Nachdem VARG mit ihrem letzten und bis dato erfolgreichsten Album Zeichen (2020, Platz #16 der Deutschen Albumcharts) den thematischen sowie musikalischen Fokus komplett auf ihre Pagan Wurzeln gelegt haben, gehen die Wölfe diesen Pfad mit ihrem neuesten Werk unbeirrt weiter und manifestieren ihre Reinkarnation eindrucksvoll.

Ehrlich, authentisch und roh – das neue Album Ewige Wacht erscheint am 13.10.2023 via Napalm Records. Neben elf brandneuen Songs enthält das 2-CD Digipac eine spannende Bonus-CD, auf der alle Songs von verschiedensten, namenhaften Gästen dargeboten werden – darunter etwa Rotting Christ, Kanonenfieber, Alestorm, Nachtblut, Korpiklaani, Obscurity, Tyr, Forndom, Harpyie und Robse.

Das achte Studioalbum transportiert nordische Mythologie, sowie Werte wie Ehrlichkeit und Loyalität. VARG zeigen sich einmal mehr als unbesiegbare Einheit, – davon zeugt bereits der Opening-Track „Immer Treu“.

Schon hier zeichnet sich ab, wie verstärkt Sängerin Fylgja diesmal in die einzelnen Songs einbezogen wurde.

„Schildmaid“, „Fylgja“ und „Eisenseite“ stehen als Sinnbild für dieses Zusammenspiel und den Weg, den VARG seit Zeichen beschreiten.

Die folkigen Melodien in „Morgenrot“ führen zum epischen „Siegreiches Heer“, das noch mal den Einheitsgedanken schärft, der sich wie ein roter Faden durch Ewige Wacht zieht.

Ein Jahr nach Veröffentlichung des letzten GOAT-Albums "Oh Death" kündigen die maskierten Schwed*innen nun den Nachfolger "Medicine" an, der am 13. Oktober auf Rocket Recordings erscheint. In der ersten Single "Unemployment Office" ergänzen sie ihren Psych-Rock um Elemente aus dem 70s-Progressive. Nicht nur die neue Single, sondern auch das gesamte Album hat eine durchgängig zurückhaltendere, warme Ausstrahlung, und die Band deutet an, dass das übergreifende Thema des Albums die Vergänglichkeit im Leben ist - in all seinen verschiedenen Facetten: "It's about the impermanence of life in different ways: sickness, relationships,love, death and how our time is finite." Es ist schwer zu sagen, wie oft die Mythologie und das Geheimnis von GOATs Hintergrundgeschichte neugeschrieben werden kann, aber das neue Album macht Schluss, nur in der Vergangenheit zu schwelgen, und präsentiert einem etwas sanfteren Psych-Folk-Sound, der immer noch Goat ist. So "unnahbar" auch ihre Gerschichte klingt, so mysterös beschreib die Band auch ihre Musik: "We often talk about how all music is world music and all other genres are old fashioned. All you can hear is the universal similarity between all music. The music from some old cult in northern Sweden can be the same as the music from wherever." Der Sound des neuen Albums ist die klangliche Manifestation aus nigerianischen Afrobeat, deutschen Krautrocks, Funk und düsteren, halluzinatorischen Rock. It's a pertinent start-point because, in many ways, God Is Luck exists firmly within that realm, many of the songs pulled directly from improvisation before being twisted into the mysterious shapes we find here on the finished record.

Recorded between the summer of 2020 and the summer of 2022, God Is Luck is an exercise in artistic freedom. The songs came quickly and easily by design, the whole point of the record and the approach to simply let go.

The third Bad History Month LP - following the Pitchfork-championed Old Blues (2020) - where aspects of the new album mirror the shape of Sprecher's previous work, its creation was an altogether different experience for the Philadelphia-viaBoston songwriter. He describes it as a collaboration with 'luck', the freeform nature of the recording resulting in a process that felt "fun and easy and fearless in a way that recording had never been."

"God is Luck means you can control reality by choosing your perspective to always see the luck, which makes you the god of your own reality," Sean Sprecher says of his latest record. With that notion at its core, Bad History Month's latest adventure finds twisted new ways to tell age-old tales. Even in its most fearless compositions, buried within dense fog, it strives for goodness; freedom from fear, love for friends, surrounding yourself with those who inspire.

New Shadows peaks into corners where interior and exterior worlds collide, where miniscule revelations can be found in the darkness of ourselves and our community: lost children, unheard prayers, bugs, money, depression, romantic relationships, regret, and Zoom funerals, all become a lens for self-reflection.

The production (by Don Cento and JDD) is modeled after DeCicca's favorite early 80's albums (Lindsey Buckingham's Law & Order, ZZ Top's Afterburner, Robert Palmer's Clues, Lou Reed's New Sensations,) while the songs' architectures and pathos lean more towards Warren Zevon, Townes Van Zandt, and John Prine - all these record- makers and songwriters are embedded in DeCicca's DNA, having seen them, and in some cases met them after gigs, when his brain was still developing between the ages of 13-19 years old.

