Black Vinyl

The new record of TERRITOIRE presents the story of the slave Alix from his birth as a submissive being until the encounter with his first owners. Produced with techno veteran Oscar Mulero, it spits out 7 tracks made of flesh, heat and metal, that press and shake the limits between a sensorial electronica and industrial techno.

Project from the french producer and composer Olivier Arson, TERRITOIRE has published three different records with each other: Mandorle (2012), for which they played at Sónar Barcelona, Mandorle - Versions (2014), with remixes from artists like Aidan Baker and Father Murphy, and Confess (2016), an experiment from a sound installation based on the confession ritual.

In constant motion and without a stable form, TERRITOIRE opens news tensions between electronic processes, experimental instrumentation and narrative fragments. It sculpts an experimental techno that expands across oppressive and cathartic rhythms, folds into physical drones, and explodes with mutant screams. An existential drift towards a broken horizon that hides his beauty and discovers, at last, on this latent limit, a disturbing and unknown light.

Soundwalk Collective - What We Leave Behind THE JEAN-LUC GODARD ARCHIVES

Audio-visual artists Soundwalk Collective were granted exclusive access to the personal archive of the groundbreaking filmmaker and present their ambitious New Album and Remix EP: What We Leave Behind released on 18th & 25th May 2018.

The NYC and Berlin based group were invited to aurally explore the archive of the seminal French director Jean-Luc Godard and release their interpretations in an innovative new album What We Leave Behind. Drawing on Godard's personal collection of shot film, reel- to-reels and historical ephemera, the recordings reveal the moments before and after the camera rolls, from stage directions and on-set asides to rehearsals, false stars and outtakes.

'There are boxes filled with sounds, words, chaos, and also silence. For Godard sound is a musical composition and when I began listening to the tapes and heard his voice between takes, it was like little bits of life...each sound has its own value. It has always been part of our working practice to venture into untapped sonic territories, discover the poetics behind them, and explore how we (as humans) relate to it, it is part of a larger discourse.' - Stephan Crasneancki, Soundwalk Collective

Revealing much insight to the director's process and personality, the 6-track album will be followed by a remix EP, featuring unique reworks from Ricardo Villalobos, Jan Jelinek and Petre Inspirescu.

What We Leave Behind, and the subsequent remix EP, arrive 50 years to the day that the the Cannes Film Festival, 1968, was closed after Jean-Luc Godard, Francois Truffaut and Claude Lelouche, publicly announced their closing of the festival in solidarity with workers and students protesting across the country.

The LP features a conversation between Stephan Crasneanscki, of Soundwalk Collective, and Franc¸ois Musy, Jean-Luc Godard's sound engineer, printed on a translucent paper insert. The LP and Remix EP both contain imagery taken by Stephan Crasneanscki of the archives, which he has also filmed to create a series of mesmeric short music videos of original and remix tracks.

An international genre-bending group of artist-musicians with studios in New York City and Berlin, the three members of Soundwalk Collective (Stephan Crasneanscki, Simone Merli, and Kamran Sadeghi) formed in Manhattan to produce concept albums, sound installations, and live performances, and have worked with a diverse range of collaborators, from Nan Goldin and Patti Smith to Berghain and Zaha Hadid.

Various - Mechatronica White 1

Mechatronica launches their new White series, dedicated to limited edition white label records across synth, wave, EBM and italo with a VA release featuring Inhalt, Violet Poison, Sneaker and Daniel Holt.

Mechatronica White 1 opens with Sneaker's gloomy remix of German synth-pop band Opus Leopard, followed by the electrifying instrumental version of 'Alles' - a relentlessly progressing piece of body music from San Francisco trio, Inhalt. On the flip, Violet Poison summons a fat, trippy EBM-leaning groove, before Daniel Holt finishes off the record with anthemic synths and a ticket to the cosmos on 'Floating Mansions'.

