Echocord Colour is the new sublabel of Echocord Records. This is the fifth release on Echocord Colour, and its produced by Sebastien San, he also did number 4. We welcome a new artist to the Echocord Camp., Sebastien San from France. Sebastien is known from his releases on Planet E, Rush Hour and Gigolo. He grew up to the sound of Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder, Prince and Serge Gainsborg. The birth of Detroit Techno and Chicago House had a big impact on him.

The third part of the rüts vinyl mini compilation series features 4 tracks, searching for common and less common grounds between functionality and abstraction. A coura­geous release and a confrontation between newcomers and more established produ­cers, the A-side here is reserved for the lesser known artists.

Steffi occupies a unique space in the realm of contemporary electronic music. Although she's a world renowned DJ, Steffi's musical interests reach far beyond the dancefloor, and it's her work as a producer that has established an impressive, hard-won legacy. Soon after moving to Berlin in 2007, Steffi joined Ostgut, becoming a resident at Panorama Bar and releasing on the club's label. To date she's released five albums, including two solo for Ostgut Ton, a co-production with Virginia, another with Analogue Cops as Third Side and a collaboration as Doms & Deykers on Martyn's 3024 label. Her impressive discography features club classics like ' Yours feat. Virginia' , carefully chosen remixes and appearances on labels including Permanent Vacation, Underground Quality and mixes for Panorama Bar and fabric. She owns and operates four labels: Klakson (with Dexter), Dolly, Dolly Deluxe and Dolly Dubs.
World Of The Waking State is Steffi's third solo album for Ostgut Ton and a musical departure for both her and the label. It's also a serious statement of intent. Over ten tracks she embarks on entirely new electronic terrain for her productions, marking industrial spaces with superlunary warmth while exercising a refined knowledge of polyphony and arrangement. Subdued melodies interact with each other over implied harmonies and microcosmic drum patterns, luring us into a world that is introverted, bewildering and gratifying all at once.
' Different Entities' opens with shaded harmonies and glitchy signals, while the pulsing ' Continuum Of The Mind' develops with cyclical melodies swaying through staccato percussion. On ' All Living Things' complex rhythms take the attention over the restrained melody. ' The Meaning Of Memory' pairs low-slung, squidgy percussion with overcast melodic interactions and ' Schools Of Thought' flickers through uncharted interplanetary spaces. Title track ' World Of The Waking State' pushes pulsing basslines and woeful refrains through an industrial void, while ' Kokkie' flickers with acid tones over the languid bass drive. ' Mental Events' paints a shadowy aura driven with echoing snares, and ' Bounces Of Nature' flaunts meditative pads and expertly layered percussion. Closer ' Cease To Exist' brings together the mangled percussion and subtle melodies of the album to full effect.
On World Of The Waking State Steffi stretches her wings, having created the album in a period when she found herself free from the past and more comfortable in her own skin. The shift in her mindset led to a new freedom of exploration in her creativity, enabling her to write more experimentally and logically resulting in this new album. Gone are the classic drum sounds and conspicuous melodies of her previous works. Instead, Steffi's productions unify disparate molecular details to forge a greater whole, reflecting a serious commitment to abstract electronic composition that manifests itself here as a totally inimitable collection of tracks. World Of The Waking State is a confident and mature work of complex rhythms and refined melodies. The overall effect is as subtle, unique and thought provoking as the artist herself.

In the Twigs is a brand new Berlin-based physical and digital record label. The first release (RABBIT001) from the label comes in the form of a 12” vinyl record, with full colour artwork and a fold-out poster, on coloured vinyl as well as digital download. RABBIT001 is available now from all good vinyl record stores and major digital platforms.

The A side, entitled “Hairclip”, produced by the Darker Than Red collective, is a hard- hitting techno track, drowned in moody, industrial atmospheres and metallic sound effects, topped off with clips of a telephone conversation and voice samples, and tells the story of an extremely drunk and angry woman on the verge of a breakup with a boyfriend she hates. It is extremely unusual - perhaps unique - to have a “story” running through a techno track, but it's executed extremely well.

The B side is a dub remix of the first track, generated after decades of listening to Joe Gibbs and Scientist. Whilst techno will never match the rhythmic complexity of those giants of analogue Dub, all the love of the sound have been used to include big reverberated and delayed kick drums and dub snares which totally characterise this track, in addition to the industrial ambience from the original. It also features some unique sound effects from Berlin, such as real trains and ambulances, as well as general city noises.

Holuzam's third release features a fearless long-time sound activist: Ondness is one of many aliases of Bruno Silva. You may know him from Sabre (with Carlos Nascimento) or solo as Serpente; under the Ondness alias he’s been putting out music on Where To Now?, Seagrave or Sucata Tapes (a sister label from Discrepant). “Not Really Now Not Any More” is a beautiful resilient piece, mastering the fine line between album and mixtape.

Both the title and the contents of “Not Really Now Not Any More” have been inspired by the idea that we are constantly floating around unfinished ideas. The title is taken from a graffiti that inspired Alan Garner to write “Red Shift” (Mark Fisher wrote about it in his book/essay “The Weird And the Eerie”). The typo and the idea around “not really now not any more” serves this album perfectly well.

During its ten tracks, Ondness is constantly going back and forth on the way he explores soundscapes and how they can pair up with their own resolution. Nothing in “Not Really Now Not Any More” is really finished but also it isn’t unfinished. It’s a subtle idealization of the importance of accepting how things are. “Torre” starts and ends the album as two different songs sharing the similarities – not only the title – that encapsulate the whole essence of “Not Really Now Not Any More”.

“Esquina, Espera” points out this whole idea of never-ending construction, it’s dub-ska-industrial- techno perfectly crafted to make the listener feel the freakish anxiety that we have to be everywhere right now. It’s pop-up music, constantly moving and fading away, reappearing with a new idea and then leaving it out in the open. It tells the listener about how it lacks ideas because it contains too many ideas.

Those ‘too many ideas’ make this a perfectly fit record for 2019. Music that is everywhere and nowhere. But it's not loud or trying to show off. It lets the listener peel its skin and find the magnificent sci-fi extravaganza that “Not Really Now Not Any More” inspires. Going nowhere being somewhere. Do you feel me?

Musikalisch hat das Label bereits die ganze Welt bereist und Dub-Sets aus UK, Südafrika, Neuseeland, New York, Jamaika und Germany veröffentlicht. King Size Dub - Hamburg ist die erste Album-Compilation, die sich exklusiv der Dub-Musik aus Hamburg widmet. Schon als das Label mit einer Compilation mit UK Dub die Bühne betrat, gab es mit Soundhaudegen wie Silly Walks und Dub Me Ruff, Projekten um den Producer Matthias Arfmann sowie Bands wie Dub Division und Di Iries eine vitale Dub-Szene in Hamburg, die im Lauf der Jahrzehnte ebenso wilde Blüten trieb wie outernational das Echo Beach Label, wobei es durchaus zu Überschneidungen und Kreuzungen kam.
