Sechzehn Jahre und fünf Alben nach der Gründung der Band aus Pennsylvania legen die Progressive-Death-Metal-Urgesteine Rivers of Nihil mit ihrem 2025 erschienenen, selbstbetitelten Album Rivers of Nihil einen Zahn zu. Traditionell kann ein selbstbetiteltes Album eine Rückbesinnung auf das Wesentliche und/oder einen Neuanfang signalisieren, und in den 10 kraftvollen Songs wird deutlich, dass diese beiden Faktoren im Spiel sind. At Home of The Good Groove Records HQ, we are absolutely delighted to present our second release - a pair of sublime tracks making their long-awaited debut on 7-inch vinyl.
Jamaican music legend Beres Hammond has captivated audiences for over 40 years with his soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics, earning him the title “King of Lovers Rock”, with a loyal global fan base. Influenced by the American soul and jazz records his father collected – featuring icons like Otis Redding and Sam Cooke – as well as the rich sounds of ska and rocksteady, Beres crafted a sound that remains timeless.
For this release, we return to Beres’ 1976 debut album, Soul Reggae – an exceptional record that never quite received the full recognition it deserved. A masterful blend of soulful tones and reggae rhythms, the album is a testament to Beres’ artistry and the genius of his collaborator, Willie Lindo.
Lindo, a legendary reggae guitarist and producer, played a crucial role in shaping the Soul Reggae album. Beyond his impeccable musicianship, he took on multiple roles – writer, arranger, producer, and owner of the Water Lily record label, on which the album was first released. His contribution to these two tracks cannot be overstated.

Originally released in 1996 on Quarterstick Records, Music for Egon Schiele is the soundtrack to a piece of dance and theater that was debuted by the Itinerant Theater Guild, May 18, 1995, in Chicago. Based on the life of the romantic and controversial Viennese painter, Egon Schiele was written and directed by Stephan Mazurek, who headed the group of performing artists. Rachel Grimes composed this music and performed it with two string musicians during the run of the performance. The Rachel's began recording in April of 1991 in Baltimore, MD, under the direction of Christian Frederickson and Jason Noble (Rodan, Shipping News). Subsequently, they met and became close friends with Rachel Grimes. In September of 1994 after a few more city moves, band break-ups, and general melancholy they decided to become a full time band and complete their first record for Quarterstick Records, Handwriting. Music for Egon Schiele is their second LP and contains a more stripped down and immediate musical focus. These songs are not sparse, they're beautiful. They build, they crash, and they make you wish you knew more about life and they mysteries its holds.

Spectral Bounce’s fifth instalment comes courtesy of L.A.’s rave archivist and dancefloor operative Dreams, A.K.A. Jesse Pimenta. Throughout his decade-long career the California native has inspected, dissected and concocted all manner of dance musics, leaving his mark with drops on Apron Records, Pinkman, BANK NYC and his own imprint Dance Data. On SPEC05 — Dangerous When Wet — he hijacks the synapses with 4 accomplished productions, plotting a high BPM course through manifold styles using the raw aesthetic that characterises his output.

“Losing Control” is a frenetic dancefloor invitation, immediately locking into a pacing groove. Beneath wild hand drums, Dreams plays with an insistent 303 bassline alternating between rasping buzz and oily squelch, while stern vocals are layered on top of breaks that have been processed to a viscerally satisfying end.

Taking things from delirious dance circle to underwater biosphere, the EP’s eponymous track explores a submerged 1980s Miami. Weighty & enveloping, “Dangerous When Wet” is pure aquatic pop-n-lock — hydraulic electro for a drowned world. Ocean floor caustics are transmuted into auditory form: arpeggios bubble up; drones shimmer mystically; hi-hats hiss like air from an open valve. Amongst the sonar bleeps, a barrage of pummeling low-end is sure to give subwoofers a workout.

“XTC Messenger” delivers an infectious paranoid dispatch, astutely balancing the sensual with the deranged. A slow-mo dial tone unfolds languidly, running counter to nervously twitching high frequencies. Its punchy percussion is tuned for maximum dopamine release; the track’s abrupt vocal chops and mechanical kick-snare pulsation evoke the leather jackets and jagged edges of 1980s industrial discotheque.

“Pressure Points” closes the EP on a heady and mesmerising polymetric trip. The parting track is a lithe yet spacious number, propelled by a rattling break. Here Dreams follows from track 2, creating an immersive environment in which sounds tightly twist and twirl. Shifting oscillators call out like tiny creatures as the bass throbs and wriggles further into your brain, long after the needle hits the runout groove.

In an ever-expanding musical universe, Azymuth have long existed as a celestial giant, drawing countless artists, musicians and followers into their orbit. Marking fifty years since their 1975 debut album Azimuth, their new album Marca Passo proves that the band’s alchemic brew of Brazilian jazz-funk and cosmic samba soul remains as vital as ever, as the group honours the profound legacy of their departed founders.

Recorded in Rio de Janeiro, Marca Passo is the first full-length release since the passing of founding drummer Ivan "Mamão" Conti in 2023, following the earlier loss of keyboardist José Roberto Bertrami in 2012. Alex Malheiros, the sole remaining original member, sees his stewardship of the band’s musical legacy as his spiritual duty. He is joined by the equally devoted Kiko Continentino (Milton Nascimento, Djavan) on keyboards, who has been with the group since 2016, and new recruit Renato Massa (Marcos Valle, Ed Motta) on drums.