When two icons of electronic music team up for a collaborative project, the result is destined to become something extraordinary. New album Beginn' is a deft fusion of the talents of Claudia Brücken - famously the lead vocalist of revered German avant-pop 80s group Propaganda - and Jerome Froese - who, as son of electronic music pioneer and Tangerine Dream founder Edgar Froese, was himself a driving force and member of Tangerine Dream during one of their most successful and creative phases. 'Beginn' is a hybrid maelstrom of electronic sounds and sonic dreamscapes. It demonstrates the influence of both Froese's and Brücken's acclaimed output to date: Froese's solo work and the Tangerine Dream albums he partook in and Brücken's long and varied career as an icon of electronic pop in Propaganda, Act, OneTwo and as a distinguished solo artist. Suzanne Freytag, Brücken's co-vocalist in Propaganda, also collaborates on the song 'Sweet Sense (of) Liberation', the album's lead single. 'Beginn' - a work of electronic art that evokes a compelling and fascinating aesthetic at the same time as having mesmerisingly catchy pop moments. The special foldout digipak CD packaging and booklet has been designed by Philip Marshall (ZTT, 808 State, Frankie Goes To Hollywood) with the input of Claudia, Jerome and Paul Morley.

Rose Kallal - Perseus

repress

* New York based artist and musician Rose Kallal presents her debut album 'Perseus'. Taking its title from the Greek mythological constellation the collection of 6 extended recordings create a hypnotic and evolving flow of sound layered with rhythmic tones and primordial texture.

* Developed in her Brooklyn studio using a modular system and effects each track further takes its title from an individual star of mythological origin, with the material invoking an expansive and collapsing sense of space and time and channelling ancestral readings of the celestial. Perseus continues alongside Kallal's ongoing practice with 16mm film and sound employing hypnotic repeating patterns and motifs and creating a merger of both antiquated and modern technologies.

Various - Extra Noir Vol.1

Extra Noir is a coldwave, minimal synth and post-punk soundtrack based in South Korea. This is the first of a series of compilations, featuring artists from the hosts' three most recent homes - Scotland, Korea and Texas. Available on digital and limited release vinyl. About the artists:
Aadm Our Hatley is a Texas-based multi-instrumentalist who has played in a long list of underground Austin acts, such as Red X Red M, Attack Formation, Those Peabodys and Bangaar. He currently plays guitar in Chamberlain Greene and drums in Boss Eye. Straddling the dank border between industrial and no wave, Glasgow duo Total Leatherette also brings pervy disco fetish to their sleazy brand of mutant music.
Kübler-Ross is one of the many aliases of Glasgow electronic producer / remixer Dave Clark. A versatile and prolific producer, Clark has worked with JD Twitch of Optimo as one half of the Optimo (Espacio) remix team, played guitar in Badalamentian blues band Big Ned, and has been recently recording synth-based solo tracks as Kübler-Ross.
Comprised of techno producer Seonggu de Kim and minimal ambient artist Eajik, Airy Textile is a synth duo originally based in Seoul, South Korea. Their contribution to Extra Noir Vol. 1 marks their first release on vinyl. Tengger are an electronic psychedelic duo from Seoul, South Korea, comprised of Itta (harmonium and vocals) and Marqido (modular synth).
Texan synth wizard Xander Harris is one of the most influential artists in the 'horror disco' genre, and has consistently delivered tense, garish and unflinching journeys into the darkest domains of dance music. This track, 'The Velvet Hand', is exclusive to Extra Noir Vol. 1. Pecht is the nom de plume of a Manchester-based solo artist who retreated to the wilds of northern Scotland after years in the London entertainment industry. His self-titled debut album was recorded during his exile on the north coast. 'unlock' is Pecht's first release on vinyl. Cucina Povera is the musical identity of Maria Rossi, a Glasgow musician and vocalist originally from Finland. She is a collaborator in Luxos with Daniel Magee of Lo Kindre, and a former DJ on Glasgow's Subcity Radio. Her debut LP, Hilja, was released in January 2018.

Glyn Bigga Bush - Sunken Foal Stories

Glyn Bigga Bush has been producing electronic and sample-based music since the early 90s when he formed Rockers Hi Fi, going on to release numerous albums. Since the turn of the century he has produced and DJ'd as BiggaBush as well as various side projects such as Lightning Head (Sonar Kollektiv), the Dandelion Set (Buried Treasure) and the Magic Drum Orchestral (Tru Thoughts).

