Rumbleton makes a welcome return to Rupture, cooking up some essential flavours with the 'Right Ingredients EP'.
Toronto connects with London once again as Rumbleton makes his first appearance on the label since 'The Fifth Column' in 2018 - it has been worth the wait as four cuts are exported in all the correct measures.
Lead track 'Right Ingredients' has been one of Rupture’s most sought after dubs. A totally unique track with elements of dub, soul, drumfunk and a chest rattling bassline that cuts deep.
Heavy artillery follows on 'Raw Deal' in a surge of amen pressure that continues into 'Just A Dream'.
Rumbleton never loses sight of the musicality however; his collaboration with Dodz, ‘Island Cream’ is filled with warm pads, tough breaks, groove & heart.
Canadian-based producer Rumbleton returns after his remix on AKOism 3 to release his solo EP on an AKO Beatz. 4 carefully constructed tracks that take you on a journey, Rumbleton engineering skills are next level and we call him the beat master at AKO. Beats that take you into the darkness then bring you into the light. Rumbleton also linked up with AKO boss to produce a track that has already got people excited. Outernational jungle at its finest.
Damon Yates, AKA martianMan, set up 4th Planet Recordings to release music by people which includes some of his more favorite artists. Artist that simply need to have more music released. It involves the same basic idea that he had when starting up the martianMan volumes which is to release original, high quality jungle with a completely underground feel. Not only the bass and drums are important for the vibes but the whole feel of the music is in play. It can be completely futuristic sounding or full of old school vibes though out. However it's served up just know that it is underground.
Touching down for the inaugural release on the newly formed label, North of 7 Sounds, is the mighty Rumbleton - a true heavyweight with over 2 decades immersed in sound system culture, running the Stand Firm Hi-Fi label and releasing music on Scientific Wax, Rupture LDN, Outsider, and Samurai Music to name but a few. A true master of his sound, we are extremely proud to have Rumbleton set the bar for future North of 7 excursions. A New Day' takes you on a journey filled with haunting pads, razor-sharp drum kit clashes, and infinite amounts of low-end. Bottomless swathes of atmospherics respire in and out of the mix, culminating in a breathtaking breakdown - crafted with utmost devotion to the Godfather of Soul himself. A truly honourable homage to jungle's roots in sample culture and breakbeat science.Conscience' on the flipside is weightiness refracted in minimalism. Rumbleton fully submerges your mental space in a cavernous, dubwise fog, while militant, scorched-earth drums power the tune forward. A warm, subterranean bassline churns endlessly beneath, all the elements occasionally exhaling and collapsing under their own weight, only to regenerate once again...
I think "Divide & Conquer" is so far the only tune on Future Retro London that I've signed after hearing it on social media. Friske posted a clip on his Instagram profile of a tune he was working on at the time and I instantly messaged him asking about the tune and what the plans were for it. He was making it with his own label, Requisite Music, in mind but thankfully was willing to let me have it for my label when it was done. The tune blew my mind when I first heard it, and I knew that it was something that I needed to release. I've been a big fan of Friske's music for years so it's great to finally have him on the label, alongside a remix done by Gremlinz & Rumbleton.
Around the same time as that, IJO messaged me on SoundCloud with a bunch of unsigned material, after I'd earlier expressed interest in having his music on the label. Of the tracks he sent me, two called "Glitter" & "Mark 11" caught my interest but out of curiosity, I asked him if he could combine the drums from "Glitter" with the melodies & sounds from "Mark 11" which he did and it sounded fantastic. I wanted to get someone to remix the tune and when I asked IJO's opinion on who he wants to remix it, he suggested Artificial Red, who I already had music coming on the label from, so it made sense to ask him, he was up for it and he's done a cracking version of "Mark 11".
