Pop & Rock Vinyl New Releases - News

Peaceville re-issue legendary Norwegian Black Metallers Dodheimsgard's debut album
'Kronet Til Konge' on vinyl or 2 CD's with bonus material.

Marking 20 years since its original release, Dodheimsgard's classic and highly-regarded
debut 'Kronet til Konge' is now presented on 180gm heavyweight black vinyl with a four
page booklet featuring additional content, including unseen photographs and liner notes
from all three performers, sharing their memories of the band's formation and early
history.

The double CD digipack set, this edition includes a bonus disc featuring an extremely rare
rehearsal session recorded in 1994 on the run up to the album studio recording (with raw
renditions of tracks from the trio of Vicotnik, Aldrahn & Darkthrone's Fenriz).

To fans of black metal, Dødheimsgard need no introduction, being as they are one of the
great purveyors of the Norwegian Black Metal creative evolution. The band was formed in
1994 by Aldrahn (Thorns, The Deathtrip) and Vicotnik (Ved Buens Ende). The early
incarnation was that of a raw and at times melodic black metal band, with their debut
album also featuring Darkthrone's Fenriz on bass.

Over time Dødheimsgard became known as one of the premier avantgarde black metal
acts after a stylistic shift away from their more old-school origins, as displayed on the
band's mighty 2015 album, 'A Umbra Omega'.

Back to Times of Splendor war das Debütalbum der deutschen Progressive-Metal-Band Disillusion,
Was natürlich Vergleiche

Hardcore EBM outfit, Youth Code, returns with an even harsher stab at their signature industrial sound with the new single: Anagnorisis. With producer Rhys Fulber (Front Line Assembly) at the studio helm, Youth Code come out swinging harder than ever. "Anagnorisis", backed by "Shift of Dismay", are just the tip of the iceberg for the pair as they push forward with their upcoming sophomore full length album on Dais Records in 2016.

Born in 2012 out of a Los Angeles bedroom, Youth Code is the creation of Sara Taylor and Ryan George. The band made their spontaneous live debut at LA-based record store Vacation Vinyl's employee showcase. Word of the incendiary live performance quickly spread and was followed by release of the well-circulated, coveted, Demonstrational Cassette which saw the band hone their semi-improvised initial set into something altogether more muscular and lean.

Soon after, Youth Code was invited to release a limited edition 7 inch single with the legendary Genesis P-Orridge's label, Angry Love Productions. The single quickly sold out and saw the band receive praise from industrial heavyweights including Skinny Puppy and Front Line Assembly. Shortly after the single's release, the band signed on with label Dais Records to release their 2013 self-titled full length, which was met with widespread critical praise from outlets as far ranging as Pitchfork, Fact Magazine and MetalSucks. In 2014, Dais saw through the release of their much anticipated EP, A Place to Stand, which featured remixes by Silent Servant, Clipping, God Module and Sanford Parker.

In 2013, Youth Code brought their brand of Industrial to audiences all over the US on supporting gigs with AFI, Nothing, The Body, Suicide Commando and a stint at SXSW that had Tucson Weekly call Youth Code the, "Best Surprise of the Festival". Regarding the SXSW performance, The LA Times added, "The band [Youth Code] is a perfect balance of muscular synth drums, white-noise analog pulses and singer Sara Taylor's defiant shrieks. It's harsh stuff, but never less than riveting to watch, and a perfect rebuttal to a festival that looks ever more like a [sic] A-list party than a place to truly hear something new. Thank God Youth Code was there to fix that at the end." Finishing out 2014, Youth Code embarked on the now infamous Eye vs. Spy Tour with industrial legends Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly and Haujobb.

Anagnorisis is long awaited preview to their upcoming album.

einer - Drums-only-Version' vom Titelsong - The Deluge' ins verdiente Rampenlicht
gehoben.