Bigga's latest project 'Sunken Foal Stories' represents a departure from much of his other work in that it is not primarily based on beats. Instead, his working method was to go with fascinating samples, accidental juxtapositions and irregular loops - inspired by pioneers of sound such as Faust and the audio experiments of Julian House as well as early stereo test records, soundtracks and library music.

The 21 concise tracks of Sunken Foal Stories link into two 15 minute segments on the LP. Bush explores the random elements created by overlaying disparate samples, where chimes of baroque psychedelia clash with ascending classical strings, or a haunting Eastern European folk song is looped into an eternal cadence of longing. Various voices float over the speakers, lost poets, disturbing therapists, dreaming vampires, chuckling cabaret singers. Sourced almost entirely from charity shops and carboot sales, the source material speaks of a forgotten yet relatively recent period, when stereo was something new and exciting, when home entertainment first came into its own and suburban homes thrilled to the exotic sounds of home organs, primitive beatboxes, LPs bought in unusual holiday destinations and 'glamorous' soundtracks.

Boomkat Editions

Repress

The fourth Boomkat Edition is also our 2nd loan from Opal Tapes (after the 1991 LP), giving a much needed vinyl issue to that knockout 'Untitled' cassette from Huerco S. Blending the sort of smudge-house tropes found on NWAQ's 'The Dead Bears' or Actress's 'Hazyville' with a sidelong piece of lushest new age kosmische, it made a strong impression on our playlists and just begged to be pressed on a (slightly) more democratic format. The likes of 'Press On (Ruff Rub)', with its suggestive moans and coos laced to warm, doped-up bass flesh and cracked Vangelis synth strokes, makes for a proper scene setter at the start or end of a night, and the tense sensuality of 'Elma (Ruff Rub)' is deep house at its most spectral, abstract, mixing elegant melodic pirouettes with coarse drums and druggy sub heft, spiking the dance with subtly sleazy intent. Drifting from the 'floor, the exquisite, BoC-like boogie massage of 'Hiromis Theme' acts as a sort of waiting room or new age interzone for the standout flipside which gives the EP its name; 20 minutes of blissfully evocative synth float starring his buddy Exael and hitting right between the eyes of early Emeralds, the lushest library records and Rachel Evans at her sanguine best.

BABA COMMANDANT & THE MANDIGO BAND - Wasso

Following the release of Baba Commandant's debut album "Juguya" in 2014 on the mighty Sublime Frequencies label, Mawimbi is proud to present Wasso, one of the best cut from the
album in brand new mixing shape alongsides killer electronic remixes from the likes of Mawimbi signee Loya and Mr. Boom.
A rather eccentric and mysterious character from the Ouagadougou underground scene, Baba Commandant started out as a traditional Bobo dancer, before engaging in a rich musical career and joining Burkinabé star Victor Démé as one of his touring musicians. Influenced by the likes of Fela Kuti, King Sunny Adé and Moussa Doumbia, Baba Commandant plays dozo n'goni, an instrument associated with traditional Donso hunters, bridging the gaps between different generations and strata of Burkinabé society. Recorded at the notorious Ouaga Jungle Studios, "Wasso" is a prime example of the band's unpolished and raw sounds, merging Mandinka blues, dub and Nigerian afrobeat with a punk feel. The A-side also features a remix by Mawimbi signee Loya, whose leftfield reinterpretation moves at
a much higher pace with epic modular synth motifs and subtle organic layers of sounds. The B-side of the record is made of two DJ-friendly remixes with impressive mixing work from Toulouse-based producer Mr. Boom. Stripping the original track down to its most lively elements, both mixes are perfect club-ready weapons for tropical-minded and house DJs alike.

