Hiyo is a coming out party in a lot of ways for a band that has been a staple of the American Folk Music scene for over two decades. Co-Produced and engineered by Nashville's Rachael Moore and including performances by Jamie Dick (Drums), John Mailander (fiddle) and Maya de Vitry (vocals), the album Hiyo pushes the sound of CCL past anywhere it has been before. For a band that spent 15 years performing around a single microphone, CCL has found new inspiration in all of the sounds the world has to offer. "Synthesizers, drum machines, banjo...the world is really open right now to what constitutes folk music and we are grabbing on to that inspiration with both hands and not letting go," says leader Dave Wilson. Element, co-founder of Riddim Chango imprint, introduces his latest creation, a 4 track EP, under the freshly forged subsidiary label, Parallel Line.

The EP opens with the abstract dancehall mic-man in Kingston I Jahbar, reprising his collaboration with Element from their 2021” Andromeda EP on Bokeh Versions, narrating rhythmic tales of style and ambitious hustle. The records transitions to the intense dubwise cut to the A1,“Chicken Gravy Dub”, and the B-side unfolds“Nine Mall”and“Martian Gravity,”instrumentals resonating with obscure yet atmospheric dancehall/dembow echoes.

The EP embodies a fusion of eclectic influences, resonating with reflecting the innovative and unique soundscapes of Element and his Parallel Line imprint.

Bouncy-Aspekte auf Tracks wie "Yenta" oder dem "Diazepam" (der bereits fast 3 Millionen Streams auf Spotify erreicht hat) sorgen unvermeidbar für Headbang Momentum. Einflüsse von Trap-Musik und andere Einflüsse kulminieren in einem hochmodernen Sound, der gleichzeitig die besten Trademarks des 2010er Deathcores einbaut. Ähnlich bedrückend wie Korns „Selftitled“ Album oder Slipknots „Iowa“ präsentieren ten56. ihren beängstigenden Sound in Tracks wie "Boy" oder "Traumadoll", während stampfende Grooves, knallende Riffs und aggressive Drums kombiniert mit Rap-Elementen "Saiko" zu einem weiteren Brecher werden lassen, der (im guten Sinne) fast schon unangenehm klingt.
Kurze Blast-Beat-Passagen sorgen für noch mehr Härte, als ob "Downer" nicht schon heavy genug wäre. Als Bonus gibt es mit "Choky" einen exklusiven Track auf dem Album, der mit Downtempo-Grooves einmal mehr ten56.s faszinierenden Nu-Metal-beeinflussten Deathcore-Sound aufblitzen lässt. ten56. verstehen sich als moderne Interpretation der frühen Emmure, kombiniert mit Nu-Metal der goldenen Ära, eingängigen Grooves und einer zerstörerischen Soundwand, wie man sie von Humanity's Last Breath kennt - das Ergebnis ist mit Sicherheit deine neue Lieblings-Deathcore-Band!

Novo Line – aka Berlin's algorave maestro Nat Fowler – delivers a noisy, ultramarine voyage into the depths of his archaic hardware. Clawing at the periphery between leftfield electronics and avant-garde pop, Zeit is an entirely new sonic universe, eerily familiar yet utterly uncharted. A visionary synthesist, Fowler is renowned for his productions that make use of mainly '80s equipment including vintage digital synths, discarded MIDI Hi-Tech, tape delay and even an ancient Atari ST computer. But, despite the aged technology, the result is far from nostalgic.

'Ain't That a Mess' slams in with Monica Kremidi's crooning à la Little Annie Anxiety with reeving car engines and guitar-rock static fed through a pan effect. Multilayered melodies soar on 'Stein', the pounding drums matched by gliding strings, crafting that holy grail of cavernous, booming textures and uplifting euphoria that mark out the most transcendent of rave tracks. The deceptively gentle opening bars of 'Morning Star' are interrupted by a viscously squelching bassline, Cass McCombs' vocals dancing deliciously with the raw beat.

Rejecting contemporary tech-fetishism, Novo Line has a near-supernatural ability to exorcise novel sequences, weaving together a record that speaks to the ghost in the machine.

GRAMMY Nominated R&B singer & songwriter Eric Bellinger kicked off 2023 much like he kicked off 2021, with a hit album.
