We’re happy to announce our new 7”, a collaboration between producer Ojah and Jamaican singer Clive Hylton.

The A side contains the track “Always”, featuring Clive Hylton on vocals, who delivers a timeless reggae track. Clive Hylton (a.k.a. Colour Red) is a veteran Jamaican singer who amongst others worked with Lee Perry at Black Ark Studio back in the day.

On the B side we find the track “Always Dub”, a dub version mixed live by Ojah that takes us into a different territory, making the listener appreciate sounds and layers that were half hidden on the vocal version.

We are also releasing a melodica version called “Forever” (ALDBS7018) over this riddim, featuring Nik Torp from The Specials.

After almost a year waiting for the records, we finally present to you our new 7”, a new collaboration between Ojah and Hada Guldris.

The A side contains the track “Time To Be Ready”, featuring jazz singer Hada Guldris on vocals, who delivers wonderful melodies and harmonies paired with a strong message in the lyrics. It was recorded a few years ago at the same time as their previous collaboration “Life Is Better When You Smile” that came out on this label in 2017 (ALDBS7004).

On the B side we find the track “Dub To Be Ready”, a trippy and introverted instrumental dub version full of effects and modulations, mixed live by Ojah on his analog board.

Stepper dub. Classic and instru-mental

For our twentieth vinyl release, and fifteenth 7”, we present to you a new collaboration between Ojah and Nik Torp.

The A side contains the track “Over Yonder”, an instrumental track featuring wonderful melodica melodies courtesy of Nik Torp, keyboard player from The Specials. It’s an introspective and meditative track with a positive twist that was written during the first UK lockdown, and that invites the listener to look to the future, to the other side, to look over yonder.

On the B side we find “Over Yonder Dub”, a minimalist dub version mixed live by Ojah with analog effects that takes you on a trip deep down the echo chamber.

For our first release of the year we present to you our fourteenth 7”, a new collaboration between Ojah and Don Fe.

The A side contains the track “Lockdown Hope”, which was written and recorded during the first lockdown of 2020. It’s an uplifting track that invites the listener to dance and dream, bringing optimism with a mix of tough yet alluring militant drums that contrast with the ethereal and inspiring melodies of Don Fe’s flute.

On the B side we find “Lockdown Dub” a stripped down dub version mixed by Ojah that we hope will give you that Sound System dance vibe that we’re all missing (we can’t wait until those days are back!)

We present to you our last release of this bizarre year, thirteenth release on 7” format, a new collaboration between Ojah and Nik Torp, keyboard player from The Specials.

The A side contains the track “Notting Hill”, a tribute to the famous carnival (greatly missed this year) featuring sounds of the vintage and rare Yamaha SK-20 organ played by Nik over a riddim formed by 80’s & 90’s synths and drum machines. Underlying the whole riddim is the recording of a baby’s heartbeat in the womb.

On the B side we find a dub version as is customary, sparse and full of fx, reminiscent of those open air dub sessions at Notting Hill Carnival, mixed live by Ojah on his analog console.

We present to you our twelfth release on 7” format, a collaboration between Ojah, Chazbo & Yuuri Bamboo.

The A side contains the track “Resilience”, a melodica version over a 90’s inspired steppers riddim. The first verse is played by UK Dub legend Chazbo, while the second verse is played by Japanese melodica player Yuuri Bamboo, bringing to the table two unique and different yet complementary melodica styles.
On the B side we find a hypnotic and adventurous stripped-down dub version, reminiscent of those early morning dubs at a Shaka session, mixed live in analog by Ojah at his studio.

We present to you our eleventh release on 7” format, a collaboration between Ojah and UK singer Dan Bowskill, a.k.a. Danny Vibes.

The A side contains the track “Rebels”, a modern roots vocal performance by Dan over a new steppers riddim. These lyrics first appeared on his collaboration with Russ Disciples in 2014 and is now given a completely new perspective and delivery over this riddim.
On the B side we find a dub version as usual, in this case an instrumental dub,
mixed live in analog by Ojah at his studio in London.

