4/5 Mojo review: ‘Sparse, hypnotic big-room techno that builds from the bass drum up

Double LP is released on 140gm black vinyl in a transparent gloss foil sleeve, artwork and design by Ian Anderson for Designers Republic. Circuitry Electronic launches with a release that stands as a statement of intent - an artist with few true peers within English electronic music, with an album that jumps out of the speakers and slaps you around the chops. G-Man is Gez Varley - one half of Sheffield pioneers LFO, and thirty years into his solo career, with his first vinyl album release since Avanti on Force Inc way back in 2002. Speaking to DJ magazine in 2014 Gez recalled his early days working with Mark Bell as LFO: “We were influenced by groups like 808 State. Unique 3, Nightmares On Wax and also stuff like Kraftwerk, Detroit techno and early electro. So when we first hooked up and made tunes together we just wanted to rock the dancefloor at our local club The Warehouse”.

Their eponymous track ‘LFO’ – a classic of the bleep and bass techno movement – was one of the first releases on the Warp label, gate- crashing the UK’s Top 20 whilst annoying Simon Mayo along the way. Having worked with the likes of Richie Hawtin, Karl Bartos, Laurent Garnier, Art of Noise, Radiohead, YMO and Alan Wilder, in addition to the LFO output, you'd expect Gez to know his way around a techno dancefloor rhythm and drum pattern, and this is an inventive funk-filled journey that never veers too far into experimental territory yet avoids the cliches and generic tropes that too often lose the listener when techno manifests in album form.

Fay Fife is frontwoman of the legendary punk bands The Rezillos / The Revillos, and has been a pioneer in Scottish music for decades. The Countess of Fife is Fay's current project.

As a tribute to Vladimir sivc aka FUNKY DESTINATION who sadly passed away in march last year, SOOPASOUL is releasing this limited edition special updated version of the now classic '' The Inside Man- REMIX '' pt.1 has been completely rebuilt from the ground up , on the flip is pt.3 .. which is previously unreleased and features Paul 'Dewey' haywood on Tenor sax and Tony wright on Congas as well as toasting and additional guitars by Soopasoul.

A four-track EP operating between tension and motion. Man in Static features three original tracks and a remix by Adrià from Cúpula Records, Barcelona. The record explores repetition, signal, and pressure, with the club as its transmission point. Written and prepared throughout 2025, the EP is released in 2026 as the first chapter of a series on the Mozali Records electronic imprint.

The EP was mixed by Taro Venn, aka Georj, keeping the sound close to its original form. Mastering was completed by Viceversa, preparing the record for club systems.

Die aus Las Vegas / Orange County stammende Hardcore-/Punk-Band M.I.A. ist zum ersten Mal seit 40 Jahren mit neuem Material zurück! Nachdem sich die Band 2008 zu einem Gedenkkonzert anlässlich desvorzeitigen Todes ihres Sängers Mike Conley wieder zusammengefunden hatte, spielte sie noch einige Jahre mit dem ursprünglichen Sänger Todd Sampson weiter. Leider verstarb Todd kurz darauf an einem Hitzschlag. Die verbleibenden drei Mitglieder beschlossen, weiterzumachen, wobei Gitarrist Nick Adams nun den Gesang übernahm. Im Jahr 2017 veröffentlichte Darla Records die letzten beiden Alben der Band, ,Notes From the Underground" (1985) und ,After the Fact" (1987), erneut auf CD. Ab 2023 begann Modern City damit, den gesamten Katalog der Band auf Vinyl neu aufzulegen, darunter das bahnbrechende Album ,Murder In a Foreign Place" von 1984 (in Zusammenarbeit mit Alternative Tentacles) und ihren Teil der LP ,Last Rites for Genocide and M.I.A." aus dem Jahr 1982. Die Titel dieser neuen Veröffentlichung wurden im Dezember 2025 aufgenommen und umfassen drei brandneue Songs sowie "'Tomic Bomb", einen sehr alten, unveröffentlichten Song, der 1980 von der allerersten Inkarnation von M.I.A. geschrieben wurde, die damals als The Swell bekannt war. Diese Veröffentlichung ist auf 300 Exemplare limitiert und erscheint mit einem handgedruckten Cover und auf farbigem Vinyl.

Und dennoch ist die im Jahr 2009 gegründete Formation aus Tübingen mit jedem ihrer immer stoisch und schlicht mit dem Bandnamen betitelten Alben stets aufs Neue in vieler Munde, genießt mindestens Respekt, bei etlichen Fans gar unantastbaren Kultstatus - und das nicht nur innerhalb der Punk(Rock)-Basis, sondern auch bis tief in die Alterna- und Metalszene hinein. Große Riffs - mal episch, mal punkruppig, mal schmissig, und so gut wie immer nackenbrechend - und der zuweilen zweistimmige Gesang sind die Kerntrademarks des Vierers, dazu spartanische, aufs Bitternötigste reduzierte englische Lyrics sowie ein magnetisierender Groove, für den unzählige andere Musiker töten würden: HYSTERESE at it's very best. Auch mit Album Nummer fünf pflügen HYSTERESE durch eure Herzen. Wie nicht anders zu erwarten, walzt das Quartett seinen schwermütigen Punk-Rock in die nächste Metamorphose. Nate Krafft (Nathaniel Killins IV) is a visionary Detroit producer whose 1990s work were released under his own name and aliases such as Super Nova and Naquil and have since become highly collectible. He later re-emerged as Nate Nubia, continuing to experiment techno infused with machine soul and cosmic imagination.

In 1995, he dropped two cult 12"s on his own Infra label: Man ?? Machine and Crimson Arsenal, blending Detroit techno with electro edges and sci-fi atmospheres exploringuncharted territories. These sought-after EPs, which sounded futuristic long before their time, are brought together for the first time as one limited edition red vinyl 2x12".