Hugo Manuel is better known by his musical alias Chad Valley. A product of Oxford's prolific
creative community, Chad Valley has amassed a catalogue that spans four studio releases,
numerous collaborations and dozens of remixes. His 2010 debut — a self-titled exploration
in swirling synths and sunburnt melodies — laid the groundwork for 2011's Equatorial
Ultravox, which gave his downtempo productions a decidedly more pop-leaning twist. It
was with Equatorial Ultravox, and his 2013 album Young Hunger, that Chad Valley's profile
sprung forward, strengthened by a string of key touring slots supporting the likes of
Erasure, CHVRCHES, Active Child and Passion Pit, and by his collaborations with El Perro Del
Mar, Glasser, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and Twin Shadow. After releasing 2015's
sparkling Entirely New Blue and continued touring extensively, as he now prepares to
release his third full-length album in 2018. Imaginary Music includes the previously released
singles Up Again' and LA in August,' both of which bolster one of the strongest batches of

Idle Hands
04.06.2018

Following two previous excursions into degraded tape loops, fuzzed-out ambience and bittersweet moments of tenderness, O$VMV$M return to Idle Hands to complete a trilogy of LPs with 12 vignettes from the underbelly of the Bristol scene.

Bound to Young Echo's ever-swelling cult of wayward sonics, individually Amos 'Jabu' Childs and Sam 'Neek' Barrett have plenty of irons in the fire. Childs deals in forlorn, vocal-led introspection alongside Alex Rendall and Jasmine Butt as Jabu, while Barrett can be found laying down punishing modern grime variations alongside Kahn, or delving into more traditional soundsystem sonics in Gorgon Sound. Meanwhile the pair were clearly heard laying down some of the tones that seep out of the uncredited Young Echo collective LP from earlier this year. Their production work behind Rider Shafique's killerLion7" on Lavalava was unmissable, and their blunted beats behind Manonmars' debut LP are awaited with anticipation.

As O$VMV$M, the pair enter a particular sound world that mixes cosy nostalgia with creeping dread. Even at its most mellow, a sense of unease hovers beneath the surface, and that's what makes their approach so compelling. The sound palette is broad, from pitch-shifted RnB vocal licks to foggy trumpets crawling at half speed, but over it all a dense blanket of dust gives the sensation of peering back through time.

Putting paid to the idea that immersive music needs to be long and drawn out, the dose response on these condensed mood capsules is quick and strong. In a little over 20 minutes O$VMV$M take you far and wide. The trip over the past three LPs has been an adventure for both label and artists - Sam and Amos have shaped out a style that now feels like a fully formed entity independent of their other ventures. We look forward to seeing where O$VMV$M heads from here.

Various - Selectors Assemble, Vol. 3

We proceed with 'Selectors Assemble Volume Three'. The latest release from the CoOp Presents label headed by IG Culture and Alex Phountzi, and the latest instalment of EPs featuring an array of artists, focusing on the wealth of talent that exists within the London Bruk scene and beyond, a continuation of the sonic spirit brought to life by the legendary West London movement.

Selectors Assemble is an ever-growing family - this six-track selection seeks to introduce more of the collective to the masses, and bring further heat from some of the squad already established. Call it what you will genre-wise, this EP sweeps styles, and shamelessly laces up another assortment of certified dancefloor fire. The previous two volumes were supported by a wide-ranging squad of DJs in recent times, including Toddla T, Mr. Scruff, Benji B, Josey Rebelle, Alex Nut, Shy One, Marc Mac, Lefto, Kev Beadle, Nick Luscombe, Simbad, ThrisTian, Stuart Patterson, Bradley Zero & Mr Thing, to name a few.

'Volume Three' kicks off with the deeply prolific German trio, Soul Parlor, who've been releasing a ton of music & remixes, and DJing worldwide for two decades now, here providing 'One 4 U' - bleeps, bassline and beats, with some twisted sonics and reversed pads along for the ride. Next up, label bosses IG & Phountzi (aka NameBrandSound) revisit a classic from Quango and the amazing talent of Eska on the vocal, giving this one a deliciously fresh lick for 2018 - 'Rock It Tonight' has all the ingredients to be a Summer anthem. James Rudie returns for Volume Three with 'BoxD', on a soulful 4/4 vibe once again, this one adding a little bruk swing and some smoothed out funk atop. Next we introduce Xtra Bruk to the crew - a mastering engineer by day, he's been releasing d'n'b and house records since the late 90's - here with something called 'Samba', more now-skool broken styles, with some serious bassweight in a wobbly UKG-esque style. Gonzi steps up and in from South London with 'Bawss', a seriously innovative cut that flits and chops between 4/4 and bruk, with a space-funk synth that encompasses a tinge of deep Detroit, a pinch of Kaytranada / Soulection style sonics, and a slight brush of jazz into the mix. Finally the one Entek returns to close out the selection with 'Brukway', which pretty much does what it says on the tin - straight up heads down synthed-out boogie business.

