"Alles glänzt" - Das neue Album von Feine Sahne Fischfilet erscheint am 12.05.2023.

Vor fünf Jahren erschien das letzte Album von Feine Sahne Fischfilet, mit dem es die Gruppe aus Mecklenburg-Vorpommern erstmals weit nach vorne auf Platz 3 in die Charts schaffte und im Anschluss das, was man landläufig den "großen Durchbruch" nennt.

Die darauffolgenden Jahre waren sie konstant auf Tour. Feine Sahne Fischfilet nahmen ihre Hörerinnen und Hörer in den Arm, wenn es brenzlig wurde. Und es brannte eigentlich immer. Alles war dabei: Ernüchterung, Suff, Spaß, Agitation, Vernunft, Randale und Exzess. Und weil sich die Band auch immer wieder politisch einmischte und aneckte, ist Ärger bis heute vorprogrammiert und vielfach Dauerzustand. Nazis, AfD und auch lokale und überregionale Rechtsausleger jeglicher Couleur legten der Band immer wieder Steine in den Weg.

Um all diesen Wahnsinn, all diese Ambivalenzen, all die guten und all die schlechten Tage geht es in den Liedern ihres neuen Albums "Alles glänzt", große Songs zwischen Gefühl und Härte. Und auch eine der besonderen Stärken von Feine Sahne Fischfilet kommt auf dem neuen Werk voll zur Geltung: Immer wieder überqueren sie musikalische Grenzen und machen so ihren Uptempo-Punkrock zu einem facettenreichen Hörvergnügen, das nicht nur die Beine, sondern auch die Herzen ihrer Fans bewegen wird. Produziert hat die 12 neuen Lieder von "Alles glänzt" Philipp "Philsen" Hoppen, der u.a. für seine Produzententätigkeiten für Die Ärzte, Kraftklub und K.I.Z bekannt und gefeiert wurde.

SQÜRL was formed by Jim Jarmusch and Carter Logan in 2009 to score Jarmusch's movie The Limits of Control. Over a decade later and with numerous EPs and film scores under their belt, SQÜRL are set to release their very first full length record. Silver Haze was produced by Randall Dunn, who has also worked with the likes of Sunn O))), Boris, Earth, Zola Jesus, and Marissa Nadler, all of whom are artists that SQÜRL cite as inspirations. The album enlists Charlotte Gainsbourg, Anika, and Mark Ribot as collaborators, resulting in a communal offering that shares an energetic lineage with the New York School of Poets, a school they nod to on the track "John Ashbery Takes a Walk," which features Gainsbourg and turns two early Ashbery poems into an irresistible melodic siren's song. Silver Haze expands on SQÜRL's passion for creating rich textural sounds, finessed by a keen ear for production. The band is known for playing with everything from analogue synths to broken radios and pulling inspiration from painters, writers, and birds on the street. SQÜRL, the duo of filmmaker Jim Jarmusch and Carter Logan, have announced their debut album, Silver Haze, out May 5th via Sacred Bones.

The announcement of ‘Silver Haze’ comes on the back of sold out live shows across Europe. Originally intended to happen in 2020, the rescheduled dates saw Jarmusch and Logan perform an original live score to four films by Man Ray. More live dates will follow in due course.

