Shining lights in London’s queer electronic underground, prolific duo FAFF make their debut on Phantasy with the ‘A Few Good Days’ EP, featuring three tracks reverberating the smudged euphoria of the capital’s rave scene, both past and present. Drawing equally on peak-time club catharsis and the emotive experimentation of golden-era IDM and electro, these recordings meld the pair’s diverse DJ sets and ambient live work, which has captivated festivals including Draimollen, Field Maneuvers, and Body Movements.

The title track, ‘A Few Good Days, ’ melds hypnotic percussion, snatches of vocal euphoria, and a stuttering break for instant post-rave afterglow. Its wandering but compelling arrangement subtly invokes and updates the pioneering aesthetic of One Dove, Sabres of Paradise, or even William Orbit. The tempo tilts skywards for ‘Tracy’s Night Out’, a peak-time display of FAFF’s studio prowess that fuses choral techno drama with a shamelessly bouncing bassline designed to tear up any respectable sound system. Emerging from the sweat and strobes for a wide-eyed stroll home, ‘Tracy’s Daydream’ wishes away the EP with delicate, textural delight, floating gently on pure analogue reverie.

Manchester-based Aiden Francis is at the forefront of the current prog house sound. 'Circuit Kween' is a punch one to start the harks back to classic Sasha & Digweed, 'Kompackt' hits its stride with an urgent low end and snappy finger clicks, 'Twizted' has a warped baseline and dark energy and 'Hex Klub' shuts down with more zoned out and trance infused feels with plenty of colour.

From his base in Austin, he delivers a special mix of two classic tracks and two new ones, all with his unmistakable sound that has moved dance floors worldwide. Eric Broucek war der Ur-Ingenieur der fruchtbarsten Ära der DFA Studios, etwa von 2003 bis 2008 (niemand weiß genau, wie es damals war, da alles im Nebel des Chaos verloren gegangen ist). Er hatte seine Hand im Spiel bei allen Remixen, LPs und Dance-12s. Er war fast jeden Tag in diesem überladenen Equipment-Keller, nahm auf, mixte und bemühte sich, Tim und mir nicht die Augen zu verdrehen. Und irgendwo in diesem Nebel veröffentlichte er still und leise drei limitierte 12-Inch-Veröffentlichungen auf seinem eigenen Label Stickydisc Recordings - zwei unter dem Namen Babytalk und eine als Watussi zusammen mit einem weiteren DFA-Stammgast, Morgan Wiley. Damals wollte Eric seine Musik nicht auf DFA veröffentlichen. Er wollte seine eigene Identität entwickeln, was ihm auch gelang, indem er Musik herausbrachte, die mit ihrer einzigartigen schrägen, umgekehrten und zurückhaltenden Kraft vom DFA-Pfad abwich. Seine Musik ist so anders als alles andere aus dieser Zeit, so einzigartig, dass sie immer noch völlig zeitlos klingt. Vor ein paar Jahren begann ich wieder, die Tracks aufzulegen, und sah, wie die Welt immer noch von dem überrascht war, was Eric geschaffen hatte, und so entstand die Idee zu dieser Compilation. Ixona ist das zweite Album des Chicagoer Komponisten Conor Mackey unter seinem Pseudonym Lynyn. Lynyns meisterhafte instrumentale Elektronikkompositionen, die hauptsächlich mit Hardware erstellt wurden, greifen auf eine Vielzahl von Einflüssen zurück, darunter Drum and Bass, Dub-Techno und Acid, und tauchen den Hörer in eine Umgebung ein, die sowohl weitläufig als auch überraschend intim ist. Während komplexe Breakbeats durch körnige Texturen und pointillistische Schwärme huschen, entsteht dieser Ort, der kein Ort ist, und erstrahlt. Als klassisch ausgebildeter Musiker und Komponist hat Mackey mit einer Vielzahl von Partnern zusammengearbeitet, von Symphonieorchestern bis hin zu Popsängern. Er spielt Gitarre in der Avantgarde-Jazzband Monobody und hat mit seinen Labelkollegen NNAMDI und Warm Human von Sooper Records Platten produziert. Tagsüber schreibt er funktionale Musik, die von neurowissenschaftlichen Prinzipien geprägt ist, für eine spezielle Streaming-Plattform. Mit seinem Projekt Lynyn taucht Mackey tief in die glitzernden Details fein gearbeiteter Maschinenmusik ein: wie sich Cluster künstlicher Fragmente zu lebendigen Bewegungen zusammenfügen können. Mackeys Arbeit ist geprägt von den dichten, treibenden Feinheiten von IDM-Künstlern wie Aphex Twin und Squarepusher, deren Einfluss auf Lynyns Debütalbum lexicon (Sooper Records) aus dem Jahr 2022 deutlich zu hören ist. In den Jahren nach der Veröffentlichung von ,Lexicon" vertiefte sich Mackey in den Minimal-Dub-Techno der Jahrtausendwende von Künstlern wie Pole, Basic Channel und Deepchord. Das Album ,Loop-Finding-Jazz-Records" von Jan Jelinek hatte besonderen Einfluss auf Lynyns nächste Schritte. ,Es ist ein Album, bei dem man sich richtig in die Couch sinken lassen kann. Es ist extrem weitläufig, aber es fühlt sich sehr nah an - sehr eindringlich, aber gleichzeitig beruhigend", sagt er. ,Es gibt diese kleinen Vinyl-Klicks und -Knackser, und die Percussion besteht aus Mikro-Sounds, und dann gibt es diese Ebenen von Pads und Loops im Hintergrund. Auf Ixona habe ich versucht, diese Komponenten in den Stil zu integrieren, an dem ich seit Jahren arbeite."

