Fifteen years after the release of their critically acclaimed 2008 LP, ‘Sirens of the Sea,’ the Anthology box set spans the full spectrum of the OceanLab sound, from early 2000s vocal trance classics to brand new remixes and never-before-heard acoustic reworks. Housed in a premium-quality fabric-wrapped double slipcase with foil detailing, the box features four 12” single discs on crystal clear vinyl, a 10” ‘Another Chance’ single disc, and a special Anthology-edition repress of the original ‘Sirens of the Sea’ album. There is also an accompanying poster print, slipmat, and 28-page perfect-bound book containing notes from the band, never-before-seen photos, and exclusive sheet music arrangements with piano, guitar, and voice parts.

Linval Thompson is one of the great roots vocalists that ruled the dancehalls of Jamaica in the mid 1970’s. His distinctive vocal style and roots lyrics, that spoke of the struggles that faced the Rastas, hit a chord with the people of Jamaica, and provided a string of hits for him in the dancehalls. This in turn, would set a tone that he carried on through his musical career and future production work. Linval Thompson (b.1959, Kingston, Jamaica) was actually raised in Queens, New York. He cut his first record there at the age of 16 ‘No Other Woman’ with future Third World singer Bunny Ruggs. He also cut a couple of tracks for a US producer E Martin ‘’Jah Jah Deh’and ‘Weeping and Wailing’. In 1974 he returned to Jamaica and cut ‘Mama Say’ and a version of D Brown’s ‘Westbound Train’ for producer K Hobson which got Thompson noticed by producer Phil Pratt. Pratt took him to Lee Perry’s Black Ark studio’s where he cut ‘Kung Fu Man’. Thompson’s friendship with fellow singer Johnny Clarke led to a meeting with producer Bunny Lee. His first track cut for Lee was ‘Don’t Cut Off Your Dreadlocks’ and it became a big hit in Jamaica. Bunny Lee was the producer of the moment and Linval added to his long list of hit singles with ‘A Big Big Girl’, ‘Cool Down Your Temper’, ‘Ride On Dreadlocks’ and the title of this compilation ‘Jah Jah Is The Conqueror’. He seemed to hit a musical height working for Bunny Lee (who as he has done with many of his singers) encouraged Linval into production work himself. Which has led to another chapter in Linval’s story. Working with an array of artists including, Freddie McGregor, Johnny Osbourne, Barry Brown, Rod Taylor and many more. But it is his singing career that we focus on here and that great period in reggaes history the mid 1970’s where Linval delivered a string of classic hits that we have compiled for you here. Celestial Echo is back with another funky bomb on 45, a hyper-rare track that only came out on demo from the label Midland International, The Medlows “Love (Part 1)" has been a secret spin for a lot of soul djs. A real favourite of label boss miche - he just featured it on his latest comp even, but this 45 is backed with a dancefloor ready extended edit from Bristol disco king Admin.

This has to be some of the heaviest soul to ever be pressed and kept in the shadows, once it’s in your record bag, it wont be leaving in a hurry.

King Street Sounds return for the fifth sampler in the series. This release showcases four releases from six house music aficionados such as Mood II Swing, DJ Romain, Jon Cutler, Studio Apartment, Quentin Harris and Pal Joey under his Loop Trick guise.

The EP opens with New York duo Mood II Swing’s “Driving Me Crazy” originally released in 1995 and still sounds as good now, 30 years later. Up next is DJ Romain & Jon Cutler with De Ja Vu (Mr.V Roots Main Mix) featuring Jeannie Hopper delivering a mesmerizing vocal. This one’s built for those dim lit rooms.

Kicking things off on the B side is “Beat Freak” (The Shelter Dub) by Loop Trick (otherwise known as Pal Joey). An already outstanding record got a distinguished touch up from New York house legends Blaze.

Drawing this wonderful EP to a close is Studio Apartment featuring Terrance Downs with “We Are Lonely” (Quentin Harris Vocal Mix). The NYC legend adds his deft touch to the Japanese duo’s soulful offering.

2025 marks the 50th anniversary of Led Zeppelin’s iconic sixth album, and their first double LP, Physical Graffiti.

To celebrate this landmark, Led Zeppelin will release an updated 50th Anniversary edition of 2015’s Physical Graffiti Deluxe Edition 3LP vinyl set, on 180g black vinyl, still featuring the Companion Audio disc, and now including a new bonus replica Physical Graffiti promotional poster (sized 443mm x 610mm).

Released on February 24, 1975 in the US (and four days later in the UK), Physical Graffiti immediately achieved platinum sales status and has recently been certified 17x platinum in the United States.

This exciting 45, features two previously unheard 60s, New York soul, dance tracks.

Big Apple session singer and occasional composer, Doris Willingham, first had a rare release on the Hi- Monty label in 1966 and then in 1968 cut four sides for drummer Bernard “Pretty” Purdie. All were produced by Richard Tee and co-written with Doris. They were licensed to Ed Kassner who launched his Jay Boy label with ‘You Can’t Do That’ in both the UK and the USA. A change of strategy caused the US label to be discontinued after two releases and the UK then switched primarily to home-produced recordings. The two best Willingham sides lay dormant at President’s tape library until Ace released the killer ballad ‘Too Much To Bear’ in 2005. The fourth track is this superb dance number featuring the great Purdie band, no doubt featuring his usual bassist Jimmy Tyrell, who arranged the Hi-Monty 45.

