Pratt & Moody melden sich mit einer neuen 7"-Single auf Timmion Records zurück, auf der ,Hard Way To Live" und ,You Bring Me Joy" zu finden sind - zwei tiefgründige Soul-Stücke, die ihren Platz unter den wahren Pionieren des modernen Sweet-&-Beat-Soul-Revivals erneut untermauern. Geschrieben und aufgenommen zusammen mit Timmions bewährter Hausband Cold Diamond & Mink, setzt die Single eine Tradition fort, die schon immer die Grenze zwischen zeitgenössischem Songwriting und zeitloser Soul-Ästhetik verwischt hat. Die A-Seite, ,Hard Way To Live", zeigt Pratt & Moody ganz in ihrem Element der Beat-Balladen. Aufgebaut auf einem warmen, funkigen Fundament, schafft der Song ein Gleichgewicht zwischen emotionaler Tiefe und melodischer Leichtigkeit, während der Refrain in Crossover-Soul-Pop-Gefilde übergeht. The Ritual is a 2000 EP by Greek stoner rock Legends Nightstalker, featuring a 27-minute blend of heavy psych, stoner, and punk recorded between 1998-1999. It includes four original tracks and a Motörhead cover, "Iron Horse," often praised for its dirty, riff-heavy, and trippy sound.

"Water Ritual" is the second jam we did during a five-hour session in Joshua Tree on April 20th, 2024, at Gatos Trail Studios. I had just picked up a new pedal called "The Fable," and it's all over this track. It's a delay with all kinds of crazy repeat options. When we mixed it, I wanted portions of the song to have a '70s dub reggae feel. So Dan at Gatos hooked up his Echoplex to the board and nailed that sound. Here, four extended ambient pieces unfold through slow-moving synth layers and sustained tonal clusters shaped by hospital room stillness on this new one from the ever present ambient don, zake. 'Hh I' opens with low-frequency drones and faint harmonic shifts that hover without a rhythmic anchor. 'Hh II' introduces higher tones with subtle detuning, creating tension. 'Hh III' darkens through thicker layering and reduced harmonic movement while 'Hh IV' thins the texture with long decay tails. Another immersive gem.

Shit Robot and DFA are psyched to rerelease 2015 anthem "Where It's At", a collaboration with the singer/comedian/television star Reggie Watts. Reggie Watts' vocal performance runs the gamut of Chicago dance music history - from the gloom and melodrama of iconic label Wax Trax, to the jubilant choruses of Frankie Knuckles' house anthems. But let's not de-emphasize the solid instrumentation provided by Mr. Marcus 'Shit Robot' Lambkin - we've got that classic DFA bassline, claps, and bleeps and bloops aplenty - mixed and manipulated by none other than our own James Murphy. The flip features a remix by London producer Johnny Aux, who turns the track into a staticy, stripped down, raw Deep House banger, with hissing glimmers of icy cymbals peeking through the smog.
