 80er-Jahre-Kitsch durchbricht neue Schwellen, zerlegt vergebliche Illusionen, um der Kälte zu trotzen und zu fragen, was vor uns liegt. Seit ihrer Gründung im Jahr 2015 haben Heather Foster Kirkpatrick und Dylan Konrad Obront ihre eigene Marke von üppigem, vergnügungssüchtigem Synth-Pop geschaffen. Dank ihrem Talent, persönliche Texte mit einem schrägen Sound zu verbinden, ist ihre durch David Lynch geprägte Welt frei und unheimlich. Alles scheint vertraut, eine Melodie plätschert durch eine alte Traumlandschaft, und doch ist etwas nicht in Ordnung. Da die Zeit knapp bemessen war, wollten sie mehr mit den Livemusikern zusammenarbeiten und schnelle und entschiedene künstlerische Entscheidungen treffen, um der Musik so treu wie möglich zu bleiben. Luritja artist Keanu Nelson traces the afterglow of Wilurarrakutu with a two-track 7”, cut from the same home-studio haze with producer Yuta Matsumura. The pair continue their singular weave of community-rooted storytelling and elemental electronics, shaped with the gear at hand.

Hints of YouTube hip-hop and emotionally charged piano ripple through ‘Place Where I Go’, a dubbed-out reflection on the daily realities of life in Papunya, Nelson’s desert home. ‘Kapi Ngalyananni’ finds Nelson singing in language, a mesmeric water song bridging the personal and ancestral, with elevating chords, clapsticks, and Matsumura’s parched melodica lines.

Theo Mindell's voice bears some resemblance to Blackie Lawless' and while W.A.S.P. isn't the first band that comes to mind when thinking of doom metal and stoner rock, his voice fits the music perfectly. The production is spot-on, guiding the listener's thoughts to the sound of Master Of Reality while still sounding modern.