The Taylor Brothers ‘Holding On’ is a much grittier affair, produced by Maxine Brown’s husband at the time, Mal Williams. The duo were Bennie “Earl” Bunn and Sam “The Man” Taylor and they wrote this, the third track recorded at the session that produced the ‘People In Love’ single on Joy. Sam had been a major mover in NYC black music circles since the 50s with his own bands and had fingers in many pies. The duo gave a performance worthy of some of the great 60s male soul couplings.

Some of the finest contemporary electric artists come together on one compilation and given that unique Yage remix treatment under the direction of The Future Sound Of London, and including one track by FSOL themselves on this instalment.

For the first time ever, this incredible 1974 recording by Joe Truss and composer Michael Kamen (who would go on to score Hollywood blockbusters like Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, and Robin Hood) is getting the proper release it always deserved.

Nearly all original copies were destroyed by the pressing plant after being pressed at the wrong speed. A second run of just around 50 copies was quietly made — and then it vanished into obscurity. Until now.

On Tuesday 3rd September 1963, the Beatles recorded all eighteen tracks for the last three Pop Go The Beatles shows. The venue was the Aeolian Hall in Mayfair, used by the BBC for the recording and broadcast of concerts and recitals. The standout track here is a very confident sounding Misery with Duane Eddy-style ending.

Along with From Me To You and Till There Was You from that session, we include here the rock’n’roll instrumental version of Pop Goes The Weasel that started and finished each show. Also featured on this EP is a seasonal medley version of Eddy’s Shazam plus some a cappella tunes sung by the boys for Saturday Club on 17th December 1963, including All I Want For Xmas and You Were Made For Me.

During the first week in August 1963, the Beatles were touring in Lancashire, so they fulfilled their obligation to record the tracks for episodes 11 and 12 of Pop Go The Beatles at the BBC’s Playhouse Theatre in Hulme, South Manchester on August 1st. From Me To You, I'll Get You and Money were broadcast as part of show #12. Also recorded on August 1st was a rousing version of Twist & Shout that was broadcast on show #11.

Northern Front records 8th vinyl release is The Drowning World (Passive Margins EP) which is Response & Sonic under an alias, the EP consists of 3 atmospheric drum & bass tracks with tenor sax played by Jasper Byrne and 1 house track by Response. After the conceptual depth of "Parallel Traces of the Jewel Voice" (2021), dj sniff returns to Discrepant with a more direct and visceral document: Turntable Solos.

Composed from live recordings made during the latter half of 2024, Turntable Solos captures dj sniff’s improvised performances in their rawest form. At the core of his setup is Cut ’n’ Play, a software sampler he originally built in Max / MSP in 2007. Since then, he has continued developing custom tools and instruments that extend what Derek Bailey called the “instrumental impulse” — the tactile, responsive relationship between musician and machine that defines improvisation.

Following a summer 2024 tour of Japan with Gonçalo Cardoso, sniff was encouraged to document and release a selection of his live sets. Not long after, a performance at 20α (Alpha) in Hong Kong would become the emotional and conceptual anchor for the project.

In the liner notes, sniff reflects on the eerie parallels between recent footage of protestors in Los Angeles — assaulted by police using so-called “less-lethal” weapons, and civilians being abducted into detention centers — and the 2019 Hong Kong protests. A place once filled with personal nostalgia began to feel like a grim foreshadowing of what might unfold in Western societies.

In this turbulent context, 20α stands out as a space of resistance and renewal — a beacon for a new generation of experimental musicians, growing in defiance of increasing censorship and surveillance. "Turntable Solos" is both a personal statement and a public act of sonic resilience.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Dancing in the Street, a limited edition white vinyl 12" will be released on 29th August - 2 days after its anniversary, bringing together all of the song's mixes for the first time.

Speaking about the song, Mick Jagger said: ‘’We had such a laugh doing Dancing in the Street with both the song recorded in the studio and the video done in one day. Remarkable how we pulled it off really. The video is hilarious to watch now. We enjoyed camping it up and trying to impersonate each other’s moves, making it up as we went along. It was the only time David and myself collaborated on anything, which is a real shame.”

30% of the retail price from the sale of this single will be donated by David Bowie, Mick Jagger and Parlophone Records to The Band Aid Charitable Trust (Charity Number 292199).

Ida Engberg is back on DCLTD with her two tracker ‘Radiate’.

Radiate: insistent 'tin cup' tapping percussion offsets the thumping resonant beat, while two 'voices' duet - or duel?- a vocoder-processed robot vs sung, breathy, high vocal chords. A simple but heavy two-note main theme gives an ominous, almost threatening vibe, upping the tension and spicing the feel of the track.

New Day: high energy, fast rattling percussion split by spacey hoover sounds introduce a robotic vocal speaking, announcing, the lyrics - 'this is a new life..., a new day' - giving a portentous significance and atmosphere. The sweetly high melodic sustained synths chords add a layer of emotion, nostalgia touched with melancholy. Compelling, involving, as well as full on techno beats.