Blue Room: The 1979 VARA Studio Sessions in Holland features two recordings of trumpet/vocal icon Chet Baker captured in glorious stereo at the legendary VARA studio 2 in Hilversum, the Netherlands for the KRO radio program Nine O’Clock Jazz. The April 10, 1979 session features pianist Phil Markowitz, bassist Jean-Louis Rassinfosse, and drummer Charles Rice; and the November 9th session features pianist Frans Elsen, bassist Victor Kaihatu, and drummer Eric Ineke. Both sessions were originally produced by Edwin Rutten, and are produced for release officially for the first time by “jazz detective” Zev Feldman and Frank Jochemsen. The limited-edition 2-LP set (and deluxe 2-CD edition) includes an elaborate booklet with photos by Veryl Oakland, Jean-Pierre Leloir, Christian Rose and others; liner notes by Dutch journalist Jeroen de Valk, plus essays by Feldman, Jochemsen, and Rutten; and interviews with Baker bandmates Phil Markowtiz, Jean-Louis Rassinfosse and Eric Ineke, as well as trumpeters Randy Brecker and Enrico Rava, and pianist Enrico Pieranunzi. Wenn ungeschliffener Garage Rock auf Psychedelic Riffs trifft und dann noch eine Prise Indie darüber gestreut wird, dann kann das nur eins ergeben: The DogHunters. Gemeinsam sperrten sich die 5 Freunde für lange Zeit in einen Keller ein, hier mischen sich die Rolling Stones, The Clash, Bob Marley und auch jede Menge Kreativität. "Oumuamua" ist das dritte Album der Band. Fühlte sich die letzte LP der Gruppe wie ein Tag am Strand an, kommt das aktuelle Album "Oumuamua" einer Nacht im Wald gleich. Die Stimmung wird düsterer, die Psychedelik kann nach wohliger Wärme in diffuse Paranoia umschlagen ("Ayahuasca", "Cyber Skies") und auf einmal wird Bekanntes mysteriös.. doch wohnt der nächtlichen Stimmung der Platte auch die Chance inne in schamanischen Schattentänzen die Gestalt zu ändern; das nutzen die Musiker in Flamenco Anleihen die an spanische Skizzen erinnern ("The Sun") oder Wüstengrooves("Giza"). Die Nacht kann aber auch schön sein wenn die Sterne durch das Blätterdach aufblitzen wie in "Callisto Moon". Die Musik katapultiert die Zuhörer in verschiedene Welten, wobei auch die Texte diese verdeutlichen. Hierbei werden nicht nur Fernöstliche Weisheiten als Inspration genutzt, sondern auch Gedankenspiele die eine postapokalyptische Welt erahnen lassen sowie Träume die an den Rand der Unendlichkeit erinnern. Wir hören eine gereifte Band die im Songwriting sucht, ausprobiert und verschiedene Einflüsse auf einem Fundament des Grooves und straighten Rocks balanciert. Die Aufnahmen fanden grundsätzlich nach 22 Uhr statt.

Following up his score for the japanese Netflix Anime series “Carole & Tuesday”, Mocky returns to album mode with his new orchestral opus “Overtones For The Omniverse”. Just days before the first Covid lockdowns, Mocky brought a 16 person orchestra comprising of his usual who’s who of underground talent into LA’s Barefoot Studios (and into the same room where Stevie Wonder recorded “Songs in the Key of Life”) to record a pile of scores he had come up with during his previous year’s sabbatical in Portugal. The result is a stunning orchestral album recorded in 36 hours in one or two takes straight off the written page. Shunning the “possible perfection” of today's recording techniques, Mocky looked back as a way to find an alternate future.

According to Mocky:
“We had to do it quick with no rehearsal to capture that big open sound of people working together in a room - in all its imperfect glory. In the imperfections you find the humanity. And in today’s tech driven spaces you have to fight to preserve a space for humanity. I felt a deep desire to create a sonic trajectory path for us to follow as we ascend and evolve our understanding of love and what it means to be human. This is the inspiration for „Overtones for the Omniverse“”.

The album runs the gamut from Steve Reich infused minimalism overlaid with Dorothy Ashby style harp runs (“Overtures”) to atonal analogue synth sounds over Martin Denny style percussion (“Bora!”). There's a classic Mocky crooning number that gives a Jim Henson-esque take on the state of “Humans” and the album as a whole captures Mocky's skill of bringing together the joyful energy of a unique cast of LA collaborators.

ABOUT MOCKY
Performer, producer, songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist, Dominic "Mocky" Salole came to prominence in the Berlin electronic scene of the mid 2000s, releasing three acclaimed solo albums, co-writing and producing classics like Jamie Lidell's "Multiply" and Feist's "The Reminder" and making waves on stage with close collaborators (and fellow Canadians) Peaches, Feist and Chilly Gonzales.
In 2009, his music took a jazz-inflected turn to the acoustic with the release of "Saskamodie" and in 2011, after work in Big Sur on Feist's "Metals", Mocky relocated to Los Angeles, where he quickly established himself as a co-writer with uncommon credentials and eccentric working methods collaborating with L.A.’s brightest breakthrough artists like Kelela, Joey Dosik, Vulfpeck or Moses Sumney.

Whilst in L.A. songs he has written have been sung by Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott and many more and he has collaborated with artists as diverse as Mali’s Bassekou Kouyate and the GZA. His monthly rooftops gigs at the ACE Hotel breathed new life into the LA live scene and Mocky channeled those new creative energies into his fifth full length album "Key Change" and four digital mixtapes/EPs "The Moxtapes" Vol. I-IV.

