Cold War Kids have announced their 10th studio album, Cold War Kids, that will arrive on November 3 via AWAL. The band’s singer and songwriter Nathan Willett describes: " This is our self titled record . Everybody gets one . This felt like the right time because the sound of this record is the sound that makes Cold War kids unlike any other . I’m so proud of these songs. They took a long time to come together . The longing and struggle and joy I wanted to express are personal to me and i am so excited to share it with our fans who have come with us on the journey.”
The epic tale of Cold War Kids has long been informed by deeply personal songcraft, enthusiastic experimentation, and an avowed commitment towards forward motion. The band continues their ascent, becoming one of the biggest rock bands of their generation amassing more than half a billion streams, consistently churning out alternative radio hits, selling out tours and headlining festivals worldwide.

Get Up! ist ein moderner Blues-Klassiker in der großen, aber allzu seltenen Tradition der Zusammenarbeit von Künstlern auf einem ganzen Album. Harpers zwölftes Studioalbum, das 2013 bei Stax Records erschienen ist, vereint Gospel, Roots, Country und R&B. Die fließende Chemie zwischen den beiden Künstlern trägt dazu bei, dass sich sein vielschichtiges Werk wie nie zuvor entfaltet. Der Film erhielt sehr positive Kritiken und wurde für sechs Oscars nominiert, wobei zwei dieser Nominierungen (für die beste Regie und das beste adaptierte Drehbuch) an Petersen selbst gingen; außerdem war er für einen BAFTA Award und einen DGA Award nominiert.

Der Soundtrack zum Film wurde von Klaus Doldinger komponiert und produziert, der für seine Arbeit im Jazz und als Filmmusikkomponist bekannt ist. Die charakteristische Titelmelodie des Soundtracks
verselbständigte sich, nachdem die deutsche Rave-Gruppe U96 1991 eine neu abgemischte "Techno-Version" geschaffen hatte. Die Titelmelodie "Das Boot" wurde später zu einem internationalen Hit.

Die sechs Tracks der neuen EP ,Bavarian Wasted Youth" decken vom melodischen Punkrocksong bis zum Hardcoreknaller mit Metalkante wieder alle Sparten ab, die den geneigten Rockfan zum kollektiven Kopfnicken bewegen und vor allem die Band selbst nach wie vor begeistern. Diesmal jedoch mit einem Unterschied. Alle enthaltenen Texte sind in bairischem Dialekt verfasst. Natürlich ist Mundartmusik, vor allem im Bairischen, mittlerweile nichts Neues mehr, da Künstler wie Hannes Ringlstetter, Karin Rabhansl, Claudia Koreck, Dicht & Ergreifend, Bbou, Liquid oder auch die Spider Murphy Gang längst auch überregional erfolgreich sind. Aber da der Punk- und Hardcoresektor bis auf ein paar Ausnahmen hier noch echten Nachholbedarf zu vermelden hat, hat sich das Neunburger Trio einen echten Herzenswunsch erfüllt, und ,Bavarian Wasted Youth" Leben eingehaucht. Und wie könnte man echte Emotionen besser überliefern als in der Sprache, die man seit Kindertagen spricht? Doch was hat es mit diesem Titel eigentlich auf sich? Wörtlich übersetzt geht es ja um die "Bayerische verschwendete Jugend", was im ersten Moment vielleicht unpassend wirken mag, da es keineswegs darum geht, irgendwelche Jugendsünden zu bereuen, oder die Sinnlosigkeit des Lebens als junger Mensch im bairischen Raum zu beklagen. Eher soll sich von den konservativen Wertevorstellungen "der Alten" abgegrenzt und eine tolerantere Weltanschauung und ein alternativer Lebensstil zum Ausdruck gebracht werden, wobei aber auf ein gewisses Maß an "Bavarian Living" nicht verzichtet werden muss. Frischer Wind für alte Gepflogenheiten sozusagen. Wo also so mancher Stammtischbruder um die Betonpfeiler seiner heilen Welt Tränen vergießen wird und "den Jungen" mangels fehlenden Verständnisses verschwendete Lebenszeit vorwirft, da wird umso deutlicher, dass "Bavarian Wasted Youth" etwas freier übersetzt doch passt, wie die metaphorische Faust aufs Auge. Naarm/Melbourne-based soul artist and proud Noongar woman Bumpy presents her new single, ‘Return Home’, it illuminates the transportive nature of BUMPY, guiding the listener through a world in which vulnerability is strength and power is quiet but self-assured.

