Aus der Asche von DAWN OF DISEASE ist eine Melodic Death Metal Band entstiegen, die bereit ist, alles unter Feuer zu setzen: HIRAES. Alle vier
Instrumentalisten von DOD (Lukas Kerk, Oliver Kirchner, Christian Wösten und Mathias Blässe) haben ihre Kräfte gemeinsam mit Sängerin Britta Görtz
(CRITICAL MESS, ex-CRIPPER) gebündelt, um Musik zu erschaffen, die zwischen hymnenhaften Melodien und packenden Gitarrenriffs pendelt:
atemberaubende Hooklines kombiniert mit gnadenlosem Drumming sowie einem allgegenwärtigen melancholischen Spirit und variantenreichen und
eingängigen Growls

Mit “The Art of Sampling” legte der österreichische DJ und Produzent Parov Stelar 2013 ein Album vor, das mit einer ersten Werkschau seines Schaffens der vergangenen zehn Jahre vergleichbar ist. Wir sprechen hier allerdings keinesfalls von einem klassischen Best Of, denn der gebürtige Linzer ließ es sich damals nicht nehmen, auch mit neuem Material ein Zeugnis seines unermüdlichen Schaffensdrangs abzulegen.

Alle 14 Songs hatten dabei eine Sache gemein, angedeutet im Albumtitel: Sie vereinen die Praxis des Samplings in Parov Stelars Arbeit – will heißen: Das gefühlvolle Zusammenfügen ausgewählter Elemente zu neuen Kompositionen. Besonders erwähnenswert hierbei war unter anderem die enge Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Künstlern und deren Werken, wie bei der ersten Single-Auskopplung “Keep On Dancing” feat. Marvin Gaye. Gearbeitet wurde hier mit Tonspuren aus Marvin Gayes funkigem Disco Nummer−1-Hit “Got To Give It Up” aus dem Jahr 1977.

Neben diesem Hit warteten auf “The Art Of Sampling” außerdem Feature-Gäste wie Anduze, Y’akoto, Lukas Graham, Odette Di Maio und Lilja Bloom. Anlässlich des 10-jährigen Jubiläums dieses besonderen Albums, erscheint “The Art Of Sampling” für alle Vinyl-Liebhaber nun als limitierte 2LP Sonder-Edition in wunderschönem blauen Design

Die Symphonic Metal-Piraten VISIONS OF ATLANTIS begeben sich erneut auf hohe See! Nachdem sie sich auf ihrem letzten Studioalbum Pirates so selbstbewusst wie nie zuvor präsentiert hatten und damit die Top 20 der deutschen Albumcharts erreicht haben, folgte im Frühjahr ihr fulminantes drittes LiveAlbum Pirates Over Wacken sowie ausgiebige Tourneen durch die USA und Europa. Aber nun gönnt sich das internationale Quintett keine Pause, sondern veröffentlicht am 1.

Dezember 2023 eine exklusive rein orchestrale Version ihres Erfolgalbums Pirates, das unter dem Titel A Pirate’s Symphony über Napalm Records erscheinen wird. Die Band lädt die Zuhörer ein, mit ihnen auf eine Reise durch faszinierende Klanglandschaften zu gehen, aber dieses Mal ohne Gesang, ohne Schlagzeug und sogar ohne Gitarren.

Das Quintett lässt die symphonische Schönheit der Musik für sich selbst sprechen und präsentiert damit erneut eine andere Seite der Band, die stark an Filmmusik erinnert. Die exzellenten Orchestrierungen wurden sorgfältig von Lukas Knoebel erstellt und können nun ganz für sich selbst stehen.

David Caspars kommende EP "Echo In The Fields" dreht sich um das Vergehen der Zeit als Lebensbegleiter und die Dualität ihrer Natur. Endlich wie ein Nachhall von Klängen, wird die Zeit sowohl die Guten als auch die Schlechten mit dem Geschenk der wahren Bedeutung einholen. Die EP erscheint als Clear Col. 10" inklusive CD!