A new release on Keinemusik is coming up, and ‘if you want it’ might be a bit of a rhetorical question to ask. The groundwork for „Crazy For It“ came together when Rampa and Boys Noize were exploring project ideas, and it was only a matter of time until things fell into place. Jack-of-all-creative-trades Vinson stepped in, and laid down those heartfelt vocals. The production was refined exclusively within the Keinemusik circle, and was premiered live together with Vinson at Coachella, showcasing „Crazy For It“ to be the most soulful, passionate, and driving tune you’ll be dancing your heart out to this year. Chances are you might even go crazy for it.

After the re-release of Drexciya's 'Neptune's Lair' and Transllusion's 'The Opening of the Cerebral Gate', 'Harnessed the Storm' is the third album in Tresor Records' great Drexciya reissue program.
Originally released in 2002, 'Harnessed the Storm' was conceived as the opening chapter of the legendary Seven Storms - a series of seven albums created within a single year and released via several labels under different names. 'Harnessed the Storm' was the sole one in the series credited under the main Drexciya project.
The album, which is considered to be one of the pair's darkest, was produced in a time of creative outbreak and emotional turbulence. The duo's confidence was at a peak, new techniques revolutionized musical production, but the duo also had to face Stinson's severe health issues. This led to a radical shift of pace in producing and releasing music. For the Detroit pair it was time to move on from their ground-breaking past. It was time for some shape shifting and wave jumping to occur, in Drexciya's terms.

Man-of-the-minute Jorg Kuning returns to Facta & K-LONE’s Wisdom Teeth imprint with ‘Elvers Pass’: a new 6-track exposition of his singular sound, and his most accomplished and comprehensive work to date. By now, the Jorg Kuning trademark is well established. Cherrypicking influences from the wiggiest ends of tech house, electro and bass music, his music is instantly set apart by his totally unique sound palette.

In fact, it’s hard to think of another club artist who has emerged with such a distinct and recognisable voice in recent years. Bubbling and funky with that unmistakable dose of wonk, you can tell a Jorg Kuning tune the minute it enters the mix. Since last appearing on Wisdom Teeth with 2022’s ‘Chosta-del-sol’ EP, the Welshpool-based artist has become a cult name on the global club and festival circuit - his must-see live set turning heads wherever he pitches up. Anybody who frequents the summer circuits around Freerotation, Love International, Gottwood and Dimensions will know exactly what we’re talking about. Along the way he has picked up a number of ardent and outspoken fans, including Lukas Wigflex and Koreless - the latter of whom tapped Jorg for a stellar remix on last year’s ‘Deceltica’ EP on Young. On ‘Elvers Pass’, Jorg manages to ring an exceptionally rich diversity of life from the circuitry of his modular machines.

