The much anticipated second single from the forthcoming Sunlightsquare album 'King Yoruba' is finally here. Sunlightsquare's double 'A' Sided: Afro Boogie Super Hombre c/w Fantasy is the brainchild of the acclaimed London based Italian musician and producer Claudio Passavanti.
Recorded in both Havana, Cuba and London, England, 'Afro Boogie Super Hombre' features the sophisticated and unique vocal styling of Cuban Javier Valera. 'Afro Boogie Super Hombre' also contains HUGE and exciting brass intricacies, coupled with skilful percussion and the production values that you have come to expect from Sunlightsquare.
The fun does not end there though. 'Afro Boogie Super Hombre' is a double 'A' sided single and is c/w 'Fantasy'. Fearless with his creation and never scared to experiment, Claudio Passavanti has completely rewritten the rulebook and reworked the Earth, Wind & Fire classic 'Fantasy'.

Welcome to Neo Baile, a new take on the traditional sounds and aesthetics of Brazil's Baile Funk (or Funk Carioca) that challenges the established order to create something new, exciting and forward thinking.
Mr Bongo is extremely proud to present The Sound of Neo Baile compilation LP, taking tracks from the album (MRBCD114). Featuring 6 unreleased and exclusive tracks from worldwide producers that re-interpret the love-it-or-hate-it Brazilian Baile Funk sound.
The compilation has been put together by two of the movement's most knowledgeable players: Sao Paulo-based Funk na Caixa aka Renato Martins and London-based Sean Casey aka Bumps, founder of Club Popozuda.
The Sound of Neo Baile EP features established names such as DJ Comdrade aka Xao, whose Favela Trap album made a major dent in the burgeoning scene at the end of 2012 and Rio-based Maga Bo, who has been producing Brazilian-flavoured bass music since the early 00s. Alongside these are upcoming artists you'll most definitely want to keep an eye on including Ophex from Lithuania, Gato Preto from Mozambique/Dusseldorf, Chuck Upbeat from Moscow and London-based Bumps, one of the compilers.

Dengue Dengue Dengue! is an audiovisual duo born in mid-2010 in Lima, Peru and is conformedby Felipe Salmon and Rafael Pereira, who were already working together on other projects, both aspart of the Peruvian based 'Colectivo Auxiliar'. The name Dengue Dengue Dengue! comes from aEnrique Lynch's vinyl, who played a rhythm called "Dengue".
The project catched from the start and made themselves well known thanks to an impeccable audiovisual show, half dj set and half live, remixing and making mash-ups from their own tracks with old cumbias and modifying cumbia cult themes to electronic versions. All this always joined by amazing visuals and the always present masks.

The fourth volume in our Luv N'Haight Edit Series features a re-work of Harry Whitaker's Black Rennaisance classic 'Magic Ritual' by GB (Gifted & Blessed). The deep spiritual vibe of the original is present in the edit/remix but is transformed into an electronic, percussion-heavy beast.
Harry Whitaker's Black Rennaisance "Body, Mind, and Spirit," album is considered a holy grail amongst collectors of soul-jazz and rare groove, and an album so rare it's virtually a myth to many. Luv N'Haight's re-issue of the album in the early 2000's brought much needed attention and focus to this legendary piece of work.
Widely known for his work using the pseudonym GB, Gabriel Reyes-Whittaker is a producer, composer and electronic musician with a particular enthusiasm for analog electronics. Though his music ranges wide stylistically, he classifies his work under the umbrella term technoindigenous studies; the integration of the technological with the spiritual and ancestral. Armed with this concept, he transforms 'Magic Ritual' into a brooding, techno-afro dance tune that borders on meditation with it's repetitive, hypnotic percussion.
GB finds himself in the unique position of being an early champion of the Los Angeles beat movement as well as being at the forefront of the current underground house and techno scene, all while keeping a low profile. Reyes-Whittaker has collaborated with a long list of creative minds, among them J*DaVeY, Spacek, Airto and Flora Purim, Jody Watley and many others.