Angeles featuring Greg Rolie (Santana), Steve Lukather (Toto), Hamish Stuart (Average
White Band), Colin Hay (Men at Work) and Ringo, performing all the classic hits these artists
and bands have made famous such as “Black Magic Woman” (Santana), “Rosanna” (Toto),
“Pick Up The Pieces” (Average White Band), “Who Can It Be Now?” (Men At Work) and of
course “Yellow Submarine”, “Photograph”, “It Don’t Come Easy” and many more from the
man himself, Ringo Starr!

On For Annette, singer-songwriter ronja summons forth a certain unbridgeable void within our existence and the acceptance of the deafening silence that comes with it. Weaving the strands of her previous release something about us with multiple openings towards more abstract territory, this 5-track EP marks her debut under the forward-thinking Unguarded label, astutely situating her music well beyond the confines of the genre.

The opening track “Nothing Makes Me Feel” beckons the listener into a discreet moment amid the early light of dawn, commencing with an up-close acoustic guitar, soon to be graced by ronja’s hushed voice, softly whispering, as if to avoid waking someone near. “Just Once”, with its weeping waltz, is about losing one’s place in the world, about choosing the imaginary over the real. Behind the strummed chords hides a soft dither of sine tones that attempts to fill the gap that cannot be filled, only to transform into quavering distortion ever after. Where language may falter, ronja turns to choral-like instrumental pieces (“Light” & “Grass from Below”), characterized by her distinctive and multi-layered flute arrangements. The absence of words here allows for a sensible stage of introspection, a fleeting and diaphanous pause, forging a passage to a more hopeful outlook. Yet, these pieces are not isolated; hints of fluttering air and cavernous depths are subtly alluded to in the earlier, more song-based tracks. In just under 18 minutes running time, the theme of loss, or the anticipation of its arrival, lingers solemnly before transcending intermediate states in “Almost There”.

Admirers of the dreamgaze band Roomer, which made waves in and around the Berlin music scene this past year, might detect faint resemblances. Nonetheless, ronja—a pivotal presence in said band—unveils a distinct effort here, striking subdued but enticing tones, a foreshadowing of what is yet to come from this luminary artist. – Luka Aron

SHADOWSPAWN sind zurück mit ihrer mit Spannung erwarteten vierten Veröffentlichung "Blasphemica - Absolution Carved From Flesh". Das neue Album der Dänen demonstriert das Wachstum und die Entwicklung der Band, während sie ihren charakteristischen schnörkellosen Death-Metal-Sound beibehalten. Blasphemica" geht jedoch noch einen Schritt weiter und verschiebt die Grenzen ihrer Musikalität, indem es Elemente des Grooves, der Dunkelheit und der Brutalität in ein zusammenhängendes Ganzes einbaut. Das Album zeigt die Reife der Band als Songwriter und ihre Fähigkeit, komplizierte, aber dennoch headbangertaugliche Kompositionen zu schaffen.

Mit zehn groovigen Death-Metal-Tracks, die in einer abstrakten lyrischen Welt aus Steampunk und Religionskritik angesiedelt sind, besuchte die Band Tue Madsen in den renommierten Antfarm Studios, um die Drums aufzunehmen und später zu mischen und zu mastern, um den bestmöglichen Sound für ihr neues Werk zu gewährleisten. Dies wird auch das erste Album von Shadowspawn mit ihrem neuen Schlagzeuger Lukas Meier sein, bekannt von The Petulant und Sacrificial.Shadowspawn, die für ihre einzigartige Mischung aus groovigen und intensiven Klanglandschaften bekannt sind, wurden 2013 von erfahrenen Männern aus der frühen dänischen Death-Metal Szene gegründet, darunter bekannte Kräfte von u.a. Sacrificial, The Petulant und Cinerator.

Mit ihrem unverwechselbaren Ansatz für das Genre haben sie sich einen Weg in der extremen Musikszene gebahnt. Nach drei hochgelobten Veröffentlichungen sind Shadowspawn in der dänischen Metalszene und auch im Ausland ein bekannter Act.