Selectors Assemble appear on rotation monthly on Worldwide FM, as well as playing numerous other shows and dances individually, and building momentum on their new base, The Flex, a multi purpose warehouse space in East London. The Summer's looking set to be a hot one for CoOp Presents, this is just another taste...

Circles
- Floating in 'weightless' space between Lee Gamble, Logos,
Actress and Alva Noto
- Vinyl master + cut by Matt Colton at Alchemy.
- Cover photo by Yusuke Yamatani. Design + layout by Our Place

Chevel gives the prism-pushers at Mumdance & Logos' Different Circles their first album release with Always Yours, a slanted new take on the 'weightless' paradigm, floating somewhere between headspaces associated with the styles of Lee Gamble, Actress and Logos.
Paradoxically the longest and yet most minimalistic release on Different Circles to date, Always Yours says its piece in succinct yet expansive terms, rendering precisely tooled rhythms and technoid motifs in acres of suspenseful emulated space in a way that connects the brutally efficient dynamic of late '90s tech-step with a Raster Noton-like appreciation of pointillist reduction.
In that imagined space Chevel moves like a Soviet gymnast or Prototype robot fluidly executing a demanding routine full of intricate, rigid steps. From the ambient airlock of One Evening In July he pulls off the aerobic mid-air rolige of The Call, which comes off like a syncopated Sleeparchive workout, before twysting into the knotted quasi-step of Bullet and stepping into hyperspace on Arp 2600.
Another ambient interlude Warming Bath returns the LP to balmier states, before the jagged pulse of Data Recovery pulls back into the dance like a virulent Alva Noto piece, and Dem Drums pitch to the rave's darker side, but ultimately the lushly self-explanatory
Underwater and Always Yours keep the LP hovering around the edge of ecstasy and the abyss with a grasp of heady, day-after feelings known to ravers the world over

Coàgul is Marc O'Callaghan -synths, voices and bells- playing Suicide's shamanic trance via Esplendor Geometrico's industrial sound or Einstürzende Neubauten playing electronic psychedelic noise with PIL circa Flowers of Romance', only with more drony, epic, anthemic and minimalistic processions, sometimes played at a roman slave ship pace.

At the same time his music feels medieval -even rural- with lyrics formed by esoteric dark poetry in Catalan, chanting and proclaiming things like Be the light that burns the world' or Riding with Death, there's blood in the mud, will is annulled, useless organs, the army of victims holds up the pyramid!' or I want you to eat my intestines so I can be virgin for you once more, I want you to eat my balls to be the scorpion that sticks it deep into you'.

With an aesthetic halfway between black metal and David Tibet, his themes are plagued with ancient Mediterranean symbolism, references to tarot, surrealism and old secrets, and through all this he still manages to sound punk. And still all comparisons miss the point.

La Roda de la Justicia is his first LP and his later works have been released by other labels such as The Nekofutschata Musick Cabaret, Burka for Everybody, Ozonokids, Dead Moon Records between others.

Hypocrisy Is the Greatest Luxury is the debut album by the industrial hip hop formation The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy. Years after its release it was recognized as one of most underrated albums from 1992. Michael Franti created a piece where capitalism, consumerism and political changes weren't avoided. The issues he raps about are focused on the changing world and the way people interacts with each other. The emotional power and anger are part of the musical changes. On the album you'll find an stunning revision of the Beatnigs' Television, the Drug of the Nation' and the political insanity of The Winter of the Long Hot Summer'. Lyrically and musically it is still vital today, even when the jazz poetry comes alive.

In their short existence of only three year the duo Michael Franti and Rono Tse made of The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy a successful band in the underground scene.

