"The debut album of Berlin’s favourite two-thirds Welsh, one-third Danish instrumental psych-disco trio, out Aug 30th. Imagine Jaki, JJ and Jarre*** locked in a room together, with a memo from John Carpenter that reads “Goblin + Swans = ?”. Something like that. Raw drums, bass, vintage organs and synths are utilised to brutal effect via 7 epic songs that deliver disco disquietude, krautrock, oscillating horror soundtracks and beyond.

Or, as the band themselves insist: ""the Nicki Minaj of dungeon synth"".

The band name is the Greek classifying nomenclature for man: aka The Talking Animal. As promulgated by Anthony Burgess.

The band has had a difficult birth. They got together, did two shows (one with Gruff Rhys), then pandemic struck, leaving them far apart. They got back together, then Fred broke his back in an accident. When they finally reconvened, they recorded, then their other musical projects took over (eg Jon Spencer & The Hitmakers, The Third Sound). The album and live plans were then delayed by more broken limbs. Now fully healed they are poised to heal you back in gratitude, at their soon to be announced in-person performances.

Jon Spencer teams up with Kendall Wind and Macky Spider Bowman - the rhythm section from Woodstock NY punk rock wunderkind The Bobby Lees - to chew bubblegum and kick ass. Two years after “Spencer Gets It Lit” (Marc Riley’s BBC6 Music Album of the Year, “hugely entertaining” MOJO, “a sonic witchdoctor who’ll blow your mind” UNCUT) there is still more work to be done saving rock'n'roll music. “Sick of Being Sick!” will be released on limited clear 45rpm Super-Stereo cut LP. Jon Spencer has been innovative force in the independent music scene since the mid-80s. An acclaimed live performer, he has toured all the continents except Antarctica and has amassed a dizzying discography as the leader of Pussy Galore, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Heavy Trash, and Jon Spencer & the HITmakers, as well as with Boss Hog, The Honeymoon Killers, The Gibson Brothers, and Taxi Girls. His collaborations include (but are not limited to) working with Steve Albini, Add N To X, Nicole Atkins, Beastie Boys, Beck, Bomb The Bass, R.L. Gemma Ray takes an unexpected detour from her
acclaimed psych-soul and torch song oeuvre with
a hard-edged experiment in cinematic electronica.
Epic despite its underlying simplicity and groove,
‘Gemma Ray & The Death Bell Gang’ blends the
funereal and the sinister with tenderness and
yearning, with a dash of automaton-pop and a
Dada-esque playfulness for good measure. Front
and centre are Gemma’s trademark stirring voice
and harmonies.
Released on eco-mix and splatter coloured vinyl
formats, with download card and exclusive pull-out
poster by British painter Deryk Thomas (Swans,
Angels of Light).
The record was recorded at Tempelhof Flughafen
in Berlin and features collaborations from sound
designer Ralf Goldkind (Fantastichen Vier, Mona
Mur), lap steel player Kristof Hahn (Swans), and
syncussion by Andy Zammit (Jon Spencer).

The eponymous Sun Cutter debut album, released via Bronzerat Records (Gemma Ray, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, The Still).

 Sun Cutter (real name Kevin Pearce) hails from Colchester in Essex, England. Three years ago, at the age of 33, Kevin suffered a heart attack (on a golf course). As well as having to redress some lifestyle
habits, his rehabilitation involved writing and recording the Sun Cutter project. It is an album of driving, harmony-drenched indie-soul folk-pop / rock that looks to the light for reflection.

 Songs of love and protest befit the man, and his politics of empathy, evident in his lyrics, are also demonstrated by his day job as a mental health worker. His tone and delivery sometimes reveal John Lennon, Tim Buckley and Bob Dylan as an influence.

 Co-produced with pal Dean Honer (Moonlandingz, Eccentronic Research Council, Pins). Dean is also one half of I Monster, and Kevin lent his voice and guitar to the acoustic version of ‘Daydream In Blue’, which soundtracked the Magnum ice cream ads in 2020.
They have also collaborated and created ‘The Sounds of Science’, a collection of science songs for kids, released in April 2022 on Castles in Space.

 Previously he has released (under his real name) the album ‘Matthew Hopkins & The Wormhole (AWAL)’, a concept record about the Witchfinder General who lived in the same village (Mistley in Essex).
