Dodgers - YOU MAKE ME HAPPY/LET'S MAKE A WHOLE LOT OF LOVE
Two tough R'n'B vocal group rockers with killer sax breaks from the mid fifties. Neither side did much business in the States at the time, but both tore up the 1950s Jamaican dance halls and have since become revival sound system clash classics. Who's got a copy of their only other release, 'Cat Hop', to sell me~

Jackie Brenston - Rocket '88'/come Back Where You Belong

Seminal 1951, much covered but never equalled, storming rocker from Jackie Brenston and Ike Turner's Delta Cats, with squealing sax, knocked out outta tune piano, and super-raw guitar riffs. Recorded by Sam Phillips before he founded Sun Records, this is where rock and roll begins. Turn the volume up and wait for the neighbours to complain.

Bunker Hill - You Can't Make Me Doubt My Bab

When David Walker did a spot of moonlighting under the pseudonym 'Bunker Hill' with Link Wray and his band, the alter-ego was necessary not only to avoid a conflict with his other commitments but also to allow Walker to break out from his gospel shackles and raise some hell - which he most certainly did on the unique and astounding set of recordings he made under this new moniker. Redefining the term 'Blues Shouter', Bunker Hill's vocals are screamed, barked and growled with a truly wild abandon, like a deranged synthesis of Little Richard and Howlin' Wolf. The accompaniment from Link Wray and his Raymen, meanwhile, is a masterclass of stark, primitive blues noise.

'You Can't Make Me Doubt My Baby' is a bass heavy stomper, a rolling rhythm with cool piano hits and of course Walker's gruff vocal. On the other side, 'Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf' showcases Bunker Hill's (even) wilder side as he yells and riffs a call and response sermon based on the nursery rhyme of the same name over an insistent, sparse, clattering drum-led back drop.

It's worth mentioning that all of the original singles were released on terrible styrene, which as most collectors know deteriorates progressively on repeated playing. So not only is it a pleasure to offer up Bunker Hill's unique madness to a wider audience, but also to preserve these two tracks on good quality vinyl for the first time.

Herman Brood may be the only real Dutch equivalent of the Sex, Drugs en Rock & Roll lifestyle. He had his share of club-gigs and Rock & Roll before he started his own band. As a young Herman he played with Dutch Blues-masters Cuby & The Blizzards (late 60's), the bands Stud, Flash & Dance Band (with Jan Akkerman) and Vitesse. After a short reunion of Cuby & The Blizzards (mid 70's) he started his own band "Herman Brood & His Wild Romance".

Raw, unadulterated Rock & Roll from the Lowlands, with international appeal! '77 was the year their debut LP Street saw the light (after which Shpritsz (MOVLP090) followed, which contained the international hit "Saturday Night"). Street is a classic Dutch album! The reissue is pressed on 180 gram audiophile vinyl with gatefold sleeve and remastered audio!

MALESCH

HID Records
22.02.2019

BEATLES - Live In Melbourne, Festival Hall June 17th 1964 – Tv Broadcast

The Melbourne show on June 17th was The Beatles's sixth and final date of their second Australian visit. Another incredible event that showed Beatlemania at one of its highest points- John, Paul, George and Ringo played their "usual" breathtaking set list in front of a wild and screaming crowd and after more than 50 years the whole thing still feels like pure Rock 'n' Roll.

Everyone associates Liverpool with the Beat Boom – and that particular wave was led by groups, not solo artists. But Billy Fury is the shining exception. Born Ronald Wycherley on Merseyside in 1941, he was very much in tune with the American Rock’n’Roll that had turned the music world upside-down and, in the late Fifties, was a very credible response to ‘authentic’ American stars like Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly, Ricky Nelson and Elvis. This LP illustrates the two sides of Fury – the dedicated rock’n’roller whose music stood up to comparison with the American pioneers, and the Pop-chart act his record label wanted him to be.

Billy Preston - You Can't Keep A Good Man Down LP

Billy Preston was an American musician, who encompassed R&B, rock, soul, funk and gospel. He worked as a top session musician during the Sixties, backing artists such as Little Richard, Sam Cooke, The Rolling Stones and the Beatles amongst others. He is even the only non-Beatle musician to be given a credit on a Beatles recording at the band’s request. His solo career took off during the first half of the Sixties, but it was his early Seventies soul work that put him on the permanent musical map.

You Can’t Keep A Good Man Down was one of Preston’s final studio albums and originally came out in 1986. “What About The Love” was released as a single. The album is available as a limited edition of 750 individually numbered copies on pink & purple marbled vinyl.

Billy Tibbals - Nightlife Stories

On his sophomore EP 'Nightlife Stories', (produced by Chris Robinson), Billy Tibbals offers a beacon of hope for a new generation of rock fans-- an audience he believes is enjoying a resurgence

Tibbals' music brings glam rock to 2024 within a once-again-burgeoning LA rock scene. He explains, "I wanted to make something a little more aggressive. It's called 'Nightlife Stories,' and so it's about seedy creatures of the night." The result is six tracks that are bold, stone cold, and ready to mold the minds of the American youth. With his mop of curls and brazen, spangled outfits, Tibbals is a return to old- school glamor with eccentric hooks and dramatic swings that demand to be heard

BO DIDDLEY - THE ROUGH GUIDE TO BO DIDDLEY

Bo Diddley’s driving and irresistible beats, which he likened to the sound of a freight train, inspired countless bands from the Rolling Stones to the

Doors. With classic hits such as “Diddy Wah Diddy” and “Who Do You Love?”, Bo Diddley ranks alongside Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry as one of

the truly great pioneers of rock ‘n’ roll. Compiled by renowned music journalist Nigel Williamson this Rough Guide includes his most legendary songs such as “Who Do You Love?”, “Road

Runner”, “Pretty Thing” and “Say Man”. Bo Diddley was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and he was the first black artist to appear on The

Ed Sullivan Show. He was ranked by Rolling Stone Magazine as number 20 in its list of “100 Greatest Artists”.

Like Chuck Berry and Little Richard, it was success in the
pop field and crossing over to the white teenage audience.
That helped establish Bo Diddley in the rock & roll charts,
but his blues roots are clearly evident on this collection. For
however successful he got on the pop charts, Bo always
stuck close to his blues heritage. Among the songs you can
listen to here are I'm a Man, Road Runner and You Can't

evident on this collection.