The virtual collaborators are the musicians whose kept him company while isolated in his rural town, Bulverde, TX: Brian Harnetty's Many Hands, Rosali's No Medium, Irreversible Entanglements' Who Sent You?, James Brandon Lewis's Jessup Wagon, Jeff Parker's JP's Myspace Beats and Suite for Max Brown, and the Los Lobos discography.

New Shadows isn't so much about DeCicca's new discoveries, as it is the penumbrous reminder of what's always been there.

LIVE AT THE QUEENS HOTEL MARGATE 1977 It was 1977 and things were progressing extremely well. We had signed to Beggars Banquet and our first single ‘Shadow’ b/w ‘Love Story’ had been released. John Peel had been playing both sides of the single most nights on his radio show, so we were getting heard by a lot of people. But we didn’t yet have a "proper" tour bus, so we all piled into a transit for the trip down to Margate with our tour manager Mike Stone in the driving seat. The Queens Hotel turned out to be a pretty good venue. There was a nice high stage which we much preferred over the low-slung platforms of some of the places we played. It meant that the crowd wasn’t totally swamping us the whole time, although there would still be a constant stream of people jumping on and off stage, bumping us, knocking equipment over and so forth. We weren’t sure if many people would turn up on a cold and windy night so close to Christmas, but it was a good turnout, and they were out for a good time too. There was none of the aggro stuff which would become a problem later on at our shows. The actual gig was typical of a Lurkers show at that time, being fairly chaotic with a lot of crowd "interaction". There is a recklessly fast version of ‘Pills’ on the recording, and I think we were playing ‘It’s Quiet Here’ for the first time live. Howard was on good form too; it would be his birthday on Christmas Day. My favourite quip from him is towards the end of the show when he says "eat your heart out Hank Marvin" after one of my more eccentric Shadows guitar intros. PETE STRIDE 2022

und wurde mittlerweile auf Spotify fast 100 Millionen Mal gestreamt. Zwanzig Jahre harte
Arbeit und geduldiges Touren zahlten sich schließlich in Platin-Auszeichnungen und
einem ausverkauften Ziggo Dome aus. Und das alles nach seinen eigenen Bedingungen,
ohne Zugeständnisse zu machen. Doch wer denkt, dass Danny Vera sich jetzt auf seinen
Lorbeeren ausruhen wird, der irrt. Die Musik liegt ihm im Blut, und dieses Blut fließt
dorthin, wo es nicht hingehört. Amerikanische Country-, Blues- und Rock 'n' Roll-Musik
gehört dazu.
Sein neues Album 'DNA' wurde von Vera auf eine andere Weise geschaffen als üblich.
„Normalerweise dauert es zwei bis drei Jahre, um zwanzig Songs zu schreiben, aber
diesmal habe ich sie in zwei Monaten geschrieben“, sagt er. „Alles kam einfach spontan
heraus.“ Die Stimmung auf dem Album unterscheidet sich erheblich von der auf seinem
vorherigen Album. „Ich habe schnell gemerkt, dass in den Songs im Vergleich zu meinem
vorherigen Album 'The New Now' eine andere Atmosphäre herrschte. Es war etwas
authentischer, mehr Rock 'n' Roll und Blues – und so sollten die Songs klingen, so
authentisch wie möglich.“ In einer Zeit, in der ChatGPT Ihnen innerhalb von Sekunden
komplette Texte ausspuckt und alle Unvollkommenheiten im Studio ausgebügelt werden
können, war es für Danny Vera sehr erfrischend, alles auf einmal aufzunehmen. „So hat
man es früher gemacht, und deshalb hat es so gut geklungen, voller Spaß. Die
Unvollkommenheiten sind Teil davon, die Unvollkommenheiten machen es perfekt.“
Letztendlich landeten sechzehn Songs auf dem neuen Album. 'DNA' ist ein Album, auf
dem Danny Vera zu seinen Wurzeln zurückkehrt, mit Songs, die ihre Wurzeln in der
amerikanischen Roots-Musik vergangener Zeiten haben. Ohne Klickspuren, Autotune

BMG freut sich, die Veröffentlichung der Doppel-LP von Uriah Heep's Your Turn To Remember: The Definitive Anthology 1970-1990 auf gelbem Vinyl in limitierter Auflage zu veröffentlichen. Drose is an experimental rock band from Columbus, Ohio, featuring the songwriting and voice of Dustin Rose. Their fevered, nihilistic new release, boy man machine+, combines their 2016 album of the same name with their debut 7", "a voice", and an assemblage of unreleased tracks — all freshly remastered by veteran engineer Carl Saff.

Dustin Rose calls boy man machine+ "an indictment of human consciousness." The music explores the torments of sentience through the sound of machines across the album, featuring slashing lines from guitarist Gregory Packet and bizarre drum patterns from John Mengerink. The results are harsh, bewildering and strangelybeautiful.