As Comisarios de la Luz DJ he has performed more than 200 sessions in the last three years.

His live shows are a visceral and energetic deal, a hands-on approach to electronic music with an unseen control of rythmic feedback, dynamics and noise.

His latest 12 Un Paso en el Vacío' has been co-released by Màgia Roja and Opal Tapes the 28th of June 2017.

Mary Lattimore - Hundreds of Days

"It was the most beautiful summer of my life."

Memories — places, vacancies, allusions — are fundamental characters in Mary Lattimore's evocative craft. Inside her music, wordless narratives, indenite travelogues, and braided events skew into something enchantingly new. The Los Angeles-based harpist recorded her breakout 2016 album, At The Dam, during stops along a road trip across America, letting the serene landscapes of Joshua Tree and Marfa, Texas color her compositions. In 2017, she presented Collected Pieces, a tape compiling sounds from her past life in Philadelphia: odes to the east coast, burning motels, and beach town convenience stores. In 2018, from a restorative station — a redwood barn, nestled in the hills above San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge — emanates Hundreds of Days, her second full-length LP with Ghostly International. The record sojourns between silences and speech, between microcosmic daily scenes and macrocosmic universal understandings, between being alien in promising new places and feeling torn from old native havens. It's an expansive new chapter in Lattimore's story, and an expression of mystied gratitude. A study in how ordinary components helix together to create an extraordinary world.

Awarded a residency at the Headlands Center for the Arts, Lattimore spent two summer months living with 15 fellow artists — writers, playwrights, musicians, poets, painters, activists, curators — in a cluster of old Victorian military buildings on the Northern Pacic Coast. Days offered solitude, Lattimore set up in a spacious barn, able to arrange her instruments at will. Nights welcomed new perspectives. "Hanging out with a lot of accomplished artists with poetic ways of looking at the world was really inspiring. My heart was in a bit of a tangle after leaving Philadelphia. I was holding onto things instead of moving forward. My time there was a nostalgia detox, a way to press reset in a healthy way. Also breathing in the freshest air in America, straight off of the ocean, felt good."

Throughout the shifting locales there is one consistent companion Lattimore engages: a 47-string Lyon and Healy harp. The instrument wires directly into her psyche. Pitchfork's Marc Masters posits, "she can practically talk through it at this point, she's created a language." The space and stillness of the Headlands afforded Lattimore freedom to her expand her vocabulary, to stretch out and experiment with layers of keyboard, guitar, theremin, and grand piano. Lattimore's voice sweeps beneath the plucks and washes of opener It Feels Like Floating,' enraptured by the winding current, and reappearing in the second minute of the immense "Never Saw Him Again." The track elevates towards a shimmering apex of static and percussion before organ drone yields to signature halcyon utters. As with much of Lattimore's work, the track titles are telling, "Baltic Birch" is a somber windswept march that sways gracefully out of step, a remembrance of a recent trip to Latvia where she was struck by the abandoned resort towns along the Baltic Sea. Hello From The Edge of The Earth' is an earnest reection of Lattimore's love of the natural world, recognizing the thresholds of varying terrains.

The album's fth track borrows its name from Lattimore's favorite line in Denis Johnson's short story Emergency' from Jesus' Son. A character, lost in a blizzard, reassesses a disjointed universe, a clash between curtains of snow and angels descending out of a brilliant blue summer: it isn't an apocalypse, it is a drive-in movie, with stars hovering above the lot, off the screen, in the throes of the Midwestern storm. This mix-up is disorienting and existentially tragic, Lattimore's darkly strummed piece is a melancholic parallel, mimicking Johnson's elegant suture attaching two remarkably discontinuous spaces.

Micro-revelations, not quite as bright as torn skies but nonetheless enlightening, were everyday occurrences during Lattimore's residency. Living small days with small tasks — feeling little dramas within the arcadian universe of a national park — rendered her the sense that disjointed spaces can be interconnected no matter the enormity that divides them. It's in this elastic scale of perception that something as simultaneously simple and intricate as Hundreds of Days can ourish.

