Ancient Methods & Cindytalk - In The Mouth Of The Wolf

Ancient Methods and Cindytalk unite as In The Mouth Of The Wolf for this new Diagonal 12"
Mastered and cut by Matt Colton
Artwork by Guy FeatherstoneEdition of 500 copies, housed in individually screen-printed sleeves
Two of industrial music's most insatiable operators, Ancient Methods & Cindytalk, pay homage to the White Rose figurehead, Sophie Scholl - remembered for her role in the passive resistance to the Nazis during WWII - with a passionate and unflinching trio of noise/techno girders for Diagonal.
For those aware of Cindytalk's illustrious industrial heritage - she has collaborated with everyone from Cocteau Twins and This Mortal Coil to Revolting Cocks' Chris Connolly and DJ Scud; this is nothing short of a momentous meeting of epochs, styles and utual intent. And it's f**king deadly
wi' it, too.
Need of Angels barrels across the A-side, pinned to the 'floor by riveting percussion and charging the spirits with thee harshest noise coming on in waves of absolute terror and catharsis.
Flipside, Sleight of Hand disperses that lactic build-up by loosening up and allowing some prime, late '80s EBM swing into the mix, resolved against a blizzard of head-long, atonal ferocity. A Search for New Realities shifts their attention again, arching up with a pensive white noise wash pierced by pinging coin drops before unleashing a thunderous torrent of breakbeat techno hearkening back to AM's finest Ugandan Methods and Cindy's work for Praxis, but with a thoroughly modern aesthetic.
Unmissable.

ELEM sees the light in 2012, during an electronic music improvisation night at "L'Asilo" (Arts and Culture production center in Naples, Italy) . ELEM started as an audiovisual project based on electronic music improvisation and multimedia arts, created by Loredana Antonelli ( visuals ), Fabrizio Elvetico , Emanuele Errante and Marco Messina (electronics) . ELEM is today an interesting novelty in the European electronic music scene that always welcomes new experimental and inspiring projects to give new life to Art and Music productions.

Various - The Real Deal

New York Haunted have invited some of our own favorite artists to explore the boundaries of techno as a form of communication. Straight from Detroit, the legendary Terrence Dixon represents the minimalist funk like no other in his contribution 'Star Dust'. Straightforward dance floor action with a truly hypnotic vibe. Former Yellow Swan, Pete Swanson comes from a noise background and has been adding monolithic rhythms for some years now, His 'Dirty Work' blurs these lines and shifts between harsh noise and distorted machine rhythms. Cryptic techno philosopher Jamal Moss, aka Hieroglyphic Being drops an exercise in Sun Ra worship called 'Speaking in Tongues' and label boss Drvg Cvltvre rounds of the EP with a combination of shortwave radio transmissions and walls of gutwrenching bass drums. Often imitated, never duplicated. These are the unique voices of a techno generation. This is: The Real Deal...

Dj David Coquelin - 100% Prromo!

Incredible, hyperactive gabber/jungle/radio advert mix/collage from Belgium's DJ David Coquelin and Lil' Raver Cloarec - a.k.a. bosses of the PRR! PRR! label - for Low Jack's Editions Gravats label, arriving hot on the heels of their superb Action Mix of New Beat and early techno (check their soundcloud!).
Strafing a myriad styles from UB40 thru a handful of his own productions as An Ultimate DJ, plus cuts from N.M.O., and Eugene Ward, via stacks of cheeky radio jingles (both real and hyperstitous), stabs and samples of Resident Evil, plus loads of Jungle and Gabba - he's brilliantly stretching the definition of what constitutes a mixtape.
There's a momentum, but it's totally broken up and manic, and not without a sense of humour, dissecting everything into 30 second bursts of activity with an ADD approach to dis-arrangement.
Like the label's last cassette release from Antinote boss Zaltan, it's super collectible and hugely enjoyable...we reckon this one's a big party mixtape = highly recommended!!

second full length album was made for the art installation 'Where Threads Lead', curated by Frantic Art Gallery in Tokyo.

The idea is to give a sonic interpretation of strings as both art and as an all encompassing structure of life. Ntogn's approach to this has been to work with few evolving elements, flowing and curving like threads in a web. Resulting in a varied lot of sonic braids.

Early support by Cio D'Or, Svreca, Takaaki Itoh, Valentin Corujo (Exium), Mod21, Attemporal, Eomac, Iori, Jonas Kopp, Rasmus Hedlund, Retina.IT, Victor Martinez, Periskop, Sam Kdc, Antonio Vazquez, BLNDR, Luigi Tozzi

Various Artistsv - Svprasensible Destination

7

* Kapvt Mvndi Records releases a first Various Artist compilation. Svprasensible Destination is a Post Techno sound from Abstract to Acid and experimental tones. A very full music experience from artist productions reflecting the forthcoming and past vinyl.