Yet since their earliest recorded music, Azymuth have always been far greater than the sum of their parts. The "three-man orchestra’s" unmistakable sound is rooted in Brazil's MPB studio scene of the 1970s and early 1980s—a time when artists blended traditional Brazilian rhythms with global jazz, rock, and emerging psychedelic and progressive elements. Marca Passo continues this legacy, seamlessly fusing Brazilian musical traditions with global influences while showcasing the exceptional musicianship that powers Azymuth's distinctive, multi-dimensional sound.

The album is produced by studio mastermind Daniel Maunick, responsible for Azymuth’s two previous studio albums, Fênix in 2016 and Aurora in 2011. Daniel’s credits also include albums by Marcos Valle, Sabrina Malheiros and Terry Callier. Azymuth also invited Daniel’s father, British jazz-funk royalty Jean Paul “Bluey” Maunick, of Incognito, to play guitar on a new version of Azymuth’s eighties classic “Last Summer In Rio”, in tribute to the song’s composer, José Roberto Bertrami. Equally, “Samba Pro Mamao” is a new composition dedicated to Azymuth’s beloved original drummer, Ivan “Mamão” Conti.

David Lowery (Cracker, Camper Van Beethoven) to release his new 28-track solo album. "Fathers, Sons and Brothers" is David"s musical autobiography, celebrating his youth, family, friends and the highs and lows of his lengthy 40-year career in the music business. The album combines three of David"s previously online-only released autobiographical solo albums "In The Shadow of the Bull", "Leaving Key Member Clause", and "Vending Machine", and also includes four new previously unreleased songs, as well as four newly re-recorded tracks: He"s been writing songs about people on the fringe for damn near a lifetime. 40+ years of detailing the idiosyncrasies of outcasts, losers, freaks and outliers in society in his two acclaimed, if not totally different, bands - Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven.

An unsung modernist classic from 1974 – Pitchfork Bennie Maupin hat mit seinem Erfindungsreichtum zu ikonischen Platten wie Bitches Brew von Miles Davis, Mwandishi und Headhunters von Herbie Hancock und Afternoon Of A Georgia Faun von Marion Brown beigetragen. In 1968, Vince made a label switch from his long-time home, Fantasy Records, to his new label, Warner Bros. Records. For his inaugural album, he decided to re-interpret his Peanuts classics on Oh, Good Grief! In addition to the instantly recognizable Guaraldi sound of piano, bass, and drums, this time he added electric guitar and electric harpsichord to the mix. The record was a smash hit. Omnivore Recordings is proud to, once again, present the album the way the world first heard it—as stated on the original album’s back cover, “on shiny black vinyl.” Well, actually, this special pressing is “on shiny yellow vinyl!” This timeless album has never sounded better. The Looks or the Lifestyle? is the fourth studio album by British alternative rock band Pop Will Eat Itself, released in 1992. Known for blending industrial rock, electronic music, and hip-hop, the album features an eclectic mix of sounds and sharp political commentary. The album’s innovative use of samples and its fusion of genres make it a standout in early '90s alternative music. The Looks or the Lifestyle? received critical acclaim for its bold musical direction and remains one of Pop Will Eat Itself’s most influential records. With its unique style and thought-provoking lyrics, the album cemented the band's reputation as pioneers in the alternative rock scene. The Looks or the Lifestyle? is available as a limited edition of 500 numbered copies on translucent magenta coloured vinyl.

Action Speaks Louder Than Words is the 1975 debut album by Chocolate Milk, a funk and soul band from New Orleans. The band emerged in the mid-1970s and quickly gained recognition for their unique sound that blended the rich musical traditions of their hometown with the influences of contemporary funk and soul. The band was discovered by producer Allen Toussaint, a legendary figure in New Orleans music, whose influence is evident in the polished arrangements and the band's tight, cohesive sound. The album's themes of social awareness and personal reflection, combined with its infectious grooves and skilled musicianship, have ensured its lasting appeal. Also due to the single and title track "Action Speaks Louder Than Words", which charted well and was later sampled by numerous artists, including Public Enemy, Eric B. & Rakim, Aaliyah, Neneh Cherry and Toni Braxton feat. The Notorious B.I.G & Puff Daddy, cementing its place in music history. Action Speaks Louder Than Words is available as a limited edition of 500 copies on blue coloured vinyl.

"James Moody gained early fame as a member of Dizzy Gillespie’s big band, with his legendary improvised solo on “I’m In The Mood For Love” which became the foundation for the classic vocalese hit “Moody’s Mood For Love.” A pivotal figure in the bebop era, Moody’s six-decade career showcased his mastery on jazz flute, alto and tenor saxophones, composer and arranger credits, and collaborations with icons such Quincy Jones, John Coltrane and Herbie Hancock. “Running The Gamut” was originally released in 1965, featuring Moody in quintet format alongside Thad Jones (tr.), Patti Bown (p), Reggie Workman (b) and Albert Heath (d). This first ever reissue comes pressed on heavyweight Color Vinyl, just in time for the record's 60th anniversary."