- Second solo album for Ghostly, past releases on Thrill Jockey
- Recently toured w/ Sharon Van Etten, Jarvis Cocker, Kurt Vile, Steve Gunn, Julia Holter, Iceage
- Mary Lattimore has been featured on Pitchfork, NPR, The Wire Magazine, and more

Vito Ricci - I Was Crossing A Bridge LP 2x12"

On the leading edge of NYC's underground music scene, Vito Ricci produced only a handful of self--released cassettes and one LP between 1983--1985 with most of his work being recorded for experimental theatre and performance art pieces.
Taking their label name from Vito Ricci's only LP, Music From Memory brings together a compilation of works by one of the unsung heroes of New York's downtown music scene.

Starting out as a percussionist, Ricci's early musical journey led him to improvised and experimental jazz; working alongside such luminary musicians as Rashied Ali, Byard Lancaster, Peter Zummo and Yousef Yancey.

Quickly becoming involved in the avant--garde scene with spoken word performances, film scores for independent movies and even playing in punk bands with performances at venues such as CBGB's and Mudd Club, Vito's own compositions drew on all of these influences whilst channeling them through his experiments with synthesizers and drum computers.

Drawing comparisons with New York's downtown No--wave scene Vito's compositions blend his unique use of intricate percussion with a wide sphere of musical influences to create a world of hypnotising ambient, meditative minimal--synth through to dubbed out electronic funk and even left--field boogie. With most of Vito Ricci's music remaining previously unreleased, Music From Memory's compilation 'I Was Crossing A Bridge' unveils Vito Ricci's unique and visionary take on electronic music

FFRANCIS - Off The Grid

The vinyl version of album was released in 300 copies only (it contains album CD and mp3/wave download code). Vinyl record is a transparent-yellow splatter.

FFRANCIS is a musical project between the successful songstress Misia Furtak and well-established electronic producer Hatti Vatti.

"FFRANCIS is like a completely autonomous person. Like a child of yours on one hand, like a close friend on the other." says Misia Furtak, who with Piotr Kalinski (aka Hatti Vatti) recorded "Off The Grid". An album with 13 premiere songs, where distorted guitars collide with drum machines. "The album is a collection of strange songs." - Piotr describes their collective work. "It's really hard to assign it to a specific genre which is probably its unique advantage - you won't get bored, because the next song will surely surprise you with a twist you didn't expect."

"It's a chronicle of our collective work fluctuating from cool to lava eruptions. It's neither my record, nor Misia's separately - I hear the four of our hands in it, so to say, I hear the spirit of this band. On top of everything else the work was also demanding, because we did almost everything on
our own. We recorded big parts of the album at our homes and where we lived changed multiple times during the process. We recorded at our friend's apartment in the old town in Warsaw, which we turned into a recording studio. I recorded some ancient analog bit machines at a repair workshop of Maciek Polak of Analogia.pl and Pin Park, and a 200 years old organ at a rehearsal space in Reykjavík. My Icelandic friend's grandfather used to play them at their church, which brings us to Iceland and nicely closes the topic of volcanoes." - Piotr Kalinski describes the recording process.

The 43 minutes spent with FFRANCIS bring something new each time you listen to the album. There are surprises hidden within the tracks in example the already mentioned 200-year-old organ from Reykjavík and a Casio toy keyboard recorded though a mobile phone, just to name a few.
These surprising details make "Off The Grid" even more special. A debiut record, which comes more than 2 years after the first joint recording of Misia and Piotr - a 7' single released worldwide on U Know Me Records (Got Me Started / Would You Like Me To Continue (UKM 039)).

"Looking at FFRANCIS you see the band moments, you see yourself and the passing of time and you also realize, that regardless of whatever plan you had this exceptionally autonomous individual without asking a single question created a very own presence. It is a part of you in one way and it's next to you and you recognize the connection and the resemblance but you also notice so many distinctively peculiar characteristics that you can't help to wonder there they came from. It's a very curious experience." - Misia Furtak sums up.

"Off The Grid" comes out on vinyl (with a CD enclosed), a very limited compact disc (a 100 numbered digipack copies with a special booklet) and via the digital streaming and download platforms. Michal Kupicz is responsible for the final sound (mix and mastering), and the graphic designers (and photographers!) behind the artwork are the befriended COALS, themselves.