Bonus Tracks:
- The Deluge (4-track pre-production, mixed 2015)
- Shadow In The Black (4-track pre-production)
- Friction In Mass (Live 1987)
- Divine Victim (Live 2011)
- Hammer Of The Witches (Live 2014)
- The Deluge (pre-production, Randy Foxe only)

* With "Snailking", their second full length release, Ufomammut was worldwide recognized as the creator of a unique brand of psychedelic sludge. With long songs, droning vocals and massive effects Ufomammut is right there along side of Neurosis, combining their monumental riffing attitude with the psychedelia of the more visionary Pink Floyd.

On Aug 28th 2015, legendary British rock'n'roll trio Motörhead will release their 22nd studio album Bad Magic through long-time label UDR Music/Motörhead Records.

Produced once again by Cameron Webb, and recorded/mixed at NRG Studios in North Hollywood, CA, Bad Magic contains an unheard of, bumper-sized 13 tracks, comprising 12 brand new Motörtunes and a truly epic cover of The Rolling Stones classic 'Sympathy For The Devil'.

Bristling with thunderous attitude, and some of the fiercest rhythms and riffs that'll assault your ears this year, Bad Magic demands that you fall to your knees and pray heartily that your senses don't get completely pulverized, because big-rig head crushers like the totemic and Motöranthemic 'Thunder And Lightning' show that Motörhead are as strong, mean, loud, relentless, uncompromising and goddam heavy as ever.

Drawing on their own vast catalogue of road-warrior freewheeling rock'n'roll spirit, Bad Magic also strides confidently into some of the earlier attitudes of Motörmusic. There is the driving malevolence of 'Choking On Your Screams' underscoring Lemmy in magnificently omnipotent vocal mood, 'Electricity' carries a hefty chunk of punk attitude married with some of Phil Campbell's best lead work yet, and 'Shoot Out All of Your Lights' screams devilish, greasy, biker-born-screw-you-and-yours attitude, Mikkey Dee's tribal drums pounding out a great path for more Kilmister proclamations.

In this, their historic 40th year anniversary, Motörhead will also continue to gleefully deafen fans with a world tour, including a European Summer tour where they will debut brand new Motörclassic 'Thunder & Lightning'.

The world might be in a state of turmoil and uncertainty, but Bad Magic is solid gold proof that you can always bet on Motörhead to deliver the greatest, leanest and meanest of goods through thick and thin.

Formed in 1981 by guitarist Scott 'Not' Ian and bassist Dan Lilker (later in Nuclear Assault, S.O.D., Brutal Truth), Anthrax is one of the pioneers of the thrash metal scene from the 80's, along with the ''rest of the 'Big Four': Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer. This radio broadcast from Dallas' Z-rock radio station from July 1989 shows the band at the top, and features a great set of their early classics along with inspired cover of Sex Pistols and Judas Priest.

One of England's longest-enduring heavy metal bands, Hawkwind was formed during the late '60s, just as art-rock was coming into its own. They combined bold guitar, synthesizer, and Mellotron sounds, creating heavy metal music that seemed to cross paths with Chuck Berry and the Moody Blues without sounding like either of them. Here you can listen the legendary psychedelic rockers performing live at London's Astoria on the 19th December 2007 at their annual London Christmas gig. Features founder Dave Brock and the return of keyboardist Tim Blake.

Like Earthless mangling some Weedeater, on Quaaludes, Londoners Early Mammal might be primitive in name but their lysergic excursions are aimed to reach beyond the cosmos itself' METAL HAMMEREarly Mammal are a 3-piece based in the home of South London Sludge, Dropout Studios. Formed in 2012

Early Mammal are: Rob Herian - guitar, drone box & vocals, Ben Davis - drums & Ben Tat - bass & baritone guitars

The band released two albums in 2013 and received strong reviews. Debut album 'Horror at Pleasure' was released in April of that year on Devouter. Denis Belindir provided cosmos expanding synth on this brooding dark invitation through the woods of the mind. The album, as with all to date was recorded live at Drop out over the course of 3 days. The LP streams continuously combining raw power and claustrophobic psyche blues, coaxing and sometimes dragging the listener through its journey. Influences of Captain Beefheart, Aphrodite's Child, White Hills, Hawkwind and Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats can be heard:

Less than half a year later the band released 'My Fire' on Convoy records. This album found Dan Davies (Wolf people) joining to record a more experimental late night driving experience through psych-rock, Denis Belindir's distinctive Turkish tinged synth really taking the trip to different levels.