Ocinando is one of the great lost LPs from Peru. In fact, it is one of the more rare releases from the prolific Discos MAG. Its style encompasses the many different tropical styles that were popular in Latin America in the late 1960s and early '70s. Martin Lopez was at the helm, and he hand-picked only the top musicians to play on his recordings. However, the amazing musicians that frequented the MAG studios could also be tapped for session recording as needed.
This record is a scorcher, and is in many ways a true piece of Peruvian musical history. This LP introduced the name of Martin Lopez to the ever-growing tropical music lexicon of the Peruvian public. He would later go on to form GRUPO NARANJA, which would become very famous for playing cumbia (and later on, salsa).
*During the time period this LP was recorded, Martin Lopez was living a double life. During daytime hours, he was a police officer known to his colleagues as Pedro, but when night fell, he took on the name Martin, donning aviator sunglasses, which would obscure his face while performing live music. Playing music as a police officer was considered unethical and borderline illegal at the time, and he would later lose his job over this.
*This LP boasts liner notes written by Martin Lopez himself, as well as tons of very rare photos. Masstropicas and Light In The Attic are both very proud to present and share this reissue, which was taken directly from the original master tapes and was remastered in 24 bit/96 kHz for the ultimate sound experience. We hope you enjoy it, and may this open the doors to a new world of music for uninitiated listeners.

DJ Paulão (Sao Paulo) compiles this great document on samba rock from the golden years of Brasilian music (1966-1978).
This compilation gathers two influences of alternative brazilian musical references - Samba Rock and Brazuca. The focus begins in the mid sixties through to the late seventies, from the decline of bossa nova until the explosion of the disco scene.
The Samba Rock movement, as related to black urban culture, goes back to the origins of the DJ in Brazil, particularly in the São Paulo banlieue in the mid-fifties. With the introduction of valves and hi-fi technology, the sound system became more accessible, and the first parties began to spread. In the late sixties they grew in quantity and audience, and the repertoire, so far dominated by international jazz, rock and swing, became nationalized, thanks to a new style of samba brought to the people by the great Jorge Ben.
In the mid-nineties, the re-discovery of the Racional phase of Tim Maia brought new music and artists to light, inspiring DJs to dig deeper for obscure grooves, made in Brazil in the sixties and seventies. What they had in common was the groove, from samba to funk'n'soul, from psych to afro. Together with the Samba Rock scene, the Brazuca wave brought attention to unknown musical gems, in Brazil and abroad.
Soon they started to take the dance floors with great success! The Brazuca scene was coming! They brought old artists back to the stage, putting names like Gerson King Combo, Arthur Verocai, Banda Black Rio and Arnaud Rodrigues back in the limelight, and sending the price of these records through the roof. These two scenes are still very lively in the São Paulo musical landscape, and to this day it's possible to find undiscovered gems, hidden deep in the banlieue.
DJ Paulão from Sao Paulo, combines the best of both worlds on this compilation. It features 12 rare tracks by the likes of Di Melo, Vera Lucia, Marisa Rossi, Giovana, and many more... A true must have for fans of Brasilian gems!

Names You Can Trust presents the debut single from Aillacara 2743. A Chilean-French, Multi-Instrumentalist and Turntablist, Aillacara 2743 cooks up two original Cumbias that build on the tradition of Andean, Amazonian, and Tropical rhythms with bass-heavy futuristic beats and dusty, distorted organs.
This release comes equipped with custom, vintage-style paper sleeves and original-flavor "jukebox" centers.

As a special treat Soundway here serve up three courses of Panamanian calypso-funk
and Caribbean soul from down on the isthmus. The 1960s and 70s were fertile times for
Panamanian music as Soundway's three volumes of the much loved Panama! series of
compilations has proved. Being the bridge between North and South America, Panama
became a melting pot of musical influences, with local bands playing to entertain not only
Panamanians, but also the hordes of sailors that passed through the canal from all over
the world. Consequently, the Combos Nacionales (as the family of local bands became
known) stuffed as many styles as possible into their repertoires from cumbia to salsa,
reggae, calypso and funk.

First ever reissue of "Sabroso bacalao" by Adolfo Echeverría y su Orquesta, released on Colombia's Discos Fuentes in 1977. Recorded with the hit production team of Isaac Villanueva and Hernán Colorado, and with vocal duties shared between Adolfo, Freddy Cruz and Manuel Cassiani, this is a diverse genre-hopping album featuring the fiery piano of Hugo Molinares, who also composed the monster guaguancó track 'Sabroso bacalao'. In addition to hot, driving hardcore salsa tunes, the LP includes some cumbia and porro plus cuts in the Afro-Cuban oriza rhythm and the cumbelé style, which is a variant on the bomba, an Afro-Puerto Rican folkloric drum-based genre. The album yielded the hit 'Fantasía marina', but in recent years 'Noches de cumbia' and the title track have become tropical DJ dance floor standards across the globe, making this record a must-have for collectors, disk jockeys and aficionados of the classic Fuentes sound. Presented in facsimile artwork and pressed on 180g vinyl. Part of Vampisoul's reissue series of classic Fuentes LPs.