On the A side we find the track “Livity" written and produced by Ojah who has played the melodica on this one as well. It was first recorded as a dubplate in 2013 but the recording itself was a bit rough, and since a few of the Alchemy Dubs team’s members where insisting on putting it out as part of the Melodica Trilogy, the melodica was re-recorded again in 2016 (as well as some of the percussion) and the track was given a new mix and new dubs.

On the B side we find a very stripped-down dub version that breaks the original structure and brings to the foreground elements that were part of the background before, and that features heavy manipulation of the analog fx, performed and executed live in one take by Ojah at Alchemy Dubs Studio.

We proudly present to you on our 10th 7inch release, and for the first time ever on vinyl, the suitably named tune "Alchemy" by UK dub legends Alpha & Omega. This track first appeared on their album "Serious Joke" from 2002 (on CD).

The A side contains the original version included on the album, remastered for vinyl of course, while the B side contains a new dub version by Ojah.

We present to you our ninth release on 7” format, a collaboration between Ojah and Jamaican singer Ras Tavaris.

The A side contains the track “Long Run”, a great modern roots vocal performance by Ras Tavaris over a steppers riddim paired with the delivery of important lyrics for these times of fast changes and short-term views.

On the B side we find a dub version as usual, in this case an instrumental dub,
mixed live in analog by Ojah at his studio in London.

*Starting the year we present our eighth release on 7' format, another great collaboration between Ojah and Nikolaj Torp Larsen 'Nik Torp', keyboard player from The Specials.

The A side contains the track 'What Goes Around Comes Around', a Hammond and melodica version (both played by Nik Torp) of Ojah's 'Packy' riddim, that was recorded at Nik's studio back in 2015 and is finally seeing the light. It also features new guitars by Puppa Shan and Javier Martin Boix. Next up on Alchemy Dubs will be a 12' featuring a legendary trombone player on this riddim and another one, so these are the complementary versions of side B.
On the B side we find of course a dub version, mixed live in analog by Ojah in classic style. It was difficult to pick just one but we think this one is very special...

*Landing on Alchemy Dubs is our third release on 12' format, a very special collaboration between Ojah, Fikir Amlak, Don Fe and Nik Torp.

The A side contains the track 'On my mind', a vocal version of Ojah's 'Mind' riddim that features beautiful vocals and harmonies by Fikir Amlak paired with inspiring and emotional lyrics. The second cut is a vocal dub version mixed in analog live by Ojah.

On the B side we find Don Fe's excellent flute version 'Remind' that takes the riddim to a different dimension with its deep and meditational melodies. The second cut on this side is a haunted flute dub version, also mixed live by Ojah in classic fashion.
The Hammond and melodica featured on both sides have been played by Nik Torp (keyboard player from The Specials) and masterfully recorded through an MCI desk that used to belong to Island Records (hundreds of seminal records where recorded through it, including for example Bob Marley's Exodus).

Also available complementing this release is ALDBS7007, a 7' that contains an additional Hammond & melodica solo version and an additional dub.

Landing on Alchemy Dubs is our sixth release on 7" format, a collaboration between
Ojah and Rider Shafique.

The A side contains the track "Dreams", a mid tempo riddim that goes into the realms of
dub poetry. Lyricist and MC Rider Shafique provides the powerful lyrics and a unique
vocal delivery that combines spoken word with dreamy melodies, while Ojah's music and
production duties complete the landscape.

On the B side we find a dub version as usual, "Dreams Dub". The mix is true to it's name
resulting in a deep meditational dub that will take the listener into the land of dreams.

teppas Records presents 'Osaka Steppas' Vol. 3, the third in a series of releases showcasing the Japanese underground dub movement. This edition features Osaka producers Hiroshi and Roots Masashi in collaboration with Spanish producer Ojah and well-respected UK singer Rudey Lee. The Osaka Steppas' raw and unrelenting sound developed in the subterranean clubs of Osaka, a port city famous for its counterculture night life. Inspired not only by the sounds of Jamaica, but also drawing inspiration from UK and European soundsystem culture with enough bassweight to test even the toughest of soundsystems. Presented in a beautifully designed full colour sleeve inspired by the works of the legendary ukiyo-e woodblock artist, Hokusai. This release is not to be missed.

