Die erste umfassende Compilation ihrer Art, "Even the Forest Hums: Ukrainian Sonic Archives 1971-1996" erforscht die blühende ukrainische Musikszene des späten 20. Jahrhunderts. Von subtil vom politischen Kurs abweichenden Singles aus der Sowjet-Ära bis hin zu DIY-Aufnahmen aus der pulsierenden Kiewer Underground-Szene zeichnet die Zusammenstellung die Entwicklung der reichen ukrainischen Musiklandschaft anhand seltener Folk-, Rock-, Jazz- und Elektronikaufnahmen nach. Sorgfältig kuratiert in Zusammenarbeit mit dem ukrainischen Label Shukai Records und mit voller Unterstützung der einzelnen Künstler. Vitalii "Bard" Bardetskyi, ein in Kiew lebender Filmemacher, DJ und Autor, führt die Hörer durch die physischen Ausgaben des Albums mit aufschlussreichen Linernotes und Track-by-Track-Details. Die 2xLP ist in einer wunderschönen Klappverpackung untergebracht, die die geliebten und ikonischen Folk-Gemälde der ukrainischen Künstlerin Maria Prymachenko präsentiert. Die Vinylausgabe enthält ein 20-seitiges Booklet mit Künstlerfotos und Linernotes in Englisch und Ukrainisch, gepresst auf Clear Blue Sky & Sunflower Yellow Wachs; die CD-Ausgabe enthält Bonusmaterial in einem 64-seitigen, gebundenen Deluxe-Buch. Ein Teil des Erlöses wird an Livyj Bereh gespendet, eine in Kiew ansässige Freiwilligengruppe, die sich für den Wiederaufbau in den vom anhaltenden Krieg in der Ukraine betroffenen Regionen einsetzt.

After years of reluctance, finally a new album from Dada Pogrom. The Icelandic musician Kenneth Walter Balys has created a masterpiece of elaborated synth passages with wonderful pop melodies. His performances are few and far between, but in March 2024 he had already played some of the new songs in front of a full sold out house at the Kernkrach Festival. The audience was thrilled and demanded encores. The synth god in perfection!

Expanding their signature blend of flying cymbal reggae, irresistible hammond organ and analogue funk, the track captures the band’s evolving sound. The 7” is completed by Bust Up, the band’s explosive NOLA-inspired funk cut from the debut album.

Following the success of his debut EP 'Departure', J Michael Harris returns with a dynamic neo-jazz album that marks his evolution as an artist. Bringing together legendary musicians from London, Los Angeles, and Atlanta, the album embodies elements of jazz, dance and electronica while drawing inspiration from luminaries such as Robert Glasper, J Dilla, Aphex Twin, Sampha, and Herbie Hancock.

SACRIVERSUM were formed in 1992 in Łódź (Poland), playing old school Death Metal with progressive elements and atmospheric sounds, making their complex mixture special and unique. Their debut album „The Shadow Of The Golden Fire“ was released in 1994, at a time when a lot of Death Metal bands started to push their boundaries and became more experimental. Their music was a perfect fit along with legendary bands like PESTILENCE, DEATH, GOREFEST & ATHEIST. And this counts for SACRIVERSUM and their upcoming new album „Before The Birth Of Light“ even more. „Before The Birth Of Light“ will be released on May 8th, by their new label FIREFLASH RECORDS (HOLY MOSES, WOLF, RUTHLESS a.o.) and is available on CD, limited vinyl and digital. The album stands for raw Death Metal, with those incomparable Hammond organs. Death meets Deep Purple. Their sound is a mixture of the above mentioned acts and is not too far apart from the latest BLOOD INCANTATION album. Both combine tradition with fiction. You have to hear and experience this Death Metal gem. Since 2022, SACRIVERSUM are back and continue, where they ended up with their debut album. Those nine new tracks on „Before The Birth Of Light“ are possibly the best songs SACRIVERSUM ever composed – once you got into it, they don’t let you go. It is a dark ride into another dimension, another time and another space. You are captured in their own world, in a time before the birth of light.

