Berlin-based psychedelic sludge and dark postmetal heavy weights Shovel are gearing up for the
release of their self-titled, first full length album.
Ever since their first gig, Shovel create an immediate
connection with the vibrant scene of Berlin and,
following their first demo in 2019, they managed to
establish themselves within the heavy music
underground.
The four piece connect the immediacy of an intense
riffage, existential screams and the elusiveness of
experimental sounds and otherworldly atmospheres.
Emerging from the mud of sludge, doom and post
metal, their intense music travels through the
openness and freedom of psychedelic textures to
end up crawling in black metal claustrophobia and
despair with an unconventional and distinct sound.
Shovel’s album was recorded at Big Snuff Studio,
Berlin by producer and engineer Richard Behrens
(Kadavar, Samsara Blues Experiment, Elder). The
album was mastered in The Atomic Garden Studio
(Oakland, California, USA) by Grammy-nominated
producer Jack Shirley (Amenra, Deafheaven,
Oathbreaker).
For fans of EyeHateGod, Iron Monkey, Grief,
Unearthly Trance, Crowbar, Soilent Green, Cavity,
Buzzoven.
LP pressed on clear green coloured vinyl.

Red with orange and yellow heavy splatter Vinyl.

Scott "Wino" Weinrich of Saint Vitus, The Obsessed, Spirit Caravan, and The Hidden Hand on guitar; Al Cisneros of Om and Sleep on bass; Dale Crover of Melvins and Altamont on drums; Scott Kelly of Neurosis on guitar. And all four of them on vocals.

With these four living legends in the room, the term "highly anticipated" doesn't even come close. Recorded in just three days, a sufficiently superhuman time-frame for a group of musicians who often pass for superhuman themselves in certain circles, Shrinebuilder delivers on the tacit promise of a riff-roaring Wino + Neurosis + Om + Melvins power-psych explosion, but it also delivers a sum that no one anticipated.

"It's like a crazy experiment that actually worked," Crover enthuses. "I don't think we could have asked for something better." "It's one of those things that I would have never thought of or dreamed of," Kelly concludes. "It doesn't always sound like a collaboration between members of these four bands. There's something else that happens within that structure. It's about music as a religion, as a belief system, as a means of communication--and in the end I think the music speaks for itself. I've already listened to this project more than any other project I've ever worked on. I listen to it, and I listen to it loud.

2010er Veröffentlichung der New Yorker Hardcore-Band. Mit einer 20-jährigen Karriere und Hunderttausenden von weltweit verkauften Alben fügt Based On A True Story der Sick Of It All-Legende ein aufregendes neues Kapitel hinzu. Zweifellos das bisher härteste Werk der Band, erreicht Based On A True Story
wie „Domination“, „Long As She’s Standing“, „The Divide“.

2010 release from the New York Hardcore outfit. With a career spanning 20 years and hundreds of thousands of albums sold worldwide, Based On A True Story adds an exhilarating new chapter to the Sick Of It All legend. Doubtlessly the band's hardest hitting effort to date, Based On A True Story easily meets the high quality of its predecessor and offers tons of soon-to-be-classic Hardcore hymns like 'Dominated', 'Long As She's Standing', 'The Divide' and 'Lowest Common Denominator. It features the most catchy and powerful material the band has ever written. The album was recorded with Tue Madsen, this time at Starstruck Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark, resulting in a massive metallic heaviness.

THE NEW STUDIO ALBUM FROM THE JAPANESE LEGENDS - AN OPUS
OF DARK & ECLECTIC BLACKENED HEAVY METAL, SHROUDED IN
TRADITIONAL EASTERN INFLUENCES..
Cult Japanese black metal legends Sigh formed in 1989/90, featuring
mainman Mirai Kawashima, Satoshi Fujinami & Kazuki Ozeki
Following initial demos, Shinichi Ishikawa was brought in & Sigh set about
recording the masterpiece debut 'Scorn Defeat' for Euronymous' Deathlike Silence
Productions, going on to become one of the country's greatest & most revered
metal exports. With a journey through the strange & the psychedelic,
incorporating a whole eclectic mix of genre styles & experimentation throughout
their career, Sigh has remained a vital creative force in the avantgarde field whilst
maintaining their old school roots.
'Shiki' marks the latest chapter in the Sigh legacy & includes some of the band's
heaviest & darkest material for some years; a fine hybrid of at times primitive
black metal akin to early influences such as Celtic Frost amid more epic melodic
heavy metal riffing & solos. The album also utilises a whole host of instruments
to give further texture & dynamics to the compositions & eerie atmosphere,
incorporating traditional oriental instruments such as the Shakuhachi & Sinobue
flutes.
The word "Shiki" itself has various meanings in Japanese such as four seasons,
time to die, conducting an orchestra, ceremony, motivation, colour. The two
primary themes for the album are "four seasons" & "time to die".
The concept & artwork is based around a traditional Japanese poem & on 'Shiki'
Mirai explores how at this stage of life he himself is going through Autumn, with
Winter coming soon & so empathises with the contrasting sentimental feelings
from watching cherry blossoms (a symbol of spring) in full bloom.
Joining Mirai & Dr Mikannibal for this release are Frédéric Leclercq of Kreator,
plus US drummer extraordinaire, Mike Heller of Fear Factory, along with an
appearance by long-time member Satoshi Fujinami on bass. 'Shiki' was recorded
across multiple studios & mixed & mastered by Lasse Lammert at LSD studios in
Germany.