Side A features an earth rocker riddim from Ojah & Hiroshi, with conscious lyrics sung by the legendary Rudey Lee.

Side B features a much sought after dubplate from Osaka producer Roots Masashi, a deep, dark & mystical steppa.

*Landing on Alchemy Dubs is Alpha & Omega's classic Freedom Fighters' featuring Paul Fox on vocals, remixed and dubbed by Ojah.

This track first appeared on Alpha & Omega's Overstanding' LP from 1991, and was originally voiced by Nishka. The vocals featured on this remix version were recorded by Paul Fox at a later stage. Some of the original stems have also been used here and others have been re-recorded and reprogrammed.

On the B side we find of course a dub version. In this case, out of the different dub mixes, the dubplate mix was chosen to go on the record.

*On the A side we find the track 'Reminiscence', a meditational UK steppers that drops incredibly heavy on sound systems. It's a mix of programmed and real instruments, and features Nik's tasty melodica melodies that take the listener to past, present and future. There are also two dub version excursions.

*On the B side we find the track 'Anamnesis', a journey through time that features sounds from the N'goni (a west african string instrument) alongside Nik's melodica, synths, drum machines and some north african percussion. There are two different dub versions as well on this side, all executed live in one whole take.

The Chisa Years: 1965-1975 (Rare and Unreleased) is a compilation album by South African jazz trumpeter Hugh Masekela. The album consists of 14 rare or forgotten tracks recorded by Stewart Levine and Hugh Masekela from 1965 to 1975 when they ran their own Chisa Records label.Thom Jurek of Allmusic wrote 'In sum, there isn't a weak moment on this entire collection. It's appeal is wide and deep and one can only hope this is the first of many volumes of this material to appear. BBE Records has done a stellar job in making this slab available.' Dan Nishimoto of the Prefix Magazine stated 'The compilation focuses on Masekela's original idea of 'African American Music.' From the early experiments of the Zulus (a group featuring M'Bulu) in mixing doo-wop, rhythm & blues and South African gospel and the mbaqanga/'Grazing in the Grass'-style work of the generically named Johannesburg Street Band to the clearly Fela-influenced Ojah (Masekela's band in the mid-'70s, consisting of players from Ghana and Nigeria) and the readyfor-primetime belting of M'Bulu, each track reveals a multi-pronged effort to find and challenge the notion(s) of how African and American cultural forms could interact.'

We proudly present our fifth release on 12” format, a very special EP featuring new versions of reggae anthem “Ode To Joy (Babylon Can’t Control I)” by Cornell Campbell and Soothsayers, which first appeared on their album “Cornell Campbell Meets Soothsayers - Nothing Can Stop Us” (Strut Records, 2013). These versions are remixes and new dub mixes from Ojah and Ruv Bytes and come in a limited edition of 600 copies (no repress), 180g heavyweight 12” vinyl, hand-numbered.

We are delighted to present our fourth release on 12” format, a very special collaboration with legendary Jamaican trombone player Vin Gordon.
"Bowl go, packy come" is an old Jamaican proverb equivalent to “what goes around comes around”, or in a more positive form “one good turn deserves another”. In this EP it symbolises the migrations and cultural exchanges between Jamaica and UK and back from UK to Jamaica and the rest of the world, pretty similar to the life journey of Vin Gordon himself. The music and the artwork here try to represent that continuum of exchange between both shores.
The Ep contains two uptempo instrumental tracks that are a mix of classic Jamaican sounds with a UK influence, combining classic live instrumentation and modern programming. Each track comes with it’s own dub version mixed analog live by Ojah in traditional fashion.
Also available complementing this release is ALDBS7008 “What Goes Around Comes Around”, a 7” that contains an additional Hammond and melodica solo version and an additional dub of the “Packy” riddim.