Hrishikesh Hirway, Musiker, Komponist und Podcast-Ersteller, bekannt für seinen preisgekrönten Podcast und die Netflix-Serie ,Song Exploder" sowie Kompositionen für Film und Fernsehen, darunter ,Companion", Save The Date, Our Nixon und Everything Sucks!, begann sein eigenes Musikprojekt unter dem Namen One AM Radio und änderte seinen Namen mit der Veröffentlichung von To Call My Own EP im Jahr 2022. Produziert vom Grammy-Gewinner Philip Weinrobe (Big Thief, Adrienne Lenker, Theo Katzman, Cass McCombs), In the Last Hour of Light ist eine Erinnerung daran, loszulassen - von Menschen, von Erinnerungen, vom Wunsch, die Zeit davon abzuhalten, zu schnell zu vergehen. Die Songs entstanden nach dem Tod von Hrishikeshs Mutter, als die Jahre sie immer weiter in die Vergangenheit drängten; in den Momenten, in denen er in seinem Krankenhauszimmer darauf wartete, dass sich sein Vater erholte; in dem Traum von einer Tochter, die er nie haben wird. Mit "In The Low Light" präsentiert die britische Singer-Songwriterin Lucy Kitchen ein zutiefst persönliches und atmosphärisches Album, das sich mit Themen wie Verlust, Erinnerung und innerer Wandlung auseinandersetzt. Entstanden in einer Zeit intensiver Trauer, verarbeitet Kitchen den Tod ihres Partners und verwandelt Schmerz in musikalische Schönheit. Die Songs bewegen sich zwischen traditionellem Folk, feinen Americana-Elementen und dem Geist der Singer-Songwriter der 1970er Jahre. Ihre eindringliche Stimme, kombiniert mit melancholischen Melodien und subtilen Arrangements, schafft ein klangliches Geflecht aus Intimität und Stärke. Vogelgesang, Hammond-Orgel und Bandbesetzung verleihen einzelnen Stücken eine warme, organische Tiefe. Lucy Kitchen ist bekannt für ihre poetische Ausdruckskraft und wurde bereits von BBC Introducing, Radio X und Amazing Radio USA unterstützt. Ihre Vielseitigkeit zeigt sich auch in Kollaborationen mit elektronischen Musikprojekten und Features bei BBC Radio 1. Mit Beiträgen zu Compilations wie "Folk Funk & Trippy Troubadours Vol. 2" und "Sounds of Southampton Vol. 3" hat sie sich als feste Größe in der britischen Indie-Folk-Szene etabliert.

Der Soundtrack wurde von Mark Lindsay (ehemaliger Leadsänger von Paul Revere and the Raiders) und W. Michael Lewis (von den L.A.-Disco-Pionieren Rinder & Lewis) komponiert und hat östliche Melodien, die aus futuristischen Synthesizern und Disco-Basslinien erklingen, begleitet von einer unheimlichen Kinderstimme aus dem Off. Der legendäre Kultstatus des Films wurde durch GZAs umfangreiche Verwendung von Ausschnitten aus dem Film auf dem Klassiker-Album "Liquid Swords" (produziert von RZA) aus dem Jahr 1995 gefestigt. Sehr empfehlenswert für Soundtrack-Fans, Wu-Tang-Liebhaber und Tarantino-Fans (die sich vielleicht an Shogun Assassin Hommage in Kill Bill Vol. 2 erinnern).

Basket of Light is the most progressive and complex release by the British folk-rock group Pentangle. Traditional English folk songs are reinterpreted with a mix of jazz, pop and rock influences. Everything their previous works promised is fulfilled here. The album opener 'Light Flight' has become their signature song. If there is a prog folk masterpiece then it is Basket Of Light. Pentangle proved they could release a progressive, ground-breaking work without keyboards, much studio trickery or even electric instruments.

The original Pentangle was active in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The original line-up includes Bert Jansch (vocals & guitar) and John Renbourn (vocals & guitar).

Best known as the frontman of the influential indie rock trio Dinosaur Jr., J Mascis has also been a solo artist, producer, and film composer. Getting his start as a founding member of the hardcore band Deep Wound, Dinosaur Jr. was founded in 1984 and the group emerged among the most highly regarded alternative rock. By introducing volume and attack in his songs Mascis shed the strict limitations of early 1980’s hardcore, becoming an influence on the burgeoning grunge movement. Mascis’ body of work continues to inspire a generation of guitar players and songwriters today.


In 1997, Dinosaur Jr. disbanded and Mascis released More Light, his first recording under the moniker J Mascis + The Fog. Members and collaborators of The Fog have included Mike Watt (Minutemen / fIREHOSE), Ron Asheton (The Stooges), Robert Pollard (Guided By Voices), Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine), Dave Schools (Hard Working Americans / Widespread Panic) and Kyle Spence (Harvey Milk).
