Das Electro / Synthwave - Trio LSSNS aus Leipzig und Helsinki nimmt nach der 'Tempest EP' und tollen Collabs u.a. mit Adam Port oder Magdalena endlich den Faden wieder auf. Im Oktober erscheint das erste Full-Lenght-Album 'Transit'.

'Transit' erzählt in 10 düster-flimmernden Synthiepop-Songs vom Ausharren im Ungewissen, von Brüchen, von Reisen ohne Ziel. Aber auch von der Schönheit, die sich irgendwo in der Dunkelheit finden lässt.

Als sich The Damned 1989 erstmalig trennten, gründete Leadsänger David Vanian die Phantom Chords. Ihre erste Single, ein Cover der John Leyton-Nummer 'Johnny Remember Me' erschien 1990 und ihre Version von 'Town Without Pity' folgte 1992. Erst 1995 wurde schließlich von Big Beat ein Phantom Chords-Album veröffentlicht, das gekonnt die Genres Rockabilly und Gothic Rock miteinander verschmolz. Zu den Tracks gehörten u.a. mit 'Voodoo Doll', 'Big Town', 'Fever In My Blood', 'Jezebel', 'Chase The Wild Wind' und 'Swamp Thing' eine Mischung aus Covern und Originalmaterial, die aufgrund zu geringer Verkaufserwartung der LP eine reine CD-Veröffentlichung war. Jetzt, fast drei Jahrzehnte später, wird dieser Fehler korrigiert und 'David Vanian And The Phantom Chords' endlich auf Vinyl als 2LP-Set (Black Vinyl) veröffentlicht - natürlich auf Ace Records!

Ein paar Monate nach digitalem Release schieben wir 300 streng limitierte, kristallklare Vinyl vom softboy ivo und b&dbbb (aka Young Meyerlack) Album "Kids Auf Nix" nach. Irgendwo zwischen 80er Pop und Untergrund Lofi Rap bewegt sich diese Kollaboration zweier alter Freunde, die zeitgleich quasi das Debüt Album von softboy ivo darstellt, der unter diesem Namen seit Dezember '22 agiert. Das Artwork stammt von Johnny Basse. Von diesem Album wird es keine weitere Vinyl-Auflage geben!

Nach Veröffentlichung von drei Alben innerhalb von drei Jahren und einer anschließenden vierjährigen Pause sind Tomb Mold auf ihrem vierten Album "The Enduring Spirit" wiedergeboren worden, ein durch und durch unverfrorener Schritt in neue Gefilde. Doch bei all dem frenetischen Wagemut und kühner Erkundung ist "The Enduring Spirit" nie etwas anderes als unverkennbar TOMB MOLD!

Während neue Strukturen die TOMB MOLD Architektur um neue Einflüsse bereits auf dem im letzten Jahr selbst veröffentlichten Tape "Aperture of Body" erweiterten, insbesondere beim letzten Stück "Prestige of Rebirth", treten sie bei "The Enduring Spirit" deutlich in den Vordergrund. Die Zeit, in der Derrick Vella mit Dream Unending im Doom-Genre erschuf und ausbaute, ist zweifellos in Tomb Mold eingeflossen- ganz zu schweigen von Payson Power und Max Klebanoffs Erkundungen in ihrem eigenen Projekt, Daydream Plus.

Mit dem Album-Opener "The Perfect Memory (Phantasm of Aura)" kommt das kantige, Dimensionen verschiebende Riffing der Band sofort zum Vorschein, während der Track durch verschiedene Stufen des progressiven Death Metal und einige der bisher extremsten Stücke der Band wandert. "Will Of Whispers" beginnt mit einer jazzartigen Fantasiesequenz, bevor es in ein blendendes weißes Lichtfeuer, geschmackvolle Gitarrenleads und zurück in ein verträumtes Serpentinenmuster kippt, das in seiner fast 7-minütigen Laufzeit ganze Universen umspannt.

Die hintere Hälfte des Albums setzt die Reise in das fort, was innerhalb der Death Metal-Normen möglich ist, und erreicht den Höhepunkt mit dem über 11-minütigen Albumschlussstück "The Enduring Spirit Of Calamity", einer jenseitigen Reise in einen Strudel, in dem alle Dinge in Raum und Zeit zusammenlaufen und den Baum des Lebens durch eine leuchtende himmlische Komposition bildlich greifbar machen.

Nach vier Jahren Pause war es für eine Band mit grenzenloser kreativer Energie, wie Tomb Mold es sind, eine Selbstverständlichkeit, den Umfang ihrer Vision zu erweitern - auf "The Enduring Spirit" haben sie ein Album mit einer cineastischen Umgebung geschaffen, die unbegrenzte Möglichkeiten der Erforschung bietet, sowohl für sie selbst als auch für den Hörer.