'I have been blown away by this promo twice today! Think Pink Floyd soundtrack work circa 1970 and Irmin Schmidt's incredible 3 album run of 'filmmusik' + 'Toy Planet' 1980-81. Yes THAT good! Eurorock pulses; a bit of SanFranjam; driving around mainland Europe in the early 70's in a lorry left over from the war, worried about the last generation's involvement...easily the best recording I've yet heard from them but, once again, nothing like their tremendous live show, Valve amps wall of cabs- everyone dies overdrive...but the grooves are still tight' TOBY MEARING RADIO SHOW

Two well received albums on Devouter and Convoy lead to the band supporting Bong, and Baba Yaga's Hut gigs around London, including the Raw Power Festival 2014

Third album, 'Take a Lover' is proudly released September 2015 through Riot Season records. After the sudden departure of Denis Belindir on synth, the band regrouped with a reinvigorated sound. Taking the experimentation of My Fire, the narcotic muscularity of Horror at Pleasure, this album represents a new chapter out of the woods and showing greater depth. With the arrival of Ben Tat on bass and baritone guitars, the band shares two common ancestors now: Elks and 85bears. The upcoming release reflects the sound of a lineup finding order through the entropy of extended jams and developing their sound. Recorded at Dropout studios by the band. Take a Lover is live and captures a stream of single takes from two days of winter, December 2014. It has become the catalyst to yet again prolific recording and sets the tone for where Early Mammal are going next.

Features what is considered Lycia's classic lineup from the mid 90s of Mike, David and Tara.
Continuation of the previous work of this collaboration (The Burning Circle And Then Dust & Cold), including final mix by David.
Features lead vocals by all three - including first ever Lycia lead vocals for David.

Lycia's most collaborative release ever 'Features guest backing vocals by Michael Irwin , who is the first person I ever collaborated with (all the way back to either late 1981 or very early 1982). The song A Ghost Ascends is a re-envisioned version of a 1983 collaboration called Ghost In The Tower, which I wrote the music and Michael wrote the lyrics and sang. I reworked the vocals/lyrics for ALTC and asked Michael to do backing vocals.' -Mike VanPortfleet

The Light Room is another old song that was reworked for ALTC. It was written sometime in the mid 80s
and never was recorded until ALTC.

Also features guest vocals from Sera Timms Black Mare , Ides of Gemini) on the song Hiraeth.

Mastered by James Plotkin

Features 'Silver Leaf' (previously released as a split 7' split with Black Mare on Magic Bullet Records
, but recorded during ALTC sessions) .

'For over two decades, Arizona's Lycia have been pioneers of 'darkwave,' a reverb-drenched, gothic take on dreampop. This is the Cocteau Twins, if they looked so far inward that they began to focus on the darker, downer-ridden side. Along with lovesliescrushing, who freed shoegaze from pop conv
entions, they became one of the noteworthy and boundary-pushing acts on the goth music label Projekt.[A Line That Connects, their second release for Handmade Birds] is consistent with their past
efforts, while remaining an intriguing headphone journey.' -Pitchfork

"Rock," says Dregen succinctly,"is not dead."

This is Backyard Babies 2015!

Longplayer- The Unspeakable ein.