The monumental fourth album from Pittsburgh’s heaviest…’Absolvere’ takes a dark conceptual journey into the realm of the human mind and the modern condition. With a pulverising production from Christian Donaldson (Shadow of Intent, Cryptopsy, Ingested) and a beautiful striking red & black artwork, the standard edition is available in 3 variants of vinyl, along with a jewel case cd. To add some spicy sauce, the band have also added two variants of a special ‘Crimson’ edition of the album artwork - featuring two special vinyl variants and an Amaray box cd.

SILENCER's merciless emotional firestorm "Death – Pierce Me" is one of the few albums truly deserving the designation ‘cult’. From humble beginnings in the extreme underground, it rose to become a widely acclaimed masterpiece with a massive following.

To celebrate the album’s 20th anniversary, Lupus Lounge reissues this pioneering depressive metal milestone in lavish editions worthy of its legacy. "Death – Pierce Me" will be available as a 48-page hardcover CD book edition including a bonus track, and as part of a complete box set featuring a gatefold vinyl edition, a 12" version of SILENCER’s 1998 demo, and additional bonus materials.

When SILENCER released their sole full-length album under the same title as their 1998 demo, the time seemed ripe for an emotionally devastating strain of black metal incorporating doom elements and expressing bleak emotions of bereavement, loneliness, and despair. This emerging subgenre became known as ‘depressive black metal’, sometimes more extremely labeled ‘depressive suicidal black metal’.

Around 1998, this movement coalesced around Swedish acts SILENCER and SHINING, alongside Quebec’s MALVERY and US band XASTHUR, drawing influence from earlier pioneers such as Norway’s STRID and Germany’s BETHLEHEM.

While SHINING gained notoriety, SILENCER faded into obscurity, surrounded by rumor and legend. With only one historical interview, no live performances, and no follow-up album, the band became mythic. Through word of mouth alone, "Death – Pierce Me" continued to grow in stature, culminating in an IMPALA Silver Award in 2021 for 20,000 verified European sales.

Since 1990, Esa Holopainen has been the lead guitarist of the progressively-minded heavy metal innovators AMORPHIS. Thanks to the metallic and melodic beauty of such classic albums as "Tales from the Thousand Lakes", "Elegy" and "Skyforger", Holopainen's magnificent abilities to create enchanting atmospheres and innovative riffs have become widely known within the worldwide heavy metal circuit.
But how would Esa describe SILVER LAKE's material in the bigger picture? "First of all, the record's very diverse. Silver Lake can't really be compared to Amorphis, but then again, there is my fingerprint on both AMORPHIS’ and SILVER LAKE’s material... So I wouldn't be surprised if some fans hear some distant similarities here and there", ponders Holopainen. "I want to underline the fact that when we were working on Silver Lake's material, there were no limits. Not at all. As a result, a few of the songs are really poppy and some other tracks are pretty damn heavy."

Neue bezaubernde Metal-Horizonte

It’s been the insatiable hunger for musical creation, a never-ending desire to manifest occult creativity, that brought SINISTRAL KING together in early 2018. Featuring members of UNLIGHT (Ger), TRIUMPH OF DEATH (Sui) and VREDEHAMMER (Nor), the trio continues the tradional roots of Black Metal, while never fearing to create a new, dark path. "Serpent Uncoiling", a magnum opus of five majestic, occult death-black metal pieces, which are paired with the dark elements of classical music. Entertaining, gripping, full of diversity and atmosphere; but despite all the different influences, it is always committed to the band’s traditional roots of the darkest art in metal.

Viking Metal ice giants SKÁLMÖLD will release their new live album, 10 Year Anniversary - Live In Reykjavík, on September 25, 2020. The album was recorded during their three consecutive sold-out shows at the Gamla Bíó, Reykjavík, Iceland and transports the mythical atmosphere directly into the listener’s home. SKÁLMÖLD celebrated their 10th anniversary together with their devotees in their hometown, right where it all began.

Die Viking Metal Giganten SKÁLMÖD auf den Spuren der nordischen Mythologie Mit Ýdalir blicken die Viking Metal Größen SKÁLMÖD auf die Veröffentlichung ihres sechsten Studioalbums, das am 18. August 2023 via Napalm Records erscheint. The Saga Of Skálmöld (2021) verewigt.