* Compilation opens with an intense piece from Astronomy Domine, a New Wave Techno production to declare war on stars. Pioneering artists such as Emanuele Rizzuto and Stefano Rocchi well represent the efforts of the label in releasing analogue music as well as all the other great producers tracks released into this. Compilation closes with master piece from Schwartz, a movie sound track for an epic end or beginning... A new music as discord, and as a discordant accord, the source of time.

Bionic Ahmed Ep

15.02.2016

Lee Gamble's UIQ label introduces the hypnotic, rugged and cerebral solo debut by Cairo multiinstrumentalist, producer and sound artist, Ahmed El Ghazoly a.k.a. ZULI, with the Bionic Ahmed EP. Ghazoly is a co-founder of VENT, a usic-space-turned-club-night in Cairo with a sister night and record label based in London, and he has also been a prominent figure in Egypt's underground music scene for almost a decade now,ZULI has conceived a unique sound straddling slow techno and jungle with squawking, alien electronics and smeared microtonal melody in a familiar spirit to his label boss' psychoacoustic dancefloor projections. At the top of the EP he offers a knuckle-cracking Robotic Handshake in 4D synching neck-snap sub knocks with shimmering gamelan tones and gremlin voices like a lost Dabrye bomb, before seducing us with the creamed microtonal timbre of Compactpact and resetting the levels to Beneath-style bleep & bass pressure with 131001G. However, the biggest highlight appears on the B-side opener Robotic Jabs in 4D, where desiccated 2-step jungle patterns spark at the core of a lush, fluid synth swell like some nerve-pinched Nubian Mindz reverie, whereas the decelerated thump of Ahmed trades in STL-style dub-house triplets, and Dr. Beckett convulses like a Gantz riddim undergoing an ayahuasca ceremony. In all, a striking debut from a highly individual new voice on the scene - highly recommended if you're into Lee Gamble, Coil, Urban Tribe or Beneath.

15.02.2016

Kerridge returns to Downwards in 2016 with the custom-built electronics of Fatal Light Attraction following last year's incursions on his own Contort label. The project premiered at Berlin's Atonal 2015 edition, featuring Kerridge working alongside Andrej Boleslavsky & Maria Júdová to create an intense, kinetic shadowplay synched as an illusive counterpart to the music and performance. As Kerridge's 3rd long player, it marks a more fluid, or effluent, refinement of his sound, blurring the boundaries between organic audio sources and custom-constructed synths to flooding the senses with waves of bristling, oxidising industrial tones and coruscating texturhythm seemingly intent on separating flesh from bone. It's evil stuff, all seven tracks of it, forming a closed feedback system of guttural, choking frequencies and cardiac arrhythymatics..

'A scorched-earth take on Wax Trax-style electro-industrial that nonetheless point out to influences as diverse as Depeche Mode's Construction Time Again and Whitehouse's Birdseed. ' FACT

The year 2015 saw hardcore inspired EBM outfit, Youth Code, step into line with what most would consider is their well-earned stake in the current world of industrial music. Spending most of that time touring selectively on their own in Europe and then sweeping through North America with the legendary Skinny Puppy, Youth Code pulled together their newest songs, hunkering down with producer Rhys Fulber (Front Line Assembly / Fear Factory), and intertwined the ideas that would become their second full length album, Commitment to Complications.
Born in 2012 out of a Los Angeles bedroom, Youth Code was the instinctive creation of musicians Sara Taylor and Ryan George. The band made their spontaneous live debut at LA-based record store Vacation Vinyl's employee showcase. Word of the incendiary live performance quickly spread and was followed by release of the well-circulated, coveted, Demonstrational Cassette, which saw the band hone their semi-improvised initial set into something altogether more muscular, resonant and lean.
Soon after, Youth Code was invited to release a limited edition single with the legendary Genesis P-Orridge's label, Angry Love Productions. The single quickly sold out and saw the band receive praise from industrial heavyweights including Skinny Puppy and Front Line Assembly. Shortly after the single's release, the band signed with label Dais Records to release their 2013 self-titled full length album, which solidified the band's widespread critical praise from outlets as far ranging as Pitchfork, Fact Magazine and MetalSucks. In 2014, Dais saw through the release of their much anticipated EP, A Place to Stand, which featured remixes by Silent Servant, Clipping, God Module and Sanford Parker.
Since then, Youth Code brought their brand of Industrial to audiences all over the US on supporting gigs with AFI, Nothing, The Body, Suicide Commando and the now infamous Eye vs. Spy Tour with industrial legends Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly and Haujobb.
Commitment to Complications reflects Youth Code's time spent with various electronic alumni and scales up the aggressive notch left behind in their previous releases. Youth Code's introduction of the album starts on a reflective note but quickly changes gears into hyper drive BPM pacing with rhythmic complexity driven in with the track Transitions that can only be referenced as maniacal. Songs like Doghead and Shift of Dismay show the band as a frontrunner of definitive industrial anthems and critical songwriting skill. Another harbinger of Youth Code's dire shift into more strident terrain would be evident in the inclusion of Ben Falgoust (Goatwhore) and Todd Jones (Nails) as guest performers. The band's cohesive collaboration with producer Rhys Fulber is in full display, driving the band's aural trajectory into consuming and contentious industrial electronics.

