He is a founder member of the legendary Swiss funeral Rock'n'Roll band The Dead Brothers (guitars and accordion). In 2009 he started several solo projects along with Robert Butler (the Shit, the Miracle Workers), Roland Bucher and Christian Aregger (Blind Butcher) in 2013 the Swing Revue was born, along with: Pierre Omer: vocals, guitar Julien Israelian: drums, Géraldine Schenkel: Fender Rhodes, Christoph Gantert: vocals, trumpet, and the one and only Lalla Morte: Sings Fakir and Dances. They played many shows and festivals such as: Binic Folk Blues Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, Buskers Bern, Festival Les Athénéennes, Pod'Ring Biel, Vinelz, Le Cirque Electric Paris etc. This new album is recorded by the band itself in true DIY-style - Pierre already produced some Voodoo Rhythm Records (mama rosin) in the past - and was mixed in Berlin's Big Snuff Studio with Nene Baratto (movie star junkies, black lips, Heat, Jimi Tenor, King khan, Black Mass Rising. Antes de presentarte esta novedad, hay que entender que en la segunda mitad de los años setenta, algo estaba cambiando en la escena musical. Los grupos musicales estaban en su auge hasta que llegó la llamada al servicio militar obligatorio. Entonces, todo el mundo volvía de él sin sus largas melenas y sin dinero. Los baladistas sin personalidad tomaban el control de la música, según lo dictado por las discográficas. Es entonces cuando las copleras, cantaoras y rumberas se convierten en la respuesta necesaria para combatir la insípida melosidad. A pesar de un contexto sociocultural desfavorable, arreglistas y productores invertían horas de sueño para revivir un sonido que estaba al borde de la extinción. A pesar de los cambios que haya podido haber desde entonces, el más significativo es que ahora la inmediatez digital dicta el rumbo.



Es por toda esta importancia que finalmente ha llegado un álbum que reúne a un elenco de folclóricas en una combinación única, fusionando el concepto del groovy funk; con canciones que abarcan todo el espectro afroamericano de la música de baile de los setenta, con toques de gritos y susurros aflamencados que le dan un giro impresionante. Podríamos considerarlo el álbum destacado de las Rosalias del siglo XX, una especie de viaje lisérgico en blanco y negro a la España de la posfranquista. Con su hiperrealismo revolucionario, este disco nos ofrece a una una estirpe de artistas sin igual.

En este encontrarás las joyas ocultas de artistas como Flores, Pantoja, Jurado, Polaca, entre otras. Aunque se mantuvieron fieles a sus estilos, todas ellas fueron famosas por otras facetas de sus extensas discografías, y muchas incluso aparecieron en la portada de Interviú en más del cincuenta por ciento de los casos, como las feministas de los años setenta según Francisco Umbral.

Higher Octave is a pairing of two guys intrinsic to the UK rave and hardcore scene. David Salvi, owner of Pro-One Records, the label to originally release this record along with a slew of other artists such as Law & Auder, Bay B Kane, Submania, Utomica and DJ Hopa, who is the other half of Higher Octave. David was also half of the group Utomica, whose Rok A Bye track was repressed by Vinyl Fanitiks in 2020 and has long since sold out.

David always credits Hopa as the guy with the ideas… he was out at all the raves and was always on point with how tracks should sound and any new trends that were incoming were hot on his radar. David was the guy with the studio, ready to help make Hopa’s ideas into reality.

A sought after release, originally released in 1992, with ‘Raise The Bones’ being the track that had the most rotations in the clubs and on the pirates back in the day.

Limited pressing on 180g heavyweight black vinyl, presented in a black inner sleeve with a Vinyl Fanatiks 3mm spined housebag.

The second in a series of self-released Liquid Earth Physical Records, “The Breakdown” is a front flip into curbside clubbing.

The Aside offers two impeccably tight mixes of the 12” title tune, both providing different licks of pleasure for the casual clubber. “Charms Of Gaia” is forward leaning, equipped with big room, big energy type vocal breaks. “Trips & Skips” is an ode to the stripped down wigglyness of one of UK Tech House’s greatest, Nathan Coles - a clear influence of Mr. Earths.