Joris Feiertag is a Dutch producer and drummer from Utrecht in the Netherlands who makes music that is a finely balanced blend of organic and synthesized elements, often using ingenious syncopated rhythms combined with instruments such as the harp and kalimba. In 2009 he started recording a new studio album in Melbourne, Australia which was finalised with producer Robert Ahrling in Malmö, Sweden. The album named “Living My Own Life” was released in August 2011. Between 2012 and 2013 Dino was hired to take part in an international project in South Africa named “Synkropation” where he was featured in several songs and played to an audience of 50.000 people in Johannesburg and also participated in two rock operas. In 2015, American drummer John Macaluso (Ark) invited him as singer and the keyboardist for his new American-Croatian band Stone Leaders. During this time, Dino was also a member of Croatian metal band The Ralph with whom he released the album “Enter Escape” in February 2017. In February 2016 he was noticed by American rock band Trans-Siberian Orchestra. After auditioning and meeting with producer Paul O’Neill and Dino was chosen to join the group. 2018 his band Animal Drive released debut album, “Bite!”, to critical acclaim. April 2019, they released a covers EP titled “Back to the Roots”. Dino was also featured singer on two songs on Magnus Karlsson “Free Fall” album. 2020 Dino Joined ex-Krokus members and Mandy Mayer (Gotthard, Asia, Unisonic…) for a concert project named Gotus and they released a video for the song “Souls Alive” (Unisonic). July 2021 Michael Romeo, guitar master from NY insisted that Dino should sing on his new album “War of the Worlds part 2” and it became a great and successful collaboration. 2022 Dino toured Europe with Whitesnake. As the last part of the EU tour was cancelled due to some DC health issues, Dino joined The Dead Daisies tour replacing Glenn Hughes who got unwell at the end of November 2022.A 2 year long legal battle with Dino’s ex-label was over and he immediately started recording new songs for his band JELUSICK…Welcome back Dino!

Volume 2 of False Vacuum is now with us and still has riches to choose from.

These 13 rare and hard to find tracks (3 of which make their vinyl debut) all deliver in different ways as he systematically reinvents each one.

Beginning with his raw and now classic remix of Ultradyne's 'Clones', the hard-edged dance-floor friendly 'Woman's Scent' by Cisco Ferreira (The Advent), the more laidback and futuristic sounding 'Bohrium 274' by Jauzas the Shining and Victoria Lukas, the slow and mysterious and first time on vinyl 'Somehow' by Rough Days For Diamond Trade, reinventing the darkest of dance-floors on 'Rytumtraks 0002' by Albert van Abbe, the moody masterpiece and first time on vinyl 'Now We Continue' by White Car, Duplex's 'Autoslug' sounding like its been rearranged inside a black-hole, a balancing act between the light and darkness on Fasenuova 'Cachito Turulo', an insistent rise and falling workout for As One's 'Where Did He Go and Why', a tightly wound and almost meditative 'The Truth' by The Exaltics, an angular stomping march of the robots 'Longwang' by 6D22, a jumpy fidgety groove for first time on vinyl 'Forty Eight Hours' by Yan Wagner and perhaps one of his most sublime pieces is kept for last with 'So Long For A Small Storm' by Dollska.

Eight years on from the release of his compelling debut album ‘Sun, Cloud’, Luke Howard has now established himself as one of the most important and exciting musicians in contemporary classical music. The composer has been at the forefront of opening up piano music to a new generation, while challenging the notion of what can be achieved in the form. New album ‘All Of Us’ is not only an exquisite portrait of isolation, loss, resistance and reconciliation in both stark and rich shades of piano, orchestra and electronics, but the theme of quarantine provides a framework for the record. Throughout the album, Howard shifts between subtle permutations of shifting sound, etched with his trademark intimacy and restraint, and applied with a palate both minimalist and expansive; to his own piano, celeste and synthesiser, the Budapest Art Orchestra (conducted by Peter Pejtsik) plays strings, guests added flugelhorn, viola, contrabass and modular synth whilst fellow post-classicist Ben Lukas Boysen provides additional programming, production and mixing on ‘Critical Spirit’ and ‘The Opening Of The Gates’.