Described by Bumpy as an ode to home and “the people, places and connections that make us feel grounded and at ease”, ‘Return Home’ is propelled by stirring strings arranged by Aaron Wyatt, who recently marked history as the first Indigenous conductor of an Australian state orchestra.

Reissued for the first time on vinyl, an amazing showcase of roots & reggae lovers, originally released on Trojan in 1977. Although his place as a reggae pioneer cannot be questioned, Owen Gray has felt for many years that he never got his due from Jamaica, his homeland. On August 6 2023, the government finally recognized his contribution awarding him with the honour of Order Of Distinction, Jamaica’s sixth-highest honour. Gray, now 87, is ecstatic about what he considers an overdue and deserved reward. In the rocksteady era, he recorded for producer Sir Clancy Collins AKA sir collins. His popularity continued throughout the 1960s, working with producers such as Clement Dodd, Prince Buster, Sydney Crooks, Arthur "Duke" Reid, Leslie Kong, and Clancy Eccles, including work as a duo with Millie Small, with songs ranging from ska to ballads. He continued to record regularly, having a big hit in 1968 with "Cupid". His 1970 track "Apollo 12" found favour with the early skinheads, and in 1972 he returned to Island Records, recording reggae versions of The Rolling Stones' "Tumblin' Dice" and John Lennon's "Jealous Guy", although they met with little success. During this period, he regularly had releases on Pama and Pioneer Internacional label, Camel Records, and one single on Hot Lead Records. He had greater success in Jamaica, however, with "Hail the Man", a tribute to Emperor Haile Selassie, which was popular with the increasing Rastafari following.

Pieces well and truly picked up by a who's who of collectors and selectors, the TD team follow Bobby Snacks' super smash with some seriously synthy slices from good buddies Miserymix.

A collaboration born behind the Piccadilly Records' counter, Miserymix is the dark disco alias of Goth Spice (Kohl AF, dressed in black and armed with nonpliments) and Mushy P (a toothy and goofy Talking Drummer). Based a mere 192 away from Senor Snacks in the thriving metropolis of Levenshulme, this pair of disco delinquents share a penchant for pingers, Prosecco and the lesser known corners of Europe's 80's club sound.

After a mysterious appearance on one of Duca Bianco's brilliant V/As, Miserymix drop their debut EP on Drum Chums, aiming directly for the dance floor.

The Italo-noir of 'Sexy Cowboys' gets the set off to a sleazy start, its seductive synths and strangled guitars riding throbbing bass and leather-clad percussion right into the darkroom, where the yelping vocal echoes over the creak of a swing. Miserymix push the tempo for the pacey disco pump of 'Proverbial S.O.B.', a peak-time stomper dubbed senseless for the perfect tops-off groove. Subtle kalimba, cut up vocals and orchestral hits find every sweet spot atop the one note bassline, while those airy piano chords steer us straight into the sublime.

Kicking off the flip is the uber-anthemic, endorphin-laced and mid-paced dancefloor destroyer 'E Motion'. Our disco duo spend plenty of time on the foreplay, teasing every ounce of ecstasy out of the nuanced perx, rolling bassline and sparkling synths before unleashing some flawless Francophone vocals on the way to a colossal chorus. Run-D.M.C. leaves no doubt about its intent on King of Rock. The New York trio's hard-hitting sophomore album begins with a statement of purpose ("Rock the House") that serves as a stereophonic primer for the title track, a hybrid warning-anthem-theme song that swarms with justified boasts, heavy metal riffs, booming beats, cowbell accents, and dance-worthy grooves. The back-to-back tunes set the tone for a 1985 record that largely established the blueprint for the hip-hop that would follow for the next two decades – and which helped make rap a mainstream currency via the previously off-limits channels of radio, TV, and the national stage. "It's not Michael Jackson/And this is not Thriller," the group broadcasts early on in the record. Truer words – and music recorded with such honesty, pride, rawness, and integrity – have seldom been committed to tape.