From here, we are sat next to the two black sheep of the 12” on what seems like the most pleasurable road trip of a record. B1 being the beefed-out break tune titled “The Closer” and B2 the straight and narrow slammings of “Cobblestone Stomper,” a track surely given its holy legs by the OG Jerusalem Cruiser.

What you won’t find on this record is senseless filler, instead, you’ll surely be pumping your face with the permanent botox that is Liquid Earth. Now let’s see that smile!

Hot Hot Heat’s classic debut album, ‘Make Up The
Breakdown’, filled with smart, energetic, dancepunk hits, returns to vinyl with this fully remastered
LP edition.
AllMusic called the album “an addictive, densely
packed pop gem that ranks among 2002’s best
albums,” and Pitchfork agreed, including it on their
list of The Best Albums Of 2002.
Following closely on the heels of their critically
acclaimed ‘Knock Knock Knock’ EP, ‘Make Up the
Breakdown’ is Hot Hot Heat's first full length,
recorded with Jack Endino at Vancouver, BC’s
Mushroom Studios (with engineering help from
Chris Walla of Death Cab for Cutie).
SPIN Magazine had this to say about ‘Knock
Knock Knock’: “Some retro new wavers hang
themselves on their own skinny ties. While their
peers lip-synch to Cure 45s, these Canucks take
subtler cues from early ‘80s synth disco. It’s not
new-wave worship, it’s the sound of punk teaching
itself to dance.”
‘Make Up The Breakdown’ delivered on the
promise hinted at on the EP. ‘Hot Hot Heat’ (along
with peers like Radio 4 and The Rapture) blended
angular post-punk twitch with danceable pop,
effectively (and finally) persuading white dopes on
punk to get on the good foot in the early 2000s.

Having produced the Emskee – Wall To Wall 12” released early 2021, AE boss Mr Fantastic is back with another slab of essential Hip Hop made without pretence or adhering to modern trends – in others words, how it used to be. Featuring Teekay of Dragon Fli Empire, hailing from Calgary, Canada, ‘Breakdown’ is a stand-alone single with no plans as being part of any album release right now and comes with the Instrumental version on the flip. Pressed on black vinyl and supplied in full colour card sleeve, as is the standard high-quality packaging from AE Productions.

Although only being acquainted via the internet, Mr Fantastic and Teekay have mutual admiration for each other’s work which lead to this collaboration. This funky 45 features crisp drums and disco funk samples that have been chopped into that good old Hip Hop. The beat has a reasonably sparse stabbing feel with subtle wah-wah guitar between the stabs which bounces along not just at a perfect tempo for DJ’s but also sonically perfect for a big sound system, hence this track being picked for a single release and packs that punch that sounds best played loud. No moody introspective thing here, this is crowd rocking Hip Hop.

Teekay’s rhymes flow over the beat like it is 2nd nature to him because, well, it is 2nd nature to him, and is further evidence of why his group Dragon Fli Empire alongside DJ Cosm, have been able to maintain a steady string of superb releases going all the way back to 2002 and have toured Canada, USA and Europe. The chorus features Mr Fantastic’s turntable skills backing up Teekay’s vocal giving a nicely conceived and executed song structure with a little help from 2 of Soul and Funk’s legends.

The artwork for this one was hand painted by Bristol graffiti heavyweight Turroe who favoured a nod to comic book covers for the theme which was then scanned and arranged into the sleeve format with courtesy of AE artwork regular Nick Pointon of Fine Print.

French guy Alex Agore opens the EP with the Lowtone remix of 'What Did I Do' - cut-up Garage House to the maxx.
Max Chapman from London / UK delivers another belter. A bassline-driven organ House tune with a minimalistic but very effective set-up. Oleg Poliakov aka SKAT is one of the guys behind 'Circus Company.' He comes up with a sublime but powerful Tech House tune, in the original sense of the genre name. 'Jazzve' is a tune by Russian producer Mutenoise. It's maybe the most original, innovative tune on this EP. Full of surprises and cutting-edge elements - hard to compare to anything else around these days.

