Following the release of their new album Marble Skies this January, Django Django will release a new EP focused on the single track 'Surface To Air', a track which features for the first time in the band's a guest as the sole vocalist: Self Esteem, aka Rebecca Taylor from the UK duo Slow Club. Filtering a Jamaican dancehall influence through a widescreen of dreamy psychedelic pop, the track is accompanied on this EP by its instrumental version as well as three remixes from Canadian producer Lunice, Glasgow based DJ Nightwave and the multi-instrumentalist producer Body In The Thames.

Hua Li has often worked the fruitful tension between opposing forces, whether being mixed-race, bisexual, or overtly political and softly vulnerable. Now the “half-Chinese, half-militant, half-rapper of your heart” is back with "ripe fruit falls but not in your mouth", her most ambitious and personal record to date. Playing between hazy R&B, hip-hop, jazz and electronic, Hua Li’s sophomore LP takes the imaginary garden as a proxy for cultivating home. With complex vocal arrangements, lush production by Alex Thibault (aka Gloze), and big, vibrant mixing by TNGHT’s Lunice, ripe fruit is a private confessional on a loud-ass record.

Following 2019’s Dynasty and 2020’s critically acclaimed Yellow Crane EP, "ripe fruit" is characteristically libertine. Textured and sensual, the Montreal multi-hyphenate balances her rich, waveforming tone with danceable, electronic signatures. The rapper is fierce and frequently funny, erupting from gauzy runs to deliver a quick uppercut that stings. With hooky, addictive features by Ambrose Getz and Darkus Millon, ripe fruit is an intimate record of healing, with Montreal’s nightlife at its heart. An artful collaborator, Hua Li co-wrote and performed on Gayance's 2023 Polaris short-listed album, Masquerade, and is the touring DJ for Inuk electro-pop throat singer, Riit.

Her charismatic stage show has taken her around the world, including tours with Cadence Weapon and Fat Tony (serving as the former’s touring DJ), to Reykjavik’s Secret Solstice Festival, the Montreal International Jazz Festival, and Pride Toronto. Luminous and compelling, Hua Li shows it takes tenderness to let things ripen, and guts to let things die. In-between is a kind of rapture that begs to be savoured.

Sechs Jahre nach seinem Debütalbum "Butter", in denen der fleissige Produzent u.a. mit seinem Projekt TNGHT (zusammen mit Partner Lunice) vorführte, wie man EDM und HipHop zu einem neuen modernen Clubsound vermengt, bietet sein Zweitling "Lantern" alles, was wir uns gewünscht, aber niemals erwartet hätten. "Lantern" ist ein Fusion-Album, das alles kristallisiert, woran Hudson bislang gearbeitet hat, ein Entwurf seines Masterplans. Eine moderne Fusion von avantgardistischem Ansatz und urbaner Pop-Sensibilität, intensiv und dynamisch orchestriert. Ein zeitloser, in die Zukunft blickender, neuer Massstab für Pop und Soul Musik. Herausragende Beispiele dafür sind die potentiellen Singletracks "Very First Breath" mit dem französischen R&B-Sänger Irfane, der chorale Hurricane namens "Warriors" mit dem kalifornischen Mysterium Ruckazoid an seiner Seite, sowie die elegische Symphonie "Indian Steps" mit Antony Hegarty on vocals.

Producer duo Hudson Mohawke and Lunice stare at the moon for too long, get abducted and return just in time to deliver their second EP ‘II’. Following the release of the mysterious ‘Serpent’, a lunar chart that was decrypted by fans in minutes and a dangerous Radio 1 Essential Mix, TNGHT’s crescent moon is appearing once again from behind heavy clouds. It has been seven years since Hudson Mohawke (Ross Birchard) and Lunice’s (Lunice Fermin Pierre II) prodigious debut which accidentally changed the sound of the pop music caught in its wake. The pair of bedroom-producers-cum-superproducers hail from Glasgow and Montreal and have aligned once again on a record which aims to chew up and spit out every influence across a single 12”.

On ‘Ways Of Seeing’ Konx-om-Pax has switched up the mood and hit gold. He has made an album that is filled with joy and sunshine, saturated with the classic feel of Berlin Techno.

Tom Scholefield has moved on from the dark ambient and brittle rave of the first two Konx-om-Pax albums, which were a reflection of his hometown Glasgow's electronic music scenes. After a recent move to Berlin, the textures of Glasgow's musical strains have fused into an accessible and friendly mix of poppy melodic electronica built from a stricter 'less is more' sound pallete, closer in spirit to the music of his adopted city. It is also a record which was made in opposition to recent music he has been hearing, in particular the troubled, dark and noisy experimental music coming out of Berlin. Tom wanted to focus on more joyful qualities, making this a record imbued with warmth and happiness, a panacea to the darkness and disorientation all around in 2019.

Having a social scene full of producers has also influenced the album. The opening track 'LA Melody' came from staying with Ross Birchard (Hudson Mohawke) at his house in LA, hanging out in the glorious sunshine with him and Lunice working on tracks.
"Initially Ross asked me to write some melodies to use in a project he was producing, but I ended up liking it so much I decided to keep the riff. I generally write music alone, but being around other producers gave me a certain excited energy that reminded me of after-parties back in Glasgow where Ross and myself spent our youth together. Spending time in Clark's studio also helped me improve my workflow and sequencing the album by seeing the way he does things". On 'Säule Acid' he collaborates with Silvia Kastel and in 'I’m For Real' the vocals of Glaswegian DJ/producer Nightwave filter around the track.

Hudson Mohawke steps things up a gear with this hyped and ridiculously anticipated collaboration with fellow beats alchemist, Lunice - both representing their respective corners, Warp and LuckyMe. Their live shows and snippets of their tracks that have been found online have fuelled the excitement around this release
