Erik K Skodvin is most known for his surreal darker compositions as Svarte Greiner or as half of the melancholic induced duo Deaf Center. This collection of the two albums Flare and Flame marks his first musical entries under his own name, experimenting with the soundtrack based sides of Americana and Blues. While his Svarte Greiner albums might dwell on minimal atmospheric darkness, Flare / Flame are awash in their own destructive concept of light.

Auf “Over The Years” (erschienen im Jahr 2000) zog die damals 70 jährige Abbey Lincoln ein beeindruckendes Zwischenresümee ihrer Karriere. Dafür stellte sie ein reizvolles Programm mit Stücken aus den 1940er Jahren, Traditionals, romantischen Standards und eigenen Kompositionen zusammen, das selbst für eine notorische Bilderstürmerin wie Abbey eher ungewöhnlich war. Begleitet wurde sie bei der Aufnahme des Albums, das als eines ihrer besten gilt, von einem jungen New Yorker Begleittrio sowie Tenorsaxophonist Joe Lovano und Trompeter Jerry González als prominenten Gästen.

Solotude is the new solo piano album by the South African piano maestro Abdullah Ibrahim. It was recorded on Ibrahim's birthday in October 2021, at the Hirzinger hall in Riedering where he would traditionally hold his birthday concert. The hall, famed in Germany for its acoustic, lends itself perfectly to the mood of the album, which is at once warm, timeless, and solitary. The music spans timeless classics including Blues for a Hip King and The Wedding, seldom recorded pieces such as Tokai, as well as new themes Once Upon A Midnight, In The Evening, and Signal On A Hill. The enduring purity and honesty of Ibrahim's touch and the emotive simplicity of his writing demonstrates that even in the dark, hope shines through. At 86, and even through a pandemic, the ever-active and imaginative Ibrahim shows no signs of stopping.

1975 was a banner year for superstar Alice Cooper with the release of the groundbreaking concept album Welcome To My Nightmare. This album showcases Cooper's theatricality, storytelling prowess, and ability to create an immersive world of horror and fantasy.

From the opening notes of the title track, "Welcome to My Nightmare," listeners are transported into a dark and twisted dreamscape. Cooper's signature blend of rock, glam, and theatricality shines throughout the album. His gritty yet melodic vocals, combined with a richly layered musical backdrop, create an atmosphere of eerie enchantment. Teaming up again with his longtime producer Bob Ezrin, the duo assembled some of the greatest music to go along with the David Winter-produced TV special, and in doing so, created some of his best known songs like the huge hit single "Only Women Bleed." This Top 5 single carried Welcome To My Nightmare into multiple platinum territory and forever etched the word superstar to the name of Alice Cooper.

Pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings and RTI, and housed in tip-on old style gatefold double pocket jackets with film lamination by Stoughton Printing.

Anne-Sophie Mutter and Yo-Yo Ma, who just presented Beethoven’s Triple Concerto in a ravishing new recording with Daniel Barenboim and the West Eastern Divan Orchestra, had recorded this masterpiece 40 years earlier, then with pianist Mark Zeltser and the Berliner Philharmoniker under the baton of Herbert von Karajan. This exciting earlier recording will now be made available again on vinyl, with the invitation to compare the artists’ interpretations then and now, in the Beethoven anniversary year.

Drummer and composer Tony Williams’ adventurous 1965 album Spring—his second as a leader for Blue Note—found him convening a stellar line-up with saxophonists Wayne Shorter and Sam Rivers, pianist Herbie Hancock, and bassist Gary Peacock. The five Williams originals presented here offer the musicians spacious realms in which to go exploring.