The record’s melodies flutter and swirl like deep-sea creatures, and his synths ooze as if dredged from some primordial swamp. More so than ever, a host of otherworldly voices have begun to creep into his music: ‘Mercedes’ centres around a fluttering chorus of disembodied vocal chops, while ‘Synthetic Squashies’ rocks back and forth on a looping dialog between two AI chatbots. Across the record, synths mimic animal vocal tones, from the belching bass licks on ‘Skudde’ to the amphibious synth groans on ‘Teen Frogue’. Playful, oddball and in a class of its own, ‘Elvers Pass’ is a welcome New Year offering for ravers and club adventurers worldwide.

Max Ulis wrote The Plug soon after acquiring a syncussion, the twisted rubbery lead makes way to a euphoric synth line, perfect vibes for a trippy late night set. Dean J. On Volumes Two and Three of the series released last year, Olivier Ducret (founder of Mental Groove and Musique Pour La Danse, half of WRWTFWW) takes us back to the turn of the '90s. It was a time when he was promoting parties in fields, squats, forests, warehouses and former factoriesin and around Geneva, all while working behind the counter of a record shop called Mental Groove. While others in Switzerland's emerging dance music scene gravitated towards trance and garage, Olivier and his crew opted for a sound focused on bass, breaks, and techno. This unique approach was inspired by their regular trips to clubs, raves, and record shops in the UK. Drawing directly from his own record box and a memory bank full of euphoric dancefloor moments, this fourth installment sees Olivier reaching for more cuts of near-mythical rarity, genuinely overlooked gems, and undeniably brilliant classics - each selection has left a long-lasting impression on the local raving landscape. It's an autobiographical audio document, a historical archive, and a personal musical statement all rolled into one. This time a true veteran of electronic music DJ Honesty steps up under his moniker Honeydrop. Delivering four cuts of honest house music infused with elements of dub and break this release is guaranteed to cause the turntables feeling good and appreciated, they will be asking you for more. Hans has been producing music fanatically for long time with first official releases dating back to 1995 so it is a true honour to welcome him to the label 30 years later, now in 2025. The release is an intergalactic warm blanket with music on it that is completely ready for different moods and settings of the events/parties/listening sessions one might find itself in. Starting with “Penha de Franca” right until the last track named after the release’s title “Free at Last” a smooth ride can be felt which hopefully by the end of it will set the listener free, if it needs to do so. Madrid-based label proper balance launches first EP under Valencian producer Pepe.

4-tracker focused on the dancefloor with a wide range of sounds. A1 - Fen´d out is a track in the house techno spectrum, A2 - Count is a heater bass-heavy track, B1 - Meow meow focuses on a more percussive approach of bassy sounds and, lastly, B2 - Nag wraps up the EP with a heavy downtempo. All this together to showcase Pépe versatility as a producer and artist.

Some of the finest contemporary electric artists come together on one compilation and given that unique Yage remix treatment under the direction of The Future Sound Of London, and including one track by FSOL themselves on this instalment.

Not that it really matters, but, new label artwork alert! For release number 008, Mountain 45s gives its labels a fresh, clean look and goes small hole. It’s a “Double A” sider from the label bawss, Double A. And, like Chuck D said, “brother’s gonna work it out”. Big drums, and a new arrangement give this soul classic a dance floor update. For the b-boys/b-girls (and all the dancers), this one will bring a smile to anyone’s face.

This one made the rounds for a while as a digital drop but finally get’s its vinyl due. Hoggin’ drums and the funkiest of bass lines make this a hip-hop rework sure-shot. For old school players and new school fools alike.

Word is the name of the next EP which has been announced on the label as you can see right now. It was written by the prominent artist Orbet that has been making waves in his native country Russia and has played nearly all the hottest events and festivals there are and continuing doing it without any will to stop. It has been 5 years since his last vinyl release which was a sellout hit so this is an important year we marking in the artist’s life and sound output and celebrating his return to releasing the music again. The design of the record comes in the style of graffiti that is very close to the artist as Orbet is no stranger to this art being an artist of graffiti himself. The tracks have a wide range of sound and would be able to work at different times of the party whether it’s prime, warm up or the afters. The four tracks presented on this disc are ready to be worked round the clock strictly for the pleasure of the people of the underground. I think that should conclude my verbal ramblings as it’s best to test this record in action to see it for yourself.

Sourires is back on Saint Wax. This time with a mix of fresh sounds and disco references on one side. On the other, he delights us with the soul samples and old school beats that set him apart. To be leaving is a must-have album if you want to be transported in an instant from a dimly lit aperitif