Marta De Pascalis / Howlround - Her Core / Hard Core

The shadowy forces behind The Tapeworm are delighted to announce the latest release to come flying out of The Wormhole. On a limited edition split LP two of Europe's foremost exponents of the tape loop go head-to-head, recorded within the hallowed environs of a former Buddhist Monastery - with dramatically un-Zen results.

On one side, Italian composer Marta De Pascalis mixes loops and analogue synthesis to create densely layered collages of glowing melodic shards and growling bass distortion, her hypnotic minimal synth figures warping and whirling around each other before dissolving into entropic oblivion. 'Her Core' is a rusty, sand-blasted slab of heaviness that provides the perfect continuation from her two solo albums - a hall of mirrors collapsing in on itself, over and over.

Meanwhile, Howlround is in full contraction mode on 'Hard Core', heading directly into the murky innards of a quartet of vintage reel to reel machines and using live tape delay to create syncopated rhythmic pulses, crackles and squelches that founder member Robin The Fog describes as 'accidental gabber'. Originally rising to notoriety through sonic portraits of entire buildings, here Howlround dramatically scale down the subject matter to concentrate on mapping out the endless psychedelic dimensions of a circuit board, discovering a whole new world of creative potential in the process.

Both sets were recorded live at London venue Iklectik during the fall of 2017 at "A Can of Worms", an event to celebrate The Tapeworm's 100th release. What's perhaps most remarkable about this LP is that it captures a pair of artists in a snapshot, in parallel. Here, Howlround shakes off the back catalogue, stepping out of the comforting confines of the studio. De Pascalis plays harder than ever before. Both artists taken by a moment, into the harsh glare of the unknown. The fact that each has created their noisiest and most abrasive work yet will surely be seen as a happy coincidence. A can of worms, indeed...

Jesus Is My Son - Innocence/Insouciance

With his solo project Jesus Is My Son, Gregory Duby, a guitarist from the belgian Black Country, explores since 2005 another side of his expanded tastes in music. After years in noise-rock bands (The Invisible Frog, K-branding) both bands being under influence of metal and industrial music, Jesus Is My Son is  clearly on the classical guitar side of things. Except you can never forget and always feel the intensity of Duby's heavier practice in the soft and peaceful 'Innocence', sometimes in its almost threatening tension, sometimes in its profoundly melancholic relief. On the b-side, 'Insouciance' has an oriental feel to it, a lighter face: recklessness after a crash or smiling distraction before a tempest.

Tropical Hifi - Oceania

Emotional Response starts 2017 with a mini-album of ambient-equatorial enlightenment by Australia's mysterious Tropical Hi-Fi. The final record from an artist appearing on the label's first SchleiBen series, this also points to the future.
Based somewhere in the far flung Northern Territories, the music of Hi-Fi's pre-incarnation Electric Egypt was first discovered via the note-worthy airwaves of L.A's outstanding Dublab radio station. As the wonderfully diverse internet shows and project's dense, hip-hop inspired collages came to fruition with 2012's Exotica release, a dual awareness and sporadic contact was maintained whenever a signal could be established with Hi-Fi base camp. As the SchleiBen series was formed, the studio-DJ-cut-up-mix of Oceanic Mythology was warmly received as an inspired counterpoint to the dense offering from Don't DJ.
These first real solo recordings from the Hi-Fi crew - whoever he/she/they maybe - moves on from the cut'n'paste of Electric Egypt to seek a meditative vision. Ambient, drone and field recordings are all part of a drifting tropical flavour that encompasses the listener. Music truly inspired by it's surroundings, this is not some music journal, flying in to sample a life and it's sounds, but the real, living entity and it can be heard deep across the 8 short pieces. None is more typified than Tahiti Blue, where fellow traveler Mike Cooper layers his ubiquitous steel blues over simple, lilting drums. Mixed by Leaving Record's Matthewdavid (with whom more to come on the label in 2017), photography by Native Finger and the ever-present encouragement of friend and neighbour, Ariel Kalma, this is conceptual album to lay back, drift off on undulating swells and simply, let go to.
