"Rock Steady" was from the first album with Jahari, recorded with Needa on vocals and the first time using machines in the mix. During that session we had another song called "One Night Stand" that didn't make it on the album, but it should have looking back now. PPU Records fixed the instrumental for "Rock Steady". We didn't even know it was on the old tapes, we put it here as a bonus track.

Back in print and just in time for summer relaxation. It's hard to believe this album came out over 10 years ago. Back then we thought it was too rough for consumption, were we wrong! Today, “Songs” can be heard on hundreds of playlists around the world and still attracts listeners with its unique sonic grit. It became a template for LOFI producers and has even been featured in multiple Thrasher skate videos. Its appeal continues to cross genres and remains entirely random, but unmistakably Dwight. If you missed out on this album the first time, it's your chance to get that first PPU restoration of Dwight's solo songs from the 80s. This is the restoration that took over 2 years and included; phones held up to speakers, cassette to 1/4 reel transfers, Tascam manipulations, scotch tape, and a pair of scissors.

Dwight Sykes aka Sporty Cat, was born February 27, 1956 in Nettleton, Mississippi. At the age of two Dwight and family moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan where he would remain for most of his younger years. At the age of nine Dwight started his musical career singing background vocals with a spiritual group, Airs of Harmony, Jr., now known as the Michigan Nightingales. After three years of signing, Dwight started playing guitar. He joined his first r&B band, The Kenyatahs, at age thirteen and then played for five years with the group. Following the break up of the group and the death of his mother, Dwight enlisted in the U.S. Army. During that time he played guitar and drums for the band 100% Pure Poison. They played throughout Germany for 18 months. After being honorably discharged, and back in the states, Dwight started playing in numerous local Michigan bands including Domain, and Chaos. Eager to write his own material, Dwight created the group Jahari. They toured for a couple of years in the Michigan area until another break-up. Still under the Jahari alias, Dwight wrote "Situations" which received respectable air-play on Michigan local radio stations, WKMI, WQXC, WRDR, WKZO and WKDS. Dwight now resides near Atlanta, Georgia. He continues to write and produce songs on his Tascam 464 four track console. Although he uses other avenues to provide for the upkeep of himself and son, his love of music keep the hope alive that he will one day get that big break in the music business. Dwight Sykes - Songs Volume One is a collection of material written, produced and recorded by Dwight Sykes on 4-Track Cassette, in his home studio L.U.S.T. Productions.

As we reach our 30th release on the label, Animal Farm is proud to present Stephanie Sykes' first solo EP since 2016's effort on Prodigal Son. Those two years have seen her presence in the techno scene explode, with a flurry of appearances across Europe - our own Animal Farm night in Glasgow among them + residencies at Tbilisi's KHIDI and the infamous after hours Jaded crew in London, Corsica Studios.

Title track 'Interference' is an impeccably crafted tool in the vein of her recent DJ sets - boomy in the low end with sweeping peak time sensibilities. It's a brand of unpretentious techno purism Sykes has become synonymous with, also making her a firm favourite with the Animal Farm crowd.

The electro-informed 'On The Other Side' shows a new side to Sykes' production; contrasting mean drums with opulent synth work to craft something that is simultaneously dreamy and floor effective. The elusive Janice turns his hand to 'Interference' on the flip, providing a razor sharp mind-trip of a remix that's as affirming as it is abrasive.

Monday Off is a vinyl only record label from Brooklyn, New York, founded by Mary Yuzovskaya. Its ethos is to showcase artists that explore techno's hypnotic side; specifically where trippy and dark music goes deep yet dynamic. For the third release, NYC/Berlin/Washington DC transplant Arthur Kimskii dives in with a heady trio of his productions. Title track 'Verbal Variance' slowly unfurls with a myriad of textures and sounds to both confuse and delight the senses, while 'Swan An Ocean For You' takes on similar terrain albeit kicked up a notch and warmer in tone. 'Basement Moves' is an emotive and partially beat-less affair steeped in layers of noise, and MOFF favorite Stephanie Sykes strips the A-side down for a sinister and chugging remix.

Als Gründungsmitglied und Hauptsongwriter von The Pineapple Thief hat Bruce Soord das letzte Jahrzehnt damit verbracht, seine Stimme zu verfeinern, die emotionale Direktheit mit musikalischer Zurückhaltung in Einklang bringt. »Ghosts In The Park«, sein neuestes Solo-Album, ist sein bisher persönlichstes und ungeschütztes Werk: eine Platte, die von Verlust, Erinnerung und den stillen Räumen geprägt ist, die sich offenbaren, wenn das Leben weitergeht, während alles andere stillzustehen scheint.