After co-producing and co-writing Feist's "Pleasure", Kelela's "Take Me Apart" and Joey Dosik's "Inside Voice", in 2018 Mocky released two albums: "Music Save Me (One More Time)" - a collection of the best of Japan-only/unreleased gems and favorites from his so far digital only "Moxtapes" series and "A Day At United", an instrumental jazz album, recorded in a single day in the legendary LA recording studio United Recording.

In 2019 Mocky delved into soundtrack work by collaborating with legendary Anime director Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop) on the first two seasons of the breakthrough show “Carole and Tuesday” (Netflix) for which he won Best Score at the Anime Awards 2020.

Marcos Díaz has been part of Buenos Aires underground for many years, being in projects like Bosques and making solo music under the pseudonym Entidad Animada (animated entity). Under this project, Marcos has explored sounds that involve a mix of feedback/distortion through synthesizers, guitars and drum machines that hint at the influence of Stereolab, Spacemen 3, and mid-nineties shoegaze. However, there are also ambient soundscapes with a slight rubbed of the ritualistic psychedelia of the Popol Vuh. The display of colours in his music comes together in the midst of a playful, relaxed and optimistic environment that is simultaneously melancholic. Because of the nature of those pieces, but also because in Entidad Animada there is also space for collage sounds that blend randomly with textures of a primitive analog sound, which inevitably causes a paradox between what is alive and what is inert. And it is because Entidad Animada is precisely that, a spectrum or a vision, a ghost. And these sounds are proof of his existence.

Pruebas de existencia (proofs of existence) is a collection of recordings that Marcos has made in recent years and that we have selected for this album, his first work on Umor Rex. A couple of these pieces were only released digitally, while the others have been on ltd cassette editions through Fuego Amigo Discos in Argentina. PASCOW beenden die Experimente, die auf dem letzten Album "Jade" zu finden waren. Obwohl sich die Band beim Songwriting erneut am Rande ihrer Möglichkeit bewegt und mit insgesamt 4 Wochen deutlich mehr Zeit mit Kurt Ebelhäuser und Michel Wern im Tonstudio 45 verbrachte, ist "Sieben" geradlinig, verdichtet und klar, wie kein PASCOW Album zuvor. Sowohl musikalisch als auch textlich. 14 Stücke, keine Ballade. Punkrock, Metalriffs, Violinen - dazu Texte über Daniel Johnston, Wall E und Eve, das Bethanien oder die Königin im Ritzen. Was wie eine Mixtur des Grauens klingt, ist auf "Sieben" geschlossen. Hinzu kommt eine Reihe an Gästen: Apokalypse Vega von Acht Eimer Hühnerherzen, Nadine Nevermore von NTÄ oder die Trierer Sängerin Hanna Landwehr seien hier exemplarisch genannt. Das Mastering von "Sieben" übernahm Andi "Dog" Jung in Berlin. Das Artwork stammt von André Nossek (Via Grafik), der bereits das Cover zu "Diene der Party" gestaltete.

The “Heaven” EP features producer-extraordinaire Leonard Charles at the helm, collaborating with prodigious artists from New Zealand (his home country) and the USA, to create an wildly eclectic E.P. project with the common underlying thread of basement funk knitting it together. This presentation of funk is truly a legitimate foundation for the heads that need it: built upon solid soul/jazz chord progressions and played on original musical equipment/gear from the 80’s and 90’s. The record features an exclusive remix of the song “Nine Lives” that he co-wrote with boogie/funk legend Leroy Burgess, and additionally features stellar collaborations with Guilty Simpson, Zyah Belle, Reality Jonez and A.C. Freezy. Jeremy ‘Leonard Charles’ Toy is a producer / artist / musician from Auckland New Zealand who has played on records for Mark De Clive Lowe, Recloose, Julien Dyne and Ladyhawke. He has performed music with Randy Crawford, Hugh Masakela, Kimbra, Maynard Ferguson, Ronald LaPread (the Commodores) and has collaborated with Grandmaster Caz, Guilty Simpson (The Leonard Simpson Duo), Georgia-Anne Muldrow, Dudley Perkins and Wildchild. He has released music on his own imprint, From The Crate Records and Jakarta Records, Hit + Run, Wonderful Noise, Hobo Camp and now CQQL Records.
