Techno Vinyl New Releases - News

After a 10 year absence, Portugal's Question of Time Records returns in 2012 with brand new vinyl and digital releases. The label was a hugely influential house and techno imprint in the mid 1990s, with everyone from Sven Väth to Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier, Mr. C, Tony Humphries, and DJ Pippi having supported its groundbreaking releases in the early days.

The label's first release of 2012 comes from QoT label boss and long-serving Portuguese DJ hero J. Daniel. The 'Change It' EP features six wildly different mixes of Daniels' new single (four tracks will be released on vinyl). Two of the mixes come from the co-founder of the new QoT - ambient house techno experimentalist Aqob. Overall the package is an entirely absorbing, intelligent and unique club EP that is impossible to categorise. It firmly sits outside the realms of today's club trends.

Giegling records opens 2012 with a release on their Staub sub label delivering some amazing adavanced techno tracks that ar extremly well programmed. Exciting tracks that roll somewhere between the classic berlin dusty and dubby techno sound and a deeper poetical industrial vibe. Recommended!

incl Xhin & Splatter Rmxs!!! Breaking-through in Berlin is not an easy task and thats exactly what Mike Wall, the latest artist to join the Hidden Recordings family is doing with a remarkable release showcasing the versatility, artistry and pure soul that goes into making music for the big room. Mikes talent first came to Hidden Recordings with his darker, jacking rendition of (014HR) M.A.D.A. + Planktons Antiz. Additioanlly, his inventive, high octane jams have found themselves on such high profile labels such as Sleaze, On and On and Pluseins. Additional firepower enlisted for thre release comes two men who we deeply admire. The first is somebody who is making us re-think the boundaries of techno, the elusive and mysterious Xhin from Stroboscopic Artefacts and CLR. The second comes from Splatter, with his evil and dark chugging glitched out trade-mark sound that will tear up danceflooors and leave you shaking in all the r ight ways. The combination of the originals and remixes will also be getting the deluxe vinyl treatment that followers of Hidden Recordings have come to expect watch for it in February. We are proud and excited to share this one with you as we believe Mike Wall is a diamond in the rough. Use these wisely to get your dance-floor moving and feedback is encouraged and welcome.

In 1995 and 1996 Dr. Motte and Dicabor (Robert Babicz) came up with two massive releases, namely the Cologne ep and the seminal album Live at the Interference Festival in Chromapark' on one of the then pioneer labels of electronic Berlin, Space Teddy. Now in 2011, here they are back together again with a big new electro floor smasher, NONO.

In its original version, it's a burner, a high quality sizzling slice of electro-acid , destined to push many a peak hour crowd over the top. Not content to stop there, the b-side is an electrifyingly brilliant reworking of NONO by Maestro and living legend Mr Thomas P. Heckmann , that masterfully takes the essence of the original and lovingly evolves it into a bang up to date technoid groover that's sure to find its way into main stage Dj Boxes all over the world. This is the now sound of the legendary team of Dr. Motte and Robert Dicabor'Babicz, on a mission to reveal the nature of theirs and your mind !

Dr. Motte & Robert Babicz NONO + Thomas P Heckmann Rework PRAXXIZ / PRZ003

This album is a fiercely political and genre-defying album that blends funk, jazz, soul, and rock with sharp social commentary. McDaniels channels the turbulence of early-’70s America into surreal, poetic lyrics that critique racism, war, capitalism, and hypocrisy. The record’s raw grooves, off-kilter rhythms, and biting wit make it both musically adventurous and lyrically fearless — a cult classic that prefigured conscious soul and hip-hop’s political edge.