Die legendäre Band "In Strict Confidence" läutet das gruseligste Datum des Jahres mit einem musikalischen Meisterwerk ein! Am Freitag dem 13. Oktober, veröffentlichen sie eine ganz besondere Kollektion, die ihre größten Hits in einem völlig neuen Licht erstrahlen lässt. Das Besondere daran? Alle Songs wurden komplett neu in einem faszinierenden orchestralen Filmmusik-Soundtrack aufgenommen. Klar erkennbar und doch in einer monumentalen Sinfonie neu erschaffen. No Future, No Past – Svart Records set to release a compilation of the lost treasures of Finnish speed and thrash metal in October The roots of speeding thrash metal stretch out to the early and mid 80’s. It did not take long for the waves arising from the shores of California, central Europe and the United Kingdom hit Finland hard as well. The guiding light of Finnish thrash metal from that era was Stone from Kerava, but the entire scene that was bubbling beneath the surface was surprisingly vivid for such a small country. As the old saying goes, in the late 80’s there was not a single town in Finland without a speed metal band. These dozens – or hundreds, to be more precise – of vivacious bands formed by the long-haired youth didn’t just stay in the basements of their parents’ houses. Soon the youth centres of every county and open-minded venues such as the legendary Lepakko in Helsinki would arrange wild speed and thrash metal gigs. Studios run by more experienced musicians such as Timo Tolkki from Stratovarius were fully booked by hungry young bands eager to record their future metal classics. Many bands released 7” singles and demo tapes by themselves or with support from a record company, yet most of them permanently stayed at the demo stage through the golden era of the eighties. Svart Records is set to release a compilation of the absolute top tunes culled from these sought-after, long-lost demo tapes and singles on vinyl and CD in October. No Future, No Past – Finnish Speed & Thrash Metal Explosion combines the strongest, rarest, and most obscure Finnish metal tracks from the years 1986-1992. Backgrounds of the bands presented on the compilation differ a lot from one another. Vendetta and Damage were born from the ashes of the members’ previous hardcore and punk bands. A.R.G. and Catalepsy got their feet in the door fast of record companies such as Poko Records and Megamania, while other metal acts from that time simply faded away. After a few decades passed, some bands saw it fit to restart their careers, Sacred Crucifix and The Hirvi being examples of such comeback artists. No Future, No Past – Finnish Speed & Thrash Metal Explosion 1986–1992 will be released on October 13th on a limited 2LP vinyl edition and CD version. The compilation is packed with 18 remastered tracks of pure Finnish metal mayhem and accompanied by a booklet that contains band histories, photos, and song details. The compilation’s predecessor Real Delusions: Finnish Speed & Thrash Metal Explosion 1987-1991 was released in 2018 and its limited vinyl edition was sold out in a heartbeat, so get this rare gem now before it’s too late!

Nachdem VARG mit ihrem letzten und bis dato erfolgreichsten Album Zeichen (2020, Platz #16 der Deutschen Albumcharts) den thematischen sowie musikalischen Fokus komplett auf ihre Pagan Wurzeln gelegt haben, gehen die Wölfe diesen Pfad mit ihrem neuesten Werk unbeirrt weiter und manifestieren ihre Reinkarnation eindrucksvoll.

Ehrlich, authentisch und roh – das neue Album Ewige Wacht erscheint am 13.10.2023 via Napalm Records. The 8 songs on 'Interiors' synthesise all of the band's past work while pushing forward into the future. It's Jared Artaud and Brian MacFadyen's darkest and most visionary work yet. Ethereal metallic synths and blistering electronics are driven by disco-on-downers dance beats lashed with gutter-rock guitar riffs and icy detached vocals with evocatively concise and lacerating lyrics. Recorded over many sleepless nights and amphetamine-fueled mornings in the project's isolated Brooklyn bunker home studios, the album follows the band's minimal is maximal aesthetic coalescing into dark bedroom anthems for loners and lovers with nods to 70s/80s punk and nightclub music ala Joy Division, Iggy Pop's The Idiot, Depeche Mode, and New Order. On the lead single "Amnesia," Jared Artaud says "It's about dealing with duality and integrating the conflicting feelings within a relationship. It's about feeling dissociative and getting burned by the fire. Then coping with how this inevitably leads to the dissolution of the relationship. This is a mantra for all the songs on the album.

Ein Jahr nach Veröffentlichung des letzten GOAT-Albums "Oh Death" kündigen die maskierten Schwed*innen nun den Nachfolger "Medicine" an, der am 13. Oktober auf Rocket Recordings erscheint. In der ersten Single "Unemployment Office" ergänzen sie ihren Psych-Rock um Elemente aus dem 70s-Progressive. Nicht nur die neue Single, sondern auch das gesamte Album hat eine durchgängig zurückhaltendere, warme Ausstrahlung, und die Band deutet an, dass das übergreifende Thema des Albums die Vergänglichkeit im Leben ist - in all seinen verschiedenen Facetten: "It's about the impermanence of life in different ways: sickness, relationships,love, death and how our time is finite." Es ist schwer zu sagen, wie oft die Mythologie und das Geheimnis von GOATs Hintergrundgeschichte neugeschrieben werden kann, aber das neue Album macht Schluss, nur in der Vergangenheit zu schwelgen, und präsentiert einem etwas sanfteren Psych-Folk-Sound, der immer noch Goat ist. So "unnahbar" auch ihre Gerschichte klingt, so mysterös beschreib die Band auch ihre Musik: "We often talk about how all music is world music and all other genres are old fashioned. All you can hear is the universal similarity between all music. The music from some old cult in northern Sweden can be the same as the music from wherever." Der Sound des neuen Albums ist die klangliche Manifestation aus nigerianischen Afrobeat, deutschen Krautrocks, Funk und düsteren, halluzinatorischen Rock. Passend zum Titel "Medicine" muss dieses Medikament also sehr stark sein. Unabhängig von Dosierung und Art der "Medicine" - es ist Zeit sie jetzt einzunehmen.