Allstar quartet Last Exit garnered its reputation with a string of unrelentingly forceful concert recordings in
which it pushed the energy style of free jazz to its limits. When the group went into the studio for the only, though, a
very different sort of album resulted—very different not only from all their other output, but even from anything else
ever heard from anyone at that time. Because of that, when it was released in 1988, some fans and critics didn't know
what to make of it. This was, in a way, understandable, because Iron%Path was so far ahead of its time that perhaps only
now, over a quarter of a century later, is there an audience prepared for this album's pioneering hybrid of abstract
heavy metal, unsettling ambient music, and free improvisation. Back in 1988, Darkwave hadn't yet been conceived,
much less named and niched.
The brutal sonic assault of Last Exit's live albums is not banished; it lurks below the surface on Iron%Path, sometimes
allowed to break through for a moment of stark contrast. But the unremitting density of texture heard in the quartet's
shows is stripped back in favor of more subtle and varied textures, sculpting an atmosphere of moody brooding and
sinister suspense. And, of course, the studio also allowed for far greater sonic clarity, putting these virtuoso players in a
setting that shows off their masterful command of myriad timbres.
In a world that has since become accustomed to hearing Earth, Pelican, Blut Aus Nord, Aphex Twin's Ambient%Works
sets, and Oöphoi, and artists such as Whote who explore the overlap between them, Iron%Path can finally get its due,
and an audience schooled to appreciate what it offers.

Großspurig, dynamisch, heavy, melodisch, technisch fordernd: Keines dieser Worte greift so richtig, um Between the Buried and Mes Klangkunstwerke zu beschreiben.

As one of contemporary alternative music's most elusive figures, Dean Blunt returns on Black Metal and delivers his most assured and ambitious record to date for Rough Trade. An album of two halves; the crestfallen baritone on Blow is juxtaposed by the inner-city sermonising of Grade, just as the melancholic strumming of 50 Cent gets rattled by the unrelenting stagger of Mersh. With ominous narratives of hunger and loneliness rumbling underneath the gloomy surface, Black Metal is a moonlit cruise through Blunt's cloudy metropolis. There's no telling where he'll go next, but this is one of his finest trips to date

"A band whose name will soon be up in lights, whether they like it or not." - NME
"The hype surrounding them is entirely justified...the start of something extraordinary for the band." -Kerrang!
"Their vocalist has a mammoth arena-filling voice and it will only be a matter of time before they do so." - The Huffington Post

Die offizielle Biografie sagt: "Listen carefully and you might find echoes of Pearl Jam's unbridled rock majesty, or Radiohead in the days when they combined esoteric intensity with killer rock anthems."

Neon Pink Vinyl Pressing!
Long overdue vinyl release of Shit And Shine's second album 'Jealous Of Shit And Shine' originally released by Riot Season on CD only back in 2006.

Back when Shit And Shine were just a mere two piece with a wicked sense of humour and a lawnmower, 'Jealous Of Shit And Shine' came out and knocked folks bandy. The original CD didn't last long and was never repressed, and for the last 9 years CC (Craig Clouse) has been badgering Riot Season to give it a vinyl release. So here it is, in (almost) all of it's original fucked up glory. The audio has been tweaked a little to make it more vinyl friendly by the man himself in his Texas bunker, but it's still a completely messed up brain fuck of an album. The kind only two men and a lawnmower can make.

Split into two parts, side A is the live favourite 'Practicing To Be A Doctor', almost 24 minutes of pounding tribal drums and a ridiculously addictive bass line that just rolls on and on ... if you never saw them do this live with anything up to 30 drummers you missed out big time. Maybe they'll bust it out again one day. Side B features the more wacky/noise/avant-garde side of Shit And Shine. Chaotic distorted blasts, mesmeric chuntering, tortured guitars and drums disguised as seven tracks. Absolutely fucking delightful, and absolutely like nobody else out there. 100% Shit And Shine and it's no wonder folks were jealous.

The NME included 'Jealous Of Shit And Shine' at #88 in their '100 LOST ALBUMS YOU NEED TO KNOW' feature saying 'I love 'Jealous Of Shit And Shine' the same way I love everything they do; the utter wretchedness coupled with humour; the surprising depth of what could seem initially like a one-dimensional sound; the cast iron but utterly uncontrived 'absolutely-don't-give-a-fuck-about-what-you-think-ness' that it exudes. Although it sounds really abrasive, some song titles and the artwork spell out their playful streak pretty clearly"r
