From the bowels of an abandoned textiles factory in Brunswick, beneath a sign that advertises a long-defunct karate school, comes the second fully kicking release from HopeStreet Recordings,

'Busted' b/w 'Set Me Free', by The PutBacks, available as a 7' 45 and in digital format. Once you'll hear this 45 you will radiate a 'super nice vibe'.

Hope Street's Bobzilla and Tristan Ludowyk teamed up with the inimitable powerhouse rhythm combination The PutBacks bringing to you:

A-Busted

'I'm so Busted. I'm Busted' (repeat) .. and then you say.. 'Me, Oh, My!' (repeat)

It's so simple. You can interpret this bubblin' funky gem anyway you funkin' please. It's got a catchy hook, a hard swinging groove, one of the baddest breakdowns you'll hear in 2010 and then you get to sing-a-long, chant-style like an army of footballers. Funky footballers..

B-Set Me Free

The PutBacks re-work the classic track from Ray Davies and The Kinks, 'Set Me Free'. Re- work..' It's a re-invention. The bass and drums drive this baby coast-to-coast, the organ and horns offer spurts of steam, releasing the heat as Tom Martin's guitar simmers away that big chunk of melted butter. Now that's a tasty ride.

All aboard!!

The original that spawned a thousand cover versions but Tiny still can't be beat-..

The Regrooved series is still doing what it does well, 4 huge and varied tracks from all over the world. The Captian aka Fab Samperi from Italy displays his skills with an uptempo bossa style version of a classic funk track. Slynk teams up with fellow Australian Tom Drummond to create a smooth breakbeat club track, Tom better known for his house production which you can hear coming through in the track. Slynk also has a big solo track on this vinyl, his 80's styles are shining through in a big way here. Lastly Stickybuds from Canada brings his fat bass and solid beats, this track is a must have for all funky DJ's that like it beefy.

Take The Funky Feeling b/w "Flat Black" One side is a cover the other is an original written by Pat Bailey of Breakestra fame... pressing quantity: 500.

The Jackson 5 Edition....

Mock & Toof proudly present the fantastic 'Farewell To Wendo', the first single from their debut album 'Tuning Echoes' which is scheduled for release in May 2010.

For those unaware, Mock & Toof are two of the UK's finest. Having built up an enviable reputation via 12' releases on James Murphy's DFA Recordings and their own Tiny Sticks imprint; they specialize in brilliantly off-kilter, disco-fuelled grooves that are laced with originality. Enough originality in fact to have caught the attention of Hot Chip, Zero 7, Holy Ghost! and Groove Armada who all recently called for their remix services, and that's just the tip of their production iceberg.

not released, sorry!

including new remixes by Tom Moulton, John Morales and Francois Kevorkian

Second in the RARE MOD series. Feats a live version of 'Circles' and the JIMMY PAGE produced 'Wait For Me'

Given their rock pedigree it's hardly surprising that the debut album from The Moons harks back to a golden era in British songwriting. Fronted by Paul Weller's keyboard player Andy Crofts and featuring Chris Ketley previously of the - recently disbanded - Rakes, the band craft soulful slices of classic English pop.

Courtney Dowe is a Baltimore, Maryland, based singer/songwriter who has recently recorded her first album ('Accomplice') with Fertile Ground's James Collins on production duties. This sublime collection of acoustic, soul-infused, folk songs will be released on Counterpoint this May. As a little taster for the album, we present you with two gems on a limited vinyl 7" (300 copies).

"On The Rise" exemplifies Ms Dowe's raw folk/soul sound. Simple, percussive guitar strumming provide the beat for Courtney's unusual vocal phrasing and lyrical eloquence. "Dancer Blue" has that quintessential summer vibe- dreamy vocals and warm synths riding over a cool samba rhythm and the right soulful undercurrent.

Take two of Jalapeno's most legendary producers and lock them in a studio with a load of analogue tape loop effects, a ska tastic brass band and a vocalist of the quality of Finley Quaye and pretty soon you are going to get some classy reggae business to lively up your dancefloor.

Ok they are not re-inventing the wheel but when it sounds this good they don't have to. The original Tape Loops material is just classic reggae then given a downtempo dub breaks remix by Featurecast and an uptempo funk looped re-rub by Smoove for those who don't want to rocksteady to the original Tape Loops sound.
For the rest open your ears, relax your gears and feel the vibe.

'Music for Jazz Dancers' is a selection of hot & exclusive tunes taken directly from DJ Adrian Gibsons' sets at 'Messin' Around, the club he has been running for 14 years with DJ Perry Louis (who is also the leader of the Jazz CoTech Dancers)

The two tracks on this limited edition jazz dance 12 are available for the FIRST and ONLY time on vinyl!