LING releases his debut EP on PAN & Visionist's CODES label.
'Attachment' is a data-centric collection built from field and browser recordings, loosely exploring the themes of habitual mental tendencies. 'The idea that taking an instinctual interpretation of information potentially warps and distorts reality. If data triggers internal responses, it risks following a predetermined path that can stray from reality. The heavily processed sample material re-explores recordings collected from over the last 4 years. Reconstructed within sound collages across the record, they strive to find an independent voice but at times back away in order to grapple something else. Merging explorative futurist sounds, Ling's glacial and at times glitchy constructions feature fleeting snippets of differing vocals or malfunctioning machines, whilst dipping into tentative, broken melodies. Loose references to UK culture and contemporary sounds are restructured, offering moments of something teasingly familiar before withdrawing into abstraction. The EP was made in summer 2015 in Liverpool, mixed by Chris Pawlusek, mastered by Matt Colton at Alchemy, and features artwork by PWR Studio & Bill Kouligas with additional art by James Whipple

Imaginary Forces - And What

And What

Halcyon Veil
09.02.2016

Rabit's unpredictable Halycon Veil imprint trigger a quartet of reticulated grime and noise mutations from London-based Anthoney J Hart a.k.a. Imaginary Forces,.And What locates Imaginary Forces at his most brutal, disciplined, continuing to draw on his British heritage with signals to the ghosts of '90s/'00s pirate radio on one hand, whilst signing to early electronic masters and literary references on the other - creating something new, visceral and more immediate than his previous releases in the process. Upfront, the swarming concrète jungle militancy of And What sets a scorched aesthetic steeling the body for Chat 'Bout's pavement-cracking hooves and atonal buzz, before cannily conflating the atmospheres of pirate radio and J.G. Ballard with the eviscerating intensity of High Rise.Down below, Make Ends Meet trades an instrumental grammar of glottal grime galvanised with glossolalic noise texture, and the Makes Ends Meet (London Something Version) whips those same elements into a strobing vortex of UK-style footwork rufige. This is Imaginary Forces' 5th 12' to date, following editions for his Sleep Codes label, Fang Bomb and Bedouin Records, plus a CD with Entr'acte between 2014-2015. It's scheduled for release around the same time as his mighty Basic Rhythm LP for Type Recordings.

03.08.2015

Following on from that mighty Drum & Bass mixtape from Karl O'Connor, Sam and Hayley Kerridge's Berlin event series-turned-label return with a killer addendum to their first release - Kerridge's 'Always Offended Never Ashamed' album. These two new tracks are a clarion call to arms - both sides excerpted from a Kerridge live performance for the NTO, Berlin 2013. Convulsing chunks of distorted, heaving junglist venom on the A-side's brutal 'Sonic Instruments Of War #01', the flipside explores more abstract terrain thru vicious, atonal outbursts. Highly recommended if yr into the Downwards catalogue, HATE or recent material from Shapednoise.

Powell - Ancient Methods And Richard H Kirk Remixes

Cabaret Voltaire legend, Richard H Kirk, and the indomitable Ancient Methods take the skin right off Powell's 'Club Music' (DIAG009) killers for the 1st remix-only release on Diagonal. Ancient Methods takes pole position with two strong versions of 'Club Music'. The 'Körpersäure91' remix fits the label's fetish for Front 242 with a mighty display of stentorian holler, steel-tipped drums and acid-guzzling revs, taken to frantic techno-punk extremes with the double-timed, full body douse of 'Pogo Im Säurebad'.Conversely, Richard H Kirk's dressing down of 'So We Went Electric' fractures and disembowels the original in two parts. The Main Mix salts Powell's slugger to a rasping, grinding shadow of its former self while retaining its stiff, coiled backbone; a desiccated Dub Mix leaves only traces of purified, metaphysical dread from the wild-eyed original in its wake.If you're reading this, it's likely both remixers need little introduction: Sheffield's Richard H Kirk was instrumental in forging the templates of industrial music and bleep techno between the late '70s and early '90s both with the seminal Cabaret Voltaire and as a solo artist; Ancient Methods galvanised modern industrial techno with a series of uncompromising, deadly effective 12's launched from Berlin since 2007, first as a duo, then solo, and also in collaboration with Karl O'Connor as Ugandan Methods