Rebellion ist aktuell in aller Munde, aber DYMNA LOTVA haben dafür gewichtige persönliche Gründe: Das Duo musste aus seinem Heimatland Belarus aufgrund politischer Verfolgung fliehen. Die Kunst der Metal-Band wird von der Lukaschenka-Diktatur aktuell zensiert und unterdrückt. Doch auch auf ihrem dritten Album, "The Land under the Black Wings: Blood" singen DYMNA LOTVA weiterhin von Trauer und Schmerz. Dabei haben die Belarussen hörbar ihren markanten Stil dynamisch weiterentwickelt. Über einem soliden Black Metal Fundament, das auch Bausteine aus dem Doom und traditioneller Musik enthält, baut das Duo mit Hilfe von melancholischen, eindringlichen Melodien emotionalere und gewaltigere musikalische Strukturen auf. Die Texte von DYMNA LOTVA basieren auf wahren Geschichten aus ihrer Heimat. Diese stammen aus Berichten voller Leid, die das Duo in historischen Archiven und in der Folklore findet - während in ihrem Land an jedem Tag neue Schreckenstaten hinzukommen. Komponist und Multiinstrumentalist Jauhien Charkasau sowie Sängerin Katsiaryna "Nokt Aeon" Mankevich datieren die Gründung von DYMNA LOTVA präzise auf den 8. November 2015. Am diesen Tag entzündete die Nachricht, dass die belarussische Schriftstellerin Swetlana Alexandrowna Alexijewitsch den Literaturnobelpreis erhalten hat, das musikalische Feuer der Band. Noch am gleichen Tag schuf das Duo seinen ersten Song, der von der Nuklearkatastrophe von Tschernobyl inspiriert wurde. Dieser erschien im Jahr 2016 als Single unter dem Titel ("A Solitary Human Voice"). DYMNA LOTVAs erstes Album "The Land under the Black Wings: Swamp" kam noch im gleichen Jahr heraus. Das Debüt stellt auch den ersten Teil einer konzeptionellen Trilogie über Belarus dar. Mit dem Nachfolger, "Wormwood" der nicht zur geplanten Album-Trilogie zählt, kehren DYMNA LOTVA im Jahr 2017 zum Thema Tschernobyl zurück. Nach den gefälschten Wahlen im Jahr 2020 unterstützte DYMNA LOTVA offen die Proteste gegen den Diktator Lukaschenka. Nach einem politisch motivierten Prozess gegen den Metal-Sänger Lesley Knife, der auch als Gast auf der Single 'To Freedom' zu hören ist, werden alle geplanten Konzerte von DYMNA LOTVA offiziell verboten und die Live-Besetzung der Band ist zur Auflösung gezwungen. Sängerin Nokt Aeon kann ihrer politisch motivierten Verhaftung nur durch Flucht außer Landes entgehen. Das Duo will sich in der Ukraine treffen, als der russische Überfall den Plan zunichte macht. Nach zwei Wochen schweren Bombardements durch Russland und harten Kämpfen um Irpin gelingt Nokt Aeon die Flucht aus der Stadt. Beide Musiker finden schließlich Aufnahme in Polen. Für DYMNA LOTVA ist die Veröffentlichung von "The Land under the Black Wings: Blood" daher auch ein Akt des Widerstands. Experimental hip-hop/jazz quartet Bokoya team up with Colognebased producer / guitarist Gianni Brezzo (Jakarta Records) for collabo album on Melting Pot Music. Bokoya describe themselves as a four-headed human drum machine that play improvised beat music.

You can call it jazz if you like (all four members are graduated jazz musicians btw) but be ready to stumble over some Dilla, kraut rock, ambient or dub in the mix. We recommed their their doublealbum “Hausensession” (MPM, 2022) as a reference point.

Gianni Brezzo's music is a bit easier to access but not less leftfield. Jazz is a major influence too but it goes way further. On his album “Tutto Grosso” (Jakarta, 2022) Brezzo rides a sonic wave similar to Matthew Halsall, Surprise Chef, El Michels Affair and BadBadNotGood.
The recording sessions for “Minari” took place at the Gottesweg Studios in Cologne where Bokoya and Gianni Brezzo jammed for three days and nights based on some basic sketches and beats. The sessions were edited and arranged after by Bokoya and Brezzo but no overdubs added.