The Lucid Dream return in October with the release of their 4th album, 'Actualisation'.
Driven by fans raising £10,000 to help replace all equipment robbed after a Paris show in early 2017, a new album became the instant focus in the summer of 2017 for a rejuvenated The Lucid Dream.
 
'Actualisation' is soaked in the influence of acid house, amalgamated with dub and kosmische. It will again see them acknowledged for venturing into pastures new, setting themselves apart from 'genres', 'scenes' or what any other act are currently doing. 
 
The album was penned over the summer of 2017 by Mark Emmerson (vocals/guitar/synths), using only the classic Roland 303/808 synths, bass and vocals as tools for writing. Inspiration for the writing was formed via continuous listening to the Chicago to UK acid house works of 1986-1992, the focus predominantly on the groove.
Several months on from those writing sessions and The Lucid Dream have completed their 4th album in 5 years. A record made for the dancefloor.
 
 
Recorded at Whitewood Studios, Liverpool, with Rob Whiteley, the album is produced alongside long-time collaborator Ross Halden (Ghost Town Studios, Leeds), with mastering via Dean Honer (All Seeing I/I Monster/The Moonlandingz).
 
The confrontational techno-punk of 'Alone In Fear' opens the album, a 9-minute attack fuelled by the frustration and anger spawned by Brexit, government and a realisation of what 2018 Britain currently is.
Recent single 'SX1000' (the first work from the album, unveiled via 12' vinyl in April this year) is the band's first move into pure acid house. The acid house fusion runs throughout the record, represented furthermore by 'Ardency', a track already praised by live critics when aired live for the first time earlier this year as 'even on first hearing, would've raised the roof of The Hacienda'.
 
The 2-part opus of 'Zenith' follows, commencing with a space-dub/house instrumental groove before building into a track that will go for your head as much as your hips. Only 'Breakdown' harks back to sounds of old for the band, a little reminder of the skull-crushing impact they can make when stripped to the bare bones. 'No Sunlight Dub' closes the album, a dark-dub that invites the classic acid-house tool (Roland 808) into the dub. The track makes a stop-off into drum 'n' bass/jungle along the way before rounding up in a manner suited to Lee Perry, King Tubby, Augustus Pablo and other Jamaican greats.
 
 
The Lucid Dream formed in Carlisle, Cumbria, in 2008. A string of sold-out 7s was followed by the debut longer player, 'Songs Of Lies and Deceit', in August 2013. The initial vinyl pressing of the debut album (500 copies) sold out within 2 days, and was backed by a main stage slot at Kendal Calling, and supports to Death In Vegas and A Place To Bury Strangers (full UK tour).
 
The bands 2nd album ('The Lucid Dream') was released in March 2015 to further acclaim. This included 2 BBC 6 Music sessions and plays across most shows on the station, as well as plays from BBC Radio 1 (Huw Stephens) and BBC Radio 2. Further press followed from Uncut, The Skinny, Louder Than War, and Drowned In Sound, who named the album #7 UK album of 2015. Supports to Clinic and A Place To Bury Strangers also coincided.
 
 
3rd album, 'Compulsion Songs' was released in September 2016, on Holy Are You Recordings. The vinyl pressing of the album sold-out within a day, prompting an immediate 2nd press, with pre-sales of the album topping 1,000 before release. The album was backed by a headline UK tour, and a main slot at Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia (for which they were singled out for major plaudits from The Quietus, The Skinny and Drowned In Sound). The album again received acclaim from the likes of Mojo, Uncut, Classic Rock Magazine, BBC Radio 2 (Huey Morgan) and across the board on BBC 6 Music (Lauren Laverne, Marc Riley, Tom Ravenscroft, Gideon Coe, Stuart Maconie).
