The Shakes was a legendary Belgian psychedelic blues rock band founded by multi-instrumentalist Alain Verdier and active between 1967 and 1969. They played approximately 100 gigs in Belgium, Holland, France, and Germany, and once supported The Who. The young virtuoso guitarist in the group was none other than the late Dany Lademacher, who later gained fame as a sideman for Herman Brood and co-author of some of his biggest hits. Lademacher, also known for his own band Innersleeve and his work with Kleptomania, Vitesse, and The Radio’s, contributed to Shoot Me Baby with a wealth of previously unreleased material from personal archives.

The artwork is a specially commissioned portrait of the twins, hand painted by friend and collaborator Ryo Koike, known for his eerie, whimsical fantastical style. Throughout his visual ident, he provides an imaginative window into the twins’ cosmos and beyond.

Repressed onto white and caramel coloured vinyl, the bold and beguiling second album from Connan Mockasin furthers the cult singer-songwriter’s exploration of psychedelic pop, almost entirely self-recorded over one month in a Japanese hotel room. With this almost ten minutes long and original version, Feel Fly delivers to all of us a signature track of the highest order. Feel Fly is an Italian electronic musician and DJ. Defined by Gerd Janson as a linchpin of the underground scene, he recently released some Balearic trance tracks on International Feel and Internasjonal by Prins Thomas, as well as transversal EPs on New Interplanetary Melodies and Hell Yeah.

Seit ihrer Gründung 2004 hat sich das dänische Instrumentalquartett CAUSA SUI zu einem verehrten Act in der fruchtbaren Psychrock Szene Europas gemausert und eine loyale Fangemeide erschlossen, die bereit ist horrende Preise für die ersten Pressungen der sieben LPs der Band zu zahlen. Die Saat wurde auf Festivals wie dem Roadburn, Roskilde und Burg Herzberg gelegt und Lob und Ehre aus den Federn von Uncut, Mojo und der Psych-Legende Julian Cope geerntet. Es versuchen sich viele Psych- und Stonerbands an der perfekten Imitation dieses alten Heavypsych Sound, der sich circa im Jahr 1979 verorten lässt, doch CAUSA SUI haben sich ihren ganz eigenen Weg erschlossen. CAUSA SUI bedienen sich aus einem deutlichen größeren Pool, als nur die üblichen Verdächtigen BLACK SABBATH Riffs und dem klischeebeladenen Krautrock-Gejamme. Kollaborationen reichen von Mitgliedern von TORTOISE und dem CHICAGO UNDERGROUND ENSEMBLE bis zu SUNBURNED HAND OF MAN; die Band fügt zu ihrem experimentellen Sound stetig unerwartete Elemente hinzu. Ob die Band sich nun für straighten Rock entscheidet oder sich ins Territorium der Free Form begibt, so herrscht jedoch immer die besondere Wärme und Atmosphäre vor, die so typisch für CAUSA SUI ist. Das Album wurde mit Jonas Munk aufgenommen und produziert, der einen Sound erschaffen hat, der gleichzeitig naturalistisch und äußerst detailreich daherkommt.

Wenn es darum geht, seinem eigenen Meister zu folgen, haben die PSYCHIC ILLS aus New York das seit ihren Anfängen 2003 perfektioniert. In den frühen Jahren gab es einige Veröffentlichungen bei Social Registry, und die Band verbrachte seitdem viel Zeit auf der Straße und kollaborierte mit so unterschiedlichen Künstlern wie Gibby Haynes von den BUTTHOLE SURFERS und Sonic Boom (SPACEMEN 3 / SPECTRUM). 2011 machte sich ,Hazed Dream", die erste Platte für Sacred Bones, über verdrehte Synthesizer her und wurde zu einer Platte sonnenverbrannten Psych Pops voller warmer Töne und Blues Songwriting. 2012 erledigte die Band zwei komplette US-Touren inklusive eines Stops auf dem Austin Psych Fest und einen Trip nach China. PSYCHIC ILLS nahmen ,One Track Mind", ihr viertes komplettes Album, im Herbst 2012 auf. The industry took a while to catch on to this new trend and leave behind the teen idols and dream lifestyles. By the late 60s, there was a long list of new bands in the capital city.
