The "Oganesson Remixes EP" follows the 2025 release of "Oganesson", which was the first new song released by Tortoise since 2016. Blah Blah Blah is the 1996 debut album by Brooklyn-based hip hop duo Blahzay Blahzay, composed of DJ P.F. Cuttin' and rapper Outloud. Born in 1981 in Detroit, MI, Negative Approach were the undisputed champs of Midwestern hardcore in the early to mid-'80s. Led by John Brannon's hoarse wail, with OP Moore on drums and brothers Rob and Graham McCulloch playing guitar and bass respectively, the band concocted an extreme sound devoid of frills. This was first documented on their 10 Song 7" released on Touch and Go Records in 1982. The band released the more metallic-sounding Tied Down in 1983. After disbanding Negative Approach in 1985, John Brannon went on to form Laughing Hyenas. For over three decades, Negative Approach's minimalist and aggressive brand of punk has inspired countless hardcore bands around the globe. Their classic LP, Tied Down, is still considered paramount by most hardcore fans new and old.

PUBLIC HOUSE is a project formed in 2024 by Wolfgang Buckley (Stiff Richards) and James McClurg. What started as bedroom demos morphed into a punk powerhouse that has been gradually sneaking their way onto stages in and around Melbourne and into the ears of eager listeners. Releasing their first track, Rich Cunt Party (recorded at home), in early 2024, fans were left eagerly awaiting for a year until their next singles, Death Van, Twist The Knife and Garbage Bag Balaclava were unleashed in quick succession - with more on the way. Before heading back to the studio to work on their debut album later this year, PUBLIC HOUSE make their way to Europe for the first time for a small run of high-octane shows, which are sure to blow the froth off any beers within a two-mile radius of any sound system they are legally allowed to plug into. Beide Tracks stammen aus dem mit Spannung erwarteten zweiten Album und zeigen erneut die stilistische Vielseitigkeit der Band. „davina mccall“ glänzt als bittersüße Ballade, in der Popkultur-Referenzen auf echten Herzschmerz treffen – irgendwo zwischen Shakira und britischem Reality-TV. „CPR“ hingegen ist ein ironisch gebrochenes Liebeslied mit düsterem Unterton: „Is it love, or suicide?“, fragt Rhian Teasdale im Refrain. On 2018’s “Folk”, New Orleans songwriter and singer Sabine McCalla presents her own interpretation of grass-roots southern music. Gilles Peterson presents International Anthem is a compilation chronicling the legendary London-based radio host, DJ, label head, curator and cultural impresario"s long-standing affinity for and interaction with artists and music from the Chicago-born record label International Anthem. The tracks on this compilation were chosen by Peterson via an extensive review of track lists from his broadcasts on BBC Radio 6 Music, Worldwide FM, and various syndicated radio programs. The compilation also includes a previously unreleased track recorded live on the Peterson-founded online radio station Worldwide FM. This album is released via International Anthem as part of their "IA11" series of releases and events - where the label celebrates their eleventh year of existence by looking back on their first ten years while establishing new standards for the next ten years.

The 2018 live performance captured on Carlos Niño & Miguel Atwood-Ferguson’s Chicago Waves marked another beautiful turning point for International Anthem. The set was recorded at our then HQ, Co-Prosperity, the day after Niño and Ferguson performed as part of Makaya McCraven’s Universal Beings ensemble to celebrate the release of his album by the same name and recreate their contributions to the music on the record’s “LA Side”.

The release of the recording as the Chicago Waves album at the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic drove home the unmistakable sound of togetherness audible in its grooves in a way that only a society trapped in their houses for a year can truly understand. But as that year fades further into the rearview mirror, Chicago Waves still maintains its power. It’s not a mystery—this is what togetherness sounds like.
The IA11 Edition LP features our IARC 2025 obi strip, plus a new 16-page 11x11" insert booklet with additional photos and extensive new liner notes by IARC co-founder Scott McNiece.

Noumena is the second volume of music capturing percussionist Tim Barnes in a variety of collaborative settings recorded in extraordinary circumstances over the past few years. Since the 90s, he has collaborated with a range of talents in the indie rock, improvised & experimental music scenes. In 2021, Tim was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer"s at the age of 54, and he and his family went public with this immediately. The response from Tim"s network of friends and musical peers was overwhelming, and, beginning in late 2021, collaborative recordings were undertaken, coordinated and assembled by Tim"s longtime friend Ken (Bundy) Brown, with whom Tim had worked in the past as a member of the group Pullman, early pioneers of the new Americana movement in the indie scene of the late 90s. The recordings for Noumena feature the playing of Joshua Abrams, Oren Ambarchi, Ken Brown, John Dieterich, Darin Gray, Glenn Kotche, Robert Carlos Lange, Ro(b)//ert Lundberg, Douglas McCombs,, Matt Mehlan, Rob Mazurek, Tara Jane O"Neil Jim O"Rourke, Chad Taylor, Thollem, Britt Walford and Mike Watt. As with Lost Words, Noumena cuts a dramatic swath through a sweep of music styles, all of which are deepened by Tim"s versatile, intensely stimulated percussive feel.