Das Album wurde über einen Zeitraum von zwei Jahren geschrieben, während Soord ausgiebig mit The Pineapple Thief auf Tournee war, und entstand in Hotelzimmern, fremden Städten und in Momenten erzwungener Einsamkeit. Vor diesem Hintergrund verarbeitete Soord den langwierigen Verfall und schließlich den Tod seines Vaters sowie das Fortschreiten der Alzheimer-Krankheit seiner Mutter. Diese Spannung zwischen Zerbrechlichkeit und Kontrolle bestimmt den Klang des Albums. Tracks wie »Concepción«, »Meet Me On The Downs« und das Titelstück entstanden an bestimmten Orten - Chile, Hamburg, Oberhausen -, wobei jeder Ort einen subtilen Eindruck in der Musik hinterlässt. Das fünfte Album der Newcastler Riffzauberer Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs (aka PIGSx7) ist geprägt von kalkulierter Aggression und selbstzerfrleichenden Texten. Zu den verblüffenden Boni gehören verspielte Synthesizer-Arbeiten und der Auftritt eines Hip-Hop-Masters. Mit seinem Titel, der Absurdität und Ernsthaftigkeit einander gegenüberstellt, ist dies Death Hilarious. Während Land Of Sleeper von 2023 als immersives Kopfhörer-Erlebnis konzipiert war, strebten Pigs dieses Mal nach etwas direkterem, böseren. ,Wir wollten, dass es ein Schlag ins Gesicht ist", grinst Produzent und Gitarrist Sam Grant. Dieses Ziel kam zum Teil dadurch zustande, dass die Band in den letzten Jahren sooooo viele Gigs gespielt hat. Die Band fühlte sich gut geölt und reif dafür, den Zuhörern zu Hause die Art von Prügel zu verpassen, die ihr Publikum von der Bühne aus erhält. Death Hilarious bietet einige Überraschungen, vor allem der Track 'Glib Tongued', bei dem El-P von Run The Jewels als Gastmusiker mitwirkt. Als Bassist John-Michael Hedley unwissentlich das schrieb, was seine Bandkollegen als ihr Äquivalent zu einer Hip-Hop-Nummer betrachteten, setzten die Pigs ihre Ziele hoch an und sicherten sich einen fulminanten Beitrag von einem der größten Rapper der Welt. Das soll nicht heißen, dass Pigs zum Nu-Metal übergegangen sind. Death Hilarious ist eine abwechslungsreiches, straffes Album, das sich zwischen sabbathianischem Doom, grotesk minimalistischem Noise Rock und zyklischen Post-Metal-Fortissimos bewegt. Auch die Pigs treiben sich selbst weiter an. Unpassende Synthesizer-Soli tauchen dort auf, wo normalerweise Gitarren-Histrionik Platz hätte. Klaviertracks lauern im Mix und verleihen dem Klangstrudeln eine fast unterschwellige Tiefe. Stitches" ist wie Motörhead, die versuchen, Glamrock mit einem beschwipsten Keyboarder zu spielen. Und dann ist da noch das 100-Meilen-Tempo des Cosmic-Thrash-Openers ,Blockage". Verzerrte Licks fliegen aus den Verstärkern von Grant und Lead-Gitarrist Adam Ian Sykes, während die Rhythmusgruppe dahinter brutzelt. Mit all dieser Power, die durch die Adern fließt, wird Death Hilarious mit Leichtigkeit eines der besten Rockalben des Jahres 2025 sein... und das ist kein Witz!

Insolate unveils the 'Full Disclosure' album, arriving 7th March 2025 on her Out Of Place Records, released on digital and double record vinyl. It's the Croatian artist's second full-length release, already supported by the likes of Rodhad, Stephanie Sykes, and Nastia, following 2019's 'Order Is Chaos' on the label and its subsequent remix album, which featured reworks by Ben Sims, Pfirter, Sev Dah, Amotik, Under Black Helmet, Volster, ASEC, and Flamina.

"'Full Disclosure' is a reflection of who I am today. It represents the music I love to play, featuring high-energy bangers alongside functional tracks while experimenting with chords, vocals and melodies. 'On Your Knees' starts Insolate's 'Full Disclosure' LP with rolling dub-infused rhythm drenched in a subtle but potent 303, an otherwordly vocal providing a tripped-out vibe. Closing out the A-side is 'Stand Strong', a pacey groove with an effective vocal sample and well-swung drums shot through with razor-sharp stabs.
On the flip, Insolate teams up with Croatian guitarist PEP for 'The Proof', a real banger that marks his debut in Techno production featuring mind-melting arpeggio sequences and a shadowy atmosphere. This is before 'Survival Symphony' strips things back via minimal drum work and electrifying synthlines that build in intensity.

The title track of Insolate's 'Full Disclosure' album, perfect peak-time cut 'Full Disclosure', continues with glitchy sequences, a bass bin-shaking groove, and another high-impact vocal sample. The aptly named 'Playground' then picks up speed with racing drums and rattling percussion while synths wriggle around playfully, followed by 'Big City', which features hauntingly enchanting melodies laid over bubbling arps and a steady beat. Insolate's 'The Biggest Fan' is another rave-ready trip with carefully crafted polyrhythms which won't fail to hypnotise the dancefloor before 'Ocean of Tears' closes out Insolate's stellar long-player via a captivating vocal harmony and acid-soaked 909s.

Since 1997, Insolate has become synonymous with the Croatian Techno scene via her HUSH! and TRAUM event series and her Osijek-based Out Of Place record label that's spotlighted artists like Anne, Francois X, and many more. She has built an impressive international career that's led her play at Berghain, Rex, and Tomorrowland, while her productions have seen her win the support of titans like Laurent Garnier and Ben Klock and join labels such as Luke Slater's Mote-Evolver and Bpitch.

'Full Disclosure' is a masterful body of work that shows the complete wealth of Insolate's talent and two-decade-long experience in Techno.

One track for one year, this collection of recordings highlights the status quo of enduring club music, beginning with a nod to the past: a re-release of Jeff Mills iconic 'Step to Enchantment' from 1993. This glance to the past quickly shoots us forward into the current state of techno with legendary artists like Planetary Assault Systems, DVS1, Steffi, Rodhad, Donato Dozzy, DJ Nobu and many others who headlined the club in recent years. Cementing itself as a respected escapist institution, Fuse also calls on its growing local scene to prove why Brussels continues to remain a reference in the scene even outside of its own borders.
