Johnny Cash (* 26. Februar 1932) ist eine Legende der Musikgeschichte. Sein Tod am 12. September 2003 war ein Schock für viele Fans, obwohl er wenig überraschend kam. Seine hemmungslose Drogensucht und sein exzessiver Lebensstil in den Fünfzigern und Sechzigern, die erst durch die Liaison mit June Carter ein Ende fanden, waren allgemein bekannt. Dabei war Cash in erster Linie der größte und einflussreichste US-amerikanische Country-Sänger, und ein begnadeter Songschreiber dazu. Cashs Markenzeichen war neben seiner markanten Bassbariton-Stimme und seinen kritischen und unkonventionellen Texten der "Boom-Chicka-Boom"-Sound seiner Begleitband Tennessee Three, der an einen rollenden Zug erinnerte. Cashs musikalisches Spektrum reichte von Country, Gospel, Rockabilly, Blues, Folk und Pop bis hin zu dem von Rick Rubin ab Mitte der Neunziger kongenial in Szene gesetzten Alternative Country. Legendär sind seine Konzerte in den Gefängnissen Folsom und San Quentin Ende der Sechziger. Cash schrieb etwa 500 Songs, nahm rund 2500 Titel auf, verkaufte mehr als 50 Millionen Tonträger und wurde mit 13 Grammy Awards ausgezeichnet. Zudem trat Cash in einigen Filmen und Fernsehserien als Schauspieler auf.

that beckons forth from the underground of the
Midwest, full of bouncing flair and techno passion.
Hoffman's S.O.S. (Scully, Owsley, Sand) is more than a
mere head nod to the alchemists participating in the
League for Spiritual Discovery and The Brotherhood of
Eternal Love. It induces a pristine acid trip that twists
neurons about agitated filtered eects and eective
rhythmic structures. Finally, it emerges into wondrous
vistas of ever-expanding horizons. Blue Striped Felix
worms deep into the groove with the same brawn, its
components lean and unceasing.
Over on the flip side, 2way struts a mean dance,
stripping out the previous track’s acid melodies into
something far more focused on repetition with an
electro influence shining through. This electro sound
beams forward even more into a mutant funk on Morf.
The synths move squeakily as if the machine got
jammed into enlightenment. Unexpected beat
changes flick over to a four to the floor briefly, before
out of nowhere chords invite the closing moments in
with an eventual melodic response to the dancing
synths.
Brunson's tracks represent a unique sound. Techno is
as real as the person who experiences it, and these
tracks come from an enigmatic messenger who is
firmly out on a limb.
Ben E. Kings (1938-2015) kommerziell erfolgreichster Song ist das weltberühmte Stück "Stand By Me" von 1961. Insofern passt es sehr gut, nach diesem eine Hitkompilation zu benennen. Die Karriere des US-amerikanischen R&B- und Soulsängers startete 1955, als er zur Vokalgruppe Five Crowns stieß und dort James Clark ersetzte. Die Band setzte sich neben King, der als Leadsänger fungierte, aus Charlie Thomas (Tenor), Doc Green (Bariton) und Elsbeary Hobbs (Bass) zusammen. Ab 1958 trat die Formation unter dem Namen The Drifters auf. Von da an stellten sich größere Erfolge ein. So feierten die Drifters zum Beispiel mit dem von Leiber/Stoller produzierten "There Goes My Baby" einen ersten Rang in den R&B-Charts und einem zweiten Platz in der Pophitparade. Nach weniger als einem Jahr verließ King die Drifters und trieb seine Solokarriere voran. Dennoch nahm er noch einige Titel mit der Gruppe auf, darunter die Millionseller "Save The Last Dance For Me" und "Nobody But Me", die jeweils den ersten Platz der Charts erreichten. Nach seinen Soloaufnahmen "Spanish Harlem" (1960) und "Stand By Me" hatte er bis zum Ende der 1960er noch etliche Hits. 1975 gelang ihm mit "Supernatural Thing" ein stattliches Comeback, danach war Kings große Zeit vorbei.