University, the Crewe-based four-piece formed of Zak Bowker (vocals/ guitar), Ewan Barton (bass), drummerJoel Smith and Eddie (mascot), release their debut album, McCartney, It'll Be OK.

Recorded with producer Kwes Darko (Sampa The Great, Denzel Curry) at Damon Albarn's Studio 13 in London, McCartney, It'll Be OK furthers the extremely exciting beginnings of University's 2023 debut EP, Title Track, with the hooks now brighter and more melodic, the breakdowns heavier and the lyrics more refned. The band recorded McCartney, It'll Be Alrighttotally live, and it retains the delightfully unhinged energy that's defned their work so far, with everything thrillingly close to falling apart at any minute.

The Topics waren eine Soul-Vocal-Band aus New York, die vor allem in den 1960/1970ern aktiv war und zunächst als The Uniteds startete. Im Laufe der Jahre kamen und gingen verschiedene Mitglieder. Ihre Singles, angefangen bei der Debüt-7" "The Girl In My Dreams" (1962) erschienen bei kleinen Labels, mit Ausnahme der beiden Songs auf vorliegender Expansion-Reissue, die 1973 direkt hintereinander bei Mercury Records erschienen. "Booking Up Baby" wurde von Dennis Williams (The O'Jays, Teddy Pendergrass, Jean Carn) co-produziert, der auch den Van McCoy-Song "Giving Up" arrangierte. Beide Soultracks sind anspruchsvoll und begehrt, eine Originalpressung kostet auf Discogs bis zu 850 Pfund.

"Bookends" bildet soetwas wie das Herzstück des am 20. Juni erscheinenden Albums. Die weitläufige Ballade zollt ihrem verstorbenen Freund Riley Gale Tribut, ehemals Sänger der Band Power Trip. Sie ist auch inspiriert von John Careys Buch "Eyewitness To History", einer Sammlung von über 300 historischen Augenzeugenberichten zu prägenden Ereignissen der menschlichen Geschichte. Zu Bookends erscheint ein Video von Caity Arthur. "Im Video geht es um Tod und Absolution, wie der Tod eines der wenigen sicheren Dinge im Leben ist, der große Gleichmacher, nolens volens", so Arthur. "Es untergräbt aber auch das traditionelle Narrativ vom Tod als verzweifelte Leere und porträtiert ihn mit seinem halluzinogenem Sixties-Ensemble stattdessen als euphorische Übergangserfahrung samt TV-Pop-Performance und Taschenspielertricks, während Megs Lyrics den Tod in all seinen Formen beschwören." Für "Scratch It" hat Meg Remy mit Gitarrist Dillon Watson eine Band zusammengestellt - ursprünglich für einen einmaligen Festivalaufrtitt, aufgrund der guten Chemie schließlich gleich für ein ganzes Album. Mit Watson an der Gitarre, Jack Lawrence (The Dead Weather, The Raconteurs, Loretta Lynn) am Bass, Domo Donoho am Schlagzeug und Jo Schornikow und Tina Norwood an den Keys entstand "Scratch It" innerhalb von zehn Tagen in Nashville. Zwischendurch schaute auch Mundharmonika-Legende Charlie McCoy vorbei, der bereits mit Elvis, Bob Dylan und Roy Orbinson gearbeitet hatte und seine Künste für einige Songs einbrachte. Die Authentizität der analog produzierten Songs ist unmittelbar, ein Zeugnis der Chemie zwischen allen Beteiligten, Remy klingt relaxt wie kaum je zuvor. Das Album verwebt Country, Gospel, Garage Rock, Soul, Disco und Folk, während sich Remy in den Lyrics mit Patti Smith auseinandersetzt, mit junger Liebe, Mutterschaft, Macht-Dynamiken, der Kraft von James Brown, verstorbenen Weggefährten, dem Goldrausch am Yukon - oder dem eigenen nach einer Tequila-getränkten Nacht. Dabei lässt sie wie immer auch ihren beißenden Humor spielen.