Feel safe: like newborn, take your first careful steps on a clean slate while Maayan is your supervisor. Naïve and happy, you leave carbonbon footprints on your way into the positives. Then a faster pace: some tribal folk music from a tiny world, where people dance around an LED fire, commands a gallop to the one and ollam. Latinfection guaranteed.
Your nonplus motion interferes with environmental geometry. A memory from an analog past flashes like a daydream. Upward and rising, your smile workout succeeds while scintillating waves say “hello!”. Having grown up to a motorik being, the determined goal however never appears. The journey into a perfect storm is the reward. Maayan sends you some motivating words.
Then have a break and jump on the light train of thoughts to enjoy blurred reflections: on the water and in your mind. Sing your body beautiful and free. Words come in bubbles, a heart-throb away from a light tower. Feel like stumbling into new adventures on a pathless terrain.
Slowly and cautious, the novemberme, which is the one that approaches dawn, celebrates tristesse with a funny accent. Kick the blues with a beat. Somewhere lost but regenerated, find sisyphos’ generator of vitality. A nascent religious mood at the Autobahn service station fades into the fog.
Finally, the circle of pace is almost closed. After laughter of amazement, Maayan leaves you with a soothing mantra of confidence: an everyday ritual fun you should indulge yourself in. It comes in waves.

This aggressive collection draws from California’s rich history of punk, more specifically hardcore: a new sound that eschewed melody for intensity, a sound that took punk harder and faster, a sound intrinsically American. Whilst hardcore was also burning over on the East Coast, it was in California that it had ignited and sprawled, a sonic punch in the face that raged socio-political disdain and total abandonment for commercialism, fuelled by a crumbling American Dream and the collapse of family values.
Suburban Annihilation takes you from the major cities, to the coastal towns, to the SoCal suburbs, showcasing some the most important bands of the West Coast. Blasting off with the Adolescents ‘I Hate Children’, it heads from the year zero of Middle Class’s ‘Out Of Vogue’ to the surf punk of Agent Orange’s ‘Bloodstains’, from the blues tinged outlaw of The Gun Club’s ‘She’s Like Heroin to Me’ to the classic anti-anthems: ‘Live Fast Die Young’ by the Circle Jerks, lifted from their seminal Group Sex album, and the hardcore staple ‘California ÜberAlles’ by the Dead Kennedys. Also present are so many other bands integral to the era: T.S.O.L, Wasted Youth, Germs, Social Distortion, Suicidal Tendencies, Negative Trend, Flipper and many more.
Though the music was designed to repel, this historical document has been lovingly designed to remind us that this genre created some of the most immediate and acutely-realised music ever produced. Wir dürfen uns Karin Rabhansl als einen glücklichen Menschen vorstellen. Beschwingt dreht die Sängerin aus dem Bayerischen Wald auf ihrem fünften Studioalbum "Rodeo" die Gitarren laut. Der Rabe fliegt wieder - doch diesmal will er dorthin, wo er noch nie war. Auf "Rodeo" verschiebt Karin Rabhansl munter ihre eigenen Parameter. Geschickt zitiert die furchtlose Niederbayerin mit den bunten Ringelstrümpfen Rockhelden wie Led Zeppelin, Kyuss und Weezer und frönt ihrer tiefen Liebe zu Radiohead, Sigur Rós und PJ Harvey. Der Albumtitel "Rodeo" steht für den Ritt des Lebens. Die Mundart-Riot-Queen aus Trautmannsdorf Rock City erzählt ihre dunkelbunten Milieustudien nicht mehr nur in der ersten Person, sondern aus der neutralen Position der Beobachterin und Chronistin heraus. Bemerkenswert in befindlichkeitsfixierten Zeiten wie diesen ist dabei ein Detail: In den Texten wird genau beobachtet, aber wenig bewertet und vor allem nicht gejammert. Ganz eigentlich geht es auf "Rodeo" ums Durchhalten. Ums Klarkommen. Und darum, seinen ganzen Mut zusammenzupacken und das Heft in die Hand zu nehmen, wenn es sich nicht mehr ausgeht. Über Rabhansls Geschichten schwebt stumm die Erkenntnis, dass dieses Leben kein leichtes ist und noch nie war. Und dass die Welt kein per se guter oder schlechter, sondern oft einfach nur ein heikler Ort ist - seltsam und schön und zugleich doch immer voller Falltüren und Untiefen.
